Lenovo ZUK Z1 launched in India . - Zuk Z1 General

Lenovo opted for something unique to unveil the ZUK Z1, unlike the usual smartphone launches . What made the launch extraordinary was that it was the world’s first ever crowd sourced smartphone launch and was streamed live on http://www.z1iscoming.com/lenovo-zuk-z1-launch. I was lucky enough to be among the 8 lucky people who launched and shared their take on the power packed smartphone. To everyone’s surprise, the phone is well-priced at just INR 13,499, which is quite less than expected.
About ZUK
ZUK is a Lenovo-owned smartphone brand founded in 2015. The major motive of the brand is to deal with the Internet-era, which is why it is an online-only brand. ZUK has partnered with Cyanogen to base its products’ Android distribution upon a variant of the popular custom ROM CyanogenMod.
Lenovo ZUK Z1 Specifications
Display, Hardware and Software
The Lenovo ZUK Z1 comes with a 5.5″ full HD display. The thin bezel and the metal sides accentuates the look of the phone and makes it look sturdy. The device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.5GHz alongside Adreno 330 graphics. The device is packed with 3GB of RAM and 64GB internal memory. However, the memory cant be expanded since the phone doesnt support memory card. For all those who love customizing their phone, Lenovo ZUK is made for you. Since ZUK Z1 runs Cyanogen OS 12.1 based on Android 5.1.1, you can customize your phone and even the warranty wont get void.
Battery and Camera
ZUK Z1 gets its juice from a 4100mAh battery. When you leave this smart device on charge overnight and it gets fully charged, it will work on the adapter instead of the battery. This helps to avoid the hampering of the battery due micro cycles.
The device sports a 13MP primary and a 8MP front camera. The Sony IMX214 sensor, Optical image stablisation and f/2.2 aperture are responsible for the crisp and clear images shotted by Lenovo Z1. Moreover, you can switch from one mode to another (night, HDR, Auto etc) with just a swipe. Although the images shot from Z1 are a little over-saturated but that isnt much of an issue when it comes to daylight photography.
Connectivity
Lenovo Z1 features with a fingerprint scanner on the home button just like Apple and Samsung smartphones. What appeals me the most about the fringerprint scanner is that it can unlock pretty fast even when the finger is wet/sweaty. Apart from that, the USB Type-C 3.0 present on the phone allows you quick charge and quick transfer of data. Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-fi a/b/g/n/ac, GPS and 4G/LTE are the other connectivity options available on the device.
The Lenovo ZUK Z1 will be available on Amazon.in on May 19 at 2pm for it’s first flash sale. Registrations have already begun. Hurry up!

Thinking of getting this phone since someone stole my OnePlus One on a train. And the Zuk Z1 appears to be a slightly upgraded OPO. Plus it's cheaper, so yeah, waiting patiently until Thursday.

you should go for this !

Already done that, mate.

So I received my ZUK Z1 today after the flash sale on 19th May. The charger inside the box is only 5V/2A. Isn't it supposed to be 5V/2.5A ?

i purchased zuk z1 on last flash sale.
i noticed 2 things
1. the screen looks like a pale white . And red & green are high than other colours while watching videos
2. while making voice calls back side becomes vibrate means the voice of the other end person can feel on back side.
is that normal .....?

[Q] Next Sony Flagship Device

So we've all seen the leaked images of the Sony D6503 Sirius . Is this device going to be the next Xperia Z, in other words the 1st half of the year flagship device ? Only then to be replaced by a replacement of the Xperia Z1 in the 2nd half of the year ?
I've come to the conclusion that the 2nd half of the year models are generally better, they have refined all the mistakes in the earlier model. For example they made the Z waterproof but we were stuck with flaps for the headphone jack, no camera button and an early dock connector. They corrected all these things in the Z1. If I remember correctly they did the same thing with the Xperia S and T. The 1st half of the year flagship take a big jump in design and features but can be a little rough around the edges , the 2nd half devices are more finished in my opinion.
I've have the Xperia S and now the Z. I'm wanting to jump onto the 2nd half of the year devices (Not buy 2 handsets in one year). Thats why i'm curious is the new Sirius early flagship or the late one ?
Does anyone else agree with my thoughts on this ?
RE: Next Sony Flagship Device
well according to the rumors, it looks like a marginal upgrade from z1 but it still sports the same soc and camera and very similar hardware design. personally i do not see a reason to uograde

What usually happens is, in this case, everything before the Z will be left behind in the next major update. But.. this could change anytime of course with KitKat being a lighter OS version than previous allowing for weaker handsets to still perform with new updates.
Yes. I want all the new apps on my Z now, i'm sick of installing ports from newer devices to my current device that isn't even 12 months old !

from the z i will not upgrade until i see a 32gb variant with smaller bezels but that is just me

No. Sirius is just a Z1 refresh. The true next flagship will come later...
the true next flagship phone will crack next gen boundaries
software and hardware and it will come in at a affordable price
Yeah... I don't really want to upgrade to the Z1 because the bezel is bigger. They need to keep it the same size as the Z in future phones.
For me, Z still rules... Z1 is too big!

Yeah, when I got the Z I said it was big enough. But my Z is not wearing the best, the paint has worn off on the corners. An aluminium bezel would resist this better I think.

It does not give any ROI buying the phone now because the S800 finishing its life span in terms of the king of the benchmark. I am waiting for snapdragon 805 that is because it graphics benefit and it would be " future proof" because it is 64 bit. I am pretty sure that Qualcomm is going finishing the support for it because successor of the kitkat would be 64 bit so it will be a good excuse to just abandon devices business is business

the Z was the first proper flagship phone from Sony. Waterproof features and all.
It was the first and there were many lessons learnt from it. ie: flaps, display, bezel etc etc
Thus, come the Z1 which address the issues above (earphones without flaps, magnetic cable charging without opening flap, etc)
Hence, I would think the changes to the new phone itself would be marginal. be it Z2 or Z3 etc.
Even in the looks dept, there wouldnt be much difference because Sony is taking the Omnidesign as the core
The difference would be in the hardware spec IMO
But I seriously hope the camera would be improved cos we have the hardware for it.
I'm still hoping there will be Red for the new phone. I would move if there's Red. if not I might think twice about "upgrading" from Z to Z2

Which device are you coming from? Share your experience!

So I'm still waiting for my ZUK to arrive! It's taking forever!
I bought from AliExpress and shipped via regular post.
I currently have the note 4 so as you can guess, it may not be a very wise switch. But I was very impressed with the phone and ordered it as a birthday gift to myself!
I will be comparing them thoroughly!
So which device are you coming from? Share your experience and feel free to compare them pointing out in what areas you feel it's an upgrade and where it's a downgrade!
I am comming from an iphone 4S and I am not sure if I shall keep the device or send it back. Compared to the iphone 4s the screen and performance of the Z1 are magnificient. The camera is a little bit worse, but this does not bother me.
But what bothers me is the general network and talk quality. At my place the device is constantly switching across three different cell ids (once lte, once 3g, once edge). When I hold it on top on the upper side in my hand it looses network connectivity completely (similar to the death grip on the iphone 4). During calls there is always some noise behind - the person I am talking with reports noise and I am hearing noise when the person is talking to me (also after the latest updates). Unfortunately in the usual reviews there is nothing mentioned about this ...
What do others think - are you happy with the network and talk quality?
Note 4 and Redmi Note 2. Battery and CM destroy both

Well i have an Xiaomi Mi4 too, which is also a great devices and it supports inbuilt root on the developer roms without the need to patch something.
I would have prolly stayed with it to be fair, but it had a hardware defect so i bought something that is available in europe without importing.
I have to say i like the ZUK Z1 with the dual sim and big battery as i travel a lot it´s a great advantage for me.
Let´s just hope Cyanogen fixes all the little bugs and problems and gives us inbuilt root too, then it would be near perfect.
I also have an iphone 4S, but it´s too old and too small and a samsung galaxy s4 mini which is far too slow which a far too little battery and screen size.
For me a big battery is king, the Mi4 also have a 3000 mha battery but the ZUK even tops them.
But theres one thing i have to say, i miss some cool featurs CMIUI the xiaomi android fork has!
1) root inbuilt with permission managment, no need for supersu.
2) battery saver with different profiles and ram freeing etc.
3) edgetap for wakeup
4) a superb camera with a great camera stock app
5) File based OTA updates, even after installing Xposed etc and modding the system you can still just OTA upgrade
6) WEEKLY! Developer rom OTA upgrade
I come from Asus Zenfone 2 4GB, which is worst for:
- too much battery drain (maybe because android os in still 5.0), so I had to recharge before evening
- poor display (the sensor simply doesn't work)
while it has NFC and LTE band 20 (800).
I had Huawei Mate 7.
Nice phone, but the screen developed some white spots, the speaker is bad, ui not good either. Very slow updates.
I also owned 3 Oneplus Ones. All had issues :|
I really like the ZUK. Very smooth, the battery life is crazy good, the screen is beautiful, audio through speaker and headphone jack good, well as you know.
The only bad thing about it is the camera, but it's fixable.
I've sold my OPO today and bought the zuk... It will arrive next week. I hope I don't regret my decision...

I come from OnePlus One which is also a good mobile phone and I think ZUK Z1 is a little better than it as a whole.
I am coming from a Nexus 5 wich starting to fall apart and had pretty bad battery life even on marshmallow.
My zuk z1 arrived this Thursday, unfortunately my Sim didn't fit and I had to order a new one which arrived today. So far I am pretty satisfied with it, the screen is good battery life is pretty good so far as I had the time to play with it. I charged it till 80% on Thursday around 19:00 at the moment I have 7% left with a sot of 5 hours.
I am coming from a Nexus 4 wich is still very good phone, but zuk z1 is amazing
I also greeted my ze551ml!
I'm coming from Lenovo P780, that have in common the monster battery of 4000mah.
On my P780, with a Russian custom ROM I was able to reach 2 days.
Unlucky with this device I barely reach evening.
I'll try tu use with a single sim and see if the situation will increase
Inviato dal mio Z1 utilizzando Tapatalk
I had a Nexus 6 which i smashed. I loved that phone but thought I would get something slightly smaller this time and wanted the fingerprint sensor so the ZUK seemed like a good buy. It's a nice phone but a shame the fingerprint setup is not working properly
From a Oneplus 2.. Sick of battery life and having to use either OxygenOS (why not just use AOSP? Seriously..) or use a ROM I actually like, such as Exodus but then I lose fingerprint functionality.
Much rather the Zuk Z1 with a solid SoC and has a massive battery life, and all the features of the Oneplus 2 but with a good ROM as stock.
I'm very fussy with my phones.
Pleased. I previously owned these phones: BlackBerry 9720, LG Nexus 4, Moto X 1st gen (2013, ghost), and Sony Xperia M2 (D2303). And currently own one Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact (scorpion_windy). My Zuk Z1 brings stellar battery life (1.5 days), CyanogenOS is decent as compared to CyanogenMod (5 incremental updates within a month, no critical bugs or malfunctions). If you can live without LTE/4G band 20 (800mhz), a mediocre camera (pixelated photo, particularly in low light) as well as without NFC support then I do not see any major showstopper. There is no microsd card reader but 64gb storage is more than sufficient for a phone. The Snapdragon 801 CPU is blazzing fast (no stuttering/freeze) but does not support 64-bit instructions (it might not be future proof although I highly doubt it). 3gb of RAM is generous enough for all Android use. The 1080p (IPS?) display is nice although it does not match the Sony Triluminos (Z3TC). Bluetooth works out of the box without issues (as opposed to the stuttering Z3TC scorpion_windy)
Minor issues: the hotspot function (4G to WiFi) sometimes drops (not as stable as a Huawei 5776s-32 mobile WiFi hotspot), the default system font is not fully UTF-8 compliant (causes display issues related to French characters such as ç, é, è ê), does not come with an autoscreen off function when the lid case closes (at least I did not find this option) but such a gap may be closed using a 3rd party app.
No issue with the WiFi component (fast and stable), excellent 4G signal (note my provider does not make use of the 800Mhz band), no much bloatware (not loaded into memory at startup, no Microsoft application such as Cortana or Outlook)
Running CyanogenOS 12.1-YOG4PAS3AJ including Android (5.1.1) patch level 2015-11-01 on 2015-11-03.
coming from a elephone p7000 and previously samsung note 3..
have ma phone for 5 days now and its all smiles...
audio is top notch through both headphone and loud speakers..
os is very satisfying , the numbers of update is great and improvements are noticeable.
battery life is 10/10.......easily 8 hrs on screen time ..............
everyone was complaining about the camera but the updates seem to help..if not just use fv-5v camera app...
only thing i miss a the finger print app lock to lock my apps that was on the p7000.
my personal score 9.5/10 ...........paid 299.00 and very satisfied
Comming from a OnePlus One.
I'm happy with it.
Comming from LG G2. I was looking for another phone with decent battery life.
I resigned from oneplus two invitation and choose ZUK.
Till now I' very pleased with this choice, battery is amaizing, phone works flawlessly. Good choice.

Whats your next phone after a broken Z1?

Hey guys,
as my homebutton seems to break because sometimes it doesnt recognize my press im already looking for a successor. because i bought it over amazon im lucky if the device has a fault.
in germany there are quite often good deals for a import of the xiaomi redmi note 3 pro for about 165 euro ... despite the lack of usb type c this phone seems pretty good and its very cheap.
so... whats your next phone when the z1 is broken?
The note 3 looks like a major downgrade from the z1 in my opinion. And I plan on moving up if anything happens, to get the zuk z2, it seems to have amazing specs at an unbeatable price from what I've read. So I'll wait for the international version.
note that i ment the note 3 pro ... the only downgrade i see is:
micro usb against usb type c
32gb against 64gb internal
will never buy a ZUK again ... yeah, the z2 might have great specs but the z1 has great specs too. but quality issues and missing pressure against cyanogen or own software ZUI support is a big flaw..

Well the way I see it, Redmi Note 3 Pro's custom roms and developer support are way less than Z1. At least Z1 has an almost fully functional CM13. Also, SD 801 is a beast and is definitely faster than SD 650 on Note 3 Pro.
Also, MIUI is a major drawback for me. Personally, I would go for something like Nexus 6P after Z1
Of course my ZUK Z1 also broke. Homebutton and Fingerprint stopped working. As i bought it with Amazon.de they gave me my money back.
I got a Huawei Mate 8 with 64gb and 4gb ram, it was like double the price but it just WORKS. Everything WORKS without issues, it´s 6 inches but still not bigger than the Z1 and it has Band20 support, awesome fingerprint etc... root is no issue. The battery is as big and it has proper dual sim support and a microsd slot in case i ever need to move files via sd card...
The only downside is no custom rom support, but that doesn´t matter for me anymore, it just want an awesome working phone which i now got.
It was my first and last zuk device, thats definately...
I change my mind... My z1 was just stolen and i just received an email saying the oneplus 3 is out for sale. The universe is telling me i need to get the oneplus 3 now.

Yeah... I almost bought zuk z1 again for the battery actually. I am really worried about the battery but the specs are amazing at that price and no other phone with 3500+ mah battery has the specs I want for the price I want. This will be my first phone with less than 4000 mah battery in years but I think the sacrifice may be worth it. YoolaCro, you seem to love battery as much as me so if you find alternatives I'd be happy to consider them, not buying OP3 for at least another week if nothing pops up

My girlfriend has Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro. It's really good if you're ok with kind of locked software. I mean it's fairly regurarly updated but it'd kind of hassle if you want to flash things...
And me personally... I'd go for a ZUK Z2 because for 3500mAh on 5'' screen will last same as 4000 on 5,5'' . And price is really affordable for that kind of device. I mean Snapdragon 820 for less than a 300$ is insane.

That's true, my top choice for phone is actually the zuk z2 and I was planning on buying it before my phone got stolen. It has amazing specs, better than OP3 in my opinion, at almost $150 cheaper. Unfortunately I need a phone ASAP because of keeping track with my job and life, currently using an old iphone 3 lol.... And redmi note 3 just doesn't appeal to me, plus i wouldn't survive with the more locked software.
I can't wait around for zuk to roll these out internationally since i need a phone now, which may take some time since the english official zuk website is not even displaying the zuk z2 yet unfortunately.
Edit:
Actually, I will order OP3 this weekend, and I will have 15 days from the day it arrives to return it, so if the Z2 is out in the next 2 weeks I will return my OP3 for it. I think that's a good plan.
I read all your discussion about redmi note 3 pro and Zuk Z1. Now i am also decided to wait for ZUK Z2. Zuk Z2 is on the site. please check.

Probably a Z5 compact. The Z5 is cheaper but has the same spec as the X.
Sony have the market on small top spec phones. I like a small phone in my hand, not some massive phablet.
Plus it's waterproof and has all the features. Top audio, noise reduction technologies built in. IPS screen, there aren't any other manufacturers that come close.
But it won't be for another year, hopefully by then there will be some development on it and things like rooting will be easy.

Yeah unfortunately support on xda is virtually non existent for the z5 (compact). And I do not think it will surge eventually, then it would have happened already. It is also the main reason why I didn't switch earlier. But yeah.. Xda support is really important for me since I like to tweak certain aspects
I am going with the Huawei P9 Plus. It will be a step up from the z3c in a few areas. First off, the P9 has 4gb of ram, so multitasking is easier, and the chipset is a solid foundation as well. The z3c has a higher megapixel camera 20mp vs the 12mp P9 Plus. The P9 Plus is almost an inch bigger in size 4.6 vs 5.5 but I still think that it does not qualify as ( as Didgesteve called it ) a phablet.
Nokia's (the Finnish company) non compete clause expires next month, so in 8 days I believe, I'm waiting to see what they bring to market - I bet it'll be good - they've had years to prepare.
A Galaxy Note 6/7 or a Nexus phone. My biggest priorities are vanilla, lag free, good battery and waterproof. If google makes a nice Nexus that's waterproof and has good battery, lag and vanilla are given. For the Note, I'm not so sure about the UI. But my Z3C has become laggy as of late, even with a factory reset. Constantly at 1.6-1.9 gb memory usage.

I ways also looking forward to this. But that video showing that it breaks easily scared me off. The camera is also underwhelming.
I like specs from oneplus 3, but it is just too damn big.
Much as i like the z3c for it's size and specs, my next phone will most likely be a nexus.
While Sony's firmware isn't bad i do miss the variety of 3rd party, AOSP based roms, something that a nexus won't lack thanks to the open bootloader and abundance of developers.
For now, until we know anything about the next Nexus devices, i just hope the PA team will manage to resolve some of the more pressing bugs, a daily-driver aosp MM rom might just keep me around for a bit longer.
Definitely not a Xperia!!
i switched from z3 compact to iphone SE
I went from a HTC Desire to a HTC Sensation, then a Xperia ZR and I have enjoyed my Z3 Compact since October, 2014. I wanted a new Xperia for the summer of 2016, something like the Z6 Compact but the new Xperia X series is not what I wanted.
The only Xperia X I wanted is the X Performance but it has failed to pique my interest. Battery tests look underwhelming compared to the Z3C, the camera isn't up to the other flagships and the price is too high for a smartphone that wont' be released in Europe until July.
So I have jumped ship and went to buy an S7 Edge that features great battery, screen, camera, waterproofing and Material themes so TouchWiz isn't annoying. Maybe the screen is too big at 5.5", but the AMOLED readability in summer is top-notch and the pictures and videos taken are miles better than any other phone camera I tried.
The S7 Edge was 570 euro including the Samsung VR glasses (thanks to Vodafone). The Xperia X Performance hasn't been released yet, but I expect it to cost around 630-650 euro.
Sony has failed me first choosing the SD 810 for the Z5 line and now leaving the Z series aside (Z6 Compact, Z6 and Z6 Premium was what I wanted).
I may return to Sony when they offer something that fills the void of the Z series, not right now with overpriced phones that are released too late.
I get my Nexus 5X tomorrow! YAY! Not the newest device, but almost anything seems to be better to me than any Xperia. I really like the Nexus line. If I hadn't been that misinformed by Sony about being open blabla I would have bought a Nexus instead of an Xperia. Actually using a Z3C, going to sell it as soon as I was finally able to recover DRM with Windows 10 or Linux (Arch). So my Nexus 5X will cost me about 100 Euro. Nice price for a quite decent upgrade of camera and processor (Snapdragon 801 --> Snapdragon 808) and for a device I can fully customize and which got amazing support in FOSS community / XDA.
I think smartphones today are really fast (more than 200 (!!) times faster than my first PC., an Intel 80386. Imagine 200 PCs in your room, haha) and it's not top priority for me to have the fastest device in the whole universe. What counts for me is that the device is fast enough to be ready for daily usage, that I can modify my device to my needs without losing any feature (camera quality, sound quality), not the needs a company wants me to have... and to have a good camera (battery of the Nexus 5X is not the best but acceptable). At first I was quite satisfied with my Z3C but that slowly turned into frustration and anger. It took months to root this unholy device without losing DRM forever (thank God for the dev that finally got it!). Afterwards it was a pain in the ass to do such simple things like rooting it, install recovery (compared to my S3 and Nexus 7; atm trying to recover my DRM for selling this crappy device but ADB won't call SuperSU - wtf?!)... then saw how "good" the open-source output of the so-called developer-friendly company was and I was massively disappointed, to say it in very kind words. Still there is no fully working (--> fisheye) AOSP for Z3 series. Lollipop got fisheye, CM13 for MM is not available yet (LOL?! The only manufacturer left... what a shame) because Sony released first MM working stuff (RIL, camera) in May 2016 afaik) - more than half a year after release of MM. That's what I call developer-friendly... lol. I never gonna buy any Xperia anymore, never in a million years, that's for sure, and try to avoid buying anything made by Sony in general.
Now I'm very glad to get a Nexus (I'm still very satisfied with my Nexus 7 2013 already) because the needs of the user and customizability are top priority and it has a very good cam, which won't produce (reverse) fisheye-pictures when unlocked. I won't need to use stock ROM for this device to be fully working, nor a locked BL and a thousand hacks for stock to be comfortable with (still no dark settings for MM stock, only eye-killing whiteness). Feels like not being in bonds any more...
My brother and my sister-in-law both got the same device (Z3C stock, not rooted) and are very satisfied (for whatever reason... camera on stock with DRM is even worse than on my old Galaxy S3)... so, well. For everyone who still likes Xperia, I wish you the best with that, honestly.
Good riddance, Sony...
is there any phone out there with similar dimensions to the z3 compact? i would like waterproofing as well, but not sure what's out there these days. i have to admit i love the concept rom

I know a lot of ppl that had made that switch and was satisfied about it
I'm looking for the best smartphone that does not tells itself that the system was been tampered if i root and modify something (Like KNOX or HTC do tell it), because if i want to bring my warranty back, i simply re-flash the firmware and it become unrooted.
No idea. I will be sticking with my Z3c for the foreseeable future.
I recently purchased a Galaxy s6 and was missing my Z3c within a few days. I have also recently used the LG G4 and Nexus 5x. All of these feel like a step down. The Z3c with the MM Slim rom is so fast and fluid and the battery life is ridiculous. The galaxy S6 could kill itself in 12 hours with almost no interaction. Also, it is hard to go back to a phone as large as those. Once you put a case on them, you may as well be using a tablet.
I would go for OnePlus 3 right now, but it's huge, i just don't get the hype for 5.5" screen, that requires your device body to have more than 15cm in size. All of a sudden 5" was not enough so they all had to go for more, not to mention big bezels on top and bottom of the screen even on those 5-5.2" devices.

Z3 Force is coming tomorrow

Guys, the Z3 Force is coming tomorrow :victory: and will be available for purchase sometime in September. It will probably feature a curved ShatterShield screen, face unlock, 3 cameras on the back like the attached render (all leaked renders were true), Snapdragon 845 processor, 6/64GB and maybe 8/128 storage, no front facing LED flash for some reason. Moto will also show a 5G Moto Mod with a built in power pack (hopefully).
Who is buying it? I'm getting one for sure.
I found a couple of hint links but none of them show any pictures:

I'm really hyped because everyone was saying no Force Edition this year.
The one they announced today doesn't seem to be the flagship. Hopefully we get the true Moto Z3 Force flagship at IFA at the end of the month. Impressive that they managed to keep all the leaks away. It caught everyone by surprise.

Nope. No Z3 Force, at all. (As a new user, can't post a link - here's the tweet: twitter.com/MotorolaUS/status/1025121824550662149)
Disappointing to see a company that comes up with so many cool ideas make so many bad choices.

Wtf. That is really stupid. We are stuck with the european Z² Force as a flagship then (it has 6GB of RAM). It runs really well but everyone was expecting more from them this year...
Seems that the Z³ is the Z³ Play for Verizon. It's identical.

Just checked the specs on analysis for the z3 (not force) and is it really worth getting you might as well stick with the z2 force same specks as ours bet they've just used old z2 force parts. I'm pretty sure you guys will get that 5g mod working to

So it's just a US Z2 Force with the same processor and camera in a Z3 Play body.
That is really stupid.
Thing is, they said in a interview that the 5G moto mod is not the last one and they will continue with the mods. WTF.
Maybe the community manager from Twitter mistaken and there will be another one this year?
I mean seriously, they are making such a big thing in their presentation that 50% of the Moto Z owners have a mod too, so how can such a big company miss the opportunity to make loads of $$$$$$ because everyone using the first gen skipped the second gen to buy the third gen Moto Z (and they made it Verizon exclusive and not available outside US) + the ones using the second gen wanting the latest and greatest with better specs so they can keep using the mods they invested in for 2 more years. Z3 Force would have been a TOP seller.
Hey, since it releases with 8.1, that means it has a vendor partition. This means we can use those blobs to easily port over treble since hardware is near identical. Our treble beta builds in discord have a few quirks but those blobs would make it have near zero issues besides audio hal for motomods due to the way it routes to the ROM.

Yeah, maybe even port the entire Android 10 ROM when Moto stops supporting the Z2 Force and the other one recieves the update.
So no flagship this year my friends. The global Z2 Force is the more powerful device still with 6GB ram. Now we only need a fully working Google Camera and that would be awesome. Anyone willing to donate some $ to a developer so they can make a proper port? I'm willing to do so.
So I got the z3. It really makes my z2 look horrible.lol
I'm really happy with it.(sold my note 8 to get it)
Also I love were the new fingerprint sensor is for what it's worth.

Does it support Daydream by Google? Can you try to download it from the Play Store and tell us if it works?

Yes, but we can't get it in europe, right? Very sad.
I have never used daydream. I dont have a vr headset to test it with
If the specs are not that much different, then why buy one.. It has 3 cameras, and 5G which is not full out yet... Seems like a waste to me..
Basically the same specs as a 1000$ device...my note 8 only had 6 gbs of ram because it wouldn't accomplish anything with the 4.
Maybe I was just unhappy with my note 8 after not being able to even put a good screen protector on it....
I just see a lot of bad hype online from people who probably don't even have/use mods or are not invested in Moto mods.
If you loved the z2 than you are definitely going to love the z3. The new exterior is awesome.

Super, that means the Z3 is compatible with Daydream even with it's lower resolution screen!
Thanks!

That's crazy. Why do the Z3 have just full HD? No go today. I watch Netflix on it and by Full HD I can see all the pixels. So quad HD is needed. I watch movies im a distance of less centimeter. But quad HD is really ok, 4k, the better resolution, is not needed. Around 500-600dpi and I'm happy
Do the comprising I will stick with the Z2 for what I do.. In 6 months, people will be saying O my god, they are coming out with a z4 and it is so much better than the z3 or z2 was... If that is your thing, so be it. You will make the manufacture very happy with your wallet. LOL
