N6 and OK Google hotword - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm*not sure this question belongs here but I can't seem to find any accurate information on how to change the hotword, "OK Google" to something else. I remember on my old M8 I could change it to whatever I wanted and that wasn't even rooted. If this is possible, I would really appreciate if anyone could point me in the right direction. Thanks a lot all
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA Forums Pro.

Stock Android doesn't have that option.

I've taught my phone to listen for "OK Nexus". now there's no option for that, but if you try very carefully when training it to listen for OK google, it should work.

where's the sense Rom?

I've never posted but I can't figure this out. I searched Google but the only sense roms I found were from February. In xda-nexus-development there are a bunch of themes stock roms, but I don't see any full sense roms. I remember when I had the g1 and the sense roms were slow but everything except Bluetooth worked. I'm sure by now there's a Rom that pretty much makes my nexus into a desire, I really want to try out full sense. But I can't find one anywhere. I know the question sounds dumb but ive seriously looked, I even downloaded Rom manager and looked through its lost. I know it exists because it existed for the g1 and the nexus blows the g1 away. Sorry, I need help.
I call bull**** that you've searched.
As of right now, the sense rom thread is holding a very prominent position in its respective forum.
Not all that helpful, but here's a few tips ronjeremy. Use the advanced search, you can narrow your search out with it (choose only the forum sections you need). Second, look in the development section, you usually find all roms there.
For instance, for Nexus One try here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=559
Why don't people use the search bar? It takes even longer to wait for people to respond than to just "search" the damned thing.

can you link me to "the sense rom thread"? I believe you that it exists, but it must not have the word in the title because when i searched on google, i found "sense" roms that were very old, when i searched this forum there was 1 thread with the word "sense" in it, none with the word "desire". No Bull****. So I dont know what to tell you, maybe i should look in every rom post and if there arent screen pics maybe i should flash every rom? Because its definitely a lot faster to post a question than open every single rom thread.

i tried, i just want a plain sense rom and i couldnt find it
Not gonna link you to it, you'll never learn how to search. I'm glad others aren't spoon feeding it to you either.
Just head into the right forum, hit CONTROL+F and search for "sense" or "desire." Even without searching, I can see TWO sense rom threads within the first page of the appropriate forum.
And when you search in the forum, just search for titles only and just search for "sense" or "desire" in the right forum.
@erikikaz you are too cool
dont know why you would even want sense (unless you absolutely need the htc facebook app or the FM radio)... sense was great about 2 years ago
vanilla froyo + adw/qd, etc have far surpassed the sense UI
I'm using CM 6 with black notification bar, imported sense live wallpaper and launcher pro plus (which is adding sense-like widgets constantly), and the weather and clock widget and I get a sense-like experience without the graphical glitches and Rom bugs. Yeah I paid for some of it, but supporting developers is never a bad thing and once purchased the app is mine across any Rom I install. Unlike sense.

You have no friends. Is this supposed to be some sort of lessen that you are blessing me with? Because I think you're a douche bag getting some sort of loser-jollies from withholding a link to an internet thread, its sad. But its also funny, but I'm sure you're no stranger to people laughing at you. So what are you fat? Got a lazy eye? Maybe your boyfriend told you that your peckers tiny? Get over yourself, I did search, I'm not allowed to post links, but believe me I'd post the link for you. Now I'm on my nexus one, when I press "search forum" the search box appears and disappears so what next? Maybe you could hit me with another one of your life-changing, eye-opening, "this hurts me more than it hurts you" queer lessens? i see one by "evil" which isnt right, i see one in a guide by paul which is 2.1, is that as new as it gets? no flash on sense on nexus one?
well. i think the closest rom you'll find is the MCR, Modaco Custom Rom. i waited for those rom too, but idk why, it seems the development was canceled. i don't know for sure. try to look for MCR in android development.
In fact there was/is no completed Sense Froyo port until now.
evil's NXSense ROM is almost complete now (besides USB mount notification and some small BT quirks).
There's Alpha of kingclick's Desire Froyo port (not on the forum).
Look them up, flash, compare, see what you like.
thanks for the replies, i tried modaco it was pretty great, but i instantly missed flash and wifi hotspot setting. But the rom was really smooth, if a froyo one pops up im in. Is the evil one you are talking about going to be themed like his current one or will it be the way it is supposed to be?
Oh no, you've hurt my feelings. It's just terribly unfortunate that none of your descriptions fit me. I've tutored many kids like yourself. You try to teach them through the Socratic method and all they do is reverse their inability or unwillingness to work through a problem on you, blaming you for their failures. Nothing new.

So tell me, did control+F work for you or not? And if it didn't, did you heed my advice and actually just head over to those forums to look at the first page of posts? If so, you're welcome.

Don't be so easy, sheesh. Here comes a lesson, ready?. Try using the search bar at the top of the page. Guess what? When you click it, it won't disappear! And I already told you to search under titles only. Hopefully all this information isn't already over your head.

Complain much? You asked for sense roms and you got them. And if you actually did some more prodding you'd find that modaco actually has a 2.2...ahh, screw it, find it yourself

It's themed the same as his previous ROMs, but there are themes that you can flash over it to get the original sense ui theme. I believe the theme is even posted in evil's thread.
I've been running evil's Q&D NXSense v.1.04 rom since it was posted and so far it seems really complete (besides BT issues and no FM radio - which I never use anyway).

[Q] Why don't all apps show up in marketplace?

So I wrote and published an app - I can see it on AppBrain and people have been downloading it, but I don't see it...
What gives?
http://www.appbrain.com/app/mammoth-mountain-lift-status/com.snyamathi.MammothMountain
Being censored by at&t? Turn on airplane mode then turn on wifi and access the market through that connection and search for it.
Hmmm I still don't see it. I asked my friend (droid on Verizon) if he could see it and he said that he can. Odd
I can see it on my cappy on att with docs rom kitchen rom. Came right up when I searched mammoth mountain
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Searched mammoth mountain and it came up for me as well on serendipity. Only other thing would be the fingerprint in the build prop that most use which changes it to verizon. I will flash stock and check it later today out of curiosity.

Google developer's forums would be able to help you. Also here on xda, the android apps forums would be a place to ask. Not at all coming down on you. I can think of quite a few reasons why I'd ask that question here to a small helpful community. Just trying to give a couple places to ask if you don't find an answer here. Good luck, and I'll have to check out your app.
From a phone
I'll have to check that out - I've been having a lot of trouble with things not showing up in my market, not just this app.
When I search "Mammoth Mountain" all I get is 3 results for "Gps Skis Maps USC/CAN". Still can't see it, really frustrating...
Shows up on my captivate and I'm just running rooted JH7
I figured out the problem:
By disabling content protection (makes it harder for people to copy your app off of the phone) the application now shows up in my marketplace. Something about that made it invisible to me.

[Q] Need someone to develop a custom ROM for me

This question applies to the Samsung Galaxy Note (not the Note II), the SGH-T879 distributed by Tmobile.
Pardon me if this is a ridiculous question or if it is posted in a wrong forum; I know so little about these things.
I got the Note (referenced above) several months ago. I have beaten my head against a wall trying to get it to record both sides of a conversation within the phone -- without having to use speakerphone -- with no success.
I've tried many call recording programs, even ones with great reviews, and I think my problem is that Android versions later than 2.3.5 have blocked direct access to the firmware or hardware (not sure exactly which applies here). I have no experience with programming or development and don't want to learn. So here's my question: What would it cost to get someone to write a custom ROM that will allow the call recording programs to work properly? Or is that even a practical consideration at all?
Please, no suggestions on trying call recording programs or the moral or legal implications. Let's just stick to the question about the custom ROM.
Pffft! Whatever wrong forum.

Some of the Custom ROM in Development section has Call Recording Option, Did you try any of those Rom.
For example "Saurom-Projekt The_Hybrid 'Inovation' edition| AROMA" has call Recording. I have not used this rom but i just looked under the change log and it says it has Call Recording.

I think its safe to say that 98% of all Dev's on xda dont do this for money so I think just flat out paying somebody to do this is out. second you make a point of saying you refuse to learn to do it yourself which a lot of people would agree goes against the very spirit and intention of this site. Ya gotta be willing to learn if thats what it takes to make things happen the way you want! I hope ya have luck finding your answer though!
Yea, I'm using Saurom-Projekt, and it records fine unless you are using a bluetooth headphone. That coupled with an app (I use Sanity) gives me automatic incoming and outgoing call recording.

you obviously haven't tried call recorder by skvalex... Been using it for almost a year. Best 10 dollars ever spent. of course there is one thing you have to do on the note to get it to work but you clearly stated you don't want to learn or didn't want any program suggestions.

Okay, I get it. This forum is for developers who help developers; but, I need a solution sooner than the years it would take me to learn how to program. I've never programmed. I've never been in the same room with a programmer, as far as I know.

I have no idea what some of those words mean. I have no idea how to choose a ROM that would both enable my phone to record calls and that would be compatible with my hardware, I understand there are several versions of the i717 and ROMs for one aren't necessarily compatible with others and I have no idea how to choose the correct one. Then there is the problem that the terms I've read in the ROMs' capabilities/descriptions frequently have no meaning to me. I'm lost in China and I don't speak Chinese.
I've tried this kind of thing before and what usually happens is that people try to help and I think they give up and go away in their own frustration trying to help someone who is clueless even about the words they use when trying to help me. It's very frustrating.

So, after having expressed my frustrations and made it clear I'm a non-developer asking questions that only a developer would understand the answers for, what is this "one thing" I have to do, v3rsatile23?

Alex, you have to learn. You have to do your own studying. No one here on XDA has the time to do all the work for you - you have to understand how to flash something, how to recover if you do and something goes awry, how to deal with testing - no one else here can do that for you.
XDA is a volunteer run Development forum - it isn't here to teach basic uses. Please keep reading and don't do anything until you're fully up to speed. Now, before the flames start, I'm closing this thread.

New milk music hack?

Hello, rather a new ish member to XDA. Well im not new,I've always used xda, just never had an account, made an account, haven't used it since til now,so excuse me if this is in the wrong category.
I,being a fan of Milk music, miss having a samsung just because I can't get it any way else. I noticed that there was a hack before, and a while back i tried that, it didn't work. I couldn't get samsung account to work and it would skip all songs until it would spam the notification that I've hit skip limit.
So the main question is: Is there a new milk music hack to work on 5.1 devices(my nexus 6 for example) or at least the new version of Milk, or am I forever doomed without the wonderful app?
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA Free mobile app
to answer your question, I am clueless, since I stay away from Samsung devices. BUT.. I can help you in XDA. you posted your question in the general category. instead, all questions, or if help is needed, these questions get posted into the q&a/help section. so, since you are looking for an answer, I'll ask a mod to move your thread into the correct section.

Hi, a quick search for your question, yielded no results from this forum. However, have a look here:

Need Info, Google Home

My brother in law, ran into something with his Google Home mini. And I tested it myself with my mini. I need some information if anyone could help.
I'm not sure how he came across this.
When saying hey Google, and asking to speak to hash 8, the Google Assistant will bring up a entirely different voice assistant. That you can ask questions, and interact with. It can't answer any of your question tho. You ask what the weather is like, it says it can't help with that, etc.
He said, he called Google, and they had no idea what it is. They directed him to the engineers, and they took his information, and interactions with this assistant.
