Pine phone OS's on Remix mini - Remix Mini General

Hmm... today I watched.. ETA prime's YouTube vid... about Pine Phone
It has 4 opensource operating systems... ( currently in beta? )
But most interesting is the fact, is that specs are about the same as the Remix Mini
That's makes me think... could we get these OS to run on the Remix mini?
Are there people like me? ... still interested in a Remix mini (possible upgrade pad)
Mine box is still running 24\7... but android 5.1 is getting old
-Normale things...like buying stuff online is getting harder as its a no longer supported platform version
Thoughts? opinions?

I am so interested in this, but I am not a dev and have no idea what goes into doing this type of work.
I've had my Remix for a for a few years now and just want to update because of the no longer supported platform issue.
Unfortunately I would be the wrong person the ask for help with this...

Yes! Yes! Yes! This is a great idea! I have so many things is like to use my remix mini for, but the system is pretty old. I can't even root mine ...
Sometimes I think about trying to learn to develop custom ROMs... I wish I wasn't so lazy.

I'm kind of curious, what do you guys use this device for nowadays?

Why would you wanna go to windows 8 with android around ? Android on G-note is much more powerful than with windows.
incase you haven't checked the "apollo" and it's capabilities please do a brief research...
windows phone 8 is on a whole new level of competition here...
considering the release of windows 8 for our computers... and the Microsoft E3 press conference... i doubt that "crappy" tag someone just gave above this comment...
i've been using windows mobile 6, 6.1, 6.5, windows phone 7, mango... and galaxy note is my first android device...
before galaxy note i was using htc hd2 and i still have that device... (but galaxy note is my primary device) so i thought if we can port android on a windows phone why can't we port windows to an android phone?
and for the respected people who are interested in this idea... i think we need another version of MAGLDR (like we had in htc hd2) and maybe we can install the "apollo" on our SD card...
we may have a dual boot device!
if you can find (or develop) the drivers, yes... it can be ported.
and yes, i dare say any winblows product is crap
you may "dare" **** your pants or eat crap sir/madam, nobody cares about that... and if you find this post soooo uninteresting or "crappy" why bother replying nonsense thoughts of your p-brain which (...is actually dehydrated) aren't useful for anyone?!
and thanks for the motivation you just gave me... :]
i posted this question to discuss, maybe help real developers/people not assclowns/disrespectful people who don't even respect the hardworking developers who create these operating systems for us...
Its my humble opinion !!!
I was also a user of Windows and bada OS' . And with android around they are not even in the competition. And this is my own opinion, so i'll move it off.
Android is, indeed, more powerful than Windows. But, different strokes for different folks.
Since we have sources now, I'm pretty sure more developers will come along soon and hopefully, for your sake, a developer that can port Windows 8. The more variety, the better, for us all.

Being fair, would it be worth to port it in d note cuz, it involves a lot of time and much more risk( With mmc brick bugs in stable releases themselves).

don't hold your breath. those sources are linux based as android is linux based. do you expect devs to develop a winblows OS based on a linux kernel?
maybe.... just maybe.... when the winblows kernel is freely available and somebody is really interested to port or develop the drivers, then maybe you might have a winblows "experience" on your note. and while you're at it, why not wish for iOS port to Note?
keep wishing........
people hate it when the absurdity of their delusions hits them smack in the face.

Firefox OS is meant to be a mobile OS and is derived from an Android kernel, it's not the same thing. It's also already available on a couple of Android devices (Nexus S/S 4G, Galaxy S2, Galaxy Nexus, all on ICS+).
That being said, you might want to read a little bit about the product you're asking for, before asking for a port because it "seems pretty cool". And while we're here, stop asking for ports altogether till we get the GPU sources, and don't mistaken the Ace i for a high end device.
People keep asking for CM ports, better gaming performance, less lag, etc. Well, perhaps it would have been a good idea to know what you're buying when you bought this budget phone.

No Remix 3.0 For Mini

Well I contacted Jide to inquire about Remix 3.0 on Mini. It seems Allwinner in all its wisdom has decided not to provide Android 6.0 support for the H64 SOC. So no Remix 3.0 unless Allwinner changes its mind. For me this finishes my folly with this experiment gone bad.
Are you sure?
The chinese version of jide.com says that the remix ultratablet, remix pro, remix mini, and remix os for pc will be getting the upgrade. maybe the remix mini version of 3.0 will still be lolipop.
The new version of the Mini based on Rockchip 3288. It's All winner on the current Mini that is the holdup
CyanogenMod ???
Any chance we could just get the best??? CyanogenMod???

Quite a few articles over the last few days. This is one of the chips they should have used in the first place. Just Google Jide Remix PC Box. I stand corrected it's a Rock chip 3368
Android TV, TV being the key word here. It is put in the same category and as competes with Roku,Fire TV, Apple TV etc. The Chinese boxes are marketed as kodi boxes. Would you consider Roku a Gaming console?. If Razer wanted a game console they should have kept Ouya,s OS which I believe to be far better.
I think this is one of those where it's better to agree to disagree.
this is what jide does with their customer.
they drop any old hardware and build new ones.
so yes,do not buy
especially with all under-powered gpu they use in all their cheap products.
it is Chinese after all.
chromebooks will be the way to go.

Wow, i got screwed twice. Bought one expecting 4K resolution support as stated in the website and in the kickstarter page, and a year and a half later im still waiting. Now i learn that OS 3.0 is also not happening... I give up.
I was hoping to get Marshmallow update for my Remix Mini.
Hope they manage to sort the issue with the chip company out and get on with Marshmallow.
what if i downloaded the zip for remix os 3.0 on a flash drive and installed it via the menu before it starts up
it's not that simple buddy...
the Remix Mini has an ARM chip. There's no existing ARM version of Remix OS 3. Remix OS 3 is only available for x86/AMD64 chips.

[Discussion] Not happy P8 won't be updated to Nougat? REPORT!

Hey people. I am P9 user BUT I am not happy that your phones won't be updated to Nougat. This means my P9 won't get Android 8... This is ridiculous! Not even 2 years of OS updates?
So Report HERE to these muth*ducker from Huawei so they realize how stupid this is!
Product & Technical Support - Complaints - Maintenance period!
It's a joke with these specs phones to get only one Major Update!
Don't be silent people! You are the one who make these companies rich! And they treat you like this? After all you paid with hard earned money!
I'm not sure if they are going to care about, there are some compability issues with Android 7 and the Hardware of the Huawei P8, guess its too much afford for them.
But we wont even get EMUI 5, thid is kinda sad.
I just hope the CM13 Port will be finished soon.
But its worth a try..
Correct me if I'm wrong. I understand that it's because the chip of P8 (Mali-T628) does not support some features of Android N (like vulkan API). So it's not because they don't want to...
what is more interesting is that my old phones like Samsung Galaxy s4 mini and Galaxy ACE 2, which are pretty old phones, handle nougat via cyanogenmod, but in matter of P8 thare are compatibility issues? how is this possible?

Lots of people have Samsung phones so there is a "market" for keeping these going.
The source code is available.
They tend to use hardware that lots of other devices use.
Huawei use proprietary hardware on a smaller number of devices.

what market do you mean? galaxy ace 2 and s4mini ended with kitkat with message that their hw can not handle lollipop, so ridiculous considering that cynaogenmod 14 runs on both of them better than official stock rom 4-5 years ago, i think this is all bull*hit, if they wanted to bring us nougat, they could, how they even could release flagship knowing that they will not be able to release at least 2 updates? this is not normal

By "market" I meant for developers. I can get the latest CM running on my S2. I don't think Samsung should still be supporting it.
The only reason those phones are still running up to date software is that 3rd parties have developed for them.
With most android phones you can expect one major update and that is normal and has been the case for many years. If you don't like it you should get a nexus or at least a phone with a more common chipset with community support.
Huawei should just release all the code necessary to allow for 3rd party development on their phones, especially when they stop updating them.

Android Go

Hi guys,
Recently Google announced that tomorrow 6th of December when they release 8.1 Oreo they're going to release also Android Go Oreo for low end devices, and would like to ask it would be possible to port this in the Nexus 4 ?
Because the device can handle it and it would be perfect for it to have an official lightweight rom
Here is also the link from the announcement

Yes I am also interested in this!!!

well depends, as a phone is ok but with only 16gb of storage installing only a few apps the storage gets occupied quickly or with only the Android OS installed but with GO at least you have latest Android OS and the low storage requirement is a plus...
Or on the other hand i could install other roms but something official is not bad either as a option !
