LED Flip cover software issue. - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Accessories

So I bought the LED flip cover for my S7 Edge (EF-NG935). Although its a really good quality case I have issues with its software. The LED's on the case display the time, receiving a call or a text and afterwards it goes dark. There is no way for me to see if I have a notification on my phone. Usually the phone LED would flash slowly notifying me to check my phone. Other than that the Flip cover LED does not notify me for any general notification (viber, facebook etc). Not even when i receive a message on them. So there is no way for me to see that i just received a message or that I had received a message. Other than that it doesn't display music bars when music is playing or the volume.
What it would be excellent is that the LED's should be always on (hence low consumption). In case of a notification it should display the icon of the app that I got a notification from. The LEDs are quite a lot so its easy to figure out what app send the notification. The case costed 70 Euros which are quite a lot. There should be a customization software or something. Samsung needs to address this issue. My ROM version is : G935FXXU1APAW

I agree 100%. One of the great things about Android phones are the LED notifications, but this cover covers it and it should IMO show notifications on the cover.
Just a simple blinking diod would even be good enough.
Disappointing

Or make the dot leds always on! Can we edit it's settings with root? Does anyone have knowledge how to? The led view flip cover is really nice and has potential. But right now it's not even working right.

I reported the issue to samsung...but I'm not expecting much...xda devs is the only salvation haha. Any rom cookers that can help?

When i went to a samsung store to buy the led flip case, the first one i used had an issue like yours so we cracked open another case and tried it on and the 2nd one works like a charm and as a matter of fact no issues until now.
My previous experiences tell me that the sensor itself is faulty on the case. Go to your nearest samsung store and try a new led flip case. See if the issue is still there on a new case.

Does it show all general notifications? Like what's up, Facebook, etc? Because mine shows only time, battery charging, incoming call, and sms. No general notifications...and furthermore it should stay on all the time so I know I had a notification..like the phone led! I'll go try another one Monday...but I still want to see customization on the led case. Always on option...app icons etc.
Please explain how your case works? General notifications etc...

Ok so I was doing some googling on this, and found that it seems to work with Nova Launcher Prime + TeslaUnread (their unread badge plugin). It seems to show four dots spinning on other Samsung LED flip covers.
I don't have Nova Launcher Prime, so I can't test it. If you do, please feel free to try!
edit: ok so I've got nova launcher prime now, and it still doesn't work..
I got my info from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/accessories/led-case-review-t2993839/page2
edit 2: from reading a bit more, the note 4 led cover had some support for 3rd party apps, but that seems to be gone with S7 LED cover..

So there is a way to control it! We just need the software! Great work @dogans ! Anyone who can give us some help? I'm sure its not such a hard thing to do...if it could only take the notification bar icons...and show em on..that would be great. For example if you have a viber text...it should show a viber icon always on till you read it!

Notification only works with standard sms, prompt to swipe for call only happens when receiving calls, music player led only works with samsung music app, alarm clock with samsung built in clock app.
No 3rd party notification support.
Led doesnt stay lit all the time.
It was meant to do that.
And if u wanna check the time u can press the power/lock button.

Well that's no good. First of all..even if I get a standard sms or call..after it lids up for some seconds then it goes dark. The phone led is covered so how I supposed to notice I got a notification. If someone is willing to modify its settings or make a small app to take control of it that would be great. It's highly inefficient as is.

Luckily i read it. I was planning to buy one. Saved some money there.

No you should buy it...it's a really nice case! Even without the notifications...and I'm sure it's a matter of time till we get it right! Haha! I don't think there is a better case..leather plus led

Update: the case works with samsung music player. Wish it would stay on all the time. Volume shows up as well. So the only thing that doesn't work is general notifications and always on (which it's a must if you ask me)

Im not too sure but the number of leds there > number of lcds on a 5" lcd smartphone. If its always on, theres bound to be a huge battery drain

Well at least one led should fade in and out just to let you know you have a notification... Like the phone LED on top of the screen. Can someone write an app to control it? Or at least enable general notifications.

hi, i got problem with this s7 edge led flip case. somethimes it show the clock when i close it but sometimes not. already claim the warranty, and got new one but sadly it happen again after several hour using. one thing i noticed when the led it not show , then put my phone back on metal object suddenly led is working. what do u guys think, problem came from the case or the phone itself?

Probably nfc interference... The case works fine here. Except the above complaints. Try testing it on someone's else's phone. And try your nfc with another phone as well. If both works fine its a software problem. Hard reset!

I have the same problem like this. If the phone
attached with another phone the LED
can work properly,
But if not attached the LED not working.

Picked one up today, tried the hopeless Samsung Experience store in London - who had no S7 Edge cases at all !!!
Went to Carphone Warehouse and got a 3 for 2 deal, but again only bought the LED as that was all they had. Works fine, but boring the led as always with Samsung great idea (hardware) poor software failure to exploit hardware potential.

so did anyone figure out how to modify its software? it shouldnt be that hard i guess.

Sony liveview

Anyone got the Sony liveview? I ordered it from play.com but its not arrived yet will post my comments here

No not yet i will get one after crimbo
What i do have is a Sony bluetooth watch same as a liveview as such and it works very well on the streak
Give us a few pics and a write up when it arrives if you don't mind
I have one
I got mine from Expansys, and how shall I say it?
So far, I am incredibly underwhelmed with it. It is not a finished product, in my opinion. The software you load on your android device is a resource HOG, and the performance is poor. It causes freezes for me, and the design is terrible.
For example, with the wrist strap they include, which makes it only marginally passable as a watch, you have to remove the pin for the band just to charge it. Just minor things like that which make it annoying.
I haven't found a way to get alerts in real-time on the screen like I could with my Sony MBW-150 watch. You have to activate the screen on the liveview to see text messages, etc.
Unless I am missing something, I think you would do well to avoid this. I was really excited for it to arrive, now I find myself wishing I could return it. My only hope now is that SE gets their act together and finished a product that wasn't even ready for release. However, I am not holding my breath...
Hope that helps!

Some question:
1. Does the watch alert me instantly if gmail email, sms, call arrives?
2. Can I read my gmail emails on the watch?
if yes, this email marks as read after reading on the PDA?
3. When more emails come, is there any repeated aalert functon?
4. What about the battery usage of the app?
5. Is there any widget?

I have received the LiveView via an Australian online reseller, and although it can pair with my Archos 70 running Android 2.2, I can't find the LiveView application in Market. I have searched for about a week using different versions of the name -- it doesn't show up at all. I have found and downloaded the plugins for Gmail, etc. but all useless unless I have the main app. Even when I use the LiveWare Manager and it asks me to download LiveView from Market it still can't find it. I live is Australia, so is this a location issue? Can someone help me out here? Can this app be sideloaded from somewhere else? The LiveView is pretty useless without it...

New firmware update in January might help you out?
http://www.engadget.com/2010/12/22/sony-ericsson-liveview-getting-much-needed-january-update/

it's easy to get.
Andrew de Quincey has some technical details on the LiveView (You'll have to Google his name as I'm too new to post links).
According to him, the protocol is pretty simple, so tossing the original Sony implementation into the garbage and starting over shouldn't be too hard. Then again, this is a guy who figured out how to write Kindlets without the KDK
liveview
i currently own a liveview with the update they did back in January. so far works perfectly no disconnect issues and real time updates very handy gadget has saved me from fumbling for my phone so many times
Well I got one.......eventually!....damn you play.com
Well its not too bad....some details
@Size - its quite thick and would be better if it was thinner. But not so thick its a problem/eyesore.
@strap - is an elasticated black Velcro affair. Not that sturdy but ok. Ibam looking to replace the strap with something wider and more robust/stylish. Negative is that the liveview can pop out of its holder if bashed hard enough. It doesnt need to be that hard. The problem is thst you can lose it this way. Mist times I dropped it it stayed in the sleave of my coat Alternatively there is a clip.
@operation - pretty simple.
Turn it on. Pair with phone. Then connect with liveview app on phone. Go into settings to connect twitter/facebook/plugins etc.
Notifications vibrate on your wrist.
To look at notifications then press button twice (First press gives you the time). To scroll press the outer part of the display. Not great way to navigate but it works. Buttons would prob be better.
@connectivity - the update has improved connectivity significantly. Before it was pretty much unusable. It still loses connection every now and again but at a managabke level.(although I have noticed djsteve rom 1.7 onwards has made it worse.
@battery life - since the update I get a days life, often more. It depends on how many disconnects you get. However the battery level indicator needs some work, it shows full when it isn't and the only time it doesn't show full is when it shows 3/4 which indicate its almost out of charge.
@screen and menu - this is not so great. The icons don't fill out the screen. They look washed out in appearance.
@general - i bought this not expecting too much, but as an investment in something that will improve on the next generation. In its current incarnation is ok, and I certainly don't regret buying it and when its connected I find its notifications very useful. I also use it as a watch, so for £50 its not a bad accessory.

Thus isn't true. To charge you just pop the watch out of the strap then plug in the charger. However this is the one design fault that means many of these will get lost.
Sent from my Dell Streak using Tapatalk
I broke down and ordered one using a some Amazon gift card $$$ I had. The TL;DR is: Cool concept, so-so implementation, wouldn't buy it again at more than $40.
What really ticked me off was that the official LiveView Facebook plugin asks for a boatload more rights to your account than it really needs. IIRC, it wants the ability to write to your wall and read your data any time. There's a Gmail plugin, but it's third party and I'm not sure I really want to put my Gmail credentials into something provided by an unknown third party.
I must say.. trust SE to come up with such crap.. don't get me wrong.. I think their devices are good to decent.. however Liveview is just HORRIBLE.. bluetooth dc almost every few hours and doesn't get reconnected back.. Make is kinda plasticky and the frame holder is not tight enough. I believe a normal knock on a busy subway would detach the device. I only used it for less then 2 weeks and I gave up on it.. its still in my drawer rotting away coz i dun even think its right to sell it off to anyone.
If you want a good watch for ID or alert purposes, I would say SE MBW-150 is the best.. only thing now is if you can find it.. I wouldn't recommend any second hand for this unless you can check on it physically prior to purchase.. make sure the LCD is still bright.. I'm on the second MBW-150.. LCD on the first one already dimed out till unreadable after more than a year.
I'm currently also on another inPulse watch. Got it for few weeks now. Its not great but I'd say it has potential.. they just gotta make the battery life better and have better QC.. my first set was way faulty but at least support was prompt and they got me a good replacement.

HTC One vibration sound

Picked up this phone just today and my god I love this phone to death but every phone comes with complaints. Most things arent big and will just take time to get used to but this one I cannot ignore. I love having the vibrate on keypress option selected and the HTC One when it vibrates makes this very unpleasant loose spring like sound whenever it vibrates. Am I the only one thats noticed this or is this every device?
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
many people do have this ... me too.... thats my second device and both of them got this crappy vibration sound...
i replaced it because of that .... but because of that i disabled every vibration functions on this phone to get rit of it ....
so i guess you have to live with it ... try to replace it and hope you get one with a good vibration motor or disable all vibrations

I'm sure there will be soon an option in custom roms to control vibration intensity, and put it to the value you like! it's only a matter of time, I'm sure!
[I'm sure there will I am currently facing the same issue with my replacement and thinking about replacing it again but hesitant because every device comes with its own minor defects, u only notice the alight clicking in a very quite environment and only on short vibrates such as when typing, but to be honest this is as perfect as it can get, everything seems to work with this device with no problems except this, and I might apply for a replacement and end up with a worst unit and another major issue, I have emailed HTC complaining about their quality control, cuz my first device had gaps and a tiny hair under the screen, my second device had a touchscreen problem and now this one which has a minor vibration sound.
The problem is I am too picky when it comes to this kind of stuff and a little ocd about them so I am positive that other people won't even notice the issue and even the repair tech might claim it's normal and in all devices. So yeah
my device is work related so giving it to them for 2 full days is kind of troublesome for me
add me to the list
I have had my HTC One for 2 days now. I too noticed this on mine. I just chalked it up to the phone being all aluminum case vs my old EVO was plastic/metal. I have a few other complaints too lol.
Ok the rants!
1. Why did you have to move all the buttons all over the place? Seems like every button is opposite to other android phones? Especially moving the power button to the far left? Who designed this? Must of been a left handed person. Come on at least compromise and put in the middle! Stupid!
2. Why limit to only 3 buttons at the bottom of the HTC one and in all actuality...you never enabled the "HTC" to be a button so we are stuck with 2! Most phones have at least 3! Again Stupid!
3. The Home button and back buttons. Ok maybe the person designed this drives on the wrong side of the road or goes in the exit door or something? The buttons need to be flipped in my humble opinion. Home first (left side) or at least in the middle, back button to the left or right sides. OH and bring back the quick access button!
4. Ok speaking of the "HTC" logo/button at the bottom. Why put in circuitry for it to be a button and then not enable it? Stupid #3!
5. The widgets for "Bluetooth", Wireless", "Mobile", and "GPS". Why light blue for the "on notification". Seems like a **** poor color choice. At least a green or red would be fairly noticeable considering the widget itself is blue? Hello.....great designing there.
6. The power button. More recessed then ever before making it difficult to push down or even find. No step up here.
7. Lock screen can only have 1 widget on it? Really? Wow...couple steps back here.
8. Full animated weather locking screen gone/no longer available because HTC forces you to use their one and ONLY ONE version their crappy line art weather on the lock screen. I don't mind the plain jane weather for showing up in the app list but placing it on the bottom of the lock screen with nothing else is horrible. I want my weather back to the lock screen. I know I have mentioned it a lot...sorry pet peeve, have it it so long on all my other phones.
9. I won't mention Blinkfeed. I have that pushed off the side and hear that sense 5.5 is around the corner which will allow you to finally turn the damn thing off.
Hey guys, I wanted to point out that you can reduce the vibration intensity, therefore getting rid of the "springy" feeling! Just download FauxClock. (Yes you need root of course). Gratefully this app doesn't require you to flash anything, it just needs BusyBox. The only downside to reducing the intensity is after so far you basically lose haptic feedback. (I wanted to reduce notification buzz.) And this is where I went with plan B.
Plan B (NO ROOT!): This method, you guys, will make you feel real dumb for not thinking of. Personally I did this to get rid of notification buzz but keep haptic feedback, but you can also just turn off buzz on certain apps. Simply open up App-ops on Android 4.3, go through all your apps, and untick the "Vibration" permission! That's it guys! Feel dumb now?
Note: to open App-ops is an activity, you can download App-ops launchers from Play Store or, in my case, I used a Tasker task.

Just picked up this phone

I wanted something more durable especially when it comes to water and since I was switching to AT&T the Active was an obvious choice. I've had the phone for a few days now and I'm really pleased with it, especially the camera and battery life. The first day I had almost 4 hours of screen on time which was close to full brightness and still had over 40% battery left. I thought that had to be a fluke or something but it's clearly not. Now to the point of my post, why is this phone not very popular? Why anyone would choose the regular S6 over the Active is beyond me. Does anyone think we'll ever see root on this phone? I'm very pleased with it out of the box but there's a few things I'd love root for. Like why does there have to be a persistent notification telling me I'm connected to wifi. That's the dumbest thing I've ever seen. I couldn't believe it couldn't be turned off.
Edit:
Gotta change that sig as its all wrong now, lol.

What are some of your cons for the device?
I've heard various things about it, such as there's some faint line down the side of the screen on most all models.
Some people claim that the speak on speaker call sucks.
etc etc. Anything you don't really like about the phone that could be most people's gripe about it?
Mine works great. Nothing to complain about...

First, fingerprint sensor. I need security but entering pin/code every time I wanted to unlock the phone was cumbersome.
Second, is availability at the time of purchase. It wasn't apparently available with carriers in Canada.
Third, popularity, and community development and support. Galaxy s6 has more users, and therefore, more developers working on its rom.
Fourth, availability of accessories due to Galaxy S6 owner population vs Active.
I can overlook all other points, but missing the fingerprint sensor was a deal breaker for me.
For me, the lack of a fingerprint scanner isn't a deal-breaker. I guess I'm 'old school' or something. Though I understand the convenience of it.
I'm on the edge of picking up this phone, but, kind of worried about what type of specs the S7 Active will have and will it be worth the wait.
Currently with the S6 Active, my concerns are:
No Root (not a deal breaker)
Slowness of AT&T updates (not a deal breaker if ODIN is reliable and we can get timely firmware updates outside of AT&T)
Length of time it's taking to get to Marshmellow
Quality of speaker and using the speaker phone (I've heard that it's not too hot)
Lack of accessories (agree with you on this, doesn't seem a lot out there)
What I don't like about S6 Active:
Placement of the audio jack port. Really should be on the bottom, like the S6
No expandable memory option
No removable battery option (Not really a deal breaker if the battery has no issues and will remain effective for at least 3-4 years.)
Not enough bands to support international carriers and carrier aggregation support to the fullest by having as many bands possible (Not really a deal breaker, as I'll get a few where I am).
Touch-Wiz. Rather to to some stock android OS rather than have all the crap on the phone. (relates to having a root)
But beyond all of the above, the phone looks really really nice and I'll likely pick it up anyways, for lack of anything better, IMO.
I was thinking Nexus 6P, but it's just too big for me.
Nexus 5X, just kinda of too weak for me. (has less bands than Nexus 6P, actually)
I was thinking just a regular S6, but like the Active design better.
Just bought one,for durability, came from the V10 and loving it so far.
Succumbed
Well, I picked up this phone(64GB Version). Got it to update to 5.1.1.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but this phone is simply beautiful.
The weighting and feel is also very very nice.
It's a quite zippy and fast phone.
So far, on the whole I'm liking this phone alot.
However some points I've come across. Any suggestions or resolutions welcome.
Minor Dislikes:
Forced to see carrier's name on top-left of lock screen (Not just specific to this phone)
└ I'd prefer to see useful icons on the status bar(left-hand side) during the phone being locked.
Notifications Management
└ In order to remove Heads UP notifications, I've had to download an application like: HeadsOff└ Some applications, in order to see the icon in the status bar, the rectangular static notification remains on the lock screen, wasting screen real-estate. There's no way to remove this static notification from the lock screen without adjusting the settings to remove notifications from the app, and then that removes the icon in the status bar.└ Some applications like Accu Radio won't show the player controls on the lock screen. No matter what combination of notification settings are used. (Not really the phone's fault but..)
Fingerprint Scanner Lacking
└ While the Active doesn't have a fingerprint button to scan fingerprint to unlock the phone, I thought Samsung had some models that used the actual screen to do this. If so, the option would be nice to have on the Active
Headphone Jack Location (Not just specific to this phone)
└ I still don't see why phone makers are putting the jack at the top of the phone. Many people put their phone in their pocket. The natural insertion direction is the way one is holding it at the time of use, the top goes into the pocket first. Yet if the audio cable/jack is jutting out from the top, it makes it hard to put in the pocket, as well as decreases the life of the cable, etc. (not a deal-breaker, but an annoyance for sure)
Touchscreen SUPER sensitive
└ I've found that the screen is simply overly sensitive to touch and find myself many times mistakenly activating something else, before my finger even touches the screen.└ Currently I do not have a screen protector for the phone, so not sure this will matter.
Other's Pain points:
Speaker Location/Quality
└ While the speaker isn't in the best of locations, I haven't really noticed and sound degradation/quality. It's a mini speaker. We can't expect blasting Dolby 7.1 haha
Active Key easy to press accidently
└ I have not found any problem with this, and I typically don't encounter having this button activated unintentionally with my day to day use.└ Some applications like Accu Radio won't show the player controls on the lock screen. No matter what combination of notification settings are used. (Not really the phone's fault but..)

Add another dislike:
Samsung Touchwiz and how it handles, doesn't allow handling of LED definition.
Unfortunately, Samsung, in their infinite wisdom, have blown up their Touchwiz and made it virtually impossible for applications like Lightflow, to define custom LED colors for applications.
The best that can happen is that some 'workaround' by the author of Lightflow can be used, but that just leaves the Badges and Notifications icons on the status bar for you to clear out manually, after reading your email or messages.
Price to pay to have any control over LED.....
Just one more reason I want root....

Need some help with my new Phone

First of all, I love this phone. The main selling point for me was the massive battery and from there it's just getting better counting in the other features, but as always, nothing is perfect and I'm not that experienced with Android in general so figured I'd ask away here. As a disclaimer, for all the things below, I'm not interested in rooting the phone, feel free to write if rooting is the only option though and if doing so, what I am asking for would work.
Is there any way to turn off the volume warning? Like if you're going above 70%. Seems it's a lot less aggressive than on my old S9 though.
Is there any way to add a few more steps to the volume? It appears 15 is the highest volume at the moment. And the highest volume is a bit low for my taste, when listening to music. I'm using BOSE QC20's and while they sound great, I could use a few more steps. I used some App on my S9 but it didn't really sound that well. For comparison, on the PC you can put VLC on 200% AND turn up the volume on the headset as well, if you want.
What kind of screen protection would you advice? Or shouldn't I bother with that?
How water resistant is the phone? All I know is that there is no classification yet. Even it isn't, how would you rate it? Go Swimming? Drop it in a pool of water? Walk with it in the rain? Or panic if one droplet gets anywhere close to the speakers?
Can I dual charge the phone? As in, if the Fan is connected, can I put one charger in the bottom Type-C port and one into the fan?
What happens if I put the charger in the Red sideport? Not that I would, just curious as I saw a warning saying not to.
Similar to the dual charge, would a PC gaming headset work on the phone that uses 2 3.5mm pins? The sound pin would go into the fan and the mic pin would go into the bottom slot of the phone, or vice versa?
I've been trying to change the Notification sound and ringtone for Whatsapp using the same sounds I had for my S9. I've added both (Orange & Whisper) but they just don't want to work. I made them in .mp4 (aac), .mp3 & .oog formats. When I select them in the list, they are played as they should but when I get a message and/or recieve a call, the latest (standard) signal is instead used.
Update: I managed to get the notification sound to work now (Whisper). By going into the Phone Settings -> Notifications -> WhatsApp. Seems that option in there would override the App Settings. However, when I get a call now, BOTH the original ringtone and the S9 (Orange) one is played ontop of each other.
While we are on WhatsApp, how can I remove the big notifications. Like, there's 2 types. The one at the top of the screen (I want this) and then it's the big popup in the middle of the screen (that has a reply field and some more options (I don't want this). I remember it was a hassle to get rid of on my S9 so thought I'd ask.
Bug or feature? When I'm inside a program and exit back to the Home screen, I've noticed the "locked" bottom row starts jumping, as if they want to swipe up. I'm using the Two-Layer mode. Not sure if it's a bug or a feature "showing" me there's stuff down there.
Last but not least, can I move the clock on the lockscreen? It's currently in the top left corner, I'd prefer to have it centered.
Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance!
I've replied in line to the questions I can answer.

Not very, there doesn't appear to be any waterproofing, check the sim card tray for example, no rubber seal.

You could but the phone isn't going to charge twice as fast, I think it'll likely only charge from one port but shouldn't do any damage.
What happens if I put the charger in the Red sideport? Not that I would, just curious as I saw a warning saying not to.
People say it dies but I haven't tried it, it's not the same as a C port so you'd have to force it.

No, there's no mic in option afaik.

Probably a feature as I think I've seen that on some pixel launchers but I don't use the stock one personally.
1) There isn't;
2) You can only set Outdoor Mode on, but the volume will go up, no volume steps wil be added;
3) I think you should go for one with good comments, since you have the fingerscan under the display and a screen protection may void It;
4) the phone is not certified for water/dust resistance. So, just avoid contact with water. Tho, I don't think some raindrop will ruin it;
5) You cannot dual charge the phone;
6) The Red sideport is a Trademark Port made by Asus exclusively for their optional accessories. So, just leave It alone if you don't wanna be sorry;
7) No such phone will ever have the drivers made for Windows/MacOs which makes the headset to work on a personal computer;
8) You can have this setted on the Sound Settings;
9) You can have this setted on the Notification Settings;
10) that's a feature;
11) you must use third part apps for that.
Thank you so much, both of you.
The volume warning is a lot less of a pain than I initially thought. The one on the S9 is rather agressive so had some bad experiences. Can't say I notice any diff with Outdoor mode but I'll try more later, suppose it's fine.
Good point about the screen protection, I'll definately keep the fingerprint sensor in mind.
The waterproofing, or non-waterproofing rather is one of the Con's of the phone I suppose. Not that it's an issue but I'd rather not care at all as I could with my old phone. Thanks for clarifying though. My dad lost his old iPhone 6 to having his phone in the rain so I kinda know the limit then (as that also lacked any kind of cert).
No dual charging, makes sense. One takes prio.
Yeah, I'll not mess with the red port. @willhemmens, dies as in "throw the phone and buy a new one" or "phone shuts off but just restart and it's fine". (Like, battery is dead/dies). Just curious here really.
I see, that's too bad. Suppose I'd have to get one of those 2 becomes 1 3.5mm cable adapters.
@NajimKiSaad, that's just for the phone ringtone/sms though? This is for Whatsapp exclusively. It's as if a WhatsApp call triggers as a normal call as well as it's own settings, kinda.
Hm, where? Settings -> Apps & Notifications -> WhatsApp -> Notifications, it's set to - Behavior: Make Sound. Same in the App itself, Popup is not enabled anywhere.
"Bug or feature? When I'm inside a program and exit back to the Home screen, I've noticed the "locked" bottom row starts jumping, as if they want to swipe up. I'm using the Two-Layer mode. Not sure if it's a bug or a feature "showing" me there's stuff down there."
Well, that's good to know. How do I disable it? I just find it annyoing.
And for the clock widget on the Lockscreen, any recommendations? I like the style of the default one, just the position is kinda off.
Once again, thanks for all the answers!
Not related to your questions but have you felt that this phone just cuts off the internet connection to Whatsapp? I don't get notifications after a while and the Whatsapp Web says that my phone is not connected to internet even though there is internet. Whatsapp only starts working when I open this app. Then, I get all the messages. I have allowed unrestricted internet access to this app and turned off battery optimization for this app. Any ideas?
That's interesting, I haven't had it as you describe it no but since I got the phone, I've noticed the "last online" doesn't always show on my friend I have on WA. Could be that she has turned it off but it works sometimes.
Looking at the top bar on the phone, I added internet speed and it says 0 B/s quite often so my guess is that it only uses internet on demand, maybe it has something to do with that?

Think I might have seen a post about it too, could be wrong though.

Question Edge Lighting Not Working?

My faithful Samsung S5 Mini finally died and still getting head around quite a lot of things as I've only had the phone for a few days but for the life of me I cant seem to get the edge lighting to work...
The phone was on Color OS 11 but auto updated to 12 (CPH2173_11_C.46), unfortunately I never got the chance to test it on Color OS 11 so don't know if it ever has / did work.
If I go Settings > Personalisations > Edge Lighting there is the option to pick one of three colours, this shows an animation of a simulated effect but doesn't demo it on the actual screen.
Found a few guides online but they seem to be for Color OS 11, the menus are different and many options don't exist any more - I have reset the phone phone as recomented when upgrading to a new Android version but this has made no difference.
Pretty sure It's something simple I've missed like some obscure notification setting but compared to the S5 Mini its a whole new level of complex lol
Rather randomly the AoD works fine, just not the edge lighting.
Thanks in advance
Do you have "wake screen when a notification is received" on? This might disable edge lighting.
The edge lighting is poor anyway, it only flashes twice so blink and you'll miss it.
Plus they massively reduced the options in 12 so it's pretty hard to see. Big backwards step IMO.
Thanks for the reply. Checked the settings and got the mrs to send an SMS whilst i hand the phone in front of me, as you said it flashed twice and that was it - looks like a typical case of operator error as I was expecting it to work in a similar way to a good old fashioned notification LED and flash until the notification had been cleared
Will have a look around for a half decent app that offers something close enough to how I was thinking it worked.

Oh no they don't work like that, in my Samsung S10, the edge lighting worked in similar fashion as the Oppo. I would imagine it would take too much energy if it were flashing until you cleared it (say if you get a message while you are sleeping). Maybe AOD is the better alternatives as you can glance your screen and see any incoming messages or missed calls, and even that, they figured it would drain battery too as now they have a setting to turn off AOD after prolonged period of idle.
I wish LED notification make a come back, but I'm not holding my breath for it.
I cant even get the Oppo to edge light. I have an app Always On Edge (or AOE) from playstore. This is worth the effort.
Fully cutomisable. Try it out.

You didn't miss anything. I've been on Oppo for years, Edge Lighting always worked until Android 12. Now it straight up doesn't do anything and it's very frustrating.

I'm facing the same issue after Android 12 update on my Oppo Reno6. I have already tried out all methods, but nothing worked. it's frustrating me.
