Screen remplacement recommandations ? - Moto G 2015 Accessories

Hello everyone !
I just broke my moto g 3 screen and I am looking for a remplacement (touch is still working).
It's the first time I am trying to remplace a screen myself. I am guessing they are some bad product out there and I don't want to be fooled.
Does someone have a good website to buy parts from in europe (France) or already experienced a screen remplacement for this phone and have a known good product to show me ?

Only use a stock Moto screen, do not use a 3rd party one... Most aftermarket ones will bootloop on stock Marshmallow, no way around it that we know of yet
Sent from my MotoG3 using Tapatalk

Oh.. That's odd thank you for the info !
I am running cyanogen's latest nightly. Does it bootloop in this case too ?

I honestly have no idea... I know that with a stock Marshmallow ROM it will bootloop, I can't answer if it does it on CM or not.

Background lighting defect after rom update

Hello Community,
I have actually just a short question. I have got an offering for touch HD for only 150€. The owner says the functionality is still given but after a ROM Update the background keeps black so it seems the lighting broke after the ROM update. However what I would like to know is, if this can happen and if there is any chance to get that fixed with less effort.
Or is this just a bad try of the seller to get my money
Thx for your help
Iv never hued of this happening, but i could be rong
i would put it down to the seller just trying to get money and the blacklight was broken in some way

ROM update shouldn't cause this, sounds more like a digitizer/main board issue.

(Q) Dead touches

hey guys a quick question for you. I bought an OB for my gf as a gift for christmass. I get dead touches sometimes and it caught my eye sometime ago that some users experienced similar probs. Is it hardware or crappy software on part of lg? and if it is sw can any version fix this? I updated phone to v10g and still same problem. maybe some other version or any custom rom? Other than that phone is pretty decent and the screen compared to my o3d rocks. Any help would be welcome. And merry christmass to all. sry for my bad english
If it's a hardware issue with capacitive panel, no upgrade will fix it.
And about the ROM, we have Cyanogenmod nightlies as the best available option. ( Try installing CM7, if you think your touch button problem is s/w related)
Dead touches? What are those? Care to elaborate? Thanks!
dead touches is a problem of LGmail. if this app not in memory - we have dead touches. start LGmail and quit

so are you suggesting i send it back as D.O.A and have ot replaced? I mean is it just my bad luck or is it a general problem with all OBs?

[Q] Screen problems

Hello everyone.
I have an S3 mini and screen has been changed under warranty. The screen started to not respond to touch and only restarting the phone to get it working again.
But the screen is already with the same problem and this time is even worse. The problem remains on screens or it can be a problem on board or something like that?
Does anyone has this problem?
Thanks in advance.

Looking to buy Mi 5; couple questions

Hello. I'm looking to buy a Mi 5 and would like to ask some questions before I take the leap.
1. How is the bootloader unlock procedure? Is it known to be problematic or causing any issues with ultimately not being able to unlock the bootloader?
2. Watching reviews I've noticed a huge black gap in between the bezel and the actual screen (I'm talking about this). Does it really look like that or is that a MIUI-only thing?
3. What webshops would you recommend considering I'm from Europe (Croatia)? Which of them are the best overall?
Thanks in advance.
1. Its not easy, bit if you follow the guides on the miui forum, you will be fine. Just prepare yourself and read a lot. And be prepared for the supplier custom rom.
2. Yes there is a black gap.
3. I bought mine at geekbuying. Not sure about the others, but banggood and gearbest are good also. Check this one https://www.kimovil.com/en/where-to-buy-xiaomi-mi5-64gb

Thanks for the answer.
1. "And be prepared for the supplier custom rom". What exactly do you mean by "supplier custom rom"?
Regarding custom ROMs, do they all support all of the editions (Standard, Prime & Pro) perfectly?
As for the black gap you may check out the black variant.

For the custom roms you have to look at that specific thread.
Supplier or better vendor rom

In what way should I be "prepared"? Did you mean: just to know that I might have that rom installed (which is easily fixable with the link you sent)?
The black bezel is around 1mm,its not a problem and if you buy white phone(64 gb cost as much as black 32gb one)and some black case, you wont notice it that much, bootloader unlock is easy just fallow the steps, I received the unlock permission in around 3 days, plus there are a lot custom Roms,i bought mine from AliExpress for 250 eur 64gb white around 4 months(deam, time flies ) and so far no problems, I recommend it,but it's your your choice

Yes and read it. It might be easy, but in my case it was difficult. In the end i got it working after many tries.

I never give them any thought. So my answer would be no. It's usually adequately bright.
Regarding the other questions:
Unlocking and flashing another rom was easy for me. The only problem was waiting for the permission from xiaomi (3 days) and then wasting a whole day trying to figure out why the pc wouldn't recognize my phone and realizing it was the cable. After that, I had lineage OS running in minutes.
The black edge is there for any rom. Honestly, I think you're gonna learn to ignore it the same way we ignore ads on a website.
---------- Post added at 12:55 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:53 AM ----------
Also, I got it from Gearbest. They take their time but it's overall a good service. Even got a refund for the malfunctioning cable I mentioned before. The phone was constantly under heavy discounts and I got it for relatively cheap.
Considering your points I would say, Yes it's a bit tough to get the boot loader unlocked. Again it's not tough too. You just need to apply for unlocking. Then they will reply you in 3-7 days. ( For me it took 4 days) then it's easy.
You just need to be in beta/developer rom. D O N E
Yes there's a black gap. As I'm using the white variant I know it well. But trust me it doesn't look cheap.
As I'm from Asia so I can suggest you any online shop. But you can Aliexpress.
( Few extra words. If you're a camera freak and tale much photo on low light then maybe it's not for you. It's good but not that good.)
I want buy this device too!
But I want stay at android 6.0.1 for xposed...
What is last miui marshmellows version?
Maybe a link for download?
Thanks!

Yeah they are bright, you can clearly see them even on bright day,but they wont mind you at night as well as i think they adjust the brightness according to the screen, well i think so maybe not,but they are not that bright at night to mind you when you use the phone.

Yop,
1. Very easy. There are a lot of topics to guide you.
2. Yes there some "black margin"
3. I live in France so I use Phonedroid but I think it's just for french resident and it's more expensive (due to the french VAT) but for us it's more easy to contact them if we have some problem.
Sorry for my english !

Black Screen of Death BSOD

Announcement: Maybe we are close to a software solution
Dear Friends,
my HM2014813 has several problems:
On some AOSP roms I get BSOD: When screen gets locked and black, I can't turn it on unless I remove and reinsert battery.
On LineageOS PowerOFF does not work properly. Ends in a situation like BSOD
After booting into TWRP the touchscreen is unresponsive. I have to lock and unlock, to get response.
I think I'm not alone with this problem. Most of us get recommendations like that: Replace Screen
This problem is not present in every rom. So there should be a solution without hardware modification. What else can we try?
For reference here are the HM codes: source
Redmi 2 1/8GB & 2/16GB/Prime = HM2014811 / 17/18/21 (wt88047)
Redmi 2 A / Enhanced = HM2014812 / 13/16 (wt86047)
Redmi 2 Pro = HM2014819
Before I continue, I'd like to remind you that Redmi 2A is a china-only phone, the chipset isn't Qualcomm based, but Leadcore based. My fellow friends that I know that have a WT86047 aren't Redmi 2A's. They're running Qcom and have no signal loss in my country.
I picked WT88047, but honestly I've seen them in all of those variants (except Redmi 2A variants). I have 4 friends that bought 2016's batch of shipped RM2 (Prime or just RM 2). These friends of mine didn't buy at the same place, 2 of them bought it online and the 2 others bought it from a local vendor (not an official Xiaomi store). From those 4 friends of mine, 2 of my friends got the HM2014813 (WT86047), one got HM2014818 (WT88047) and the last one got a HM2014811 which is the same as mine.
All of them (including me) faced the same bugs (BSOD, screen freezing, TWRP not working). So it's not just a specific variant of RM2, but all of them. Hypothetically (CMIIW) all RM2's that are shipped at 2016 above nearly all of them have this bug (unless you bought it from an official Xiaomi store, which is pretty much hard to find, because Xiaomi don't show, even sell, old phones). 2 of my friends sold their devices, one friend of mine sticked it with it's current case and stayed on stock MIUI & my last friend (with the HM2014813 - WT86047) followed my lead by changing his screen with an official screen that he got from a relative that has an unused RM2, bought from an official vendor. Now me and him can go custom rom or modding all we want without those old bugs that used to plague our phones.
So to the RM2's batch 2016 are all shipped with bad and faulty hardware parts. Mostly nearly of them are faulty sensors. Or maybe those RM2's that are shipped are refurbished RM2's that are given bad parts or maybe bad LCD screens. Like I said before in my previous posts about this, It's the sensors. They are totally bugged. I don't know what made them that way. Why I said it was the sensors? Because my old front sensors got changed when I checked it with a system specs app. My local part vendors sell RM2 LCD's and when you buy a LCD, it's a whole package, you can't by per-parts (unless you disassemble them one buy one). What I mean "it's a whole package" is if you buy an LCD, you will get the touchscreen and front sensors with it. If it's not the sensors, maybe it's the touchscreen (just using my logic here)
I don't know about fixes and stuff (without having to do hardware modif). I'm not a developer, I don't understand that much about BLOBs and shims. Well let's hope someone who's a developer and has a RM2 with those bugs show up with a fix so that people don't have to do any hardware modifications on their bugged RM2's.
Miui stable and best.
All custom roms have good interface but music enchancher , camera not satisfied in custom roms.

Well custom roms are for modification, so If you're not impressed with how the music sounds like in custom roms, you could always just install a mod for it. There's Viper4Android, Dolby Digital Plus, AM3D Zirene, etc. Just find what you need, flash the mod per instructions you need and voila, you've got better music in you're custom rom. Installing these sound mods even work well in MIUI. You've got dozens of Camera apps that may (or maynot) go better on in custom roms than MIUI. Just saying though, if you love MIUI it's fine to stay on MIUI.
For those who has the same problem, try enabling portable hotspot. It solve the problem for me, but yes, it'll also drain your battery faster

I tried it once when my device was still having those bugs. It doesn't work. At all.
I had two redmi 2 online and both had the BSOD issue. It didn't matter which MIUI version it was on, it can still get triggered into the BSOD.
This is the procedure that triggers it.
1.Start an app that generates a lot of objects
2.Keep the device with the app until the back is warm/hot
3.Exit from the app or click home
4.Now quickly press the side power button to turn off screen
5.Redmi Black Screen and cut off from power even if you had music app on.
I have concluded that it might be a hardware issue since I had test another none online redmi 2 with these redmi 2 with the same MIUI version. What should triggered the same effect did not affect the none online redmi 2.
Perhaps using a soft lockscreen button might be able to avoid this issue.
Mine starts getting this problem after I changed the display (bought cheap from aliexpress). Never had a single problem before, while now miui is the only rom that works

There you go, another living proof that BSoD is because of a faulty display. Did you change it again? Or are you still using the cheap screen you bought from AliExpress?

Then you should thank the devs for pulling this one off. Either they've tweaked or fixed what created the bug or because Android Oreo doesn't communicate with device drivers the same way as it's predecessors. Thanks for testing Oreo and latest Lineage. I'll recommend these to my other pals that are still bugged with BSoD. Cheers :highfive:
