Marshmallow builds comparison - P8lite General

Hi, everybody.
Sorry if I post this thread in wrong section.
Howewer I hope that this thread would be an aid for thus want to try the different beta builds of our phone.
Ok. So.
1. Dual SIM B170 --- B188 --- (possible 190 or 194) --- B524 --- B550.
- all is fluent.
2. Single SIM B171 --- B525
- all is fluent
- howewer this build cannot upgrade to B550
- seems that developpement freeze at beta build stage (waiting for final build)
- oh, and surprise: You CAN use dual SIM. Yes its true, i flashed over dual sim model (so i guess that this works only on Dual Sim models)
3. Chinese firmware B535 (--- exist the beta build 551, but that doesnt leaked)
- all is fluent
BUT. The BIG difference between these builds is that the Chinese firmware come with MANY more functions, than the others: SmartCare, Camera modes, Barcodes in Messaging, Yellow Pages in Dialer, and so Many others (maybe I would collect them for the whole list)
So I use the Chinese build. With little tweak is wery well usable. You have little areas with chinese options (for example you must change the keyboard from chinese to huawei swype), but it isnt annoying.
Oh, and if you register an huawei account on chinese site, well, you have many other possibilities from this build.
I recommend this build over the others.
P.S. I would make a voting for those builds too but i dont know how (maybe the moderators...)

i have got b150... can i go for b170?

I've read that some are using the chinese version, but i couldn't found info how to get it.
All HowTos und firmware links lead to C432B550 or C432B524 in the end.
Could you post details how to get the chines beta on an european phone?

Hello,
Finally we get EMUI 4.0 on P8 Lite. Few days ago I decided to change the location of my phone ALE-L21 because China goes beta test of 6.0 but with Chinese firmware installed on the B230 on ALE-UL00. And today the new Android 6.0 was successfully installed on my phone!
Cheers
FIRST and foremost you need change the location!!! to
unicomelectric/cn
To install OTA(EMUI 4.0) update is necessary to change your location and the Chinese version of the software B230
So here the OTA B535
Just put update.zip(1.1GB) into dload folder on your SDCard or internal memory!!! Then install as local update!
Guide how to install EMUI 4.0 Android 6.0 ALE-UL00C00B535 on device ALE-L21(P8 Lite)
Requirements
1.Unlocked bootloader
2. Rooted device
How to Change Region of Your Huawei Honor 4C [Root]
You can change the region of your Huawei Honor 4C and gain the ability to flash firmware from other countries by a few tweaks to the files that hold country settings. This step-by-step tutorial will guide you through the entire process and provide you with the files required.
Huawei Honor 4C
1. Requirements
Full root access
ES File Explorer (Root Explorer is not recommended at all!)
Backup of your current stock recovery and custom recovery
Full Nandroid backup of all partitions
OEM Info File (download here)
Warning: Although you might find this tempting, there’s a high chance that you’ll brick your phone in the process. That’s why you’re strongly advised to keep a handy nandroid backup. We hold no responsibility for any kind of damage caused during or after this procedure. You proceed entirely at your own risk!
2. Procedure
Step 1: First of all, find out your current vendor/country info. One way to do this is by dialing *#*#2846579#*#* – from the menu that pops up go to Network Information > Vendor/Country Info. Some of the vendors/countries are:
hw/spcseas – Malaysia
unicomelectric/cn – China
hw/meafnaf – Pakistan
mts/by – Belarus
Step 2: Now that you know your region information, open ES File Explorer and turn “Root Explorer” on from the menu in the sidebar. Select “/” (device) from the bar above and go to “Data”. Open custom.bin using the ES Note Editor. You’ll see the same vendor and country information in this file as you previously saw in engineering mode. Clear the text and insert the text corresponding to the region you wanna shift to. For example, if I were moving from Pakistan to Malaysia, I’d clear “hw/meafnaf” from custom.bin and insert “hw/spcseas” instead.
When you’re done, save the file and make sure its permissions are set to rw-rw-rw in its properties.
Step 3: Now download the OEM Info package from above and extract it. Inside the oeminfo folder, take the oeminfo file of the country you’re shifting to and copy it to [/device]/dev/block/hi_mci.0/by-name/. Replace the file that’s already present in by-name folder. I repeat – replace the file – don’t delete it! Make sure you’re doing this only through ES File Explorer. Make sure this file has rwx rwx rwx permissions.
Step 4: Finally, if you’ve done everything right, reboot your phone and check your vendor and country info again by dialing *#*#2846579#*#* in the dialer.
Step 5: Now you should be able to flash any firmware from the region you now have. In case you’re seeing “balong” in Settings > Update as your version number it means that you now won’t be able to receive any online updates. You don’t really need to worry about it. Simply download the firmware and flash it through the forced SD upgrade method (you know the one – Vol up + Vol down + Power).
______________________________________________________________________
Change location on your device to unicomelectric/cn
a) Copy file oeminfo to internal memory or SD Card
b) Replace oeminfo on path /dev/block/platform/hi_mci.0/by-name with downloaded one. Reboot
Instalation procedure
a) Downgrade to B052(fastboot) make wipe!
b) Install B230(fastboot) Make two wipe!!!
c) Install B535 as local update(put the update.zip on dload folder in internal memory) make wipe!
DONE!
PS: sokkoban was the autor (look at his label):
h t t p : / / huaweip8lite.blogspot . ro

I managed to find the thread, it's a bit messy because the Opening Post is deleted and i had to find all the filse cluttered over the thread.
Installation went quite smooth, but i'm a little bit worried because Model Number says hi6210sft, but that's something i can probably fix inside the build.prop.
so thanks tamaskurti for the info.

You guys think the best firmware is the chineese one ? I have all the files downloaded on my laptop but I doubt in installing it

look at:
h t t p : / / forum.xda-developers.com / p8lite / general / ale-ul00-t3339897

Honestly, i am disappointed with b550 official europe build.
I was on chinese b535 build, witch its beta, howewer, it has lot more functions than the europe builds. I wait for the final marshmallow build from chinese market, because, their rom is more ellaborated than the others. Sorry, huawei europe, but in comparison with chinese market, the final build seems for me that an early beta or alpha build.

Is there a way to get the Chinese version camera app to our phones (meaning official MM update)?

Obs: This is for CHINESE firmware only.
About installation: its flasheable zip file. This mean you can flash via TWRP. I assume you must be on unicomelectric/cn (vendor/market). I personaley followed this method: install B230, then update to B240, then update to B556. After that i flashed custom recovery from whitch i flashed this zip file.
1. Its plain with chinese apps, which probably are very usefull, but i cannot speak chinese, so there are the option to uninstall those apps.
2. Always you can install Huawei App HiApp from where can install google play store for example. But its very usefull for update huawei preinstalled system apps too, for whitch on play store arent any updates.
3. Huawei App Store (for official huawei apps): Huawei App Store
Point 16 Are the System Patches part of the let's call it 'mod' or of EMUI?

now i find, that the screen gesture settings are missing: double-tap wake-up, letter painting shortcuts, rotate the phone for mute alarm or calls. I wonder if these settings can be enabled or not via editing build.prop (or maybe local.prop)?
- Huawei-Swype its missing too, but we can install it: Huawei-Swype

I can't enable or activate Hisuite after upgrading to v551 and v558 for restore data. Anybody with this problem? How to resolve?
this build quality is worse than 551. Very unstable bluetooth connection, lack of some good apps (swype, etc). So after two days back to 551.
b551 is the best version, specially for battery life , i had 6h30 screen on time and still have 11%

Yes.
For this situation are used, existing files from the original Chinese version KangVip for H60-L02/12.
good job
Hi,
thanks for your work.
One question, will /data be overwriten when restoring this rom as backup?
Or would it be possible to have a flashable zip file?
TWRP restore this backup, restart your phone. Will be updated. Your data will remain without wiping . The result is the same as for installing Update.zip.
Thank you very much.
Good job, and this is an good news for this model...

One thing i've noticed. National roaming aint working. Im using o2 and its migrated with eplus via national roaming. On B820 it was working without any extra apps (like roaming control).
New: Flashable zip file for TWRP .
In TWRP recovery hit the "install" and select the file UPDATE_L04_6.5.16_KVIP_ji5ji.zip from SDcard.

I guess it might be related to radio/modem/baseband.
Can you please check baseband of your rom? Im pretty new to this device and i dont know how to flash a modem (which files exactly) yet.

This ROM is only the system, cust and boot partitions (block). Baseband my ROM is the same. These things are changing in the files "local.prop" or "build.prop". I tried to enter the "ro.config.RoamingNetwork = true" to everyone. All without results. Probably it is necessary to set up somewhere else.

I do not understand.
Emui 4.0 has so far only TWRP recovery. CWM is only emui 3.0 or 3.1 You must first install the official Android 6. Then you can install my Flashable zip file.
Otherwise, of course, it would function in CWM recovery.

Oh ok, thanks for this info.
I remember some edited their props to gain national roaming. But i guess it depends on device and carrier. Do you need any files from stock b820 to check?
Just read for sony for example they added:
ro.roaming.extended=true
ro.roaming.extended_rule=1
to build.prop, but i dont see this in my build.prop

I searched in the "prop" files B820. EDIT:/*** \
What did you have in mind. Roaming+? Or what is sreenshots? What is on the screenshots, is available.
Theres no option. The phone 'allows' national roaming itself.
There are two carriers in my country which migrate there network to one. Like t mobile & vodafone getting one network.
It will be hard for you to test because i dont know if there is the same situation in your country. With roaming control
https://www.androidpit.de/app/com.insadco.roamingcontrol it works if you have data roaming enabled in mobile settings. But on stock this is not needed because 'they' enabled it software side.
So in the end i (and maybe others) can get rid of this by using apps (roaming control) or xposed modules. I just wanted to report that its working without, on stock. [emoji4]
I already understand... Unfortunately, in my country, I can not test it. I made some changes. It's not this? I'm not sure whether this was before the changes.

-The Roms that I do come with the basics to work, one or another complement that I consider necessary throughout Rom, Optimization through Build.prop, Boot.img, among other things for the correct and optimal operation of the system.
- I do not usually touch the appearance of each app of the system since for that there are issues of Huawei included in the Rom, neither Xposed, nor rare functions, the Roms that I do come free of garbage, so everyone knows how to customize their equipment.
- The V1 is deodexed for more support, you get more space in root, but slightly notice a slight delay in the transition of windows and apps, that does not mean that the Rom is not fluid.
-The V2 is not deodexada is practically to have the stock but optimized, but it shows enough fluidity, almost to the touch they respond the functions.

-If you are not sure to do this tutorial better do not do it, there is no hurry so quiet.
-Because I put odd names to the Roms? Well they are names that I see around there or maybe I'm crazy haha I do not know the truth, the name I suppose does not matter.
-If you do not like Rom, then I do not even ask for life, I just share the things I do for my cel because maybe someone can serve you and for the sake of doing Roms, I've never considered myself Developer, I'm just a human who knows some things based on inquiring about Google, Youtube, Htc mania and XDA. I do not compete against anyone, I think that's the least of it. Amen.

It wont pass safety net. He used SuperSU and not magisk to root
but you can unroot it using his guide and then flash magisk, not a big deal
Hey man........My phone just got waayyyyyy slow....Any ideas..Just after 2 hours of install and use
I am using it with magisk root instead of supersu and it's all fine, working nice and smooth.
You should check your installed apps, and also make sure you are not running so many apps in the backgroud, maybe some apps are making your phone slow while running in the background. I did not notice any lags so far,it's working as it should.
Can i change the language in music app ? If yes, how ?
Because i dont know this language !

[How to Root] [TWRP] Huawei P smart - FIG-LX1

[How To Root] Huawei P smart - Android 8 - EMUI 8.0.0
The Rooting was tested by me on this device:
Model: FIG-LX1
Board: FIG-L31
Build No.: 8.0.0.128(C432)
EMUI 8 - Android 8
"free device"
Whether the following instructions are based on provider-branding is applicable, I could not test
and therefore advise against it.
Warning: Rooting will void the device warranty. Be careful with the newly acquired root rights.
I recommend this only to users who are fit in handling a custom recovery.
This TWRP is not yet perfect and should be used with caution.
Make sure to backup all data on the SD card. (PC, stick, or HD)
Create a backup with the Huawei Backup App.
Make sure the bootloader is open.
OEM and FRP unlocked,
in the device settings, OEM unlock and USB debugging enabled.
The stock kernel is mandatory.
This is flashed in fast boot mode/ bootloader:
If the device is unroot, it does not need to be done.
fastboot flash kernel kernel.img
(KERNEL.img.header must also be in the adb folder.)
This steps must be followed exactly:
Factoryreset in recovery.
Flashing TWRP in the bootloader: fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk FIGO.img
Boot to TWRP and change the file system of the external SD card:
Wipe> Advanced Wipe> Micro SD card> Repair or Change File System> Change File System> FAT:
Execute with "Swipe to Change".
This change deletes all data on the SD card.
Switch to the Mount menu and unmount all partitions. (remove all hooks)
On the internal and external memory.
Then create a backup:
Backup> Select Storage> Micro SD card> select all partitions,
except cache. Then reboot the device into the system and copy the Magisk Zip to the SD card.
Then install in TWRP: Install> Select Storage> Micro SD card> Magisk-v16(1600).zip> Swipe to confirm Flash.
Is there an error message, installing this Zip via MagiskManager App.
Reboot and if not available, install the MagiskManager App and check the root.
The routing is now complete.
Install Magisk modules only with the app; never with TWRP.
Important:
Never wipe the cache or perform a factoryreset.
[*]Please do not experiment with Xposed. This leads to the bootloop and the Firmware must be completely reinstalled.
[*]Please with each backup, make sure to unmount all partitions again. (internal and external)
Update via Firmwarefinder:
Start Firmwarefinder App and select the appropriate update.
Then on GET AN UPDATE THROUGH DNA.
Then on WITHOUT IMEI.
Availability is displayed.
Now click on REGISTER UPDATE and the registration is displayed.
Then click IN-APP PROXY.
Now activate DNS in the router, enter 81.177.139.39 as addresses and save.
Now go to the WLAN settings on the phone, touch and hold the active connection.
Then change to Network in the menu.
Under Proxy-manual, enter localhost and port 8080 as host names for extended options.
Now only set the IP setting to DHCP. Now start the eRecovery.
Vol.+ and Power with PC connection
There on "Download latest version and recovery".
Then click on "Download and recovery" and register there under Select WIFI.
Now the update is displayed and can be started.
When rebooting, the device lands in the bootloop,
execute a factoryreset in the recovery.
After the update reboot and all changed WLAN settings, also in the router
and reboot it again. If you don't, it'll be over by the time
next OTA update is displayed again and again, since the authorization remains in memory.

Attention: Changing the oem.info can
cause the phone to lock. OEM/FRP=LOCK
Thread Update 2017-03-28:
A new TWRP is now available. It is version 3.2.1-0.
Original Chinese developer version.
Instructions:
First perform the Huawei data backup.
Flash TWRP per Adb as usual.
Then switch from Chinese to English.
Then assign write and read rights by removing the hook in wipe menu.
Now for security, create a backup without data.
Then Format Data.
Create a new full backup including data. This is possible now that the
formatting is the size of Data = 0.
Now reboot the device and set it up completely new.
Now there is a new and configured data partition.
Then turn OEM and USB back on and boot to TWRP.
Then create a new full backup.
TWRP is now fully functional. Only the MTP mode does not work.

The thing, I didn't think about, is, I don't know how to repack the image.gz after compiling to flashable boot.img as I don't have a existing boot.img.
Maybe you can advice me.
Can you upload oeminfo file for FIG-LX1 8.0.0.122 (C432) please?
I would like to rebrand my Chinese version (FIG-AL10).

There is no boot. img in the 121 firmware anymore. Only the kernel. img. I flashed that. So I have the bootloop and need the img from 122, so I thought you might be able to extract it from your device.

Guide to succesfully downgrade from 9.1 to 8.0.0.386 (C432 = European Phone)

Hello everyone,
This is the procedure that I followed to rollback my EUROPEAN P10 plus from Emui 9.1 to 8.
Phone was Unrooted + Locked bootloader on 9.1
As this implies downloading territory specific firmwares, I can only provide information on where I found specific ones. Unfortunately, I have no Idea where to find 9.0.* firmwares for other geographical locations.
1. go to https://androidhost.ru/29XI and download the 9.0.* firmware hosted there. There might be a bit to fiddle if you have adblockers on.
2. At the end of the download, there should be a file named: Huawei P10 Plus VKY-L09 hw eu HLRCF Vicky-L09B 9.0.1.163(C432E4R1P9T8) Firmware 9.0.0 r3 EMUI9.0.1 05014KJP [androidhost.ru].zip
3. The zip archive should be around 4.6 GB in size
4. Decompress it with your favorite utility (7z, Winrar, etc.)
5. Now there should be 2 folders: "ReleaseDoc" and "Software"
6. Inside "Software" there is the "dload" folder.
7. Inside "dload" you will find 2 folders and one file (see screenshot)
8. Delete the folder "VKY-L29_hw_eu"
9. Copy the dload folder in the root of your SD card
10. As a matter of precaution do a factory reset followed by switching the phone completely off
11. Press Vol-up + Vol-down + Power button and keep them pressed
12. The automatic update from SD card should start. Let it complete
13. Once completed, you will have to go through the initial phone setup
14. Once Phone setup is complete plug the phone to the computer, select USB to transmit data and launch HiSuite
15. I used HiSuite version 9.0.2.301
16. Give again all of the authorisations for HDB and wait for the connection with the phone to establish.
17. Start the update procedure, but when prompted select to use the other option.
18. The rollback description will display. Launch it and keep the phone connected. It will take a while.
19. The phone will automatically restart and install Oreo.
20. You are done
Thanks to Alexxx1 and Faulk08 for giving me the idea from this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/p10-plus/how-to/vky-l09-l29-c432-service-rom-b369-dload-t3804952/page5#post80678901

However, in this case at point 9 of the procedure I described, the folder "VKY-L29_hw_eu" should be kept and instead the folder "VKY-L09_hw_eu" should be deleted.
Thanks it works, latest version hisuite its not necessary the version you said, the latest works fine to downgrade(tested by me).
Thanks million, It Worked 1st time on my VKY L29
I did follow the OP and use HiSuite version 9.0.2.301
Hello. Do you have some links po P10 dual sim? I want to bo gack go 8
What are the main reasons to go back to Oreo? I just got a Huawei P10 Plus, love the exterior design of this phone, it has android 9 installed, wish it had a dark theme and smaller fonts
Man you are the best!!! Thank you very much. I follow the steps and now i can go back to older version. Thank you again.
If you know how to rollback to android 7 plz post it.
Thank YOU!!!!
So I've been struggling for months now and was seriously considering not liking Huawei anymore & trashing it. But then this gem of a post came along. Worked perfectly first time:good:. I have a rebranded VKY-L29 that was using EU software and had 9.1 on.
Will this unlock mt VKY-L09 running 9.1.0.252 I just want all the Hauwei crap off and a stripped ROM. It's a great phone but slowly being ruined
Can anyone share the file ? It's saying 7 days to download

It might, but I am not 100% sure. What I would do is change step #8 and delete the folder VKY-L09_hw_eu and leave the VKY-L29 instead
