This is awesome to be honest , with that SOT on my s6 i would have less than 50% , next time please post the graph too it would be much appreciated , thanks

My first day spent on half the time WiFi and half the time on poor 3G.

Quite poor compared to the first guy's battery screen , i guess one of the causes is the second sim card being active too.

I'm not trying to break any records, nor do I have any big battery saving techniques in use (other than the dark theme). This is normal usage in my opinion. The dash charging is great though.. definitely a huge help with this phone.
My mobile signal is usually anywhere between 1 to 4 bars indoors. I may remove one of the sim cards as I have no real reason to use it - I just wanted to see how it worked in all honesty.

I never said we are looking for records or who will have the best battery life , we are just discussing how it behave and to compare with other users.

I managed to get another 45 minutes out of that this morning before going on charge at around 15%.

Not a problem. I think that while the capacity could have been bigger (also reducing the camera bump), the dash charge feature helps bring some juice to the phone quite quickly. I'm disappointed though that you can only use OnePlus hardware for it (so far).

Doing well so far...

Got some pretty nice battery life today, liking it so far!

Will the use of two Sim cards reduce the battery life?

Of course.

Dash charge... 0 - 88% in 38mins.

Just shy of 5hrs SoT. Mixture of gaming, FB stalking, whatsapp, WiFi and cellular, couple of calls and sms, Bluetooth on all day paired with car for about an hour. Not disappointed with that in the slightest.

This is so fast it let my S6 looks like it has "slow" charge

Agree with you on lower battery capacity and camera bump. But I think these shortcomings can be lived with.
Coming to the major disappointment its not just the oneplus hardware you will have to depend on for dash charging, we need the oneplus software too. They haven't released the libraries and source code for this. So custom roms will be missing this main feature.
Mt first day was disappointing with battery but now it's giving me approximately 1-2 days with 3+ hours SOT and regular usage

Stellar battery life when on a good connection.

We shall see how it does when I am at work with poor signal tomorrow

1) You really think the Shift needs one? Don't try the original EVO!
2) You really want your phone to be even thicker?
I am quite satisfied with the battery life. Actually very impressed. Consistently getting 16+ hours out of it. I'm usually a battery snob too. I guess to each it's own
I am satisfied enough with the allegedly 2000mAh battery I got on eBay. The nonobvious fact is that it charges much more completely when powered down. For various reasons, I don't want to leave the phone powered down all night, so I leave it plugged in but powered up. As soon as I wake up, I power it down and plug it back in, and it continues to trickle-charge for another 90 minutes, until I leave the house.
how much

I am curious about these batteries too. Mine is OK I get decent battery life but I am a very heavy phone user and I have to charge mine about mid day. It would be nice to get through the day without charging it.

Mind sharing your definition of heavy use? To eat the battery in half a day... WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, Consistent music or video use...?
I just ask because that's a pretty harsh battery cycle. On my heroc, cm6 would eat it. 8 hours tops... no matter what I did. Then AOSP would last 30.
With medium to heavy usage, I get no less than 18 hours. My longest cycle has been 61 hours.
WiFi running all day... at least an hour of Angry Birds. Some YouTube. Usually 50 - 100 sms/mms. 2 - 3 hrs talk time. Bout 10 received and sent emails on average as well.
Guess that is light use compared to some abusers.

I will say this, if you spend a lot of time in an area with low signal that will kill your battery quickly.
I work in the 9th circle of hell for cell signal and my battery dies much faster in the office than it does when I'm not in.

Agreed. I work on the inland waterways... sometimes lucky to get 1x for a couple hundred nautical miles (which can be a few days at times) and... well I don't wanna address that issue.
That's why I don't base my statistics on work time at all.
Also to note.. although most phone users should already know this, downloading a 10 mb file on 3G, or even 4g for that matter, will use a hell of a lot less battery than downloading a comparable file on 1x.

Agreed. I get very little signal at my house at all, I have a Sprint Airvana box that supports the signal throughout my house and it eats up my battery throughout the day.
It's ridiculous that these companies are putting the same 1500 mAh batteries into smartphones as they did in the old school phones. Forcing anyone who actually uses there phone much to be dependent on a power outlet throughout the day.
Sure, slim is "in", and it saves the manufacturer money by stiffing us with an inadequate battery, but screws the consumer that actually uses their smartphone.
Your only alternative is to spend an additional near $100.00 to get an acceptable battery that should have come with the phone to begin with.

It depends on shipper's location, the shipping method, and your location
But to discuss the "battery life" of an extended battery, it depends on the quality of the battery cells. When I had my Evo 4G, I bought one of those $15 3500 mAh eBay batteries with a cover. It lasted 15-30% longer than the stock battery. Sometimes it wasn't any better than stock. Using the Seidio 3500 mAh battery, it lasted much longer than the cheapo extended battery, but it was also $50+.
If you want a quality battery, that is almost guaranteed to be rated close to what's written on the cover, get a Mugen, or a Seidio. You will also get the battery life you expect. If you want something that might or might not last longer than stock, go with the cheapo eBay batteries.
You get what you pay for.

[Q] Battery drainage

this battery drainage seems to be a big problem with HTC one, is it really as bad as people/users are saying?
if the drain is that bad on the standby should i withhold getting HTC one? im out of the house for more than 14 hrs per day and a juiced up phone is what i need!
GS4 or ONE?
please advise

Actually the battery isn't a problem at all with the One! It is way above average for todays smartphones (not counting in the Note II)
You will generally get 6h of screen time with "xda-user" (most likely higher usage then the average consumer) which is amazing.
I leave the house at 7am and come home at around 10pm, that is 15 hours and the One has been holding up great!
I can't see the GS4 being any better. AMOLED + bigger screen = more power consumption (you need higher brightness etc.).. and in my eyes the One is the better phone over all too... so my advice is to get a One and you will be really really happy!
You may still want to invest 40$ in a portable external battery so you can charge your phone on the go .. just in case

Wait for GS4 Exynos OCTA performance tests to decide.
Maybe the OCTA will be more power-friendly.
Nevertheless, AMOLED 5'' screen of the GS4 seems to be better than the HTC One's . Even the brightness is not an issue anymore cause the new AMOLED is seen better on sunlight than the SLCD3! It suprised me cause the S3 was bad on sunlight. Source: http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s4_vs_htc_one-review-913p3.php

Thnx given
I still have my 2011 HTC Phone here with 1500mAh battery and I get like 0 to 1% battery drain overnight.
Although I know someone there who get results like this with HTC One so the device is not an issue. Just trying to say that SmokyM79 might have wakelock issues there.

The One gets better battery life than the GS4. Rogue apps holding wakelocks won't help either way.
On the related subject of monitoring battery consumption, I have used battery monitor widget since I owned my first Android phone , a Desire HD, however it doesn't measure current correctly on my One.
Does anyone have a recomendation for an app that currently supports the HTC One ?

Battery life :?

Hi, For those who got nexus 6 somehow or who can just guess:
How much is battery going to be ?
Also when they say 8 hours of usage from 15mins charge, 8 hours of video? Or browsing? Or calling ? Or.... 8 hours of what usage ? How long does it take for it to fully charge? And how many percent does the battery get charged after 15mins?
This is just the most awesome thing its like its built for me , only problem is battery life ! (my nexus 4 batterylife is not good, but not unbelievable !) i always carry my nexus 4 charger with myself !(in my pocket)
+ , i hope my father will have some money till than :| or i should give up my espresso machine

Its got simmilar specs as the note 4, so you can expect simmilar performance.
Also, dont expect it to arrive anytime soon around the world.

Embargo+Not final software which is why they pulled the link.
Also, the title is very misleading, the difference in life is an hour apart between devices.

They've only said how many hours in how many minutes of charge. But if I had to guess, it's probably 25% in 15 minutes. And the 8 hours is most likely standby time.

One hour isn't bad, especially if the software is still being tweaked. Were you able to see the link at some point, or how do you know there is an hour difference between the devices?
Just found the link, even better, only about 50 minutes separate the two.

Just one last Question : do you think that quick charge can damage the battery(lifespan) ?
Thats still great!! Awesome ! Even if that isnt the final result(tweak ect) its great!

Yes, that's why i'm putting custom kernel on mine, and lower the current. Both batteries are amazing, and last long enough, only 50 mins difference, but Nexus 6 display is also bigger, so there is that.

As long as the battery lasts until the next nexus comes out. I'm OK. Surely this has been tested enough to get a year out of the battery. Time will tell. But it does tapper off after it has so much charge. I'm putting a little faith in battery technology. And maybe I could use custom kernel and then flash stock when I NEED a quick charge

Ahh, the good ol' battery life questions. Most stupid/ridiculous/irrelevant question anyone can ask because it is very much subjective. 4 hours SOT could only mean 2 for someone else, and maybe closer to 6 for others.
There are so many things that can influence how good or bad battery life is for each and every individual - some things can make a significant difference. Everything from the apps you use, those that are signal in the background, screen brightness, cell signal quality, are you using wifi, is your phone in airplane mode, do you play games and if so do they also require an internet connection.
Battery life questions and more than that, battery stats pictures drive me absolutely insane. Those that post them are clearly highlighting their lack of knowledge and general stupidity.

I sure hope it doesn't hurt the battery. I'm not an expert in that department. This is the bad part about a newer technology. Maybe that's why apple is always 3 years behind. Lol

The charging current itself shouldn't really impact the wear on the battery. The only increased wear would be due to the increased heat generated by faster charging.
That said, I think it's a good trade-off. My Nexus 5 charges to full in about 1h20m, and I'm able to deal with the lackluster battery life as a result.

You are wrong. They both affect battery life. There are current limits, and recommendations because of this.
Who here actually works for a battery company? We have no idea what they have done to maybe make this efficient.

Gonna need more info than that. You talking screen on time? or total? under what settings? full screen brightness?
Yeah screen on time with auto screen brightness. Pretty much on LTE all day. Only disabled bloat apps.
Full day with it, unplugged at 3am and at 8:38pm cst, I am still at 48%. Now I don't use facebook or Tweeter so that helps my battery life. Wifi at work weak and slow so I am on LTE most of the time.

Same here. Only around 4 hrs with regular use. This device needs root.
Easily getting through a day with the phone. Most of the bloat disabled, moderate usage, Bluetooth/NFC/Wi-Fi always on, though mostly on LTE. I certainly don't expect this thing to last like my Note 4, but I'm pleased with the battery life. I get home with time to spare, and plug it in every night like any other phone, so its all good.

Root doesn't mean better battery life. My nexus 5 had about the same battery and got about the same battery life as my s6. And that's rooted, stock, slimrom, and cataclysm. My G3 has about 500 more mAh than the s6 and I get about 5 hours of screen time. Stock battery was better than cyanogen battery.
It's not 2012 anymore. Root is almost obsolete. It's good for app removal, rooted app functionality, and customization. Even if underclocked and undervolted it doesn't change dramatically. If u want a better battery, buy a phone with a bigger battery. MOST people don't look at their phone for 25% of their awake hours (if avg sleep is 8 hrs.) The s6 will give u 3.5-4hrs of screen time on 14-15 hours of use. That is plenty for MOST users

We badly need root. Rooting my phone has always improved the battery life and performance of your phone.
Battery life today was better I think. Screen-on time didn't even show up in the battery usage list, so i'm not sure how much it used. 20.5hrs since unplugging with 14% left.
This will definitely be a phone I'll have to get rid of after a year. With constant charging and a sealed battery, this device really doesn't have a long life. That's my main concern.
Someone in another thread turned off Enhanced LTE (Voice over LTE) under network settings and saw a much better battery life (or lack of drain).
I am experiencing insane WiFi battery drain. I am foregoing the use of WiFi in the mean time. Seems to help.

dont know how true this is. i updated mine and going to see if it does indeed improve battery life.

I updated the Samsung push service and it seems to have improved battery life for me. I will also try turning off the HD Voice and see how it performs..

I updated mine plus turned off Wi-Fi and the hotspots setting in advanced Wi-Fi and battery life has improved. I still see screen as being one of the lowest factors for battery consumption. Our gs6 must have a very battery efficient display. Android os is now my top battery drain. I'm hoping an update to android 5.1 improves the system battery usage. I know it did on my nexus 6.

if you heavily use it well.. thats pretty normal.. mine can last a day if i don't use it for browsing just sms.. but for calling it would mean smaller life

So I've been pretty unimpressed by battery life so far. Barely getting 3.5 hours
Anyone else getting better?

I was getting horrible battery life like you because of cell standby but I disabled enhanced lte and did a cache delete in recovery and now I'm getting almost 5.5 hours of screen on time with brightness set at 25%-50% on WiFi/lte. If you want I have screenshot.

I can vouch for this myself. I was getting pretty bad drain to the point where I was about to return the phone.
The cache wipe seemed to work wonders. Along with deleting and reinstalling google play services (I searched google play services in chrome, clicked the link and jninstalled reinstalled uodates , then did cache wipe)

Battery life seems great to me.

battery life

So, i bought XP few weeks ago, comming from z3.
I am very disappointed from the battery, compared to z3.
Want to ask you how many SOT you have, cos when i'm outside using lte i barely make like 3,5 SOT. Even dont have facebook app to drain the battery.
For 5min telegram chat it goes down with 2%.
Thats why wanted to ask you guys hows your battery life because i'm starting to thinking that my device is faulty or deffect.
Please share your thoughts on that, for 4 hours from 100 it went to 75now with only 30mins SOT
Might be a factory defect, my Xperia x performance always reaches a little bit over 5 hours of screen on time.
Have you seen details on battery usage?
Anyway, I can say that battery lives on Z3+,Z5,Z5 Premium are no match for Z3. See battey test on GSMARENA and you will see that XP got a lot less number compare to Z3 as well.
Yeah, sure its 400mah difference between z3 and xp, but still i think something is wrong, may be on wi fi only i can make 4,5-5h SOT but on lte, impossible.
Here some screenshots from today, took it around 9am from the charger

It doesn't have the WiFi bug that the xa had on release by any chance. Not letting the device reach sleep properly, workaround is to turn off scanning always available inc when screen is off in settings WiFi advanced. It's since been fixed on the xa with a update appently, I'm still waiting on the update to hit the UK

When i browse the web, or just chat it goes down very fast, draining as hell. Phone gets warm only from browsing and chat, here is 35degrees, but still i'm not using it against the sun, even now since i type this it went with 1% down from the beginning of the post writing wich is basically 2-3mins.
So when i use the phone w screen on then its the draining. My wi fi is off now i'm outside
Many people suffer battery drain from Google service (especially when they're using WiFi). However, I dont see anything suspicious from your picture except your signal strength. Very low signal strength would drain your battery real fast as well. I suggest you turning off cellular signal for a day, use only WiFi, and then see your battery consumptiom at the end of the day.
Another thing I would like to mention is battery capacity. Z3 and Z3+ has battery different of 150 mAh but from my personal experience Z3+ would last around 60% of what Z3 could. Its not only about battery itself, its also about what Sony managed on the kernel level to optimize power consumption. Sody has done very bad on this since snapdragon 810 era.
I made a soft reset, will see if there is any difference afrer 2-3 charging cycles.
Another thing is i'm living in Bulgaria, here my operator just introduced the LTE, so the network i s*** may be thats the case will listen to your advice. And try 1day without a cellular.
5 hours of almost continuous use, some of them using battery intense apps and games like Pokémon Go, most of it just reading stuff on Chrome at 50% screen illuminating consumes around 50% of battery for me. So if you're losing 98% charge iin 5 minutes, your phone probably suffers from some kind factory defect.
In 5-6 mins use SOT(browsing and checking instagram i'm loosing exactly 1-2% if i'm outside lets say 3%max if the screen need to be full brightness, hows yours?
Dont play pokemon, even dont have fb app, only instagram, shazam, telegram, viber and whatsapp and chrome.

Go to settings location tap the three dots top right then turn both the sliders to the off position WiFi and Bluetooth are scanning in the background even if they are both turned off in main settings. Makes a huge difference to the battery life on my xa.

Thanks, but allready done that, maximum i achieved 3h 38m SOT from 9am till 11pm, with LTE mostly, on wi fi i believe i can make 4hours SOT
I think battery capacity is the culprit that 400 is a big difference i used z5 premium and i got 4hrs sot only they should put there 3000 to 3200 mah on 5 inch screen Hope they fix their design im starting to dislike sony
I am testing as well at the moment. I hardly manage to get through the day. I am still investigating as it is quite hard without root. That was yesterday.

I couldn't agree more styxter! The capacity is TOO small on the XP!

I couldn't agree more Ice! I too came from a Z3, and the battery life on my XP is really disappointing. The 2 day battery life promise DIED IMO when the Z series ended. These new batteries suck. lol Way too small. The XP I saw was rated as having the WORST battery life of any 2016 flagship (even less than XZ's) AND the longest charging time. Kind makes me wish I'd waited for the XZ. lol Or just got the HTC 10 maybe, which lasts 70 minutes longer than the XP can. But XP and XZ have the better camera, so tough call. Camera or battery life? If HTC 11 bumps up the camera (10's was very good to great but XP's is excellent) another notch over 10, I may be switching back to HTC (used to have the One M8).
I have uninstalled or disabled the majority of bloatware including the Facebook app, but still. One day 6 weeks ago I had to leave early so was on a train by 6am. Even after enabling Stamina Mode and turning off phone 2-3 times over the day, by like 8 or 9pm that night, I was down to 5%! That is awful man. lol I'm really getting fed up with Sony and their BS, even though I do love my phone overall. But battery life is a major factor for me, as is camera and performance.

I hope they do Ice, but I have little faith a software update is gonna make any real difference vs. the other 2016 flagship competition. And if it does, it will probably improve the competition's battery life too..............aka, very little difference. But I'll take whatever they can give me I guess. Not even sure if I will still be with Sony next year. DEF keeping my eyes on LG and HTC, who both currently have better battery life too than the XP and even the XZ (and lower charging times too).
Well, what's sad is despite the XZ's larger battery capacity, it's STILL only the SECOND worst on battery life vs. the 2016 flagship competition's, right behind the XP. lol I believe it only has like 30-40 min over the XP at best. Where the HTC 10 for example has a solid 70 min over the XP. And that's still on the low end, but at least there's a lot LESS BS when it comes to HTC phones than Sony's (though Sony's still have the slightly better camera, but that may not be the case with the 11 next year). And the audio quality and volume of the 10 def seems superior to what Sony is giving us these days vs. the competition. 2 years ago, it was much more equal, but in 2016, HTC took a big step forward while Sony seems to have taken 1-2 steps back. See my threads on Head-Fi for more on that (if you wish) here and here.
as it has a bright screen, I find that using a black theme and customize as much apps to black helps. Normally it can last a full day and it will have 30 percent left. I'm not a heavy user though.
Guys tell me about the battery i want this phone but i need battery that last at least full day sorry for my bad english

If you turn your brightness to 1/4, no gps, no bluetooth, you'll make it through te day with like 5 hours SOT.
