Messed up camera - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So my friend has a tmobile note 4 and not to long ago the rear camera on it just started going blurry. It isn't rooted and he'd prefer it to stay that way. We have tried cleaning the lens and everything but yet it still turns out blurry. He said his last option would be to factory reset it. If possible any help would be welcome. Sorry for my bad English I'm ESL.

This is most likely a defective camera. I bought a refurbished Note 4 from Tmobile a few days ago and it had the same issue out of the box. I was that if i shook the phone vigorously, it would eventually focus, but after closing the camera and reopening, the same problem persisted. If your friend still has warranty, have them process a warranty claim, if not, tell them to go to a repair shop and ask them to replace the camera.

Replacement HD7 camera

Hey, guys sorry for my English first.
I have a problem with the camera device and I see her a lot of people also, I sent for repair and came back, worked, after a week \ month again with the same problem stopped working.
I thought I might try to order from EBAY new camera and go to shop them to put it, what say?
Thank you.
Someone? Help
Ive not opened up a htc hd7 yet but usually the physical camera circuits are hardwired to the main phones board so swapping it out isn't an option. replacing the buttons or even the lens might be possible.
this place has an picture of a part they claim is the camera module for an hd7
I'm assuming the phone wont take any photos or initialize the camera from neither the hardware buttons or from any software app on your handset.
and also HTC will give warranty repair for 1 year from the Manufactured date or point of purchase you do not need to necessarily be the original owner. Id give them a call and confirm that it isnt covered before going the open it myself route.
Thanks for your response, about responsibility, I can say he fought with this device and responsibility for six months, just send it for repair, return, working a month, sometimes less, and destroyed again.
Dee gave up messing with it, that's why I ask.
By the way his responsibility was over.

[Q] HTC ONE lost camera focus

Hi!
I am using HTC ONE about 10 days. No drops, no hits against walls or anything. 5 minutes ago wanted to take a picture and suddenly focus went "offline"
Camera makes that noise when you are focusing, but nothing happens. I rebooted phone, but nothing changed.
Am I the first one with this problem?
Solutions?
Thanks!
edit: factory reset did not help
I think the problem is optical image stabilization which is/are jammed. I don't hear that "click" sound when starting camera app. That click sound means that IS started to work.
sorry for my bad grammar. Not my native language.

Hi Please see my post here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2288668&page=3
same problem...This might be big issue
I think my problem is different. After night I realized that if I don't use ONE for several hours than focus works for ~5 sec. I start Camera app and can focus one time. When camera focus then image stays sharp for like 5 sec and then goes all blur. And after that focus is not working and I'm back to where I started. So everythink works for like 5 sec and then all goes wrong. After some hours I can focus one more time and again - all stops after some seconds. First time I see something like that.
I've got the same problem. I honestly think the only solution is to exchange for a new phone.
try change iso manually

I had the same problem and tried to play with the Iso settings, and i change it manually on 200,and it worked for me,now it focuses on a landscape photo just well.in the indoors,i let iso automatic and it focuses fine,i guess is a software issue, and they'll solved it with the next update
throw the phone very hard onto your bed. that should unjam the sensor
Got the same problem. Got worse over time. Now it won't focus at all.
There's no other way than send it to repair. Hope I don't get problems with the unlocked bootloader...

Your name seems german. My One with unlocked bootloader didn't get repaired + I had to pay 30€ for sending a bootloader-opened phone.. be careful.

Yes, the phone is gonna go to htc Germany Hope they fix it. As long as there is no S-off, I have no other chance than hope.
I already have been anxiously following the S-off announcement ("very soon "). But time goes by and there is no s-off yet
Well, let's keep fingers crossed.

Well I sent it too from germany (o2), repairing company is Arvato. Arvato declines repairing when bootloader is open...
Well, I had long discussions with HTC because here in Switzerland HTC only offers three days of DOA, while Samsung, Apple, Nokia and other all have 14 days.
I noticed the camera problem (which got worse over time) on the 5th day, so out of DOA. I finally got them to accept to exchange the phone on DOA terms. So, the phone probably goes to HTC directly, hopefully not to some repair company.
But considering your case: Germany has much more consumer friendly laws than Switzerland. I am pretty sure, the seller needs to prove (!) that you are responsible for the defect within the first 6 months. Otherwise be must repair the phone. I think an unlocked bootloader is no proof that you have damaged the camera. I would talk with them and tell them that they must abide to the law. It should be must easier than here in Switzerland.

people scoff at this, but when my focus gets jammed I give it a sharp whack on the back and then it focuses again. Doesn't work every time but there is nothing else to do.

I can confirm this still happens some times above 90% battery, I think this is unrelated
hello i have the same problem
after i dropped my phone camera cannot focus on far objects then 15cm.
object further then 15 cm are blurry.
factory reset didnt help.
Same issue! I've posted a bit about it in Page 10 of this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45010584
Does anyone with a Google Play Edition ROM have this issue? A user of XDA suggested that it is possibly only affecting AOSP ROM users.
I spoke to someone at HTC here in the UK and he basically said that they have NO grounds to refuse to repair it under warranty if the fault you return it for is not caused by something you have done, either damage or by unlocking and flashing. I think they are out of order to charge you to repair a phone that is faulty when you unlocking the bootloader has nothing to do with the fault.
I just sent mine back because the shots were all blurred unless doing macros. I had the same issue as a previous poster aswell, the click when you open the camera only happened about once every dozen or so times I opened it, even then the shots were still blurred. I sent it back with a relocked bootloader, stock ROM and tampered flag still present and they have repaired mine and I'm awaiting its return from UPS.

When you find out what was fixed can you let us know? And if it actually fixed the issue?
Just been reading this as I have the same problem. No close focus for me, but far focus was ok-ish. Gave it a few slaps on my thigh and it seems to be more or less ok again for normal focus conditions, although anything under 30cm distance isn't going to focus at all. It's been driving me mad for weeks now.

Hi! Am living in Germany as well. Could you get any answer from HTC service?

Rear camera replacement with s6 sensor

Hi guys, so I somehow shattered the lens on the back of my phone and ordered a replacement online. However, I thought about just replacing the camera sensor as well because it has the focus issue where I have to masterbate my phone by shaking it before every picture. I would love to just replace the lens and send it in to samsung for repair since I'm still under the 1 year warranty, however, I'm not sure if they'd check my knox counter, which will show the phone has been adulterated.
I can't seem to find Samsung parts online for the note 4, I don't want some generic camera sensor. However, the GS6 uses the same imx240 sensor and original parts can be found online.
Do you think there will be an issue with the gs6 sensor in my note 4? Replacing parts on electronics isn't an issue for me, I am just more interested in compatibility.
Thanks for your time and any assistance!
As far was warrant hours,I have a galaxy tab s that was under warranty. I rooted it, but was completely stock. The thing just turned off one day. They replaced the motherboard and said the charging port was bad and replaced it as well. Then they said I had rooted it, do they wouldn't cover it. Even though it was hardware failure, they denied it because of root. I spoke with everyone I could at Samsung, but to no avail. And yes I was beyond nice to them. If it was a software issue, I would have paid the stupid fine and moved on. But a hardware failure in the first 6 months they should cover. So just a heads up on trying for a warranty if you've rooted it.

Search the note 4 forum. I'm sure someone tried this already and it didn't work.

How to get phone replaced ASAP? (in US)

Hi guys, sorry if this is the wrong place to ask about this but I got my pre-ordered 5G 10 days ago and besides the battery not as big as advertised, the phone is great.
I was out this afternoon testing camera and GCam and weird problem came up. There is mosture covering all 3 camera lenses only if I use the camera. You read that right. The glass covering all 3 lenses on the back turn foggy the longer I left the camera on and the fog disappear completely about 10 after I turn off camera.
I am leaving the country next Sunday and want to get this resolved ASAP so wondering if I can head to a Samsung Experience store to get it swapped.
UbreakIfix handles on site warranty repairs in the US. I'd see if one is near you.

Hey idk where you're at on this but at the Verizon shop where I got my S10 they've got a vacuum machine that's supposed to be able to remove ~all~moisture from inside your phone. Takes a few hours but it's $29. Might be worth a shot
The phone is new so Samsung ask me to return it and they will apply the same promo to the next S10 I order

S20+ can't use replacement camera as it needs to be pre-programmed?

Sent my phone to get its rear camera replacement, reputable company.
However, it's been over 2 weeks now. They've said that they need to take a camera from an existing phone to replace it. Because an OEM or replacement camera won't work as it needs to be pre-programmed.
I've never heard of this, and there are plenty of videos of S20's cameras being replaced with no mention of programming.
It just seems weird if they're lying or have made a mistake. Tempted to get my phone back and do the repair myself, but then if it actually does need programmed I'd be screwed.
