UB question - Xiaomi Mi 5 Questions & Answers

Hi guys. Ive been thinking of selling my xperia Z5 to buy mi5.
With Sony, if You unlock its bootloader, you will lose DRM keys which are proprietary features like x-reality engine, screenmirroring, camera quality and other sony features.
MY question is, if you unlock the BL of MI5, will you lose some xiaomi proprietary features?

screen mirroring still works and haven't seen any difference in camera

From what I know: no feature is lost by unlocking bootloader, even manufacturer warranty is intact (but remains to be seen the reseller warranty).

Help on buying new device

Hi. After two (tragic) years with Xperia SP, i'm deciding to sell it to buy my first flagship device this week. Currently, I have three options: Xperia Z3, Oneplus One or Zenfone 2 4gb. What do you guys think is the best of these three, considering the price and development support? TIA

Asus Zenfone 2 uses Intel chipset so as of now very little development support. Otherwise it is best & cheapest option.
Amongst 1+1 and Z3 I would definetely choose Z3 anyday.
Thanks for the reply. Any thoughts about LG G3?

Ofcourse LG G3 is an excellent choice but it has 1 bad flaw .. it is the battery
However, the another features are fantastic . contains a good camera , software and design
But in my opinion , The Z3 is the best choice of them

You actually can't do that buddy it won't fit first of all and even if you manage to fit it won't be working every camera part is programmed to work with one phone it cannot be replaced by any other smartphone camera

As a bonus; It's possible but needs TON of work to get camera running. The biggest problem is software.

Anyone coming from Sony Z5 / ZX1 to Nokia 8?

Currently using a Sony Xperia Z5 Compact and looking for an update to either a Sony ZX1 Compact or this Nokia 8.
Size is a big plus of the Xperia Compact series but I am not happy with the camera on the Z5. It seems like Nokia 8 has its camera limitations but I am hoping it would be an upgrade from the Z5 Compact.
Anyone with experience with the newest Sony ZX1 and Nokia 8 could share their thoughts and opinions, primarily in regards to camera quality?
Thanks in advance!

its' me, i come from a Z5 6683. i won't never buy sony again, worst battery and SOT time ever. with the nokia 8 i've seen 5.45h of SOT which is amazing, plain Oreo is also beatiful. for the camera i'm not an expert sorry, what i can see is that the one on the 8 is much more faster, you can keep the button pressed to create photo sequences, slow motion and so on are also there. IMHO the 8 beats the sony Z5 in every area.
well, I think I'm little late
but if you still wondering I'm coming from Xperia XZ & XZ1
I can confirm that Sony & Nokia are really close but I prefer Nokia battery life & close to stock UI

Advice: Sony build quality, or Nubia X innovation?

Hi to all. I am in for a new phone and I had my eye on an XZ2 or possibly XZ3 (Sony fanboy here).
Sony has the usual build quality plus the EU guarantee and I like the design, BUT I cannot help being attracted by the Nubia innovation.
I have never even touched a ZTE phone before, so I have no idea about the build quality.
They both work out about the same price for me with Nubia ordered from a Chinese online shop, therefore not much about warranty (This is a minus point).
Can anyone who has experienced both brands (or not) give me any serious advice? (I am aware about the gapps in Nubia and bootloader issues with XZ2).
Thanks to all!
(This is posted in both XZ2 and Nubia forums)

Help me pick, Mi 8 vs Mix 2s vs OP6 vs Mi MIX 3

What to pick, i need info from most up to date sofrwate features, performance updates, and development of this 3 phones, i do not care for launch status of this phones.
Example, the Mi8 had trash video at launch, now it is much better, but i dont know how do they compare with most current updates/software.
What is most important to me,
Display
Speed/touch/responsiveness
Video camera
Price
Speakers (stereo mod available without root maybe?
Gcam best support and easy install
Price
Please help me pick, i would get the Mix 3 only if its noticable better, its quite out of my budget sadly, thanks.
P.S. I've heard of terrible ghosting/jello on the Mix 2s, was it fixed with updates? if it was i would buy it in a heartbeat, such a stunning design, its unreal!
Tbh they're all so similarly spec'd and well built so just get the one that saves you the more money.
I would like to say that it's your preference. I will list the downside of each device :
- The Mi Mix 2s is the one with the worst front cam (only 5mpx) and with an IPS display (I prefer AMOLED but IPS is cheaper to replace). Widevine L3. If the Pocophone gets a Widevine L1, expect an update.
- The Mi Mix 3 is a piece of art, yes. But I'm worried about dust that accumulates between the screen and the "mother bloc". And also if it falls... I think it will break right the first time. Widevine L3. If the Pocophone gets a Widevine L1, expect an update.
- For the OP6 : A bit more expensive than the Mi8 but for me, it was really important. Also, no telephoto lens, speakers aren't great. I prefer the microphone recording of the Mi8, OxygenOS, Widevine L1 with a locked bootloader, but with an unlocked bootloader, it goes to L3. Not really scratchproof on the back.
- At last but not least, the Mi8 : Large notch, no headphone jack (not a big deal I think), Widevine L3. If the Pocophone gets a Widevine L1, expect an update.
Honestly I would just buy poco phone.
- better value / price VS any of the phones mentioned
- huge battery
- it has loud speakers (like at full volume it can get kinda uncomfortable from up close)
- great support here on xda, very easy to ul install gcam with excellent results (similar with mi8 in most situations).
Only downside is the screen (it is not that bad but not as vivid as an Amoled and need to be kept at high brightness).
Buy mi 8 if amoled is a must for you.

What about to wait for Mi9 ...

I think it will cost the same as the MI mix 3 (if not higher) since it will be powered by a Sony 48mpx cam, an in display fingerprint scanner (you have just to check how high Mi8 pro price is compared to the classic Mi8), and of course the awaited Snapdragon 855

Mi9 isn't Mi8 Pro. Mi9 Pro will be also more expensive, Mi9 "must" have "normal" price
edit: Mi9 will cost more than Mi8 coz Sony and SD855

I know, but the fact that the Mi9 will have a in-display fingerprint scanner will increase the price. Also, I think the Mi9 pro will be the 5G variant. But it's just hypothesis
