Why no Quick charger with standard box ?? - Huawei P9 Questions & Answers

my P9 (Eva-L19) taking ages to full charge the battery.!! as an ex s6 edge user this is really hard for me.
can anyone suggest me a compatible quick charge for my P9 ?

I asked if qualcom chargers are compatible and I received this from huawei: we cannot guarantee that other type of chargers will work with our device. My best advise for you will be to keep searching this type of charger, because soon the big UK retailers will have it in stock, as the request for P9 keeps on growing. Best of luck!

Is this the right kind of thing? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Original-...Charger-Adapter-US-Plug-Charger-/231918953690

Ok. My note 3, s4 charger works great with fast charge on my P9 but it gets a little hot. Fast charge does not work at all with my S6 adaptive quick charge charger, it took me 14 hours to go from 20% to 90%.

[Q] S6 Fast Charge - Qualcomm charger

Hi, I purchased a Galaxy S6 Edge whilst abroad and got a 2pin adaptive fast charger with it.
I'm back in the UK and was looking to buy the Adaptive fast charger off Amazon.co.uk however for two of the sellers I saw a load of negative reviews about the charger breaking after a while or it bursting/overheating and burning up and that they are not actually original Samsung fast chargers.
Now I don't really want to walk into an actual Samsung Store and buy myself a charger from them as I'm guessing it'll cost somewhere between £20-30.
- If there are any other sites that actually do sell legitimate Samsung Fast Chargers please do let me know!
I found a popular Quick Charger 2.0 on Amazon which has very good reviews as well as users using it on the S6 and is reasonably priced - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Qualcomm-Ce...qid=1441513304&sr=8-2&keywords=qualcomm+quick
I just have a few questions about using other Quick chargers (2.0) and not the original fast charger on the S6 edge.
1) Will this be unsafe in anyway to use on the S6 Edge, as in it possibly getting too hot etc or would you not recommend using a 3rd party charger and just stick to an original samsung fast charger
2) The quick charge mode on the charger gives out 9V/2A, compared to the Samsung Fast charger which outputs 9V/1.67A. Will a quick charge (2.0) charger cause any harm to the phone or battery by outputting more power than the original Samsung fast charger does?
3) The charger I linked has 3 output modes. Output: 5V/2A, 9V/2A, 12V/1.5A - Since S6 edge supports fast charging will it just use the 9V/2A output or will it get to use the 12V/1.5A output and will this in anyway harm the battery or phone?
4) Could I use the linked quick charger longterm without any problems to the device (I really do plan to keep this phone for a few years).
If there are any other Fast Chargers/Quick Chargers that are compatible and better than the one I linked please do let me know.
Thanks for your all your time! :highfive:

I've been using a Motorolla turbo charger from mobilefun for at least 6 months that has the 3 voltage levels on my Note 4 with no ill effect. The phone will only request the voltage it wants from the charger when it wants. I also use the turbo charger on an ipad and battery pack with no problems.

Is a 5V 3A charger safe to use on a P9

Just picked up a new P9 today, but the store doesnt supply wall chargers in their device boxes anymore, apparently due to fire risk (this crazy Note 4 paranoia), my 5V 2A charger is agonisingly slow, but will my Google 3A fast charger be safe..
We really need to stop this Note 4 insanity... it was just one device ffs...
Thanks
i also want to know ive got my nexus 5x charger and i want to know if its safe and if it has noticeable impact in the battery
Yes, fine and safe to use, but it wont be any quicker than the Huawei 5V2A one (well maybe very slightly quicker, but hardly noticable)
Only Huawei chargers (Quick charge 9V2A) are faster.
Thanks friend.. I know that these days the 100% Charge cut off is in the phone not the charger, so it shouldnt blow up if left plugged in a while.. right?
Correct, the phone will only draw the current it needs

Xiaomi Mi Mix Quick charge 3.0 question. Please help

I have recently purchased the Mi Mix with the Chinese ROM, I have now unlocked the bootloader and flashed the most current global ROM, I believe the Mi MIx is quick charge 3.0 according to specs on Qualcomm and Xiaomi website. I have tried the LG g5 quick charge plug and the Anker quick charge 3.0 powerport +1 and neither of them display fast or quick charging, it definitely isn't quick charging as it takes nearly 5 hours to charge. Any help or info would be appreciated as it's driving me crazy, I understand it's a much bigger battery but surely 5 hours for a brand new phone isn't fast charging, could this be the kernel or global ROM isn't supported. Thank you to anyone that me be able to help in any way.
Ok?

I don't understand why it would take that long, the question would be from what % are you changing, my mix takes a little more than an hour to go from 45% to 100, and a little bit more than two hours from 5% with the changer that it came with, remember not all phones are created equal also I'm on epic rom 7.3.30
Battery is 4000 mAh then to charge you have to wait a bit... with a quick charge 3, i have 1h45 to fully charge my device...
Try another usb cable
Ok, I changed the cable and plug, charging from 0-100% in just under 2 hours, fairly quick but should it show on the lock screen as fast charging as mine shows just charging.
I'm using Ampere app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gombosdev.ampere). On original charger it shows max possible current 1800 mA, and after some crazy readings it stabilizes indeed around of that value. Other my chargers are not so good. You have to wait a bit (minute?) until the reading will be accurate. First readings are crazy high.
Other such apps probably work as well.
ampere give u right speed amperage value.... value decrease with higher battery level, you are not full mA all the time.... if somedody use a custom kernel like papashclumpf... try to ask a way to fully charge all the ime... i suppose kernel can manage this !

Question Fast charging, and superfast charging

I have the Samsung 25w charger, and when using it it appears the phone will only either cable charge or superfast charge. It wont also fast charge. I want to maximize the battery life span of the phone, and cable charging is inconveniently slow, and I figured that fast charging would be a happy medium between that and maxing it out. I was under the impression that it's the phone that dictates the rate of charge it will accept from the brick, and the brick only determines the maximum deliverable current. If I understand correctly, we can use samsung's 45w charger, but the phone will obviously only allow 25w from it. I'm puzzled why when using the 25w charger the phone can't just accept 15w when set to only fast charge. Is this a bug?
Hi,
You might plug in your phone, Go to Parameters, Section Battery, Advanced Battery, and activate Super charge and superfast charge in order using fast and supercharge with your 45W charger !
Yes, I've done that. The 25w charger will only super fast charge, but won't just fast charge. I would have thought it could either one, whichever I have it set to do.
if you want fast charge ..... deactivate superfast charge should be the solution ! Isn't it ?
Probably a firmware/software glitch.
Fast charging will not enable if battery temp is too low.
To avoid Li plating the battery temp should be a minimum of 72°F or higher, the preferred minimum is 80°F.
Using the 45 watt brick may shorten battery life.
Fast charging with the 25 watt brick appears to do little damage.
Li's prefer brief, frequent midrange charges ie 40-65%. Avoid discharging below 30% and charging beyond 90% although 80% is a better top limit.

No, if you only activate fast charge (with superfast deactivated) and use the 25w brick, the notification in the shade says cable charging, and that takes like 2hrs to charge the phone.

That doesn't sound like fast charging is active. It should gain about 2%@minute through most of its range except the top end where it goes to about 1%@minute.
When this doesn't work correctly it's a true pain to troubleshoot. My 10+ started dropping out of fast charging prematurely. A new 25 watt brick/cable and trying a lot of other remedies still hasn't fully restored it.
I'm curious if anyone here has a 25w brick that could confirm if this behavior is present globally, or if this is something just on my device? Only activate fast charging in the battery settings, plug the phone in with the 25w charger, and look in the notification shade and see what the charge rate is tagged as. I'd be grateful if someone would confirm this.

I have noted that you practise the same charging procedures as I have done for several years (and you obviously have done as well). With my Note9 and S8 + I used to not let it drop below 40% if I can avoid it and also not go above 80%. All this is fine and most of this we all probably learned from Battery University and Isadore Buchmann. That all said, and I am really not sure if I am keeping this phone - Decision today or tomorrow - my question comes to the matter of calibration. When I received this phone some 14 days ago I charged it to 100% but thereafter did not run it down to zero but kept it above 40% the whole time. The question I put to you (and others can learn from your response) is there a need to "calibrate" the device initially (ie run down to say 10% for example once a month) as was suggested by Buchmann probably a few years ago?

You and I discussed this earlier. Do you think it is the port that has become damaged? Part of the reason for my getting the wireless charger is my Note 9 is very erratic when it comes to fast charging. Cleaning out the port with a toothbrush/compressed air. rebooting...wiping cache partition, new cable etc never truly fixed it for me. I do feel that when first plugging in the S21 ultra (before going wireless) the connection seemed a lot firmer.

It does appear to be related to the Samsung 25w brick. I have the one that came with my S20U. It will "Super fast charge" my S21U no problem. If I turn off super fast charging in the phone, it only says "charging" when plugged in, and with my phone @ 65%, it said it would take well over an hour to charge (forgot the exact time). Then I took my phone w/o changing any settings to a generic 18w QC3 brick, and it said "fast charging", and said it would take 44 mins to complete.
Ive seen this same type of issue as well with 2 different chargers. One charger (45w pd) will fast charge with super turned on but not fast, notification only says fast charge. The second (39w qc3) will fast charge with regular fast charging turned on, but turning on super does nothing. Charge times are the same with both chargers on regular charging and fast, with 0 differemce between fast charging and super.

I'm as clueless as you at this point unfortunately.
My port is good, cable/charger, tried hard reset, cleared system/akp caches, did the recall thing and so on.
I'm wondering if it's a battery fault. Do older batteries go into fast charging the same as newer ones? It's almost as if it's throttling the fast charging, sometimes it's full bore then it drops out to 1%@45 seconds then to 1%@minute.
Or is it a calibration ie it thinks it's at 90% when it's only at 70%?
The only I haven't done is a factory reset, lol.
All this started one night when it was slow charged to 100%. WTF?
TFF the curse of technological Beast!
Guess I'll try recall again.

Right on. Sounds like it's not just my phone. That's a relief. It's puzzling why the phone can't also fast charge with that brick. Perhaps it's simply a bug that Samsung either never noticed, or it isn't a priority to them. It would be nice if we could take advantage of the different settings without having to have two different bricks sitting around.
I think I figured it out. The fast charging setting is for the old classic fast charger. If you connect your phone to that one, you'll see it says it's fast charging. If you don't have fast charging turned on, it'll prompt you to turn it on to use that charger at it's maximum capability. If you use one of the newer Samsung C to C bricks, it's going to do the super fast charging.
I am currently using this Baseus charging plug and get full range of charging options - fast / super fast.
Thought I would try some I have hanging around before buying a Samsung one.

XDA just covered this in their article:
Fast Charging Explained: The slowest to the fastest Fast Charging technologies
Curious about fast charging? Here's everything you need to know about fast wired charging standards and how to pick the best charger!
www.xda-developers.com
Unless a charger has USB-PD PPS they will only FAST Charge @ 18w with fast charge on (super fast on/off wont matter as it will be off). If you are getting super fast charging then you are getting the expected 25w which is totally fine and not bad for battery. You will get super fast with the samsung 25w adapter and maybe the previous series 45w adapter.
I have a 45W USB-C PD port as part of an Anker PowerPort and also the 18W charger that came with my Pixel 5. Would I notice much of an improvement in charging speed or integrity/longevity of the battery by purchasing Samsung's 25W charger?

No huge charging improvement. It most likely will degrade the battery faster.
I use only the Samsung 25w bricks because they are known good and relatively cheap.
Just picked up a 25w brick and cable for $20.
The amount of trouble a defective charging hardware can cause means I won't consider using 3rd party chargers/cables for fast charging.
Fast charging is a nightmare to troubleshoot as I'm learning now... will see if a couple full 100-0% charge cycles get it or not.
It's time consuming and irritating.

Thanks for posting the link to that article. It clears some things up. Charging standards have become rather confusing with all the proprietary standards. This makes me feel more comfortable using the 25w super fast setting on the s21 ultra.

Accessories Cheap wireless charger

Hi All
I bought a cheap QI wireless charger on eBay for my Mi 11 Ultra. It was only a few pounds. It comes with a USB cable, but no charger. It has an LED which is red when powered, and turns blue when charging. It's only 10W but I figure if I charge it overnight that's plenty of time to charge a 5Ah battery.
So far, it seems to work OK if the phone is turned on, but not so if it's turned off, which is a bit confusing as when Iay the phone (turned off) ont he charger, the LED goes blue and the phone does the mini-boot to display the battery logo.
When I get some spare time, I'll run my phone down to zero and charge it fully using the charger to see how long it takes.
I'll have a further play and update this as I go. The original link was:

I still have the old Qi charger I got with the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3. I think it's 10W, and man it's slow!

I got one of those for free with my phone and I only put it on for 10-15 minutes and when I picked up the phone it was hotter than charging with the 67w cable
I haven't used it since in case it damages the battery even faster
Ok so I've had a play with the charger today. From a 1% battery charge,it fully chargers my Mi 11 in 5.5hours. In the days of supercharging, this is fine for me as I sleep 8 hours a night so I can fully charge my phone overnight easily.
I didn't notice any overheating, though. I charged my Ultra with a plastic covering on the back.
Anyway., 'cos I don't get out much, here's a graph:

Steve
Just a bit more on this. The phone didn't charge to 100% overnight as I slept. I think this is because the adaptor in my bedroom isn't powerful enough. According to the charger, it's 5V at 2A so 5x2 = 10W I thought should be OK but it isn't.
Maybe this charger is underrated but in any case, it works jsut fine and charges up to 100% on my Xiaomi 67W charger so I'll use that instead.
Cheers Steve

Hi @empty.cad well, that's a posh charger! Where did you buy it from and how much was it?
Just to finish off my short novel on the cheap charger, I used the Xiaomi charger last night with the phone case on and it charged to 100%, so job done
OK I'll stop banging on now as my life is complete

Hi @picitup !
I would like to ask you about your charging experience. Some people reported that using quick 67w charger makes their battery to drain quicker during the normal phone usage, where charging it slower make it to drain slower. Did you noticed any difference in this matter?
What is your screen on time afyer charging the phone with 10w wireless charger?
I am asking all this because I plan to do the same as you - to charge the phone slowly overnight with the wireless charger.
Hi @misiek735
I'm not sure of the answer, but I'll discharge my phone and charge it up tonight using the cheapy wireless charger and run the Norwegian Train Ride video from youtube and time it. First time I charged it with the 67W charger and did this test, it ran for 11.5 hours which I thought was quite good. So now all we need are the wireless figures. I'll post up tomorrow after ZZZzzzz
Interestingly, it seems to work well with my daughter's and her boyfriends Iphone.
Watch this space.....
I just had a thought. I installed an app called Plug Sound here:
Plug Sound - Apps on Google Play
Enjoy millions of the latest Android apps, games, music, movies, TV, books, magazines & more. Anytime, anywhere, across your devices.
play.google.com
It plays a custom sound when you plug your charger in and another when you unplug it. Pleasingly, it also works with wireless charging which is handy for positioning the phone on the charger, ensuring it's in the right place.

No, the 67w phone charger in china is optionally free and the phone costs under $1000, probably considerably less unless you get the 12/512 model everyone likes
There is no other waterproof phone with a SD 888 ,12gb ram 512gb storage, 5k battery and this screen quality and a 67w charger for the price
Try harder
It's true. I'm a fully qualified tight wad. Must go as the nice young men in their clean white coats are at the door.
On that note, I didn't pay $1500, I paid $1,000 on Giztop for 12M/512G but they are going for £1400.00 ($1983.00) on fleabay UK with "no returns" lol.
A short delay on this. I discharged the phone yesterday using a 12 hour youtube vid and got it down to 2%.
It didn't charge overnight as I changed the USB cable. I guess for a couple of amps, you need a decent cable, not the cheapy 5 strand ones.
It's now charging up wierelessly using a short USB cable which seems to be working fine so there will be a delay of a day on the results, but don't worry I'm on it
i am sorry if i upset you, please enjoy your phone.
just to clarify $1000 on giztop, same giztop from other thread that does not ship yes?
and other thing while i still may ... some complain newer miui updates has a lot bugs for example gestures stopped working ... just saying .... did they eventually figure how to create larger notes?

Hi I'm not uspet. Here in the UK we say 'I'm too old and ugly to get upset' so no worries. Yes I bought from giztop a month or so ago and they did ship it out and it arrived in about a week. I just looked at giztop and according to their page, the phone is in stock.
I don't use gestures - something I have to learn about. I've noticed some 'bits and pieces' of irritation when updating - some of my permissions change. For example, I use Chomp SMS and gave it permission to read SMS, but after the update it didn't have that permission so I just re-enabled it again nd it works fine.
This all may be academic soon, though as I checked mi unlock yesterday and had 56 hours left to unlock so should be Thursday for me, then I'll flash the EU rom.
Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean by large notes?
Back to the charger. Sorry for the delay in doing the test. I got a new printer and had a play with it yesyerdayh. I'll do my best to post up tomorrow.
Cheers
Steve
