Package Disabler Pro (PDP) - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S7 Themes, Apps, and Mods

For those of us that don't want to root....Post up your success (or failures) with using PDP!!
I personally haven't done anything with it yet but it was helpful with my S6 Active. Hoping for someone a bit more gutsy than myself to see what is ok to disable and what we shouldn't touch.

Used on my S6 Edge Plus, installed on my S7 Edge, hit 'disable bloatware' and so far no issues. Still way too early to tell if everything is functioning correctly. I'd rather disable all recommended bloat and then see what issues there are (if any) than go one by one.

Might have to give this a shot, I hate the amount of apps that Samsung, AT&T and to some extent Google have loaded by default on the phone.

I just hit the disable all bloatware button. It took out samsung pay and my weather clock. After enabling all of the appropriate apps, the work once again.
It might have been smarter for me to go through this thread first which is what I am doing now. It's for S6 but I'm going to guess that most of it will apply.

Anybody knows what the different colors mean?

I can't get the app to work. It won't activate the license. It tells me to disconnect proxy and VPN connections which I didn't know I was using. Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this? Do I need to give anymore information? I'm using an AT&T Galaxy S7.

Nevermind, I figured it out. It seems that AT&T uses a proxy on their cellular data. When I connected to WiFi the license activation worked fine.

I used it yesterday didn't get any extra sot with it and it seemed to make my screen go bonkers, it was extra overly sensitive so I took it off and my screen went back to normal, still sensitive but not nearly as bad

There is another app in Google Play,
If you have time, try to use this app "App Package Disabler (Samsung)" on Google Play
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kunkunsoft.packagedisabler
It work well

why use PDP? just use Debloater tool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/debloater-remove-carrier-bloat-t2998294

I've actually had good luck disabling some services with this and freeing up RAM. Not sure how this works without root but it's nice to have. Still feel we need root for other things but this app worked for me.

I've been using Package Disabler Pro since I got my S7 Edge...
Battery life was terrible in the beginning and then I kept fine tuning and fine tuning and fine tuning until I eventually reached some good battery life but it wasn't consistent.
Then I tried the GearVR and it installed some more apps and battery life started to suffer again.
I wasn't sure what the issue was exactly so I kept fine tuning and adjusting. I read online that Package Disabler Pro can actually impact battery life if you disable too many apps.
So I went back and only disabled a minimal number of apps... Still battery life was back and forth... Some days okay but other days battery drain would be awful.
So just for fun, I uninstalled Package Disabler Pro and manually went through and disabled each Application/Permissions through the Application Manager one by one (System & User Apps).
Now my battery life is phenomenal!
Seriously, I am getting about a day and a half off one charge (almost two days) and a SoT of between 6-8 hours consistently <- obviously this depends on how heavy your usage is.
I just charged my phone today with 5 1/2 SoT @ 25% battery left and 1 day 12 hours since last charge.
Very excellent results... So if others out there are having issues, try uninstalling Package Disabler Pro and doing it manually. Sure it takes time but the results have been amazing for me.

Interesting - Package Disabler free is available on the store but not seeing the pro version, even though it was there last week. I wonder what's up with that?

It was pulled from the playstore, ez package disabler is still there and most think it works better.

I've used Package Disabler on every Samsung to disable the every app of AT&T Bloat. Although some **** still shows up in battery usage.

Hi,
I have been using EZ package disabler since I got my S7 Edge and I am happy with it. Unfortunately, when the software update came, with too much excitement, I forgot to enable all disabled apps prior to updating the firmware. I have updated the firmware with apps disabled. What problem should I be facing? What should I do? Currently I am not experiencing any problems but I suspect that the disabled apps where not optimized. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

RIght now, my apps edge appears that an update is available. But whenever I click the update, it won't update even if all apps are enabled. I am not sure if this was caused by the firmware update but this apps edge update just came up together with the firmware.

Thank you ! I debloated an S5 I was given using package disabler pro as my intention is to use it only for dash cam purposes , It has no SIM in it so I dunno if it will even get marshmallow update when it's available from AT&T, but if I do see an update available and am on wifi with it I'll re-enable everything. Thanks again !

Is this normal?

Hello!
I recently purchased a note 5, and I lose about 15% overnight, if my Wi-Fi/3G is switched on, and around 10% if all data is switched off. Please check the attached picture and tell me if there's anything abnormal. Thanks!
Nope it is not normal. I have the same exact issue after the AOJ5 update and it is driving me crazy. On N920c if i leave the phone overnight I'll wake up to a dead device. I have posted about it on samsung developers too which got ignored. Flashed another kernel and checked the wakelocks and it seems like its an issue with the wifi. Something has to do with wlan_rx_wake. I really don't know what else to do.
Have you tried a factory reset and building your apps up slowly to see if there's an issue with one of them. Also, Better Battery Stats is very good at identifying what is keeping your device awake. My recollection is that that wakelock comes from a data request.
Also, perhaps worth trying to see whether you get the same behaviour with wifi off?

I have done factory resets maybe already 10 times. Nothing changes. I have even tested out with no 3rd party apps installed everything stock. The drain is still there.

Right now I have the arter97 kernel and it doesn't help the drain at all. The same issue continues. But I noticed that on some wifi networks the drain is worse than on others. A temporary solution is to keep the wifi off during sleep and turn off the phone at nights. I'll try to get some screenshots of the wakelock detector and better battery stats later.

Well, my rom is pretty much debloated. Just clean stock samsung rom without any carrier bloat. I did purchase the package disabler pro at some point and disabled all the unnecessary stuff. Still no luck. I wrote samsung a feedback on their website. Try also leaving a feedback about the issue if you can. On the samsung support website on top right corner look for "feedback". Then select technical issue and describe the problem. I guess only samsung can fix what they have broken.

As you're rooted why not try a custom ROM - at least then you have a controlled environment. I am on Dr Ketan's L5 with his modified stock N920C kernel and it's great. If you still have the drain with no apps and no bloat installed on that ROM you have a fault.

A few questions about the 6.0.1 update

So I am a bit burned from updating my s5 mini (last time it just updated itself to 5.0, my battery life and performance shrunk and it wouldnt even let me disable bloatware).
Here are my questions:
1. How did the battery life change from 5.0;
2. How did the peformance change from 5.0 (including in-apps, opening them and regular menu opening/scrolling);
3. Is USB-OTG now supported?
1. Battery life has improved a lot, at least for me. It seems that Smart Manager is really doing its job and I'm seeing an improvement in both standby time and SOT. With a few tweaks here and there you can improve the battery life even more.
2. Everything feels smoother, there are some updated animations and transitions that really make the phone feel like new.
3. No, OTG on the S5 Mini has never been and never will be officially supported by Samsung. There is a custom kernel that enables OTG but it most likely affects the water resistance capabilities because of the exposed USB connector and also it's somewhat of a risk to use anything that requires power on a port that was never designed to do that.
One of the few drawbacks I noticed just today is that the auto brightness seems a lot less responsive. For example it's very sunny today and most of the time when pulling the phone out of my pocket the display was still stuck on low brightness. It might just be a conflict with xposed or something else I'm running. All in all I recommend that you update, I skipped the 5.1.1 update as well but for different reasons, 6.0.1 is pretty good.

What model are you using? I'm using the GH800F.
How big is the change? And I've heard that 6.0.1 gives you less performance for more battery. Is that correct?
Sorry, I'm just scared of updating because I don't want to lose all of my data for another let down like 5.1.1 (that literally just enabled itself out of ****ing nowhere and I lost everything).

G800F as well. Like I said, I've noticed a big improvement in battery life. Just make a backup of the important stuff on your phone like contacts and photos and try the 6.0.1 firmware - I recommend you do a clean install via ODIN.

Alright, as long as the performance hasn't decreased (especially in games) then I'll update.
Since I've got most things on my SD card, can I just remove it from my phone, update and put it back in?

Yes, backup everything you don't want to lose to your card, wipe the phone from recovery and install a fresh 6.0.1 firmware with ODIN. If you don't like Marshmallow you can always go back to KitKat.

That's the problem, I can't revert. I tried doing it with 5.1.1 but it just wouldn't let me. I tried multiple times, on multiple PC's with multiple USB wires. (which is why I'm so nervous).
P.s. So if I remove my card, installl 6.0.1 and add it again it'll work?

You should be able to revert, if you can't then there's an issue with something - maybe you haven't updated the Samsung USB drivers?
Yes, it will work. Backup your contacts, messages, photos, videos, anything you want saved on your card and pull it out before you update if you're so nervous.

Hi, i flashed stock MM TW comming from CyanogenMod 13. My battery life seems worse than before with CMod... What should I do?
Before upgrading to MM I did a benchmark test (AnTuTu) on 4.4.2 for comparison, ran the same test on MM and here are the results.
Thanks for the test. A more meaningful one would be to compare Lollipop 5.1 with MM 6.0.1 as most S5 Mini users have Lollipop installed.
I have a question about the MM 6.0.1 update. I flashed the new rom al updatet and seemd to work perfect. Then i noticed, the battery life was very poor. So take a good look at what was draining it. During the day it seemd okay, then when i got home it started rapidly draining again. I managed to figure out that when i am using 4G/LTE everything is fine but when i am home and change to my wifi, my screen turns on every 3 minutes or something and it complety unlocks as wel. because i have my screen time set to 1 minute it stays that way then turns of and about 3 minutes later turns itself on again. When i disable wifi the problem is gone.
Has anyone a idea how to fix this? i live at the border of my country and without wifi its gonna be expesive with roaming costs ....
Thanx in advance for your reply's
Hi, I'm using Germany (DBT) firmware.
I usually use Ultra Power Saving Mode.
Then after turn off Ultra Saving Mode, e-mail application is asking me "admin priviliages confirmation" for each time. (only for Exchange account)
My flashlight don't work in the dark after the update to marshmellow.
Tried another from play store, the same issue

I had the same issue. Resetting the app worked for me. (btw. I googled that)
"Anwendungsmanager", "Kamera", "Speicher", "Daten löschen" und "Cache leeren".
Since you said you are on the DBT firmware, I assumed you are german.
I'm on 5.1.1 not rooted with g800f. Should I update to MM with Odin first then flash the custom recovery? Thank you!

Note 3 vs Note 4 for modding and in general

Hi all.
Have been modding and playing around with Note 4 and the emmc fault is a bi*ch. If it works, you never know when the damn thing will stop functioning. And the phone itself is always a bit buggy with custom roms. I noticed that several people here compare it to Note 3 and mean that Note 3 overall has certain advantages, easier to modd, less buggy, and of course, is not plagued with emmc fault. Don't get me wrong, i have several units and i really like the damn thing.
So i would like to ask all you who actually HAVE experience of both, write here a line or two, and compare those two. Which one is actually more thankfull for modding? N4 being of course newer, but does it make that big of a dirfference?
Hi, i don't have an note 3, i have and use a note 4, very happy with the phone running android 6.01 heavy customized and with the best kernel (ram Kernel v8.1 never had any issues with emmc or any other for that matter, it runs very smooth with no problems, battery last for a week, standby 0.4% per hour.
Ok. Difficult to make comparison then since you have no experience with Note 3, but thanx anyway.
Sounds good tho. May I ask then how your setup looks like, since having a battery last for a week is really an achievment?
System:
I Installed stock PHN DRI2 Build with ram Kernel v8.1 removed a lot of user apps that i don't need and also a lot of system apps that drain your battery, i use magisk for root and have two modules in use GPU Turbo Boost (not sure if this does anything but i leave it anyway installed) and Swap Torpedo (no swap file that saves battery) i use for tweaks the L Speed app and some build.prop tweaks most of them are from goldeneye rom.
Apps:
I use Ungoogled Chromium, this browser is memory and battery friendly as it does not call home all the time and i don't use social media apps as they are all battery hogs, i have about 50 apps installed and i use afwall for firewall and as email i use exchange push email with stock email client.
I tried almost every rom available for the note 4 910F but all suck in battery or the pen is not working, with a lot of trial and error in debloating the rom i stick with the one i have now, i am running it for 3 years and i am a happy camper. I love this phone with the pen the screen size and the exchangeable battery, it runs for a week with one charge 7 days with 3 hours and 43 minutes screen on, the onscreen time (backlight slider at 1/3 and dark color wallpaper) is about 7 hours in one go and it uses 0.4 battery per hour in standby (measured with GSam Battery Monitor since 1 year). I had newer phone they are all made of glass, no battery exchange and no earphone connector. Long story short, great phone . If you like to have the build.prop tweaks i can give them to you. The L speed app you can download from XDA https://forum.xda-developers.com/f/l-speed.6156/ .

Thank you very much for the offer, but build props are way over my experience level, i think.
Btw, love the phone for the same reason as you do.
Besides, i am quite happy customer also, running @AnonVendetta s version of really bareboned stock 6.01. No Google, microG instead. No root. Not many apps. I probably could get a week out of a battery also with light use that i usually do. But i use Signal, and i just yesterday discovered that the damn thing just chugs battery like mad if you don't have Play Service installed. So with it installed i get at best a days use, with very light using of the phone.
I am currently rocking a Note 3 on Sprint and running Android 10 (Superior OS) and works great. All the convencience of Android with my removable battery and IR blaster (yes I use it for multiple TV's in multiple buildings I control). I use the S-Pen on Squid to take notes and jot down info and even mark up pictures so don't need Air Command. I sync with my FitBit Versa and run multiple smart home devices from the phone (including my whole home entertainment with the PEEL app).
The only 'complaint' I have is the bluetooth. There was a major problem past Android 7 of geting the thing to work. It does now. Voice and music work good. But occassionally it will just drop the device it connects to. I will re esablsih about 10 seconds later but still, that loses the lock on my Jeep radio and therefore keeps allowing the screen to lock. This is a minor annoyance but does need to be mentioned.
I JUST bought a Note 4 so thinking of loading LOS 17 on it and see how it goes. However I see most people here just kept stock Marshmellow. I dunno aobut that... isnt the UI buggy and limiting?
I look forward to any advice I can get!
Hi Dave,
I also use the IR remote for all my home appliance (dvbviewer TV on my pc, living room and bedroom tv and Bose audio system, i use the ir plus app great remote control app and it still gets updates, about the roms available for the note 4 i have the snapdragon version and i have tried all roms but i stay on stock 6.01 the MM version is not buggy at all, it never have problems, hangs crashes or reboots, i use the stock launcher smooth and fast, the UI interface is not important, the apps i use are all in dark mode, for me it's important i can use it the way i like it and it does. NOTE 4 still rocks like a champ with all the advantage it has. If this one breaks i will look for a other note 4, no newer phone for me. I dont know what version you have but try some rome you will see you will go back to 6.01 mm, its rock solid and battery friendly. Bluetooth on the note 4 sucks for battery use but does not crash or breaks anything, i have a gear fit2 pro but i dont connect it with the phone all the time just to sync .
Cheers

For me LOS17 was a no go because of the SIM issue and lack of encryption. I saw other having other issues. If i were you and needed something newer than marshmallow, then i would try LOS16. I found that one to be very stable, no issues so far for my use. Will perhaps migrate to that one with my daily driver in a while, when stock starts failing.
As for stock 6.0.1, not sure where you heard it was buggy?! I read that marshmallow was if not the least buggy Android OS ever and that is also my experience, at least on Note 4. I totally agree with @Qosmio-. It is the most rock solid rom i have ever had on a device. NEVER had any bugs, issues or anything. Battery friendly. I find launcher smooth, and run UI in 'easy mode', which i find the most appealing, colorwise and all. The perfect OS basically, if there ever was one. I have heard people starting to find apps that are no longer supported, but all apps that are important to me still work.
but wait - you use PEEL app as remote?
Wasn't that completely hidious advertisment-prone bloatware that was utterly unpleasant to use?

I only meant 'buggy' as outdated and unable to use the full Google Assistant features etc... Thats why I moved to newer ROMS Not as smooth and primitive features. I should try myself before I speak the negative about it!
So let's talk about PEEL.
The magic is to use this with Titanium Backup. I must say, PEEL can be set up to use and manage "scenarios" (Home, Work, Friend's House etc). If you set it up..
1.go in and click to NOT auto detect WiFi connections
2.disable advertising and lock screen and persistant notifications for 30 days.
3. Set up a Custom Remote Scenario
4. Create a Widget for the App to default on Custom Remote
3. Do a TB of the app!
I have found, on the newer ROM's it stays Ad Free.. but if it gets weird to annoying just do a TB restore "data only" and then you are golden!
Ive tried lots of other 3rd party apps but I keep going back to PEEL. It stays ad free and as a remote (not as a channel guide) it works exremely well, is desined well and functions well.
Hit me up if you want more specifics! Maybe I should start a 'how to' thread..

No not at all, i protect my use of internet at home and phone ( i am system engineer for 35 years so i know what i can and can't do), if you look what still need to be patched for android Exploits vulnerability-list , every new or old version of android user is @ risk. When connected with my phone to internet via my provider it will change the phones ip address every 15 minutes, i use a firewall (afwall) on my phone and disabled ipv6, i am connected to my home with openvpn to pfsense firewall for internet access and i use my own MS exchange mail server and dns server resolver with ad and privacy telemetry filter with pfblocker. There are things you don't do with old version of android and that is visite websites that are shady, porn websites and browse without a strong ad blocker or privacy filter.

I had tried using some Liniage Versions but on the Sprint Variant they woulnt make phone calls or text so I had to ditch them. I am downloading now so will give it a flash and see! Thank you for the heads up!
Dave
EDIT
Ok.. loaded up the Crdroid ROM. Working well, but with my SM 910P I am having bluetooth problems keeping sync with my Fitbit, Lack of LTE (but works on 3G) and a few other bugs but am managing. What carrier are you with? I would appreciate any tweeks you have found to help out.

Hi Dave,
Sorry for the late reply, i just read your post in the cdroid section, i am with simpel carrier i dont have any problems using LTE and have no problem with sms (i dont use mms) , the only tweaks is with the L speed app and kernel auditor to lower the idle frequentie of the GPU and set it to 166 instead of 240 to save battery. My gear fit2 pro on bluetooth works fine to so i am a happy camper. What you could try is other modems from other stock roms if you did not try that already maybe that helps with you LTE problem.
Cheers

Sorry for all the bouncing around in the forums. Trying to play Note 4 catchup...
Well that is an interesting thought. As a CDMA carrier customer (Sprint) I feel I am locked into my own island.
Can I just do a stock modem restore in TWRP onto my CRDroid ROM ? I am not at all sure why my Bluetooth is having such a problem with my Versa 2.. Maybe it is the versa problem?
Anyways, I can see a bit where the Note 4 gets laggy with camera use and running a few other commands at once. I know this is older but my Note 3 did not seem to hesatate this much. I like the idea of considering lowering my GPU.
Let me know if you have any other thoughts?
Dave
Np Dave there is so much information to take in that i can't blame you when bouncing aroubnd in the forum , You can and must make a backup with twrp of your modem in use and then fiddle around with different versions, its very easy to rip modems with 7zip from different original roms and zip (7zip) them to flash it with twrp. As for bluetooth it can be a pain in the ass with custom roms especially with asop roms, do some searches in the forum maybe someone has the same issue as you have.
Cheers

I found a forum that says to go into the application and wipe data and cache and then I went into TWRP and wiped ART/Cache. That seems to help with the 'Bluetooth Keeps Stopping" error. I have tried to load several other ROM's but they wont install due to Error 7 codes. I supsect becuase I updated to the Q15 version and these older ROMS arent being updated. So I will keep trying to nurse the CrDroid 10 version and see if it can be improved..
I'm not an expert but for me.. note 3 is more stabLe than note 4 when it comes to custom rom. Easier to mod, and Less buggy. ( thanks to aLL deveLopers at kay Lodi @jprimero15 )
TiLL now stiLL Looking for a rom that can fit note 4 for daiLy usage.
Thanks
I am using Emotion Kernel, and Xposed. I will just to Android 12 at the moment it will be available.
I never used the Note 3, but i wonder is it faster than the Note 4 in daily usage. The Note 4 Snapdragon CPU is a frying pan and it can strongly reduce its performance when it gets hot.
My phone will in consequence randomly reboot, but i have a simple script that detects overheating and lower the CPU freq (works good)
Is the Note 3 quick and doesn't overheat when browsing internet?

Constant freezing and restarting

One week on 12 with Magisk root and all was fine until yesterday. Phone boots for about 1 1/2 minuets, and freezes. The touchscreen does not respond to input and buttons do not work as well. The phone restart in about a minuet or so. but it's goes straight to the Google bypassing a the bootloader in unlocked, press to pause screen. Restarting the phone in safe mode the phone works fine. I assume it's a rouge app but I don;t know which one.
Anyone else have this issue? Anyway to locate what app is crashing the phone. I did a Malwarebytes scan that took forever because of the rebooting and it did find and remove a "threat" however that did not fix things.
I don;'t want to reset this phone again unless it is the only solution.
Thanks in advance.

If you already found malware... there may be more.
Reload and be careful what you install and download.
I've gone for over a year with Malwarebytes not finding anything... that should be a red flag for you. Clean your act up.
Mind you I do go to some nasty sites... but I'm very careful what I install and download. I'm running a N10+/Pie variant.

I'm a creature of comfort. I've been running the same setup/apps on my Pixel 2XL on Android 11 for sevral years and on this 4a5G on Android 11 for several months now without issue. I've never had a problem. This just started when I switched to 12. I'm half tempted to go back to 11 at this point.

Agreed. Constant firmware upgrades are generally counterproductive especially if the device is fulfilling its mission.
Even Adroid 9 is secure enough to use with no issues.
Lol, you probably should have stopped with Android 10 if possible That's as high as my N10+'s will ever go. Scoped storage was poorly implemented and it seems not needed. Android is suppose to be the alternative to iPhone, not an inferior copycat
Guess Google didn't get the memo...

I know, I have no idea why I switched to 12. I figured the latest and greatest but that is not true at least not yet for the ones like me who need root. Maybe 12 is great for Google as it is seems to be more locked down that previous version. I guess going forward Goole may become just as locke down as Apple.

That's my fear as well as the complete mess they're making getting there. My office app is free and not compatible with scoped storage.
One of the reasons I now have 2 N10+'s is zero confidence in Google Android's immediate future or direction. Google gotten too big for its breeches and needs to be cut down to size.
UPDATE:
Wiped the phone and set it up with a fresh install of 12. After some issues I got it to boot on Friday. I rooted and all wall well until last night when the same thing started to happen. with constant reboots after a few minuets After thinking about what could be causing this I remembered that although installed via backup/restore I opened the app Greenify and gave it root privileges yesterday afternoon. I uninstalled the Greenify app and the phone is back to normal, at least for now. I don't know what it is doing but I assume Greenify is hibernating a vital system app that is causing the phone to freeze and reboot.

Greenify and 3rd party launcher were the 2 apps that I removed after 2 back to back boot loops over 1.5 years ago.
I suspect it was the launcher but Greenify was also a prime suspect. Ditched both, the last load remains fast and stable to this day.
So there's that...

I use Nova launcher as my default launcher and have been since it the day it was released. At first I liked Apex (free) over Nova (free) but I bought the pro of Nova and could not be happier. As for Greenify, just checked and it has not been updated since 2019. Regardless the phone is working with no issue, keeping my fingers crossed.

Lol, nothing like a boot loop to wake you up
I've used Nova launcher with no issues. It was Hyperion I had loaded... paid version. It was glitchy. I'm running stock; Greenify didn't have as much leeway as it did your load did.
Don't know which caused it, not doing another reload to find out. It was one or both together.
I just stick with the stock One UI now as it's the best overall launcher for my N10+...

Question OnePlus 10 very warm when using

Hi everyone. I just got my OnePlus 10 Pro and ever since I had it it's been running very warm when using I checked a few apps and they all showed that the battery was running at 42° Celsius which is keeping the device warm basically all the time when I'm using it. is anyone else having this problem? This is really concerning for me.
I'm unable to update to the latest version of the formula that's available because OnePlus seems like they don't release full ROMs for the OnePlus 10. What's up with that?
Try temporarily disabling Google play Services...
Strange, I've thrown everything at this phone and it's never got above 34.
Not once, maybe the heatsink is a little away...

It's burning up the battery too. I'm familiar with Samsung's and this is a common problem with them. The solution is to optimize the phone unless it's a purely firmware or hardware issue.
Turn off global power management.
Find the power hogs and deal with each on a case by case basis. Either by changing settings or disabling/uninstalling them or by using work arounds.
Keep trash social media apps like FB, WhatsApp, etc off the phone. Cloud storage tend to be a battery sucker, one reason I use SD cards instead.
Try using factory loaded app versions, update one at a time if at all and see what results.
Once you get it optimized I would avoid app and especially firmware updates/upgrades. These can and do break things. In your case a firmware update may correct issues on your variant so consider wisely and don't update blindly.
Anything from Pie up is relatively secure in actual use... useless you do something stupid. Security even using Pie simply isn't an issue. Updates have cost me far more time then any malware to fix. In the last 2 years no malware repairs or factory resets on this stock N10+ running on Pie.
Mine get extreme warm too, specially when its charging.
I've also noticed some heat when Warp Charging!
