Hi,
I've got my phone with samsung's charger of 1A (bought it from an open store locally - it was the cheapest), so I ordered a Sony Ericsson charger of 1.5A which charges up much faster..
My question is, could it goes even faster?
I've seen some Galaxy Note 2 and S 4 charger of 2A like these:

im not sure about this but i believe the charger that comes with the phone is a 2 amp charger
It can handle 2A through USB port.
Via the charging dock, it can take 1.8A. Is that dock you are linking to an original part?
I have two DK26 docks and both say 1.8A, not 1.6A. Although if you connect a 2A charger to the dock, it'll be fine, it just won't be using the whole 2A input.

I've never seen a Sony's charger with 2Amp, do you mind to picture the detailed information in the back of your charger please?

The Dock I've linked is a chinese copy, not the original, the one says 1.6A on description on Ebay, Does your original DK26 dock comes with charger too? What input and output is it says on each one? (picture could help much)
Also, how do you know it can handle 2A through USB? is that for sure?

The docks come barebone. No chargers included.
The charger included on the box of the phone is rated at 1.5A.
I have a Nexus 7 2A charger and an old Nokia 1.2A charger aside from the included 1.5A charger. All work fine either via USB or via the dock.
I can't notice any mayor difference on charging times, though. 1.2A charges almost as if not as fast as the 2A one. Iphone's 1A chargers do seem to take like 4 hours to charge the phone compared to the standard 2.5h I get from other higher rated wall chargers.
There are no 2A Sony chargers as of now.

It should handel 2.A but I won't remand it. I don't think it's good for battery. But one thing is pretty sure. The phone will heat more up as the charging circuit have to dissipate more excess power. Can not affirm it as I don't exactly know it's made but I'm just saying...

The downside would be possibly shortening the usable life of your battery, because the higher amp charging will likely heat the battery to a higher temp.
There's no free lunch.
To me, waiting a bit longer for charging is worth it to ensure the longest charge cycle life, particularly since the battery is sealed into the device. If it was a cheap and easy replaceable battery, maybe.
Amps don't matter unless it is lower than the specification
Think about your car battery having 700amps but your car stereo is fused for 20amps. Your car stereo gets its power from the battery directly. There is no power regulation. Your device will take only what it needs. It won't effect the life of your battery. Think about the charger you plugged into the wall socket. A wall socket can generate enough current to melt metal. Lower power draw is cooler but really just make sure the voltage rating matches and the amp rating isn't too low. USB should be 5 volts anyways. The big issue with amperage, can the charger handle the draw? Example would be a 3000watt car amp drawing power from a 18 gauge speaker wire. It might work but the wire will heat up since it isn't designed to carry that much current.
In short for USB the charger amperage can be higher than the device needs but probably no less than 1/2 the rated amps for the device.
As above, you could plug in a 200A charger and the phone will still only draw the same current as from a 2A charger.
The amount of current drawn by the device is firmware controlled to protect the battery from heat damage.
The stock charger is 1.5A so the phone must draw no more than that.
It's all about cables too. I have a 2 amp TomTom charger hooked up to a 3 metre long USB cable but it charges slower than the standard 'in the box' charger Sony supply at 1.5 amp.
More cable and wrong core rating = more energy lost or wasted. I actually had to ask a sparky about this one, but it's true. Cable length, rating and core make all the difference.
For instance.
If you hooked up a 3 amp charger (I had one for an old phone) to a cable that can only handle 1 amp then you will only get 1 amp into the device, probably melt your cable too over time.
Honestly, the best bet is to use as near as dammit to the original rating on the included in the box charger. Electricity is a funny thing, it can screw your phone up in ways only time and noting the battery life will show.

I have read reviews of other xiaomi devices that said it was qc 3.0 enabled, but the charger that ships with the phone is not a quick charger and the user would have to buy their own to take advantage of this feature.
so does anyone know if the charger we receive with the mix is in fact a quick charger as the mi mix is on the devices that is qualcomm quick charge 3.0 enabled.

That site quoted 83% in 30mins, I am not getting that, not even close. I bought the anker USB C quick charge charger which suppose to be quick. I don't feel quick at all...

yes, as i posted i am well aware the phone is quick charge 3.0 capable. my question though is the charger that ships with the phone a quick charge charger. there are other xiaomi phones that are also quick charge but the user has to provide their own quick charger.
if i were to guess i do not think this charger is a quick charger based on my results compared to my nexus 6.

I got an Aukey QC3 5-Port Charger.
I'm trying to get my device empty right now (tough though as it lasts pretty long) and will test it afterwards.

I compared the included charger with my Anker quick charge 3 charger using the Ampere app.
The given stats were marginally better with the included charger.
I'm not really sure what all the figures mean but they were there or there abouts the same, the Anker charger is Qualcom QC3 certified.
Not nearly getting the quoted charge times though with either charger.
At 53% it claimed 44 mins to 100%
Yes, it ships with a fast charger. It delivers:
5V - 2.5A (12,5W)
9V - 2A (18W)
12V - 1.5A (18W)
So yes, it's a QC2.0 fast charger.
I'm currently at 69% and on the normal charger it's 3 hours+, on the QC2.0 charger I have, it's 1.5 hours and it gave me the same for the included charger. Kind of disappointed that it's only 2.0.
after seeing how insane the battery life is on this phone i just went with the qi wireless charging usb C adapter and I have no plans on going back, works awesome.

What I dislike, and you can't use is the Wireless Charging with your phone and case, and a metal plate stuck to the back of the phone. You see, I really like the various magnetic holders in the car (I have one that works with the CD Slot of the vehicle to mount the holder, another that is a little ball mount that sticks to any flat service). They use a thin metal plate to mount to the back of the phone case, and the magnetic is part of the phone mount that is in the vehicle. If you place the phone with the holder and the metal plate on the wireless charger base, it will overheat both the charging base and the phone.
I REALLY like the magnetic phone mount, and do like wireless charging but it a moot point if you have a mounting plate on the back of your phone or case.
I am using amperage and I own two qualcom version 2.0 chargers one from my Nexus 6, and one I bought on amazon. The OEM Nexus 6 draws about 1.6amps on charge, and the Anker 2.0 draws under 300 mAH. The computer 3.0 USB port from a desktop draws 370mAH to charge the phone.
I will probably invest in a true oem qualcom 3.0 charger.
Pretty cheap of Shomi to not include a 3.0 charger

get a Pioneer Appradio that mirrors your phones screen and problem solved. now that i'm so used to it i can't imagine my phone's screen not being the screen of the head unit in my car everything is right there makes it so much easier

I'm revising my previous post, it seems that the provided charger may indeed be a QC 3.0.
I've been reading that if you use USB-c to USB-c cable instead of the provided USB-a to USB-c cable, you actually get charge rate.
I've also been reading up on the QC 3.0 vs 2.0. Both will max out at 18watts. But 3.0 has a variable voltage whereas 2.0 is fixed at 5V, 9V and 12V. You can see that in the below link, there's a nice table of Watts for each QC.

However with USB-C to USB-C, it can charge at full 29Watts. That's a huge difference.

it says 48W of power, and allocates 19W for QC 3.0 which means the other Type-C port is allocated for 29Watts.
So I think I'm going to be looking for something with a direct USB-C port as a charger.
Certainly, this may be all for not if the Xiaomi Mi Mix is limited to 18W of input anyways.
I have the Anker USB-C to USB-C charger, my initial testing indicate that the original charger (China Plug) and my Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge charger (UK Plug) are capable of doing 23.8 Watts max, i tried to monitor the difference and what I noticed is the Mi Mix original charger seems to be adjusting the charging power more often (not really sure why and whether it's good). My Anker USB-C to USB-C went up to 28.9 Watts Max. All chargers seems to scale down their charging rate after battery reach 80%+ so I think the best way to test is to empty the better and start from 0%. I doubt I will be doing that test though as it's quite hard to empty battery on Mix and I am pretty happy with my Anker charger so don't think I will be using Stock one or my Samsung one.
Unless I go on holiday with multiple devices that still use old USB port, Anker USB-C to USB-C is my go to charger.
So I think what you confirmed was that the mix can take power at 29 watts.

Is there an app I can use to see if this phone is quick charging ? I have a Google pixel charger USB c to USB c. Trying that out now .I can't really judge because this phone is at least 1000 mAh bigger than what I'm used to lol.

That's what I'm using too! I was at 24% battery, went to sleep for 4 hours with it charging, and I'm only at 74%. There has to be a way to know when we quick charge lol

i've bought Nillkin Disk Charger III which support fast charge (9V/1.7A max 10W) so does original Sony XZ2 charger and XZ2 itself. Sadly, when charging using Nillkin, XZ2 uses normal charging mode, not fast. 25% in hour. Only 400-500mA on wireless charger vs 2600mA on cable. With or without phone case, doesn't matter.
What can I do to charge it faster?

Can you download Ampere app from the play store and run it while charging on this Anker pad. Let us know if this one can really charge the XZ2 beyond the standard 5w speed. Report the mah if it can exceed the 800mah standard qi rate. Remember, fast wireless charging at 9-10w should be around 1400 to 1500mah.
I have tried 7 different brands of fast 10w wireless chargers so far (but not an Anker yet). None of them can exceed 800mah on the XZ2. I wonder if the official Sony one can really do it at 1500mah.
So, please use Ampere and report back your results with the Anker, thank you!

max with the Anker QI charger was 760mA. I use it to charge it at my office. I never cared about the charging speed A friends Galaxy S9 can use 1420mah with the same charger.

I too have a similar question. But it's about maximum allowed power for XZ2 wireless charging.
I just talked with Sony support and they too have no clue how XZ2 Qi wireless work. They told me better to buy (if at all) other brands' chargers with output NOT exceeding 9W, since it is the maximum output by the official Sony wireless charger.
But apparently some 3rd party brand reps told me that Sony uses Qi 3.0 and 10W chargers are completely fine. And all fast charger on Amazon output 10W with Qi 3.0 adapter.
So I am really confused whether those faster charger is safe for XZ2 at all.
'And it is very confusing that the Sony original adaptor has 3 working power: 5 V 2.7A DC, 9V 1.8 A DC, 12 V 1.35 A DC.
What do you guys think?

That's called Qualcomm Quick Charge.
While USB is specified for 5V QuickCharge 2.0 can use 5V, 9V and 12V (not used in phones).
QC 3.0 is even better as it has adaptive Voltage scaling from 4V to 9V theoretically.
Practically it's around 4.6 to 7.5V changing fluently during the charger process.
For normal cable powered charging the device itself decides how much amperage it wants to draw. The wall charger can only set an upper limit like 'only has 1.5A at 5V'
As wireless charging sends out power I think there is a communication between sender and receiver which handles the power output. Haven't really read much about that though.

I bought a 10W wireless charger from Amazon and it only charges at 5V 1A whereas the same charger charges a friends iPhone at 7.55V 1A. Has Sony built something into the phone/software that only enables 9W charging with the official dock?

Not so far. Got a Seneo fast wireless charger and some other brand I can't remember the name of; both tried with multiple QC charging packs I have lying around (and even Sony's brick supplied with the phone). According to AccuBattery, the XZ2 never pulls more than around 700 mAh, while my Lumia 950 XL hovers around 1700.
I'm thinking you're right, there is something special the XZ2 looks for in their WCH20 wireless charger unfortunately. I've tried turning Battery Care on and off too but that hasn't changed anything as far as raising the current draw.
I really have to try it when the battery is below 20% though to be a fair test.

Update: So I bought an Anker Powerwave wireless charger and QC3.0 adapter which Anker claim supports 10W charging on the XZ2. I have tested it and it charges at 7.45V at 1.2 Amps so not quite 10W but it charges from 0 to 100% in 2 hours 50 minutes which is much better than the first wireless charger i bought which took over 4 hours 30 minutes at 5W. Hope this helps.

actually, 7.45v at 1.2A is 9 watts. Which is reportedly the XZ2's peak draw.
A couple questions:
What did you use to check the charging stats? (I'm using AccuBattery currently). I don't think the latest Xperia phones have any fast charge indications like some other OEM's do.
Was the 7.45V/1.2 amps reading at 0% battery?
Was Battery Care enabled?
Did you happen to check the charge levels at various times during the 2h 50m and see if it fluctuated?

I use accurate battery on every device I maintain.
At least to give an alert, if 80% battery capacity is reached during charging.

I use an inline USB amp meter...
The 7.45V 1.2 amps was from 0% to 70% after that it was 7.45v 1.0 amp until 100%
The 1.2 amps could only be achieved by careful positioning on the pad, if it was slightly to the left/right it would drop to 1.0 amp.
Battery care was disabled.

I think the 9W cap is Sony, not the Anker.
I'm going to send back my Seneo, obviously something is not working right with the XZ2 regards fast charging. Tried it with several different QC chargers, moving it around on the pad etc..

I would love to test out the WCH20 but in the UK Sony want £129. Have found it on Amazon for £70 but it's still silly money for a charging dock!
If you're considering the Anker Powerwave, it is very good. My only gripe is even though it stops charging once the phone reaches 100%, the cooling fan keeps running until you remove the phone from the pad which seems like an oversight.

i've bought Nillkin Disk Charger III which support fast charge (9V/1.7A max 10W) so does original Sony XZ2 charger and XZ2 itself. Sadly, when charging using Nillkin, XZ2 uses normal charging mode, not fast. 25% in hour. Only 400-500mA on wireless charger vs 2600mA on cable. With or without phone case, doesn't matter.
What can I do to charge it faster?

I have the Nilkin charging stand for my XZ2 Premium and I am more than happy, it takes about 2hrs to go from 50% to full charge, it will never be as fast as wired charging, and the battery life on the Premium is great, I can easily get 2 days but would rarely need that.
Sony WCH20 can do 1700 mAh but only to 50% of battery charge. After that it is slower 1400 mAh and that again slower.

The 7.45V 1.2 amps was from 0% to 70% after that it was 7.45v 1.0 amp until 100%
The 1.2 amps could only be achieved by careful positioning on the pad, if it was slightly to the left/right it would drop to 1.0 amp.

Guess I'll have to try the Anker Powerwave (which one did you get if I may ask?). I tried yet another brand, which again, fast charges my old Lumia 950 XL just fine around 1600 mAh, but the XZ2 refuses to go beyond ~700 mAh. Wondering if it's my phone or the XZ2's coil is just in a weird spot.
I'll have to spring for an inline USB meter. maybe it'll help me find the "sweet spot."

I've noticed Samsung S21 ultra supports 15w wireless charging - I was just wondering if all 15w wireless chargers were compatible? Or whether they specifically have to support "Samsung fast charge 2.0" - like the official chargers?

I've been doing some research, I know that Samsung devices are supported by QC 3.0... but just wondered if this is true for wireless charging? Will generic 15w wireless chargers work? Would be much cheaper!
While generic 15w chargers will work, there are other factors that needs to be considered. Such as what kind of brick you are using with the charger and things like how thick the case you are using.
Sammy only have one 15w charger and that is OG stand. The other sammy fast wireless charger is 9w (input still requires 15w though)
Can't comment whether which 15w is reliable or not as they are 3rd party and varies from company to company.
A fair point. I guess if you use a QC 3.0 brick with at least 15w output - with a 15w wireless charging pad it should theoretically work then?

Probably works but wireless charging is inefficient and needlessly raises the battery temp which is detrimental to its longevity in the long run.

An 8 W Samsung wireless charger does not heat up the S21 ultra more than the 15 W charger I have (this cames with my Note 9). I would think a 25 Watt charger would heat it up more. The reason I bought the wireless charger was for my Note 9 and now the S21 ultra is that my Note 9, despite considerable babying, is showing some issues with the socket (it often will show cable charging instead of fast charging and despite changing cables, cleaning out the socket with compressed air and a toothbrush etc). So yes, in general you are correct but socket wear must not be discounted.

I hear what you're saying about the port. I do a lot of partial midrange charges so 3-4 times a day isn't uncommon.
The biggest thing is not to hit/drop it when a cable is connected.
Battery or port assembly the phone needs to come apart...

I can't seem to find specs on their site now, but when I bought mine they claimed they were 15w. I only bought them for how they look. I personally don't care how fast they charge, I prefer slow charging for better battey life, I'll use wired chaging when I need something faster. I have fast wireless charging disabled on my phone. But I just checked it, if I enable it, it does say "fast wieless charging" on the sceen when I place it on the pad, and the time to full charge is a little quicker than with fast wireless charging disabled. Still not as fast as wired though.

So the best way to check this is to download Ampere!
Grab it from Google play store, install it, and then open it while you are charging the phone on different wireless pads.
You work out the Watts by using;
Amps x Voltage

Hello! I'm looking for a wireless car charger for my Samsung Galaxy Note 20 ultra. My Baseus charger (on the screenshot) broke after only a year of usage.
It has 10w output and so when the navigation is on it only helps keep the charge.
Sometimes Xiaomi 20w car charger is recommended but according to reviews it still chargers Note 20 Ultra with 10 watts, 20w is only for Xiaomi charging protocols.
Can you advise me a charger that is compatible with and can charge the device with more than 10w?
Just look in Amazon, there's a lot of them that offer different watts for charging, not expensive either unless you go with name brand
I am looking for one as well. I have two scosche magicmount chargers that are fast charge. The 9v 1.67A or roughly 20 watts, but these will only charge the new note 20 ultra at 10w. From what I can tell they start off fast charging then the phone stops them and only allows the 10w. I took one of these apart along with a Samsung branded fast charger, the biggest difference I saw right away was the samsung charger had dual coils. So I think that may be the difference the phone recognizes because the voltage and amperage are the same.
I'd like to find one that has the same or similar magnetic mounting system. Its mostly a matter of convenience but also I have used clap ones before, not all were wireless chargers but the manual one often broke on me and the one automatic one I have has a touch button on the side that is very sensitive, so it often releases when I don't mean for it too.

How has this Xiaomi charger fared? And how fast does it charge the N20 Ultra? The one I have doesn't charge the N20, just keeps it at a constant level but the same charger does charge an S7 and a Note 9 much faster (so probably coming up against the Sammie 'lets annoy customers by making them buy only Sammie wireless chargers' issue!). I have tried moving the phone up/down a bit to see if that's the issue but no luck.
So, looking to get something that charges faster and will get this one if it does so. Anyone else have the Xiaomi charger and is happy with it?
I am still happy with it, it charges my s23 ultra fast, the screen says fast wireless charging so, it is still good.
