Mobile WiFi Hotspot - MTCB Android Head Units General

I'm giving up on my Huawei E160 3G dongle. It seems to struggle getting a signal so is proving unreliable. Instead I plan to get a 4G WiFi hotspot. Which ones are people using on their headunits? Any in particular recommended? ZTE MF910?

I bought a tp link 5654 4g router. I have no problems with it, since i bought it 2 weeks ago. Strong signal and dont notice a drop from 4g when using it. Also long stand-by and what i like is that when there is no connection between device and tp it goes in fly modus so langer stand-by. So i can leave it in the car. When i go in the car one prees on the button and it Will establish a 4g connection and WiFi and i can use it.

I have a ZTE MF923, I just received it a couple days ago. I have it plugged in in my center console which has switched power so my hopes are that the battery will last long enough through the nights and it will charge long enough during my drives that I will never have to shut it off.
If it doesn't last long enough off of the built in battery, I'm going to take my 16000mAh portable battery and plug it into that, and then have the portable battery plugged into the switched power...haha

I use a zte z915 from t-mobile. It's always plugged in, doesn't draw enough juice to kill the battery. Works great too and supports band 12 lte.

I'm using the Karma GO. It's LTE Speeds and once you buy the device there are no monthly fee's or plans that you have to join. Data is about $10-15 per gig. They have occasional sales like Black Friday where you can get it down to as low as $5 a gig. Once you buy the data it is yours (does not expire). There are other options as well with them as well. If other people hook up to it, they get 100mb free and you also get 100mb free. I pretty much just use it for Waze on my HU and haven't even used up a GB yet since July. https://yourkarma.com/invite/chris59588

I use an at&t Mobley and it work's great.

I have a device that I bought from Wal Mart that uses their "Internet on the Go" service that's similar, but without the high initial hardware cost of the Karma (and I believe it's the same hardware - looks nearly identical but without the Karma logo). The Internet on the Go hotspot (a UMX MXL-655 that uses the Sprint LTE network) cost me $45 (vs $150 for the Go), but the data is $18-20/gig (I just bought my first 3GB refill for $55, but they also offer 300MB for $10 or 2GB for $45.) I've been using it for less than a month, but so far I haven't had any issues.

True, if I were using an Android phone (like my Galaxy S5 with CM13), but I'm not. And my iPhone isn't jailbroken. And it's not worth it to me to run Android on my main handset, so....mobile hotspot it is!

is the iphone hotspot app still $20 on cydia? i think that was the only app i ever bought on iphone.

Unsure, I bought it many iOS versions ago and just re-download it from Cydia.

I bought this: http://zubie.com/ - WIFI hotspot and OBDII reader. If you have Verizon its $5 a month, very happy with it. Works great. My head unit connects to its WIFI network.

Curious buyer :D

So can I use this without a Tmobile contract, just for wifi?
Yes but you need to pay the full unlock price of $450.00 Personally, I think the hspa+(4G) is a great deal from t-mobile. Its $40 a month for unlimited use...you get text messaging and tethering and its faster than my crappy home internet DSL (att, duh)
Yes you can. But my personal experience with TMobile 4G (HSPA+) is very very positive. Of course it does not make sense to you if 4G is not covering the area you are living most of the time though.
Well the network and unlimited usage is one plus point that made me want to try it despite of so many existing bad reviews in the market place.
I bought one the other day for the full price & i will only use it with wifi & my phone's mobilehotspot so i have no need for the 4g..i just will pay for 1 month of 4g service then cancel.
thx for the replies Yea I'm going to get one and the 100mb a month plan.

I guess you use app like aNetShare which provides full Wifi infra? Or does Dell Streak 7" support Adhoc Wifi (provided with Wifi tether or similar) or Bluetooth PANs?
I'm considering also eBaying this, but dont have T-Mobile available in my country
Your going to burn through the 100 mb plan in a couple days. Just a warning. It is the latest and greatest in mobile broadband pricing scams. They give you a basically worthless amount of data for a standard fee, or unlimited for a little more basically forcing you to take the unlimited package. The limited packages need to start with gb not mb but hey, they're in the moneymaking business.

I am not sure that activating a data plan for one month is necessary. I bought direct from Dell and was not required to activate a data plan at that time. I can confirm that the S7 is fully functional even if the SIM is not activated. Just no HSPA+ data (mobile). If you do not activate a data plan, you have to pay full retail - US$450

webvan - Amazon.com has a streaming video service for movies. You can download and/or stream movies you've purchased from them. I think it's US only, though. Just watched one of my movies to test it out. Great playback, even with about 70% signal from my wifi, the movie streamed perfectly from their site.
I have not found a media player app that would buffer movies streamed from my home server properly, though.

Ptel Service for $41.24/mo w/ Coupon - Tmobile USA MVNO

The original HOT deal has ended. See below for the latest 25% discount. I've been meaning to post this for a couple months now and kept putting it off thinking that a) the promo was about to expire and b) most people might find this too much of a hassle. I however think this is a steal and I'm willing to move to Ptel while it's this price and switch elsewhere if the deal ends. The joys of using Google Voice means I don't really care if the phone number associated with my SIM changes. If you fall in to the same camp, read on.
*********
Plans
Ptel offers two "unlimited" plans:
$40 unlimited talk and text. First 250MB at 4G speeds then throttled.
$50 unlimited talk and text. First 2GB at 4G speeds then throttled.
Both plans include unlimited international text, MMS, and 411. Also, unlike all other prepaid companies I've tried, Ptel includes conditional call forwarding so Google Voicemail is not a problem.
Promo Codes
PTELG25 = 25% off ($4.99 SIM Card & Free shipping) = upfront cost of $41.24 for the unlimited 2GB plan -OR- $33.74 for the unlimited 250MB plan
This code requires you to buy a sim/top-up card combo each time, unfortunately. I don't see any way to use the coupon code when simply topping up.
Expired Codes
PTELSLICK20 = $20 off (Free SIM Card & shipping) = $30.00 upfront cost
-OR-
PTEL25BRAD = $25 off (Free shipping) = $29.99 Final upfront cost
-OR-
PTELSTUD25 = 25% off your order and free shipping (not really useful IMHO unless you're buying a phone)
Additional Savings (Cashback)
Befrugal changed their policies effective July 2013. No more cashback from them when buying minutes. If you find another site that will do so, please share! In addition to getting their unlimited deal for $30 $41.24, you can get 20% cashback via BeFrugal making the final cost $24 $32.99! BeFrugal will only allow you to cash out after your account reaches $25. For those of you that are new to cashback sites, just know that in order to qualify, you must click through on the cashback site before you go to the carrier's website. I will often open up a different browser, just to make sure I don't mess anything up. For other cashback options, see here:
http://cashbackwatch.com/store.php?store=PlatinumTel
Buying Multiple Months
The deal has been going on since December at least. So, while it's not "guaranteed" $30 service, it has effectively been that for a few months now. Another option to consider is buying several months worth of SIMs if that makes sense for you. Some might consider this to be counter to the premise of buying an unlocked Nexus. My brother is one of those people that thinks buying a years worth of service up front is a bad idea. "I guess it comes down to principle. Buying 13 months is like having a 13 month contract, more or less. I'm not cool with that."
Either way, it's your call. I bought enough for 3 months and as long as the promo continues, each month I buy one more SIM.
Here are more details which I found out from a Ptel customer service rep:
1) You must order a new SIM each time you use the coupon. There's no way around that.
2) The "Activation PIN" that comes with the SIM card can be applied to your original SIM. No need to change numbers each month by using the new SIM they send you.
3) Top-up cards in any denomination are good for a full year, but...
4) Once you activate the card, you must use it up within a certain period of time. For the $50 card, the term is 180 days. Totally fine if you're just using it for the unlimited plan.
Click to collapse
So, the max number of cards you can buy at once would be 13, I think. Feel free to correct me if my math is off.
Odds & Ends
Other things to keep in mind:
They send you a standard size SIM card. It's too big for the Nexus 4 so you'll need a SIM card cutter. Or you can always ask someone at a Tmobile store to cut it for you (if they have a cutter one available). I bought mine on eBay for a couple bucks. EDIT: As of April 2013, Ptel now sells Micro SIMs too (labeled as Combi Card 2FF/3FF).
Ptel has been around since 2001, but only just switched to GSM (SIM-based) service in December. It seems this promotion is their way of drumming up business on their new plans/network.
I've been on Ptel since January 2013 and have had great luck so far. Good customer service. Fast HSPA+ service in Boston. 16mb down. Zero complaints. If you have any questions, just ask.
Just figured I'd give this post a bump. Just bought another month's worth of Ptel service. The PTEL25BRAD code still works. So, $29.99 service is still in effect (before the $6 cashback).
I don't understand why no one else jumping on this? Give it a try people!
Definitely giving this a try. Thanks for the info.

Haha. Well, if my XDA account was a new one, then maybe that'd be a red flag. That and and if I wasn't finding ways to pay nearly 50% what they charge per month...that too. I'm just a penny pinching mf.
It does sound too good to be true though, I admit. I hope it lasts for a while longer. At this rate, the savings will pay off my N4 by September. The only thing keeping me from buying even more cards at a time (well one of the reasons at least) is that it might be nice to have LTE at some point. It's still not clear if Tmobile will allow MVNO's to use that network.
how is tmobile's own unlimited everything for $50 any worst than this? considering you'll probably get better customer service, choice of buying a new phone and making payments, no contract or buying upfront, discount monthly bill if you're a student or have corporate discount, and last but not least like you've mentioned, simplicity?

At Ptel's normal monthly fee, the only benefit would be 2gb of unthrottled service instead of 500mb. With the coupon codes in the OP, plus cash back, Ptel's a no brainer in my opinion.

Yeah I went with the first tier. In their terms it only throttles to 3g after 250mb. Can't beat 20 bucks for a full month of unlimited everything even if it is at 3g speeds. I really appreciate the tip.

This is just another option offered up by the OP. I personally think it will work out better for me, but if it doesnt I can just toss the sim and go back to Tmobile. But for $20 I felt it was at least worth trialing. That is one of the benefits of using my N4 with prepaid carriers. I can try out whomever I like or switch plans if I wind up needing more 4G data later on. For right now though I use mostly wifi at home and work so I just needed the data for times in between those two.

My error, I thought I had seen a note on their website about it being throttled back to 3g if I use up the 250mb. Still I dont mind the slower speed for now. And I can always switch up to their 2gb plan if their services is adequate after my test run with them. Thanks for the info. I will try to put a quick update in a week or so after I have had some time to test out their service.

Because PTel's $50 plan gives more data, and with the coupon alone it costs significantly less. Plus you can save even more with the cash back.
If they ever stop having the coupons, then you can always switch to TMobile, but as long as you can save $20 to $30 per month over TMobile, why not go with PTel?
You can get TMobile refills at a discount as well, but I haven't seen any for effectivly 60% off.

[Q] Replacing charging port

The charging port on my Galaxy Exhibit II is not working. Anyone know of a manual or video on how to replace it?
Thanks for any help in advance.
Temple
Assuming it's the USB port itself, forget it. I was able to solder a wire to the port by no small miracle, the leads are barely bigger than a pinhead. Replacing the port may be more possible than modifying it, but only continue if you're really good at fine soldering. Otherwise, well, the Nexus 4 is a beautiful phone....
EDIT:
Another option would be an external charger like this one- works a treat when I'm too lazy to plug my phone in. Just note the shipping time is like 3 weeks.

I wondered if this was a Chinese sweat shop kind of operation. My soldering skills are rusty and when good are more thumb than index.
I promised this phone to my daughter if I got a new one, and oddly enough I was looking at the Nexus 4 on Google Play just yesterday.
Seems like the most reasonably priced path to Jelly Bean, so I will give it a good look. Didn't see in the specs anything about an Micro SD expansion port. Would like to get something I could plug a 64gb in. I love the Note II, but the price on those is too high. I have an external charger like the one in the link. Got mine on eBay with a gel case, 2 batteries, 2 screen savers the AC external charger which also had a USB port and cable which allowed me to charge one in the charger and one in the phone. I only paid 13.95 I think for the bundle. I bought 2 more batteries from them direct through PayPal, with 2 styli and 2 3 foot USB sync/charge cables for 9 bucks including shipping. The shipping was a little slower but the price was great. My next move is to find a great calling plan. Right now I'm on a prepaid per minute plan from Ptel which is a T-Mobile re-seller. I seem to pay about 20-30 bucks a month, so I'm trying to get a plan in that range unlimited. I know most will think that's crazy, but I think it's crazy we pay more. Straight Talk which is a prepaid brand that TracPhone sells through WalMart, has come out with a cell based home service. It uses a cell "router" a cell box you locate in a place in your home where it can get good cell reception. Plug it into a power outlet, plug in a cordless phone base and you have home service for 15 bucks a month....no contract! If I buy my phone, tell me why the major carriers couldn't give me a plan like that on a cell. The home plan has nation wide unlimited talk, call waiting VM, and 3-way for that price. This is a cell, so why not on my cell? Because we are idiots and give them more, much more. We take their "FREE" phones which we end up paying a small fortune for, in monthly fees and add-ons. No one in their right mind would pay their home ISP extra to use a phone, laptop or tablet on the WIFI in their home network. But everyday I see people paying 20, 30 dollars extra to use the internet on their cells, on their laptop or tablet. Why does how you pay change because its a cell? Why would you pay extra for something on a cell that you would never pay extra for at home? I was eating a Sonic last year with my daughters. It was a nice day so we ate on the outside dining area. I hit the buzzer to request a refill on our soda's and they said it would be 65 cents. I refused of course and now I often stop at Circle K (our version of 7-11) and get a 44 oz for 75 cents. I eat the burgers from Sonic and drink my soda from Circle K. Best way to end this madness, is to vote with your wallet.

Being a dealer maybe you can give me a little info on something that may be out of your area....I found a company Life Wireless that does the life line cell phones. They like most offer an upgraded plan where for around 30 bucks you get unlimited talk and text nation wide. They work through AT&T so my Exhibit would work with their sim. But the Nexus has a micro sim, so I'm not sure if that would work. My understanding was that there is a sim cutter that will cut a standard sim down to micro size. Is this correct? Also is there a life line service on T-Mobile's network? I will probably hang with charging my Exhibit with the external charger I'm using now. The Nexus does not have a card slot and I would find the 8-16gb built in limiting. I wish the Straight Talk home base unit used a sim. Although I'm sure they would figure out from the changing towers what was going on.....

The exhibit will work with life wireless long as its unlocked and yes a sim cutter will cut a sim card down to a micro sim. T-Mobile doesn't offer a life line program directly like at&t does. in all honestly im really liking the new s4 it has some really good battery life for running android 4.2 plus the new s voices is very useful in car mode. Straight talk offers cellular coverage i beleive its 45 dollars unlimited everything and again it will work on the exhibit long as its unlocked and change your access point for data.

I tried to root the Exhibit using several tools and was unable to get it rooted. I switched from T-Mobile's sim to one from Ptel, a T-Mobile re-seller.
The sim switch worked so I guess it should work with Life Wireless. What is the name of AT&T's direct life line offering? Also are sim cutters fairly simple to use? Also the Exhibit has in it's menu, the option to use as GSM or CDMA. So I guess it could even work on Verizon or Sprint.
Although they would have to connect it to the network.
Contract replacement
I have been looking at the S4, Nexus 4 and HTC One. I was thinking about getting one of those with a contract and buying out the contract and keeping the phone. That seems to be the cheapest way to get a top phone at a good price new. They want a small fortune for the unlocked units charging a premium markup. Would there be any pitfalls from buying this way that I may have missed?

T-Mobile is now an under carrier so they did away with contracts so now there month to month you can finance your phone through them its a 48 month term but you can pay off your phone anytime. S4 and htc one are my choices but i tried them both ( store demos) and the htc one battery is not as good as the s4. I beleive the s4 is 100 down then you pay your monthly payments. If you go to at&t and ask them about there life line service theyll see if you qualify. Only reseason unlocking is so expensive right now is because its illegal only applying to those customers that got there phone free or at an discounted price after Jan.26,2013. Rooting your exhibiit is pretty easy you dont need tools like superone click or ginger root they wont work flash cmw and this http://d-h.st/s9X flash cwm first then reboot then go into recovery then flash the zip if you see super su or super user its rooted then you can flash any rom you want fyi jelly bean roms dont get good battery life but if you use an extended battery youll be fine. Sim cutter is fairly easy to use only goofed up once only because the customer was nagging me with the same question over and over lol

Wcdma works with GSM let's say you use your phone in a area like australlia were they use wcdma that spectrum allow your device to use gsm to operatate on there spectrum.
Basicly all thoughs setting would do is you can switch over to use a different network if you dont if you don't have network somewhere.

It seems the exhibit is prone to this problem, many users have charging port issues, including me. I had to charge the battery using another Samsung phone, I'll be buying that external charger soon.

i was having a bit of charging issues too, I just pulled that baby apart with the intention of replacing the charging port but then i realized it was intact so i used some all purpose thinner along with a toothbrush to clean the charging port.
NB: be careful im a technician, watch YouTube videos on how to disassemble if you are unsure. :highfive:
There are some universal external chargers on eBay and Amazon. They let you move the charging contact pins to fit "almost" any battery. They cost under ten bucks with shipping for most.

$80 tmobile unlimited plan

I tried in the Note 3 forum but it's a cluster fu.. over there so I am gonna try here. Does anyone or has anyone used this plan? I want to switch to this one so I can use my phone as a hot spotfor my computer when I'm at home but I don't want to hit some fine print limit. So I'm hoping someone here has done the same in the past.

That will give you truly unlimited data from your phone, with I think 3gb of native tethering.
Do a search and you'll find a lot of answers on how to acomplish what you're trying to do.
Keywords: WiFi tether router
Hope this helps.

Some of these people who use it as a dedicated internet shouldn't advertise it.
this is not how T-mobile setup their plans.
$80 unlimited is phone only data. The plan included 5GB tethering over t-mobile hotspot app.

??? Self-limited or Communty-limited, Unlimited Data ???
Why should someone who is paying for an unlimited data service, not utilize it as to their own prospective needs, or be punished/restricted for doing so???? Anyone urging the same for anyone elses say, TV usage??? Or HULU views??? Isn't it at all feasible, in this world of tolerance (haha), that someones legitimate needs might just be different from someone elses???
Wanna punish someone??? Why not suggest say, the Service Provider, who makes BILLIONS (in profit) annually, providing a service that CLEARLY does NOT cost what is charged, by any reasonable standard?!?!? And I'm OFF my SOAPBOX!!!

Consciously using and abusing versus using subconscious is different. Like me I don't monitor what I use. is use Wi-Fi when I can, etc. I don't rely on my MOBILE phone for my internet. Why don't they get an ISP for heavy use. If you use 100gb pm on a cellphone in a billing period, you must not work and thus you should have access to a WiFi network. To brag about using high amount of data is duh mm .. Learn the game! I'm thinking of the future I don't want them to punish all of a for a few defiant couch potatoes

But I like the idea when I use my LTE I don't have to count !megabytes, when people use LTE on purpose because they feel they can now we risk losing unlimited

I can see both the points. Eventually the "abusers" will lift the already high prices to an even higher point. That being said - we, as Americans, get absolutely raped on the cost of our service. Not to mention we are among the slowest in the world when we take what we pay into consideration. So part of me is saying "**** these corporate criminals..." The point of he T-Mobile network isn't about coverage it's about data that's what they advertise is the "data strong " network they have set up their network to handle the amount of data that is being used unlike the other carriers that have capped data

First of all jack ass I was throwing an arbitrary number out there. I have no idea how much data a MMO pulls. Secondly what's the difference between using a cell phone for my Internet and using Comcast besides I can get similar speed for a much better price using T-Mobile. I am only home for maybe two hours after work and that's enough time to eat mess around on the computer for a bit and crash so **** off with your generalizations. It'd make zero sense for me to spend an extra $100/mo on Comcast just to use maybe 20hrs/wk. If you want to pay my bill then I'll call them tomorrow. If not piss off.

not saying the companies don't make a lot of money, but you do realize that its not 100% profit, setting up 4G LTE and LTE+ speeds for networks is HUGELY expensive.
That being said, competition will always drive prices lower. I sell phones/activations and trust me, 95% of people use 1 gb (or less) each month. we are such a minority that it doesn't matter how much we use.

You're absolutely right. It can go both ways, but at the end of the day truly unlimited is truly unlimited. No matter what the nay sayers may think, their opinion can't over rule the fact that truly unlimited is what it is. Lol...
TM, pushed the whole truly unlimited campaign like mad angry birds head on first. Now that customers are utilizing a service that they signed up for, doesn't give TM any right to try and take that away. Truly Unlimited Data is what customers are paying for.
So for them to even complain now is called: hypocrisy.
It also seems that the ones complaining are perhaps jealous or can't afford the $80 plan or maybe jealous of those who have a grandfathered unlimited plan? Who knows. ..
The fact remains, no matter how you tip the scale, documentation will beat conversation any day.
Truly Unlimited is Truly Unlimited. Pretty black and white to me.
And for goodness sake, what's the difference of streaming 1080p Netflix on your phone vs your 1080p TV? ROFL....

If someone uses 10000gb in a month or 10gb a month the infrastructure cost doesn't change.
I use on average 15-20 GB a month. T-Mobile is flat out the best carrier with the best prices for what they offer. If I'm paying for unlimited data, regardless of whether I use 20 or I use 200 it shouldn't make any difference. T-Mobile makes it a point to advertise that truly unlimited means just that: truly unlimited. They expect people to switch to their network for that very reason. I don't see the person using 300gb a month as an abuser; he/she is taking advantage of a service that is being paid for. They aren't doing it in an unethical way or cheating the system.

Verizon Pixel 4 Xl

Am I the only one getting a Pixel 4 xl from Verizon? They have a 450 trade in offer for upgrades. I bought a used Galaxy S5 for 50 bucks and will be trading it in for the $450. I honestly used to love rooting my phones but I haven't bothered the past year and haven't missed it. So that doesn't really matter to me anymore.

Sometimes people find an exploit and can open up rooting/unlocked bootloaders on Verizon, sometimes they can't. But ultimately, since Pixel phones come without any bloat, I find rooting to be mostly unnecessary. If it happens, then great! If it doesn't, I feel no loss. And in the meantime, I'm saving about $400 ($450 in trade-in, minus shelling out $60 for the phone to trade in).

I only need root for system optimizations, allowing tethering (since Verizon thinks they can bar you from using a feature of your phone) and Viper4Android. Other than that I wouldn't need to root. I long for the day when I can just buy a phone and not have to worry about it.

Not sure how you are doing that. There is a provisioning thing that pops up if you don't pay the $30 to use it and you're on Verizon. You might be paying for it and not know it. I'd check.
The other great reason for obtaining root is using VPN and VPN tethering. If you use both of those apps, you can bypass ALL carrier caps on hotspot tethering. They also can't throttle video usage because you are behind a VPN.

Yes, that as well. I don't have to do that right now though because I am still grandfathered into unlimited (no throttle) data with Verizon. I still use a VPN though sometimes.

Most Verizon plans include mobile hotspot at no additional cost. I'm on the fUDP, which includes 15 gigs of hotspot (see attached screenshot). And all current unlimited plans larger than the Start Unlimited include it as well (see second screenshot). Lastly, it doesn't limit me to slow speeds, either (see the third screenshot from my tablet, tethered to my phone). No extra charge! ?

And all current unlimited plans larger than the Start Unlimited include it as well (see second screenshot). Lastly, it doesn't limit me to slow speeds, either (see the third screenshot from my tablet, tethered to my phone). No extra charge!

Yeah, I guess it has been awhile. Still on a plan from like 2009 lol.

The other great reason for obtaining root is using VPN and VPN tethering. If you use both of those apps, you can bypass ALL carrier caps on hotspot tethering. They also can't throttle video usage because you are behind a VPN.

I don't use a VPN, but it's available in the settings without the need to root. See the attached screenshot.

Ha ha, yeah, you might want to check and ensure you are still on the most cost-effective plan for your needs! The fUDP is best for me, since I've got 6 people. We split the $100 monthly nut 6 ways ($16.67 each), and each person has a $20/month access fee. Even after taxes, it's under $40 per month for a legit unlimited plan that includes hotspot and 720p video. There's a guide on reddit r/Verizon on how to enroll in the fUDP, if it's an effective plan for you. If you've got fewer lines, then some of the current plans are cheaper.

I'm holding onto this plan strictly because of 5G. If I have this plan when 5G finally rolls out then I will cut my home internet back to the most basic package (for the always-on security stuff in my home). Then I'll use my phone as my primary internet again. Had been using 300-400GB/mo from 2009-2018.5.

It's not the VPN that you need root for, it's VPN tethering so you don't have to worry about the ISP (Verizon, AT&T, T-mobile, and Sprint) throttling your hotspot usage @ 15 to 20 GB's per month. You can use it forever without hitting the fake usage limit that the ISPs dictate.

Amen, I am waiting for Verizon's fixed 5G service to hit where I live. Then I can kick my wired ISP to the curve, **** COX (suckers), COMCAST, SPECTRUM, AT&T, and the othered wired internet providers. They are monopolies with the state governments acting as their pimps.
Verizon's 5G fixed service is only $50 per month.
Yeah i'm on the fence here. My LgV30 has 1 month left on device payment plan. With the trade in I can get the P4 XL 128 for $23 a month which is less than I was paying for my LG, but then free is less than $23/month lol.

Mine wasn't working the other day, but is now. Try a couple power off cycles (not just restart)?
I purchased as 4 XL thru my job on VZW. I haven't felt a need to root my phone for at least the last few years (last phone I rooted was an HTC device I cant remember. LOL

Don't hold your breath for an exploit. They didn't find one for the 2 or the 3. They found one for the OG Pixel, but only under a certain firmware version.
