This is my Sound Mod Thread for S7

Why do you post this on the Sprint forum when we don't have ROOT.

Because I don't know that you can't root this model. Sorry

how did you not know? it was obvious we don't have root admin needs to close this thread

For those that want a decent sound mod without root check out noozoxoide in the play store. Has some decent eq presets and a good bass booster. No volume boost but sounds better imo than the eq crap Samsung pre-installed

Have you tried this on an S7? This hasn't been updated in a couple of years, and most of the recent comments on the Pro version say it doesn't work any more.

So, no way to boost volume without rooting the phone?

Yep. Use it everyday. Either one in the playstore works. Just make sure u disable the integrated eq like sound alive and adapt sound etc. U will need package disable for some of the eq apps.

Found a better non root sound solution for those still not satisfied with stock sound which let's face it, who would be? So I found a version of dolby digital that doesn't require root of course and let me tell u, it sounds pretty darn amazing. It has a 5 band eq and bass boost. Has presets or user control. I use it in tandem with my new LG tone ultra! The bass is stoopid booming and the highs are crystal clear! Every headphone is different so ymmv. But for those using LG tones, they will sound better than beats after you tweak to your liking. Search for "no root dolby digital" in Google. I think it is that first result. Install as normal apk then access it thru the app you use for music via settings.

I have a rooted S7, would you be willing to make a mod for the Galaxy S7 Sprint variant. I have the mixer_paths.xml file, but our variants do not have a mixer_gain.xml file.

For those who want high quality sound at low price, use SOUND MAGIC ear-phones
They are build with high-quality and the sound quality is not less than any premium ear-phones out there.
MP-21 ($25 apprx -> Good BASS, comes with mic and single button(fully compatible with our device. Pick call, pause/next/previous song)
PL-11($13 apprx) -> Heavy BASS (no mic and button)
PL-30 ($25 -> Balanced and detailed sound (ideal for jogging because of the desing, 2 level bass controller on the eat piece, no mic, button)
Do your research before You buy them, after all its my personal opinion

[Q] Can anybody tell me something about this Walkman music app?

I got this Walkman app from a rom (I can't remember which one). But I can't seem to find anything like it.
Can anyone tell me if its the original app or a mod or a miui or something?
I've attached the apk if you want to see it for yourself. But it can't be installed from the SD card normally. I have to put it in /system/app of my rom and flash it for the app to work. I don't know if its a permission thing but kudos if you could figure it out.
Here's some screenshots:

Also, the interesting thing about this app is that it can choose from my music library when I set my ringtones or alarms. I haven't seen any other app that can do this.
You will not find any real Walkman player around here. Only MIUI Music mods.
That's what I found out too by searching XDA and google. That's why I'm curious about this app.

How did you come across this file? It's the ..... strangest thing. Perhaps its origins may shed more light on its true nature ....
It came with a rom I used before. My guess is that its from one of the early versions of GingerXperia by xperiafan13 but I'm not quite sure. Also, the only other rom I really use is doxianh's GDX. Did you try the app? Its actually a decent music player in my opinion.

Does this mean its the original walkman app? and not just some miui o mod? And if it is the original walkman app, has there been any update to it? As I said its a decent music player unfortunately the look of its UI is quite outdated.

I think it could have really came from xgin since there was an issue with the "originality" of GingerXperia a few months ago, if I remember correctly.

Sweet! Now on the quest for an update from any possible forum!
Google result with the new info about xgin and this app resulted to this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1081515http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1081515
Its not quite the app I was talking about but I'll try it anyways. Who knows this could be a newer version of this app.
UPDATE:
I tried the app from the link and unfortunately I don't think its a version of the app. The UI is quite different and it also doesn't have the option to choose from my music library in setting ringtones or alarms. It also had fewer options like the shake to skip. So the hunt continues

Questions for Note 3 Owners

When you guys were on the Note 2 before updating to the Note 3 (or any Galaxy device), how long did it take for the update(s) to come out where you would get the UI from the Galaxy S device? For example, the phone, web browser, texting UI, etc updated for the Note 2 and it looks similar to the S4. Like I understand it's hard to explain, but I was wondering when will our Note 3's look like the S5's TW ui?
The answer is maybe never. Think about it you buy a device with one look learn it then they force a whole new look on you. This would outrage probably most novice users.

Can I get this without rooting or voiding my warranty? I hate Knox, but I don't want to trip it and I rather keep my warranty intact. I rooted my old Note on Verizon, but then unrooted it later and it's warranty is unvoided, but I rather not root alltogether and keep it clean.

nice, but it would be good if the video shows how is the sound before and after applying the mod.
and, as we are going to use the ear piece to play sounds, does it have any other effects as ear piece isn't designed to play sounds at higher volumes etc..,

They got it from XDA in the first place. Check out the OP to see who's mod it is and where it comes from.
There's also some newer versions in that thread that reduce distortion as well as enable true stereo (separate left & right channel audio).

I wonder if it's actually wise to crank up the volume on the earpiece. Nice thought, but I need my earpiece to work for phone calls. I can always use headphones or bluetooth speaker for music. (which will sound much better)

this is a foolproof mod i would say... when headset is connected, phone does what it is meant to do.! only when main speaker works, earpiece also work...
and during incall if you put loud speaker, sound doesn't get mixed! so all works perfectly and does what its meant to do!
like you said, earpiece isnt meant to handle such volumes, which is why during notification arrival, if the volume is set to high, you can hear a creaking sound... but this can be avoided if sound is kept below 60-70%...

It is the most interesting mod i have ever seen on android .
since i got my nexus i didn't like the sound quality at all , But making the earpiece to act as a speaker is a nice idea .
Now there is some balance in the sound direction .
Thank you for sharing :good:

Dexcom g6 app

As a type 1 diabetic, I use the dexcom g6 along with my insulin pump to manage things. I've been using an s7 edge for years now and it's been a great experience. The phone finally crapped out and I decided on the pixel 4 xl. Love this phone. What I don't love is that the dexcom app doesn't work for it. I saw another thread about modification to the app itself to get it to be functional and rooted the phone in preparation. I'm stumped about the proper steps to modifying an app to work with this phone though. Would anyone care to assist in my project to get my Dexcom app for working with this pixel 4XL? It would be greatly appreciated.

You should contact the developers to update the app. I don't see why it wouldn't be compatible if they listed the 3 older Pixel phones. It's really deceiving that the Play Store listing let's you install the app yet says not compatible when you open it.

The problem isn't the Pixel 4XL. The problem is the app will not work with android 10.0. My wife uses this app also. She was using it on the Pixel 2. As soon as it was updated from Android 9.0 to 10.0 the app just wouldn't work. We both have Pixel 4 XL's now. She kept her Pixel 2 and downgraded it to 9.0 just so she could run the dexcom app. I've emailed the developers about updating it to be compatible with 10.0 but I've only received a generic response that they will in the near future. That was almost 5 months ago.
I see the thread you are referring to and that is not a modification to the app/apk. This is simply a hack to modify the build.prop file on your device to make the app think it is a different (older device), and some fixes to a file the app uses probably to restrict running on what they deem incompatible devices. If you follow the instructions on the thread, it sounds like you should be able to get this working.
You do not edit the apk, you need to edit the build.prop on your device (use something like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.joeykrim.buildpropeditor). Reboot after so it becomes active. Then install the app using a file explorer and selecting the apk. Next you will need to copy the xml file that is modified where he mentions, and rename it. That is it...
https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...om-g6-incompatible-device-workaround-t3943297
I know this is probably a dead thread, but for anyone who finds it while googling for pixel 4 dexcom, you can make your own modded version that skips the Android version check, as well as some other cool features, here https://www.reddit.com/r/diabetes/comments/fqvmng/oc_build_your_own_dexcom_app_update_base_version/
