Installing Android Custom ROMs - Windows Phone 8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I wanted to ask if it is possible to flash custom android ROMs in nokia lumia 625, becuase I saw android-marshmallow60.net/tutorial/upgrade-update-nokia-lumia-625/ to be showing to install Android 6.0 on nokia phone and fullandroid.org/nokia-lumia-625/ to be showing screenshot of working andoid ROMs. Please guide me the steps to install custom Android ROMs.

What you see was spam for sure.

Is it not possible ?

Android requires a compatible bootloader like LK (which has to be programmed from scratch and the kernel, device configurations and proprietary blobs (which be ported from another device)

Yes - someone would have to do lots of work, especially on drivers. Never said it was easy but it has already been done for mac's with hackintosh, so it's not impossible.

Windows Phone Internals 2.3 is released, now it is possible to install any custom rom on any lumia phone so very soon android roms will be available. Good luck.

If MIUI can do It..why can't we ?

If MIUI can let the users load a Windows Phone OS on their device, since it is a forked Android OS..why can't we do it too on our Xperias and HTCs...can't we learn something from it? I am still dying to load it on my Lenovo K900 ...

Custom ROMs and P9

Hi,
The P9 has been one of the phones I've been watching, given its excellent specs and reasonable price.
It's a very popular phone and has had the option of rooting and unlocked bootloader for about 2 months now ... but there's apparently next to no development. The only custom ROM out there (here or elsewhere) appears to be a deodexed version of the original. Not even an unofficial CM.
Is anyone working on them, or are lack of sources from HUAWEI (and the Kirin chipset) the issue here?
Thanks.
(P.S. I'm unable to use a phone with Google Play / Apps).
Im also waiting for the custom ROMs!!
Exists one rom... http://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/development/rom-huawei-p9-fromfuture-newworld-t3390820 but... what do you miss in the stock rom?

the nokia 1 supports project treble!

Just thought I'll be curious and see if my Nokia 1 supported project treble and to my amazement it does
Would this mean the phone would get Android pie?

Actually it has got!!
the treble pie roms can be installed on Nokia 1. Its bootable. the only problem is the RIL(incoming calls are not notified) on nokia 1 (being a a mediatek SoC)is buggy so cannot be used as a daily driver as of now. If calling can be made perfect i think pie can be used on nokia 1.

Cant say. Maybe yes in future once treble gsi becomes stable. But as of now gsi roms work on nokia 1.
I came looking for gsi because i face background app crashes on nokia 1, infact many ppl do. There is a discussion even on xda. Its like you open any app, put that in background and after few minutes it exits from memory and you get no notifications from that app.
Can i know your nokia 1 model and build number?

Thanks for creating the topic here. I also tried to create on here https://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-1/help/treble-experiment-t3836805 with not so much success...
I did not expect the Nokia 1 to be fully compatible with Treble. Other Nokia phones seems have the setting set to no. However, it seems in does (does that setting prevent to push manually GSI images, or simply means that the phone won't be updated by treble ?)
This is for me really interesting, as it means that the Nokia 1 should get alternative ROM support, soon or later. A Couple of links :

I would be really interested to see results of tests for Lineage, AOSP or other alternative ROMs GSI (even just for Oreo 8.1). The only one i found https://github.com/phhusson/treble_experimentations/wiki/Nokia-1 is a bit incomplete (for example doesnt say wich GSI is used). That device would be amazing if for example lineage could run on it (small, cheap, changeable battery, and with lineage a gapps free android )

Well, I have tried LOS , RR oreo 8.1 GSI images and also the latest pie GSi images by phhusson. All of them boot and work as intended with mentioned bugs. But the one thing that stops from makin it a daily driver is incoming calling. The phone doesnt notifies you of incoming calls. So its a big no as of now.
This needs device specific mods. Maybe phhusson can check this in future builds if he is aware of exact cause.
To be honest, i tried gsi images just coz nokia 1 stock rom has app crashes. It doesnt keeps even a single app in background and makes it useless. And this issue is in some other models too. Its a bug from nokia side and users hv reported in nokia forums too. But nokia is deaf to budget phones. Every month a new update but same issue.

You must be so brave, modding your phone with the warrenty, I'm my opinion I would wait till android 9.0 hits my phone as an update (If HMD decides to do it!)

I think for incoming calling you have to set phone app as default and it should work fine also there's a lineage 15.1 go edition by phhusson

There also seems to be recent (9/2018) changes, related to how the call is handled on MTK devices (https://forum.xda-developers.com/pr...-development/experimental-phh-treble-t3709659)

v25 (2018-09-07)

And people seems to have confirmed it works https://github.com/phhusson/treble_experimentations/wiki/Nokia-1
Might have to give that a whirl but would prefer if there was updated GO gsi with the latest fix as it will be more beneficial for the Nokia 1
So guys, I bet everyone remembers the legendary HTC HD2 which ran a lot of android updates and other OS (IIRC, It came as Windows OOB),
Could Nokia 1 be something comparable, as a treble device?
Also, has anyone tried the GSI roms? I seem to get stuck on the boot screen.

Process:
Unzip the stock ROM
Open the flash tool
Select the nb0 ROM
Restart the phone in fastboot mode (adb reboot bootloader)
Connect the phone to the USB cable and the PC

After flashing and restarting, it will ask for decryption password.

Do incoming calls work?
I want to install GSI image on my Nokia 1 . My model is TA-1066 with build number 00WW_2_200_SP05. I don't care to get Android 8.1 Oreo version or 9 Pie. I want device to work good and currently on stock 9 Pie it has lot of bugs.
Which version of GSI by phhusson works flawlessly with incoming calls? Is it 8.1 v32?
Also does build number or model matters while installing GSI?

Run Old Android Versions on Santoni

Stupid question, but what are the odds of booting up and running old android versions(4.4-6.0.1) on our device?
So you might ask, why did this come into my mind? Not much really, I want to run old games, games that don't work on Android Nougat and above.
So edit 1: a quick Google search revealed a MIUi rom based on Android Version 6.0.1 is actually available for santoni. New question is, will I be able to dual boot a Oreo rom (as primary) and the aforementioned ROM above this question? If I'm not mistaken MIUi uses a different file format for system compared to other ROMS is that correct?

Is it possible to install two roms in the Xiaomi Mi A2?

TL;DR: I wanted to install an Android 9 Rom on my phone alongside the stock Android 10 Rom in order to use GLTools.
So, the question is basically on the title. But the reason that I want to install two Roms on my phone is GLTools. Since GLTools' developer didn't release an Android 10 compatible version of his app while it was under development, Thus can't use it, since my phone is on the latest firmware. Now, I mainly wanted to play Fortnite on my phone (Please don't judge me?). I'm open to other solutions tho, like any GLTools alternative compatible with Android 10. (Ps. Phone is rooted with Magisk)
AFAIK, Dual boot custom ROMs were possible on some devices but that was before introduction of SAR A/B Devices. While theoretically, newer devices have separate A/B partitions and hence could have separate ROMs I believe it is an issue of shared libraries/partitions being used by the device which might mess up things.
But then I am neither a developer nor a gamer so the entire theory could be wrong !
