[ROM] [5.1.1] Dr.Ketan ROM L16 N5 port [N910VVRU2BPA1] [5/1/16] - Verizon Galaxy Note 4 Android Development

Read this whole OP before doing anything! Especially the bugs list !!!
** I am excited to announce that @dr.ketan 's Note 5 Port (INTERNATIONAL NOTE 4 BASED ROM)works for the Verizon Note 4 ! I am not a developer and do not take credit for this ROM. I only assisted in getting it to work for our phone. Enjoy!!
Give @dr.ketan many thanks and donate to him for developing his Note 5 Port!!: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/snapdragon-dev/n910g-dr-ketan-custom-rom-t2928568
Give @Battlehero a thanks and donate to him for his time and effort for creating the data fix for our Verizon Note 4 http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/snapdragon-dev/rom-kyubi-rom-note-5-t3220106
Give @hsbadr a big thanks and donate to him for making this possible with his 5.1.1 Jasmine ROM and multi-system kernel!! http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-verizon/development/rom-jasminerom-v1-0-t3113771
Without them, this would not have been possible!
Remember that.
DISCLAIMER: Your warranty is now void. Please be careful make a full TWRP backup of your current Verizon ROM. I am not responsible if you break your phone or lose data on your device!
*A clean flash is a must if you are coming from another ROM or you will run into problems.* Do not post issues if you dirty flashed.
**Note only Dr. Ketan's L16F Note 5 port works for our phone. He has a Marshmallow version out also, so be sure to only download the L16F version.**
Big NOTE: (Puns intended) There are OG Developer's Editions and Converted Retail Editions. OG's, including me, have an aged KitKat 4.4.4 unlocked bootloader and we need to use multi-system kernel that @hsbadr patched to fix the brightness issue that was present during the Lollipop upgrade. We are forever in his debt. Converted Retail Editions have a newer Lollipop 5.1.1 unlocked bootloader meaning they can try other Verizon specific kernels without the brightness issue (You might come across other issues trying other kernels so please state what kernel you're using if you experience an issue). I'm also believing that it is possible that converts can experience issues that OG's don't experience due to the difference in bootloaders, and vice versa. It would be nice to know your build if you experience an issue. Thanks!
Instructions:
1.) Make sure you are on a 5.1.1 modem.
(N910VVRU2BOK3) or (N910VVRU2BPA1)
2.) Download the ROM to your SD
3.) Download the DataFix to your SD
4.) Wipe /system /data /cache /dalvik-cache (/InternalStorage Optional, you will lose your files on the device)*
5.) Flash the ROM.
6.) Flash the DataFix.
7.) Wipe Dalvik and Cache
8.) Reboot. (Will take about 10-15 mins to boot)
9a.) Wait until there is a prompt to install necessary patches and allow root access
9b.) Chose your battery and clock settings then reboot
10.) Go through the setup but do not log into the Samsung account or Google account during initial setup
11.) After the setup log into your google account
12.)Initially there is no calling audio and no My Verizon application support.
To fix this download root browser and navigate to the system folder and edit the build.prop by clicking on the build.prop file > use rb text editor > change these values to:
ro.product.model=SM-N920V
ro.product.name=trltevzw
*Note it is case sensitive*
Then click save
Then using root browser navigate to the system/privapp folder and delete the VzwSilentSSOEngine folder
Then reboot
**Note: On My Verizon you will need to log into your account using your user name and not your number**
13.) Enjoy!!
Once you are at your home screen make sure you are logged into your Google account before accessing Dr. Ketan Tweaks app because there is a dependency app that is required to be installed from the Play Store when you launch Dr. Ketan tweaks app.
To disable infinite scroll on TW launcher go to Dr. Ketan tweaks and long press launcher home scroll then back out and test.
I tested most tweaks and they work as they should. Please post any issues on this thread.
(Please do not try any of the network based features in Ketan's tweaks as they are meant for the international Note 4)
Please read the readme before using the debloater tool to get an idea of what it removes
As of right now there is no xposed support. I will need the help from users to find the best way to get it installed and I will update the OP with instructions.

**READ ME**
Bugs:
- No GearVR support
- *MMS does not work correctly on the stock Messaging app (group chats come in and send as individual messages, and unable to send picture messages)
**(Workaround: Use Textra as default messaging app, MMS works like it should)**
- Unable to perform a factory reset within the settings because you will get non-stop FC's once booted up.
- If you do not wipe internal storage any old Note 2 files in you SNote data folder will kill the SNote app. So remove them from that folder and you'll be able to use SNote.
- System update in settings force closes the Settings
- Simultaneous data works at 4G speeds when talking on the phone but it shows it as a 1X connection. (Must have a 4G connection to work)
- To get My Verizon to work:
1. Navigate to /system/priv_app and delete the VzwSilentSSOEngine folder.
2. Edit the system/buid.prop file. Change the model value to SM-N920V and save.
3. Reboot.
4. You need to log into My Verizon using your user name your number will not work
Thanks @stueycaster and @rayjr13
- Verizon Visual Voicemail does not work and may never work
- Screen mirroring may not work
- If you change the model value in the build.prop to Verizon Note 4 model value (SM-N910V) it will break the theme store. Switch it back to SM-N920V to get theme store working again.
Read/search through the original OP threads for any non-Verizon specific issues first.
Credits:
Thank you so much @dr.ketan for developing your Note 5 Port !!
Thank you @Battlehero for creating a data fix for our phone !!
Thank you @hsbadr for your constant development and support for the Verizon Note 4, and of course for Jasmine ROM and multi-system kernel !!!

Check the original OPs they have their features listed but in my experience Ketan's has more mods and Kyubi is closer to stock Note 5.

Hmm that didn't happen to me but I do know that google playstore will update eventually so that might be causing problems. Also did you log in during the initial setup? I didn't not sure if it makes a difference.

Yeah you have to do that. Download root browser go to the system folder > Click on the build.prop file > use rb text editor > find those two values towards the top and change them to what is listed on step 12. It is case sensitive > then click save > then reboot calling will work
That is weird about the play store. If you don't mind try starting over and skip both the google sign in and samsung sign in

Damn ok wait till it updates itself. You'll get the Google Play Store splash screen when you launch it once it's done updating. Hopefully that fixes it. I really wonder if logging on during the setup causes that. Regardless I updated the OP to hold off on logging onto google until after initial setup to make it exactly how I had it set up.

[MOD][MDC]Disable Increasing Ringtone (modded SecPhone.apk)

Description
The Galaxy S4, like its predecessors and some other devices, has a hardcoded "increasing ring" feature where the ringtone starts out quiet and gradually gets louder, reaching full volume in about 3 or 4 seconds. Some people don't want this (like me).
There are two ways to work around this behavior. First, you can use an app, such as Disable Increasing Ring. The advantage is that you don't need root. The disadvantage is that now you have an app running 24/7, using up memory unnecessarily, albeit a very small amount. The second solution is to patch the SecPhone.apk. That's what this mod does.
Most of the credit goes to gharrington in this post whose method I used to patch SecPhone.apk.
Feel free to use in ROMs, redistribute, etc., but remember to give credit.
Instructions
As with all mods, nandroid backup in case something goes wrong. This mod is provided as-is, use at your own risk, etc.
You can install this one of two ways. The ZIP file can be installed from pretty much any recovery, such as TWRP. It will automatically clear cache/dalvik. Or you can manually copy over the APK with a root file explorer.
Note
I'm using a MDC ROM currently, so I modded the SecPhone.apk that came with MDC. I don't know if that particular apk has changed in later official ROM updates. I can easily perform this mod on newer versions if someone wants to PM me newer SecPhone.apk file in /system/app. I'll try to keep this thread up-to-date as newer updates come down the pipe for as long as I have this device.
Download
Update zip: SecPhone.zip - 9.11 MB
APK file: SecPhone.apk - 10.51 MB

It appears as though you can flash the zip in recovery. The .apk is also attached, so you could move that to system/app to replace your existing secphone.apk, set permissions and reboot. Or you could adb push the .apk to the system/app directory and adb reboot. I'm pretty sure any of those methods will work.
Any chance of getting call record enable in your apk?

I'll look into it. The instructions on the post I linked to in the top post didn't work. I kept getting FC when I tried. I'll have to look around to see if anybody has figured that out yet for the S4. If you can find a guide, I'm happy to do the leg work.

Well I applied the necessary patches, but it didn't work. The button appears, but the button doesn't activate anything or sometimes the phone app just crashes when you press it. It just might not work with MDC as I saw others stating basically the same thing with MDC ROMs. You can try the MDN version in that post. Unfortunately, I don't know enough about what's going on behind the scenes, so I don't know how to debug this. It's too bad because call record would be really handy.
Still waiting on ForceROM to update to MDL then I can get to work on the MDL version.
Can you post the file so I can try it? Im on ForceROM running MDL...

Roms that currently can be flashed on AT&T S5

So while we wait for the 'Development' area to start filling up with new Roms, I opened this thread for people to share what they have found it currently works from other S5 Forums.
So far I have tried and work:
* Alliance Rom (From the T-mobile Forum) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2748569
* Stock International from the International Forum ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2761682)
* X-Note from the International Forum also works (after removing the Aroma stuff and editing the META-INF folder, Thanks @Skizzy034 for the hint)
* Vision-X http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2797336
* Alvin's Stock http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2791067
You have to setup the APN after installing the Roms
*** IMPORTANT***
If you lose root on when installing International ROMS, use 'towelroot v1' to root v3 seems to not work sometimes.
I posted this in the safestrap thread. It will help out for this thread also:
(Aroma Based Roms)
You can. You just have to take the stuff you want out of the optional aroma install folders and place them in the corresponding /system folders such as /system/app. Then you have to edit the stuff in the meta-inf folder or, easier, replace the meta-inf folder with one from a non-aroma based rom, then just flash as normal.

I download a stock G900F rom , cook it with ArchiKitchen with ANCE modem.bin (need to specify boot and modem block). Modify others.xml for displaying NFC icon, disable shutter sound, and enable recording. Also modify customer.xml to make AT&T's default APNs (except FOTA and security strings) so data works right after the first boot. Disable Knox with Archi and no more annoying notification.
Totally stock.
Didn't check root yet but I believe it might have gone? I did not root my rom so I suspect it might have gone?
EDIT: Check with Root Checker and the it doesn't appear to be rooted.
I've been able to flash most ROM's from the international forums, as long as they have stock kernal and I take out the Aroma stuff, only problem I've noticed on every one of them is SuperSU binary fails to update, don't know if it has something to do with safestrap or what.
We need and stock deodex rom for full theming and tweak lets see if @bri315317 will hop one the s5 att since now we have SS

It appears you need to add the AT&T APN: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2697270
See Q13 for APN settings. Good luck everyone, and let the flashing games begin. Maybe someone needs to start a thread where the rest of the ROMs can be added and modified to work with the AT&T GS5, and take out the aroma stuff.

Flash the SuperSU zip. I think it's 1.94+ or something like that. You can find it in XDA somewhere or Google it. I would link it but I'm not sure where to find it. You just flash it in recovery.

Carlos,
No chance of me buying an AT&T device. However, if you throw a base my way and someone was willing to test I would be willing to throw some Dynamic Kat love yalls way.

INFO for [Root/FlashFire] Cocktail AutoOn Mod for Galaxy S6 Edge

this is working for the Verizon Edge and just making sure all you folks saw this and and i have nothing to do with this except spreading the word.
here is the link

Cocktail AutoOn For Galaxy S6 Edge
Hey guys, just finished my latest mod -- Cocktail AutoOn! What this does is turns on the CocktailBar (the screen that is shown when you do the back and forth touch motion on the edge while the screen is off) when you receive a notification, of whatever app you select. It first shows the "Clock Feed" for a few seconds, then it moves to the Notification Feed, which will tell you about the received notification.
PLEASE READ!
---First please flash this with FlashFire, if you don't know how to do that please follow the steps here to get it set up: XDA Thread Link.
---You MUST open the app that will be installed, Cocktail AutoOn, allow Root Access, then Click the 'Click Me' button and enable the app in the screen that follows. You should also go into Settings, and enable some apps you'd like the CocktailBar to turn on for!
Willing to Test?
If your phone isn't in the supported devices list, and are willing to participate in this beta, please send me your services.jar file found in system/framework. If you aren't deodexed, please also include /system/framework/arm (AND arm64)/services.odex. You can either pull it yourself, or get it from a ROM you trust. I would prefer the latter, so I wouldn't have to deodex it myself (as long as it's a deodexed ROM)!
Updates
Code:
5/27
-Uploaded ATT And 925F/I Version(s), please test and let me know how it works!
5/26 v1.2
-Reupload (For Verizon 925V-OC3 only for now!)
5/24 - v1.1
-Release.
Features
Turns on the CocktailBar from a notification for whatever app you set!
Shows the time, initially, then automatically moves to the Notification Feed, for easy reading of the incoming notification!
Bugs
Not a bug, but this will wipe the dalvik-cache, so the following boot will be a little longer while it 'upgrades'. No data will be lost.
Make sure you have the Notification Feed enabled, which it should be by default...
Supported Devices/ROMs
925I/F - OE2/OE3 (Tested on some builds, please tell me which one you're running. Confirmed working on OE3)
925A - LATEST (OE2)? (Untested)
925V - OC3 (Confirmed working)
Downloads

It's definitely working on our phones, did you make sure to read everything on the OP? Specifically making sure the app has root access, that it's enabled in notification access (hit 'click me') and that you selected the app in my 'settings' screen?
For those using the stock messaging app, check my updated OP, I describe what you can do to get it to work. The issue is that the stock messaging app turns on the screen when it gets a notification, effectively rendering what I'm trying to do useless.
Also we have the 925V so download that one
I stand corrected, good sir. I missed the step about going into the actual app. I apologize. It's working fine.

Hey, I tried installing this and ended up in a boot loop I believe, frozen at red Verizon screen.
Can anyone advise on how to get out of this boot loop without flashing from Odin off a PC? I'm at work (I know, dumb to do this while I'm not home), and won't have a phone until tonight as a result.
Thanks.

The first boot will take a while because it wipes dalvik cache. At the time of posting this had you given it a good while like the OP mentions? since you're on Verizon, I can test directly these packages, so the only reason it wouldn't work is if the wrong build version was flashed, such as OE2 instead of OC3 or vice versa! Unfortunately if that's the case, you'll have to Odin back to stock, since you can't open up FlashFire without first booting fully. Hopefully this is a feature being worked out, though, so maybe someday!
Thanks for the reply. Is there any thing I can try to do to make it go? Possibly wipe from the boot up menu or anything of the sort?
Has this been updated to work on OE2?

[ROM] [H901] Blackhole Build-your-own Rom *Open Beta 0.31* *11/21/15*

I am working on putting together a custom Rom for the T-mobile LG V10 and I'm looking for some testers. Right now any volunteers will be testing my baseline rom, one that is as stripped down as possible. The goal is to create a stable rom with as little built into the base as possible, so that all apps are optional.
I've always been frustrated by the fact that if I prefer a clock app from the market, I've still got to have the stock clock eating up space on my system partition. Same with launchers, calculators, calendars, etc. And as time goes on, it has gotten worse. Now things like youtube, google apps, etc. have a base version sitting in system, and all your updates in /data, taking up twice the space. That is the idea behind Blackhole, that when it's fully complete, you have your choice of any apps you want, and none that you don't.
The first public beta is ready, and I'd like for some intrepid users to test it out. Be aware I will be asking you to wipe your phone to test this, I will be wanting reports of any issues you run into, and this rom will be missing things you will wish it had. Be prepared to download a lot of apps from the market, because when you flash this ROM, you will have about half a page of apps left when it first boots.
I have decided to release version 0.31 Beta to anyone interested. Be aware that there are some issues stemming from stock apps being removed, you can look through this thread for details, but here are a few:
No ability to set/keep custom lockscreen wallpapers without adding the LG gallery
Cannot preview pictures or set custom homescreen wallpapers until you download a gallery app from the market (google photos works great for me)
The following stock apps remain:
Camera
Contacts
Google Settings
Messaging
Mobile Hotspot (it's built into the wifi settings app or it would be gone too)
Phone
Play store
Settings
All other apps have been removed. This version is meant to be a baseline to build upon. If you want market apps integrated into the rom, just download them and use titanium backup to convert them to system apps, then they will stay if you wipe the device. If you want some of the stock apps back, either keep an eye on my folder for the V10 on Android File Host, as I will be periodically uploading zip files that will restore stock apps, or you can grab one of the stock system pulls and copy the apps you're missing to the correct folder on the phone using a root browser (es file explorer, rom toolbox, etc.) just make sure you're putting it in the correct folder (/system/app or /system/priv-app).
Additions:
Supersu
Busybox (files, not the app)
Nova Launcher
Requirements:
T-mobile LG V10 - this is the phone that I have, and the only model I will be working on at this time. If you've got an international version, or one for another carrier, I'm sorry, please don't try to flash this.
TWRP 2.8.7.1 - Instructions and files in this thread.
Basic knowledge of logcat, android file structure, how to recover from a soft-brick.
I also strongly recommend you backup your current setup, and keep this zip on your sd card so you can flash it from twrp if necessary
If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, feel free to flash, just don't expect anything fully-featured just yet. This is the first release, everything so far has been slimming down, now it's time to build it back up into something more useful and flexible than stock.
Beta .3 changelog:
Removed some more unnecessary applications
Removed some additional files for deleted apps
Changed the default wallpaper to something more fitting
Beta .31 changelog:
Removed bootup sound
Re-added LG Update Center and Application Manager to simplify adding back some LG apps
Fixed Mobile Hotspot
Fixed a bug introduced in .3 that caused second screen to not work if main screen was on
Uploaded a .31 patch for those of you that are already on .3, so you can update without downloading another gig for the small fixes

I'd test this in a heartbeat if I didn't need my phone for work. Good luck sir.
I'll only have this device until Feb or March (whenever the M10 hits T-Mobile), but if you don't get enough testers, let me know and I'll help with what I can until then.
Can't wait to see Blackhole return!

Great to see someone starting to get this going. Two things.
1: This going to be Odexed or Deodexed?
2. I wouldn't mind helping out where i can, definitely not the most expert but i do have a couple others that are more knowledgeable and they have the v10 as well. so between the 4 of us, i think we can help you out. If interested and want us, just shoot me a PM and can try and help as well
Thanks again,

Still working out what can and can't be removed without breaking the hell out of the phone. some stuff that seems completely unrelated causes second screen to constantly FC when it's removed. I've made good progress though, and I plan on sending out the first beta invites tonight.

Uploading the first Beta now. If you PM'd me your interest, look for a response with instructions and a link in the next hour or so. Again, please be aware this is not a full featured rom yet, this is just a base with as much removed as i can manage without breaking the basic functionality. Once I get the base stable I'll start working on getting a full aroma installer put together with options for things like browser, launcher, email, bootanimations, etc. I'm looking forward to seeing how you guys can break it while I continue trying to strip out more fluff for Beta 2.

[Discontinued][Rom][VZW_G935U_PI3_PlayStore_Rom][Working_Wifi_Calling_VVM]

Why call this rom the PlayStore Rom? Because this rom features absolutely nothing, thats the beauty of it! If you want something your going to have to get it from the PlayStore. You can customize it any way you want. The rom boots and you can make a phone call and get on the playstore thats about it. So have fun!

You must decide if you want to use Google IncallUI or Samsung InCallUI. Samsung InCallUI will allow too still receive and switch to video calls and the google IncallUI will only support HD calling. To switch to google IncallUI goto settings/applications click on default applications choose calling app and click on the blue phone app. To switch back to samsung IncallUI is a little more complicated. You will need an app like root explorer and goto data/system/users/0 and then findthe setting_secure.xml and delete and then restart phone. This will restore samsung IncallUI as default
You will also want to turn edge features off since everthing is deleted
Also you need to goto SuperSU app and goto settings and click on enable su during boot and also click trust system users
Goto this thread and under Recommended Next Steps find the S7_or_S7Edge_Fixes_V15.zip or latest version and flash to fix kernel lage and doze fix.
Goto setting/about phone
Click on build number 5 times to enable developer options
Change animation and duration scales to .05 this will speed up phone
You will also have to change charging/file mode from within developer options
Remember Wiping Dalvik cache will cause phone to take up to 10 min to boot on deodexed roms
If using samsung IncallUI here is a fix for call phone FC and also location service fix

I didnt mean for my reply to come across rude. I just thought since the OP looks like the other one you thought it was the same. This is basically nothing but a bootable rom with like 5 apps installed thats it there are over 180 running apps removed. I kind of thought it would be cool to be able to build your rom how ever you want it without having to worry about what you can delete and what you cannot. I appreciate the support especially on new development. Understand I have many threads and and other devices so i sometimes keep my answers short and direct especially when using the mobile app which I hate using.

Ok, that is what I thought. I just was trying to determine if there was anything else major missing from that other ROM, knowing some apps would have to be pulled or installed, hence your "Playstore" moniker for this ROM. Ok, this is a good clean base ROM for those who like to order "a la carte" down the road when the need for other features are required. I may give it a spin for the fun of it.
Cool! We are good.

I'm using the Google incall with no issues at all. Probably no need to flash if that's what you're using.
So far the ROM is nearly perfect.
Having some MMS issues again. It only works when Wifi is turned off or not connected to a network.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I even flashed your fix it ZIP.
Hey I'm considering installing this ROM because I live the minimalism of it. How's the performance? Anyone mind posting an AnTuTu score?

I actually found one of the battery saver apps to be causing the issue. I think it was amplify through xposed, it caused the mobile data to turn off when connected to wifi. So, i turned it off and haven't had an issue since.
