Where to buy the Mi5 to europe/norway? wait for international version/rom? - Xiaomi Mi 5 Questions & Answers

Hi, I really want this phone. but have been waiting a little bit to see if there will be an Mi5 with international rom released.
where dif you guys buy your Mi5? All i seem to find are out of stock. want the black one..

even in china i only found white 32/64 version no other colors and no 128 version so i ended up buying 64 version white. Maybe you should wait more to get the 128 version or other colors .
in miui forum someone said that there is no international release for mi5, but there is international rom they released it then they pulled it because of bugs so it will return after they fix it

You have to by through re sellers. I bought mine at Flosmall. Shipped to Norway without any custom duty. Kimovil.com will give you the best price.

There is almost $100 difference in price between white and black. Why?

I ended up getting mine at gizchina. The price @honorbuy was the same.
Buy have a stock in the EU & you don't end up paying too much tax in the shipping (got mine @ $35 tax+shipping).
That is, ~$485 all inclusive.

Are there any restrictions regarding no international rom yet?

Hi Killbox. I am also thinking about buying a Xiaomi Mi5. Do you recommend it? I live in Norway too. How did you manage to avoid the customs fee/tax? Thanks for your help

I'm in the UK and ordered it from Gizchina. It shipped the next day from Italy, so if you're in the EU, no customs charge. Norway, not so sure about.

Thanks for your reply but Norway is not part of EU just partly like Switzerland therefore there are other rules for the import unfortunately. That is why I asked killbox about it because he also lives in Norway.

This phone is not worth enough. Remember there are always a good reason to be cheap. Xiaomi selling MI5 with SD820 processor with the almost half price of Samsung or HTC or else. But I think MI5 is still not worth enough. This is what I learnt in my last one month uses. Mi5 also don't have B20 LTE connectivity. So in EU it will suck definitely. Better buy an another cheap phone than MI5 and trust me it will make you more happier!

I am using MI5 for a month and getting terrible battery performance. For example overnight battery consumption is 10% where phone is absolutely idol, mobile data off, wifi off, sync off. My overnight is 5 hours BTW. Another terrible issue is network drop randomly in the either SIM slots. These are issues are very much confusing. If issue with only the global ROM then China ROM should work fine. But I am getting exactly same problems in the both china stable and dev ROM. I expressed the same thing in the miui forum and lots of users agreed with me. However it's up to you whether you for it or not and these are absolutely my personal opinion from my experience.

The MIUI standard ROM is good enough, after using a nightmare ROM like ASUS the one on the Mi5 is not bad
Anyway, I need to buy this phone in Germany, any advice?
What would be a fair price from a warehouse in the EU?

I'd have to agree. Unless it's a 64GB with all original accessories and a few extras like cases and wireless chargers I'd say it's a bit much too.
At this point I would just save a little extra money and wait for a good 6P discount. I bought a brand new nexus 6 in december at 250 so I can't recommend you to buy an used one for more than that.
You can buy a 5X for 199 when you sign up for Fi.
Personally I agree that the original Nexus 6 is a good buy. I have it, and I still feel that it is the best phone I have owned.
That being said, I also agree that the price you have been quoted for the Used Nexus 6, does seem a bit high. Personally I would negotiate a slightly lower price if possible.
I bought a brand new phone for $250 from Amazon..

That's great for people who Fi works in their area I have 0 sprint coverage and about 10% coverage of Tmo in my area. Att is OK but Verizon is dominant with coverage about 95% of the rural area I live in....
Nexus 6 is still a great phone! I won't be giving it up anytime soon!
I got one late Feb and it is a great device. Got one from AWD - 32Gb at $215. I was opting for moto x pure but it was a bit expensive at that time. Anywho, its a great buy, i have no regrets.

I don't think they will sell it at that price anytime soon but keep on the lookout. Even AWD where I got mine sells it at around $300 in very good condition. Mine was from AWD as well and tagged used- in very good condition but it came like bnew.
Surely there must be forwarders in your country where you can ship it to a US address and they ship it to you for a price. That is what I usually do since I live in the PH.
I picked up a refurb from groupon for $250 a few weeks ago, I enjoy it personally.

What does 9/10 mean? Weak point of N6 is the battery
The updates are monthly now and Google never added new things, I would not be disappointed when the monthly updates stop.
In any case there will be Android N for the N6.
The point to worry about is the battery life and the amoled display. The dev's at Google forces us to use a white background. There is no option yet to switch to a dark theme without root access.
A child knows that a white interface on amoled displays causes battery drain. But Google ignores that.
Prepare for rooting and use layers and alternatives for Gapps like Aquamail that have the option to switch to a dark theme.

9/10 is a rating, ergo 9 out of 10. He's saying the device is nearly perfect.
I got mine for $180. Had an LG G3 before this phone. I just wanted a giant screen that is a great performer. I got more than I expected with this phone. I love it. There may be better devices on the market, but this is a great phone for the price!
I've just upgraded from my be loved nexus 5 and love it. Upgraded for the storage

If we're talking about the Zenphone 5Z, they haven't announced pricing yet for the US but in every other market it's cheaper than the OnePlus.
The Zenfone 5Z is still considered a mid range device, no way they're going over $700 for a device without water/dust proofing, no wireless charging, and no big name recognition here.
For the record, the 8GB/256GB model costs about $540 when converted to US currency from most of the countries its been released in so far.

For me Asus Zenfone 5Z has two more advantages, call me an old school guy, but flat screen gives me an advantage of putting on tempered glass without any halo and another, for me good LCD means light coloured themes work without harming the battery. I am pretty comfortable with both.

Note 9 N9600 or N960FD etc for UK use

Hi everyone,
I'm due to upgrade my phone and really keen on the note 9 but to buy in the UK it is costly. I'm looking at buying from the EU but there's a variety of model types with subtle differences in bands.
Please would someone be able to advise me whether for example N9600 or N960FD would be fully compatible with the UK networks?
The N9600 appears to be fully compatible with UK bands but I'm new to buying non UK phones.
Plus if they're both compatible, would one be better than the other?
Thanks in advance

Hey, I got the N960F/DS off Ebay for £719, think it is even cheaper now, got it from Switzerland, ordered last Wednesday night about 22:00 and it arrived Monday morning. I will get the link for you now

Hey mate, sorry I think I must have chucked the voucher away with the delivery box and other junk
Have a look on www1.techinthebasket.com - I picked up my previous Note 8 SM-N950F/DS for £633 back in October last year. It was a Taiwan model (BRI) but picked up XEU / BTU CSC when I put my O2 SIM in it and it worked flawlessly. They have Note 9's in now for good prices as well. They only accept PayPal so you're covered. I also picked up a Surface Pro 4 from them a couple of years ago and saved over £200. Well worth a try.

Ah, looks like they've only got the Snapdragon version in at the moment - £880 for the SD 512GB/8GB and £629 to £679 dependant on colour for the SD 128GB/6GB is still pretty damn good. Keep checking though, they did have the Exynos versions in for around the same price a few days ago...
Really good prices.
The only thing that's holding me back is to wait for the pixel 3xl. If some of the rumours are true about the Iarge screen, then I might go pixel, but other say it's only 6.1" and has a notch which renders it even smaller when watching film properly.
Thanks for the input so far. Note 9 is in number one spot, just need to compare to the pixel to firm up the choice
The N9600 probably won't work with some UK Cell Providers. You are better off getting the N960FD as that is a GSM device.

Nice find!
After reading the listing it doesn’t state anything about It having a year warranty with them instead they’ll only replace if the device is faulty within the first 30 days.... risky?!! ? .... Just checked again it doesn’t come with any warranty.... ?
Plus if you use the CODE: PERKS on eBay you get a further £50 off... Very tempting stuff
If the pixel 3xl is a bit underwhelming, I'd rather buy a note 9 with a warranty even if it costs more. Having had LG phone issues, I don't want the risk

Oh well haha, has anyone in the world ever actually needed a warranty? I certainly haven't ? It's like insurance, even if you try to claim on it, the odds of them paying out to you are so slim it's hardly worth bothering. It's also another price you pay for getting something significantly cheaper than in your own country, right now they're selling that phone over £200 cheaper than anywhere in this country, if you're so worried, take that 200 and buy insurance, or open a premium bank account for like £11 a month that offers you full mobile phone insurance like my girlfriend has, she can essentially just launch her phone at the wall and they'll pay out for a replacement ?

Believe it or not i had an issue with my S8 plus (Snapdragon 835 variant) a year ago (screen issue) used it for about 8 months, it took about a month to resolve but ended up getting a refund instead lol
I know what your saying, looks like I'll just go with WondaMobile instead of eBay, that way my mind will be at ease
Btw hows your battery life on your model? I'm still undecided whether to go with the SD 845 or Exynos 9810.. I had the S9 plus with the 9810 and the battery life wasn't great (3.5hr SOT) with 15-16hrs usage consistently, ended up selling it to my bro ?

Do we have any info about release original 8/128 global edition?

As the title says, any info? About two+ weeks looking every single day on UK Asus, wanna buy this phone so much, but i am not interested to spend so much money for 12/512 version when i know i won't need that capacity anyway.
Everything I've read from Asus and other places say there is no official 8/128 global version.
And with no SD card slot, I wouldn't even consider that restrictive amount of storage.

Nah,, 128 is ok, I've got about 50GB of music (which is an OK smattering) plus apps, leaving about 40-50GB for photos etc. Enough for me anyway! I bit the bullet and bought the Tencent version and just changed to WW. Updated, kept root, no issues. Hi Giztop offer 1 year warranty for those that don't wanna root too
Oh, and I emailed them the order number asking them to price it down for customs.. They put value as 220 and I didn't have to pay any customs

I had 96GB combined, and using most of that already. I know will only go up over time.
As for the original question, it was asking about an official ("original") global version, which does not exist. I know the Tencent version can be converted, but that isn't suitable for everyone.
So basicaly we even don't know if there will be someday released global edition 8/128?

I've yet to see Asus even hint at such a possibility. At the UK announcement event, they mentioned the Elite (512/12 version), and the Ultimate (1TB/12 GB version) was coming later this year. If a 128/8 version was possible, I would've expected that announced as well and likely released the same time as the Elite version.
The original global 128 gb version is the one being sold on India. Same specs that the Tencent Version has, but no metal part on the back and global firmware installed.

I dont know about Giztop but I ordered from Tradingshenzen this Mi 11 Ultra and last year K30 Pro Zoom and everything was perfect, shipping was faster than Aliexpress and they test the phone before they ship it, also you get a discount code for next buys. 10/10 for me.

Chinese but I always unlock my phone, waiting 7 days, and I install Xiaomi.eu ROM
I just received my phone from Giztop, 256GB Ceramic Black China ROM. I selected express shipping and got it in around 7 days. It came via DHL from HK shipped to my house in US. I selected the 67W charger which came in the box as well. I had no issues and can recommend them.

Thanks!
Ordered from tradingshenzen. Took few days to get it delivered from China to Switzerland. Customs was included. Can't complain at all.
Where to buy the Mi 11 Ultra?
Currently, there's no official way to get the Mi 11 Ultra. As soon as credible stores have the phone, I will list it here.
