Question for someone who has the official Samsung Clear View case - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Accessories

Are you able to turn off the automatic unlock in Settings - Accessories like you can on the Note 4 with the Sview case? If so, does that allow Always On to work with this case?

Here's a shot of my S7e accessories settings screen with the clearview case fitted. As you can see, I have automatic unlocking disabled. AOD only works while the cover flap is open, though. If you close the cover, you get a different display with clock and possibly music controls (if something is playing). The controls allow pausing through the flap, but this display mode only lasts a few seconds before the screen goes completely off (no AOD).

Thanks. So it looks like the Always On feature will not work. Does the dual clock stay on or will the screen go dark after a while?

Another note on the clearview. If you use your device with the flap folded all the way around and against the back of the device for more than a few seconds, it will not stay closed when you fold it back in front of the screen. As soon as you set the device backside down on a surface, the flap comes open and the screen comes on. You have to lay the device down face first for awhile to re-train the cover to stay closed.
This wouldn't be that big a deal, but my wireless charging stand holds the device up at an angle and then the cover opens up.

Thanks. It may seem strange to some but one of my main reasons for buying the phone is the ability to see the time without having to open a case or touch a button. So this case will not be for me.
Thanks again.

EDIT: User ramheer has pointed out the info below is not correct, and I have been able to confirm this on my device. I don't know what caused my problem the other day, but apparently it wasn't the clear view case. Sorry about that.
----------
In the spirit of providing as much info as possible about this case, my ongoing experience revealed the following fact this morning:
You cannot fast charge the phone while it is in this case.
I put the phone on its original fast charger this morning (I usually charge it on a wireless stand by my bed at night), and noticed the lock screen just said "Charging" and not "Fast Charging" as I had seen before.
Curious, I placed it on another fast charger I had with the same results. I then switched the cable out with the factory cable on the original factory charger, but still didn't see the "Fast Charging" status.
After I thought about it for a few seconds, I removed the phone from the clear view case and plugged the factory charger and cable back in. lnstantly, the phone's Charging status changed to "Fast Charging".
I have another nice case for this phone (the Incipio - I like it, though others on XDA have panned it a bit), and can confirm that the phone has no problem fast charging while in the Incipio case.
I actually like the clear view case in spite of its flaws, mainly because I don't feel so uncomfortable about scratching the screen while keeping the phone in my front jeans pocket, but at this point it would be impossible for me to recommend this flawed accessory. Look elsewhere for a cover-style case.

The important thing for this case is not to have the scratches problem like s6 edge. Can you confirm that we are OK with this.

I am aware this was a problem with the S6 models and some of the official cases.
All I can say is that so far I have been using the case whenever I leave home with the phone in my pocket, and so far haven't got any scratches visible on either the screen or elsewhere on the phone's external surfaces.
I didn't own an S6, so I don't know if this was true for its official cover-style cases, but the cover flap on this case seems to float very slightly above the surface of the phone's screen at all times.
The thought had crossed my mind that perhaps some of the problems people have been reporting about the phone's screen sensitivity causing problems with registering touches when your finger is just very close to, but not touching, the screen's surface may be due to Samsung tuning the screen to respond to touches on a clear view case flap which is close to, but not touching, the screen.

Hi
I did not know it kills AOD function when I bought the clear-cover case. It was actually the main reason I preferred it rather than s-view and led versions (really, how it recognizes which one is used and showing contents differently for each?) anyways, is it worth/possible to remove magnet from the case so that AOD may function as it should?

OK this may seem an odd question but if you fold back the top of the clear view case, can you get the always on to work?

Huh, you're quite right - my phone is now fast charging just fine with the case on. I have rebooted a couple of times since I reported this incident - possibly something got reset.
Still, it's weird that I could get it to fast charge without the case and not with it, but now I can. I repeated my steps several times the other day before posting about it.
Thanks for letting me know. I'll edit my post to prevent spreading bad info.

Looking for case

I have a case with a weird issue. Its grabbing my nexus 7 so tight that its squeezing the power button internally or something so screen goes off immediately after unlocking. It doesn't happen at all without case on. Gonna return it to amazon and grab a new one since I've been super clumsy lately and don't want to break my new toy. Any suggestions? Edit screen turning on and off appears to have something to do with light any ideas what it might be?

What kind of case is it? Many cases have a magnet in the lid, that should shut down the screen when the lid is put over the screen.
Some cheap cases also seem to have a bit too powerful magnet, so even if the lid is turned behind the screen, nexus 7 still detects it and shuts down the screen.
Does your case have a magnet?

Sorry, I didn't see this at first.
The Nexus 7 has a wake/sleep sensor, which is activated by the presence/absence of a magnet. As noted in the last post, if your case is compatible with the sensor, then when you open the case's cover, the N7 wakes up. When you close the cover, it will go to sleep.
(I wish I would go to sleep that easily!)

ah weird thought it had something to do with the lighting. then why was i able to duplicate the result by moving the camera around the ceiling fan light bulb? couldn't do it without the case on though so that has to be part of the cause. anyway i can't see a magnet but doesn't mean it's not embedded in there. this is the case by the way http://www.amazon.com/MoKo-Slim-fit...=1356622879&sr=8-1&keywords=moko+nexus+7+case
Alot of those cheaper cases use magnets that are too strong and flipping the lid over turns off the screen from the back. I owned a Blurex case just like that one and I liked it alot actually. Because of the design, I can't imagine it has anything to do with the power button.
Play with the lid, as I suspect that is your problem. You may be able to put a piece of tin-foil behind the N7 so the magnet's effect is tainted from behind. That or pick up a new case. I really liked that style of case as it felt very protected. I eventually moved to the Poetic slim case (iPad style) but the quality was disturbing. After a few weeks the plastic started to buckle and tear.
I ended up with a Portenzo Book Case that I like very much. It has a great feel to it, doesn't add bulk, and looks very nice. Overall it is holding up very well. The tablet is held in by 2 3M sticky pads. The top, bottom, and button-sides are exposed. The magnets were adjusted during initial releases and working perfectly.

Flip cases that do not cover notification LED, USB and volume rocker

I've searched and searched but so far found nothing perfect.
I'm looking for a case that is thin and protects the screen. Something like the original Samsung flip case, but better designed.
I have some requests that so far have killed ALL the cases I've seen - I found none yet matching all:
Must haves:
1-Notification LED visible as I want to be able to glance at the phone on the desk and be aware of new SMS/calls without having to open it.
2-USB dock accessible as I often charge the phone in places where having the case open wouldn't be handy
3-Volume/Power buttons easily accessible, preferably, exposed directly.
4-Cutout for speaker and mic, so that calls can be maintained after the case is flipped closed.
5-SPen easily accessible.
Nice to have:
6-If possible, it should be vertical-oriented and not be too thick, nor fugly.
So far I found no flip cover that matches at least ALL the first 5 requests. Any suggestions? Thanks.
I have the oem flip cover and although it covers the volume button it is thin and I've had no problem adjusting the volume while it's closed. I always use it closed when I'm in a call. Keeps my yucky face off the screen.
Just a little input for you in case you haven't actually handled the phone with this flip cover installed.
As far as the led cut out I know I watched a you tube review of a flip cover case that had a cut out for led.I remember because the guy doing the review got it wrong at first and thought the opening was for the camera...then turned the phone over and saw the blinking led...
Trying to remember which case though. Saw it in one of these threads....

As for the Samsung default case, keeping it closed might be indeed handy while on calls. I have imagined myself holding it with the case on the back but it doesn't seem comfortable. If the volume buttons remain easily pressible even with the cover, I guess I can live with that.
However, the covers block the screen, so during the day at work I will not be able to quickly realize if there is an SMS or other event (we usually have the phones on vibrate and on the desk). Being able to see the led would be great as that would allow to keep the cover closed. Surprising to see how samsung finally added LEDs to SGS3 and Note 2 but didn't bother to make them visible on the case.
Going to try to google some more, perhaps something with a LED cutout shows up.
Found it. I must be bored today!

The noreve leather flip case. Has cut outs for all buttons and the led.
It flips vertically instead of to the side...

Thanks planetbeen, that is exactly the format I was looking for. It is amazing how hard it is to find flip cases with LED cutouts. If the screen is completely covered, I figured having the LED visible would be useful in any case.
about 47 Eur/65 USD. Pricey, but1 the materials look good and there are cutouts for notification LED and even camera. There's even a belt clip option available for 6 Eur. Nice, very nice.
http://www.noreve.com/langue/en/product/Samsung_Galaxy_Note_2_Tradition_leather_case.html
Now that I grabbed the free flip cover from the Facebook promo, when it gets here, I will drill a hole in the cover where the notification light is.
I bought the LGND Premium Hard-Shell Folio It's not too bad. I like. You can kinda see the light come thru center ear mesh hole area.
I took a better look at the Noreve and sadly, it seems they forgot something... there is no cutout for the USB dock. That means you cannot charge the device without opening the flip. Very annoying and not practical in some cases.
Also, the phone cannot be used on calls with the flip closed... there is no cutout for the speaker nor the mic at bottom. Nothing in the designed seemed to make this impossible, but they simply decided not to add it or overlooked the feature.
I guess my search for a flip case with "cut out holes for everything" remains active... there are several cases that have SOME of the features but so far, none with all cutouts.

I tried to do an LED mod on a few cases, but it failed. I used a leather hole punch and got a perfect circle cut out where the LED is. I used ridiculously strong epoxy to glue the metal studs on for a different flare. Also, the weight of the studs really keep it closed (although it really does seem to stay closed nicely. Fits the phone perfectly, very minimal.

Modding the leather is a possibility. Should be easy for the led light, as easy as punching a new hole in a belt. Not so sure about the USB port.
Still, it feels a bit wrong to have that trouble with cases costing a lot of money (like the Noreves) because the manufacturers don't bother to add a little tweak to new models.
If nothing perfect shows up I'll probably go with that approach tho. Don't want to drop the Note and fracture the glass like on my SGS2.

Noreve screwed up on all cover designs for the Note 2.
My favorite (model A, with the flip) has no USB/mic/speaker slots.
That side-flip one, model B that you mention, has indeed USB+Led+Mic but has no speaker for voice calls while closed. And as far as I can tell, the volume buttons are also not easily accessible while closed (I use them often while playing audio).
The quest continues. Meanwhile, I got this cheap one that has all the features I need except the LED cutout. Other than that, all buttons/holes are accessible and you can fully use it closed, including for charging and talking. Material is probably nasty, but functionality appears to be better.
Since it costs about $5, drilling the hole won't be as annoying as doing it to $50 covers. :fingers-crossed:
Still no Note II nor case but both should arrive tomorrow. I suspect the case will be acceptable but will not close all that good as it has no magnet.
If anyone else finds one matching those requests on the first post, please share... :fingers-crossed:
The Spigen SGP wallet case is the best case I currently own. It is on the expensive side but it is worth it!
I'd just be happy with a simple "Barely There"-style case that has a slot for credit cards, like the one I had on my GS2.
Going to bump this up a little as I'm wondering if there are more offers in the market now... that is, flip cases with LED holes...

Looks like they dont want you talking on the phone with this thing..
On a side note: how do these things actually work? Does it constantly keep your phone in charging mode (until the external battery is drained)? or does the phone use your main battery, THEN switch to the external battery (or vice versa)? (sorry I have never used one of these on any phone...only seen them for crapple phones)

I don't think it is a good idea using a case like this since it does nothing to protect the front glass edges of the Note 2 since it is snapping on primarily through the back. If you drop your Note 2 with this on, there is a good chance it will be against the front edges of the glass display and the notable amount of added weight increases the chance of cracking. It is much better to have a standard case that provides a lip and get a cheap $10 spare battery.

I went and checked out the one that ATT has(also listed on web site). It's $99 retail and the battery is in the face cover. The cover is extremely thick and heavy. To my surprise when I went to fold the cover close it wouldn't close. the battery/cover hits the screen of the phone. If you press hard it will lie flat but there is no clasp to close it. The guy at the store couldn't figure it out either. It seemed like a totally terrible design.

I have had a similar one for a while now , in white color costs about 30$ here in singapore , its quite good and sturdy , the drawback mainly is that you cant remove the stylus when you have this case on . but otherwise the case and the battery is good hope we get a better design with the option to remove the spen or hook it up somewhere in the case should also be fine.. instead of in the phone..
Found this by accident while searching for a charger. $25 + $2 shipping. Available in black or white. Built in kickstand.

I just ordered the case that the OP posted. I will let you know as well how I like it. It isn't the perfect design but for the basic functionality of having an extra battery built into the case is good enough for me. The factory battery is already pretty good if you know how to maximize the life of it. I won't use the case everyday, but only during those times when I really need a extra long battery life and don't have access to a charger. And for just under $25 it looks like a good deal to me
Thanks for sharing OP

It seems like the international version of LG G2 is not compatible with the Quick Window cases coming from Korea. Aside from the OEM ones that obviously does not fit due to the removable back in Korea, even the after market ones are not working at the time being.

It could be just one case I got, which is branded as ‘Send view cover’, does not correctly display the quick window. I am assuming the location of the magnet to trigger the quick window is different from Korean ones to the international ones. I must say the case is very well made and feels good in the hands.
I had activated the quick windows setting and put the cover on, yet the quick window does not work.
Sure the case looks very well made, and for the money I paid compared to the original case, I was very happy with it. That is, only if the darn quick windows worked. This thing even has the cover on the quick view area!
Looks very nice with the case on. I’ll probably have to get an OEM case which I don’t like it too much, but if that’s the only one working, so be it. I just hope no other person waste their money on the Korean cases.
Me 2
I got one from eaby, doesn't work either.
Fifty euros is wayy to much to buy one in the normal shops.
Pity guys...thanks for sharing tho.My korean model will work i guess, but i was looking one with removable back to be slimmer, they cost way to much atm tho...
Have you guys switched it on the accessories section in settings?

From your pics, it appears you're missing the magnet to trigger the phone into quick window mode. With the case on, and the flap open, there should be a circular magnet along the right side of the window, centered about a third up from the bottom of the window. The outline is clearly visible on my case. Try taping a magnet there and closing the flap. If it works, there's your problem.
I actually checked the magnet but it did not trigger the quick window view

You're using either a too weak magnet, or too strong. I can trigger it. Let me see if I can get a video up.
Cool thanks. I'll double check later when I get a chance.

Here's the video.

Ignore the last sentence of the video. I was rushing and wasn't thinking. If you put the magnet on the back, quick window won't turn off. It has to be on the front flap.
Thanks. Ivdont have the case with me at the moment, I'll check when I get back to work on Tuesday. I think there was a magnet but was triggering to turn the device off, never actually getting the quick Windows to work. Might have been a bad batch? But I'll definitely double check. I do have T-Mobile version if that makes any difference.

my case has just arrived today and I encounter the same problem. Have you tried the method explained before?
I really like the case, it's well built and not as expensive as the OEM one.
I purchased same case on eBay...I emailed them and they refunded me my money and get to keep the case. I figured i could find a way to put a stronger magnet.

I have a different ebay case, but the same problem. Putting a more powerfull magnet on top of the case one is helping, so apparently it needs some modding.
Guys im interested to buy the integrated original case for F320S,but not pay an arm and a leg that some are asking for it lol.If anyone has a link with a decent price i would appriaciate it.
Also happening with a nice flip case i bought from Ebay, I found that i could trigger it easily by taking the case off, then placing the front cover onto the phone and moving it up till the quick window appears, at which case it works each time i lift it away from the phone and back tho basically useless at the end of the day.
I can feel the magnet on the side and i guess it's not in the correct position, it's not in the same place for all phone models so you will need the official case from your region which means more $.
My korean F320s works fine with the original european case.I just got one (the korean was 25 more euros to import..)
Here in the Netherlands have LG a really good deal. If you write a review about the phone then you will get a quickwindow case for free. (Black or white)
But it really sucks if your Korean version is not compatible. I think you can better by the version for your phone.
Is it not possible to move the magnet?

Official Sony Z2 Tablet Case

This case I ordered with the tablet and it has been in it from the start. I like this case.
Tablet in case, closed

The case will z fold for a stand. Ridges in the inside prevent slipping
Case open on desk
Closer up on z fold
Case will roll up stand too. I don't think this is as secure, but may allow it to be in dock. I don't have a dock to test it.
Case has a cut out to enable dock use without removing the case. I don't yet have the official dock, but it fits in my third party one I use for my Z1 phone
Case closed. Is very thin.
The tablet clips at the corners, securely but not too firm. All ports, flaps and buttons are perfectly accessible. Here are the corner clips.
The case closes with a thin magnetic flap, and of course it's a smart cover to cut down on power button wear.
I like it. Not looking for another one.
Happy to answer any questions.

I ordered the case with my tablet too, my only gripe is that the headphone socket is on the bottom of the tablet so when the case is used as a stand in the most stable setting you can't plug headphones in!!!
The box shows a triangle fold to allow space for the headphones but it doesn't feel as steady, why oh why did Sony put the headphone socket on the bottom long edge of the tablet??? Why not on the same side as the volume and power buttons?
Ah. I have bluetooth receivers in my hi fi at home, and I use bluetooth apt-X headphones so I never even noticed where the headphone socket was on the tablet.
I don't actually see how you could plug headphones in at all with the tablet in this case when using the landscape stand

I've got the noise cancelling ones that use the tablet to do the noise cancelling, there's a picture on the box that the case comes in to show how it's meant to be but it means the tablet sits higher so isn't as stable

Some apps still insists on setting the orientation themselves and won't rotate 180°.
So yeah it sucks that the jack is at the bottom...
There are orientation apps that will allow you to force 180

Shouldn't need an app, the socket should have been on the side.............
I have just received the case but I'm not really happy with it!
The magnetic shutter always covers the infrarot port so that it's unusable. In addition to that, when the case is closed and im holding it vertically in my hands, the magnet is not strong enough and the case opens. I also have problems with the charging dock, I always have to open the case and put the back aways in order for it to suit in the dock, this is really stupid! What is your experience with this points?
I also find it relatively heavy and thick, the tablet doesn't lay as good in my hands as before...

The magnetic flap folds flat against the back of the case and holds itself out of the way of you need it to. At least it does on mine.
Yep, for the dock you do have to have the cover folded over, so that's how I do it. It's only in the dock when I'm asleep so not much of a problem.
If I hold the tablet with the case closed I can get the front to slip, the closing flap isn't that strong. It hasn't popped open in my bag so I've not worried about it so far.
I think it's just the right thickness. There is a full plastic tray for the tablet to sit in for rigidity.
At the end of the day, cases are ultra personal. I've been lucky with this Sony Style case, it suits me fine. I've still not found the perfect case for my xperia Z1, and I've tried all the ones that others think are great

I've ordered one for my tab but I'm not looking forward to it all that much. The front-only cover on my Nexus 10 was almost perfect (would have been perfect if it was foldable).
I haven't actually received my Z2 yet but do any of you think a front-only cover is achievable? Based on what I have seen in pictures, my guess is no

What were they thinking
Seriously why oh why put the headphone jack at the bottom of a device meaning you can't use it in a cover stand when on the move or in a public place and need to use earphones. It's a serious design flaw.
Can anyone post pics of their tab in the case and with headphones in? I've just ordered the official case. I live the tab and bought it knowing the headphone was in the worst place possible but hoping in a case and using with earphones that it's not that unstable. Anyone confirm!?
There is a hole for headphones at the bottom left of the official case. So there shouldn't be anything to worry for you.
Edit: Unless you really want to stand the tablet with headphones plugged in. Theoretically there ist one position where you can let the headphone jack plugged in but I can't get this position to stay stable.
But if the case is closed or only open on the front there is no problem with headphones.
Does this case add much weight?
Great official case
I take it all back. The official case is perfect to use with headphones in 2 positions. It is light and feels sturdy in both positions say when on a train or flight. It's also light and doesn't add bulk.
I'm certainly pleased with the case. It does what I need it to while watching movies on the go and when I want to rest the case on a flat surface.
Where are you guys finding the Sony cases? I don't see them on the Sony Store website. Are you using the Z1 cases?

Thanks. just as I thought. they're not available in the U.S. yet, probably because the tablet hasn't been released yet.
Amazon has a few for $45 US if anyone is interested.
Cheaper than the original Z Folder Cover!
The one i found in a shop was £60!
Thanks for the pics. Very clear.
