DEAL: Best Buy Offering Moto Z DROID Force for only $99, INCLUDES JBL Speaker Mod! - Moto Z Force Guides, News, & Discussion

Best Buy is now selling the Moto Z DROID Force (pre-order) for $99 on a 2-year contract extension ($200 off) and tosses in the JBL SoundBoost speaker for free! Kinda amazed by that, considering its retail pricing.
Best Buy Link

I have always heard that buying from a big box store is a bad, very bad idea.
Granted I don't know the details of why.
Just something I remember seeing

I took advantage of this deal. I didn't do a contract, I did the monthly payment plan, which ended up only being $21 per month instead of $30 if I bought direct from VZW.. So, i'll only pay $524 for the phone. I also got the JBL speaker mod, included for free with the pre-order, and I grabbed an Incipio battery mod also.
As for purchasing from a "Big Box" store, Best Buy Mobile is just like any other indirect retailer. You can have good employee's and a good experience or visa versus. Being that they have huge buying power from the Manufactures, they end up being able to offer better deals, sometimes, than the actual carriers. Just be clear and concise with what you want and you'll be just fine. I speak from direct/personal experience in this matter. I had about 7 or so years in the wireless industry, including a year or so of working for Best Buy Mobile. I'm in IT now, but still associated with the electronics and wireless industry.

I also jumped on the deal and it was smooth. They didn't have the JBL Mod in store, but they will be contacting me as soon as it comes in

JBL speaker is actually pretty sweet. I wouldn't have paid for it otherwise.
It's REALLY loud and damn good quality! I'll probably use it more for watching stuff on the phone to get full effect.

In the days of carrier contracts and subsidized phones with contracts, this was true. Here's why.
Let's say a phone retails without contract for $600. The subsidized price for signing a two year contract is $300. Verizon carries it in the store for $300, so does Best Buy. Since BB is a third party retailer for Verizon, they get paid a hold back (commission) for signing the customer up on the contract. The hold back comes usually at 6 months into the contract and varies on device ($175 - $350).
Ok, now let's say you decide you can't carry the contract any more. Verizon will charge you an ETF to break the contract (to recoup cost of the device). BUT...let's say you bought it at Best Buy...and instead of charging you $300, BB was selling it for $100...because they were expecting a $350 hold back from Verizon in 6 months. Well if you cancelled before BB got their commission, YOU now owe them XXX amount of money. It's a part of the secondary contract you sign with a third party retailer.
In modern times, this isn't an issue because phones are not tied to plans, per se.

Has anyone tried getting the discount when buying the phone outright from best buy? Still on unlimited data and not willing to give it up, but no way I'm paying$720 for a phone.

Make sure you clearly have a receipt stating you are owed the speaker. On my other line I did the free 64GB micro SD card and free VR from Best Buy for the S7 and same thing, they were out of both. A few weeks later and no call, but they showed as in stock. Turns out the rep rang it up wrong so I was never going to get a call. Luckily the manager believed me and gave me both, but that was pure luck. Make sure your receipt shows that it was ordered for you.

I REALLY wish they could upgrade a phone on a business account. I want this phone badly, but don't want to pay $30/mo from Verizon.

Took advantage of this deal. Went fine, great price, got the speaker, then turned my old phone into an iPad. All in all, quick and painless experience.

Walked in the other day just to follow up and the manager approved the transaction. They still didn't have it in stock though, so they just ordered it to ship to my door.

[Q] Deals on the Bionic

Just wondering what kind of deals people have seen on the Bionic. It almost seems like 3rd parties werent really pushing this phone. I know Costco had an ad with some accessories, but I also saw in the ad that it might not be on opening day.
Has anyone else seen anything worthwhile?
unfortunately nothing special as of yet. i have heard that you can do the $100 off trade-in deal if you are upgrading from a non-smart phone. other then that just accessories.
I got the 100 off for using a non smart phone upgrade then 50 off the new every two rebate. See what happens.
Phone Arena's reporting Costco's doing $280 + a nice accessories bundle.
I was in Costco today. They said they would have 8 tomorrow at this store. He wouldn't say the price but claimed it came with $170 worth of accessories including a dock. He did say they would be cheaper than the Verizon stores.
I am seriously considering this phone instead of my Droid Charge.
Im getting rid of my Charge for this phone. I just cant take the battery drain any more.
I wonder if Amazon or anyone else will be running big specials.

Probably be some deals within a couple weeks, but I doubt it this week.
I just logged into my verizon and the upgrade price they have for me is $249. I totally expected $299.
I got this price by logging into the main phone account on a family plan and attempting to upgrade a secondary line.
$249 at amazonwireless
$50 for NE2, $30 off as loyalty bonus, free o/n shipping.
So one major gripe most reviewers had has been reduced. At $219, unlimited data and rooting it seems like a better deal, somewhat worthy of the delay.
I guess all new smartphones would receive such discount, but by most accounts the bionic is a capable phone and a significant jump from my D1.

For new customers only, unfortunately. Upgrade is $249.
wow didnt know verizon had it cheaper. was about to go to BJ's to buy it as I usually do, since the price for the phone is generally the same and they have better deals on the accessories. Thanks for saving me the money.
EDIT: just went to VZW and it only wants to give me a price of $289 with no loyalty bonus. I am part of a family plan but that shouldnt matter. I have been eligible since july for upgrade. amazonwireless says its backordered.
Checked this morning and:
Wirefly.com was $249
Amazon.com was $199 ( backordered)
Letstalk.com was $199
I'm hoping BJs/Costco will drop the price to $199 and waive the activation fee for me
Walmart.com also has it for $199. stores don't have them yet. Just checked. Don't want to wait though. Plus I'm always paranoid about a 3rd party seller screwing up my plan and charging me extra. Especially my unlimited plan.

$269 in store plus $100 trade-in credit for old phone when adding a line.
Can anyone confirm the $249 price with verizon for upgrading a current line?
I am secondary on a family plan, and my upgrade isn't until 9/13, but the extra $50 off makes the deal a little easier to swallow. As far as loyalty, we have been good customers for at least 5 years, not sure how they do their calculations as to who is "loyal"

My mistake, this price was listed on my verizon for me because I had a $50 phone credit that I was unaware of. When I asked the verizon rep he said that all family plans are credited this $50 every 20 months.
I went in to the store today and got the Bionic for $289 without an upgrade and almost 50% off some accessories. Got the phone $589, a extended battery and door $49.99, case and holster $29.99, HDMI dock $99.99, and screen protectors $12.99 plus 24.43 tax and out the door for $431.63. Saved $375.75

Anybody Else Buy Their HTC One at Best Buy?

I am extremely happy I got the phone yesterday after pre-ordering on the 5th, but Best Buy really left a sour taste in my mouth. First off, they did not recognize my entry in their "Phone Freedom" program which offered a $50 gift card if you bought a phone through them within the year. The stupid thing is, they said that they couldn't find my email address in the system, yet I only started getting emails about their specials after I signed up for that promotion. That made me pretty unhappy. I even signed up twice for the promotion a few days apart since I thought it was so strange that I didn't get a confirmation email the first time. After I didn't get it the second time, I just assumed that they weren't sending out confirmations (Strange, but I didn't think it just wouldn't work twice in a row).
The next thing was that it is plastered all over the walls in the mobile section of their store that they price match and have a low-price guarantee; yet they only price match phones that are purchased off contract. That might be common place on this forum with phone fanatics, but out in the real world (in the US at least) most phones are purchased with a contract. Saying that they price match "any deal" and then ruling out 90%(Edit: I guess I was a little optimistic, 66%) of phone purchases doesn't really seem like fair advertising to me.
Has anyone else purchased their One at Best Buy? Did you get your gift card if you signed up for the Phone Freedom program? The cashier said that it was a very common problem, and that it only really worked if you went in store to sign up, and that the online entry didn't really work.
I love the phone. I can not believe how much better it feels compared to my aging E4GT, but I wish I had a better purchasing experience.
When I signed up online for the "phone freedom", I did get a confirmation email and I made sure to save it. When I upgraded my phone last year, I also made sure to take a hard copy of the email with me just in case. Good thing too because their system was down and the only way they were willing to give me that discount was if I could show them the confirmation email (which I did). After that, the manager adjusted the price by $50. When I upgrade to the HTC One (as soon as the black version is available), I am definitely going to be sure to take a copy of the new confirmation email I got from BB when I signed up again earlier this year.
The price match policy actually really just depends on particular stores and what policies they know and abide by.
Best Buy's policy most recently changed on 3/3/2013 to exclude contract mobile from price matches. However some stores will still recognize and offer price matches to brick and mortar stores for contract phones, which was their old policy. Unfortunately, I was unable to find a brick and mortar store that had a price less than $199.99 when I went to my local BB.

yes i got mine no issue pre ordered the 6th i love the phone
I did the pre order there and I also got my confirmation for the $50 gift card from the freedom program, Also I did my research where to order the phone and I knew they changed the price match policies to be able to match online retailers but excludes on contract cell phones. I guess they did because amazon prices their smartphones dirty cheap after a few months(With a new line).
I know its a little off topic but does anyone know if Best Buy's Black Tie program is any good? I'm pretty sure they tried to make you buy it if you bought the phone. When I bought my iPhone they made it seem that I could destroy the thing and get a new one free of charge for only $10 a month. I'm thinking of getting insurance for my One when I get it because I don't want to get a case and hide its premium feel. I heard it doesn't hold up against scratches and drops too well :c?

I brought their insurance for my daughter's Note II back in november and I got it for my One, is cheaper if you buy the 2 years in advance $169 vs $240($10 * 24 months) + taxes. So far the only claim I have done is for the Note's charger, my daughter somehow pulled the plastic tubing that covers the charging cable close to the USB plug, We went to best buy and they order me an new whole charger( charger box+ cable) and they let me keep the charger box. I read the fine print and it covers damage accessories(included with phone) for 1 time replacement. The only thing that doesn't cover is if the phone is lost or stolen with $0 deductible.
Also if you decide to get the black tie insurance as a bonus, when is time to upgrade to a new phone they have trade-in plus, They will give you 100% the value of your phone at the time of trade-in plus a $50 gift card.
I do indeed have best buys insurance and am very happy with it. I got it with my Galaxy S2 and a month after I got the phone I dropped it on concrete and cracked the screen all up.
I went to best buy and told them what happened. They said they had to send it off and offered me a temp rental phone to hold me over ($50 charge that they refund when you return it undamaged). I took the rental and like a week later I went back and they said the damage to the casing was too bad (it was scraped up on the side badly) and it was unrepairable so they gave me a new phone.
I gave them back the rental, got my $50 back, and went home with a new phone. Very good experience, and so far it was my only claim.

Even if by some chance I did , they should honor it. I love the phone also.
To the other posters I bought my insurance for $90 from SquareTrade. It typically costs about about $40 more but I get coupons all the time for being a customer. It covers all defects and drops and spills.
Only have a $100 deductible but that's ok.

The did not find my freedom $50 either. They called someone and they emailed me a $50 giftcard. The put the free zagg on (fo free) as we waited. (I'm ready to take it off, as it sucks IMO) then she tried to sell me on a case. I already had a cruzerlite with me. She left the case on the counter. She put my phone and zagg case in on top of it. As she bagged everything she grabbed the case too. It took over an hour to get it all set up but I got the phone and some freebies.

Bought two from Best Buy had great experience. Only thing was they were unaware of free screensaver's and had to go back.
Posted this Friday.
First at Sprint Store this morning I purchased 3 accessories and got half price (they looked at me weird because I didn't have phones yet). Then at Best Buy I traded one of my htc evo LTE got a hundred dollars for it, the other goes to my daughter. Plus I am sending two htc EVO Design's back for a hundred dollars a piece from the preregister I did with HTC. Also was able to do buy out through Sprint at $150 which is half the price they originally wanted so I upgraded both lines, instead of just one and paying outright price for other. Then to top it all off Best Buy gave me two extra gift cards $50 each to price match Radio Shack preorder (play store gift cards) even though they weren't supposed to!

I went to Best Buy on Friday to pre-order both the HTC One and a GS4 (not knowing the One came out that day). The pre order process was easy going and the lady that helped my wife and I was very pleasant. We left an about an hour later got a call that the HTC One had arrived and was ready for us to pick it up. I went back to pick it up and after waiting about 10 mins for the other customers to finish was given great service in my opinion. There were no issues with anything and didnt even have an issue with the e-mail promo some of you did. I also got a Zagg HD screen protector and Pt Case for it and love them both. Also very excited to use the warranty on the Zagg. I also did switch over to the Best Buy insurance since I had to replace my GS3 through insurance not to long ago due to a crack and wasn't to happy about the 150 deductible. I have heard good things about Best Buy's insurance so I hope if I use it, it goes well.
So overall my experience was good and will be going back to Best Buy to buy my phone from now on. Also excited to see what i get for the HTC One in two years since they will give me %100 of the worth plus $50. Sorry to hear about some of yours bad luck but hope all goes well again when I pick up my GS4 this Friday.
Best buy freaking sucks man. I bought a Zagg and then paid for them to install it. 6 tries later and all seems well. Until I get to the car and realize theres 5 spots because of the fuzzies rubbing off of the cleaning cloth. Oh. Its 7pm and we're closing sir. Please come back tomorrow. Not to mention 3 of the 6 Zaggs they used, they tried to charge me for.

Best Buy

I got my pre ordered One on Sunday from my local best buy. I paid $260 after my upgrade and getting the geek squad insurance and sales tax. I got to reading the wire fly thread and saw that they had them for $119 with $20 visa card. That would drop it down to $100 plus I get the $100 from my OG EVO. WELL...I went into Best Buy tonight and told them I wanted a refund on my phone and I was going to buy from Wire Fly. They asked if they price matched, would I keep it? Said, SURE! Walked out paying $.01 for phone and $9.99 for protection plan. $10.00!!!! I also get $100 back from HTC! In the end I'll have made $90 on the new ONE!
Just had to share my story. Love this phone!
Wish I had nice Best Buys near me that price matched online retailers. Mine only does local brick & mortar stores. Congrats!
Hey, I've got black tie, too. Dies having black tie help get any kind of discount even when you're not upgrade eligible? (Sorry, not real familiar with black tie/best buy).

Very nice. I wish bestbuy would be consistent with their pricematching.
I had every intention on returning it I even chatted with an online sales person to see if they'd price match, they told me only if it says 'lowest price guarantee". When I went in, the girl asked me if they matched the price, would I keep the phone. She then asked the details she must have misunderstood me and gave it to me for free. Score!
Was able to give evo4g LTE to son and send in his evo for $100.

Pretty ridiculous that they wouldn't price match especially considering I bought it off contract.

I could be mistaken but I believe their policy says they price match most things except "contract phones." Since you were going to buy yours off-contract from BB, they should have price matched. I would call up BB corporate and complain, telling them that cannot see yourself shopping at BB any longer after that experience. I do this every time a BB employee/manager screws up and corporate always makes up for it by sending me a $50 gift card.
Here is the policy:

Ya I too bought mine from best buy off contract and I couldn't for the life of me get them to price match sprints off contract price when I use to get them to price match the off contact price on my past phones like the Evo 3d and Galaxy Nexus, they said it was a new policy that went into effect in like March

Hate to one up ya......but check out what I did. Last year my wife and I both got 2 Evo 4G LTE's and I shelled out an extra $30 on each phone for their black tie trade in program. I had to open up 2 new lines as my wife and I's lines were not available for upgrade. Best buy let me swap my 2 new lines to the old lines. This would allow me to upgrade my LTE's in a year if I wanted. (My friend wanted one of my lines and the other went to my mother). So this brings us to this year and the one. When I went to trade in my LTE's, Best Buy gave us $280.00 per LTE for trade....I walked out about $40.00 + after taxes....and have 2 phones to send back to HTC....so end the end....+240.00!!!! (well minus the $60 i paid for the program only $180 ahead.) still not bad being paid for this awesome phone!!

Ya, that new policy in March says no price matching for "contract phone." The employee you spoke with incorrectly applied it to off contract phones. You can see the policy in the link I provided in my previous post in this thread. I would print out a copy and show it to them. If they still refuse, call corporate and complain. They will likely send you a gift card for your trouble at the minimum.

Offer valid on new accounts and upgrade eligible lines. So you buy one S4 at regular price and get a second one Free!

I am sure amazon and every other retailer on line will smash that deal, they will would probably offer it for 100 or so.
Same with the htc one, sprint dropped the price to 200, and amazon has it for 50 dollars now..
That great

Yea but sprint doesn't compete with online retailers. Most companies can't.
And the HTC one has always been 200 since the day it was released.
But there are ways a new customer can get an HTC one or S4 completely free.

Best buy always has various great deals the one for the HTC One is good right now. $99 for the One trade in your old phone and put the amount toward the One and get a $50 gift card for Best Buy. The S4 had a deal a week ago. I will never buy from anywhere but Best Buy from now on and the last place would be from Sprint. They screw me over on my data enough I don't need there ridiculous prices and activation fees and about 1/3 the price for trading in your phone as Best Buy.

What makes you think you don't get charged activation/upgrade fees from Best Buy? Read the contract.
A Sprint store would offer discounts on accessories with a phone purchase, Best Buy does not.
A Sprint store will take the time to educate the customer on their new phone, Best Buy does not.
A Sprint store will assist the customer with applying or re-validating their discount, Best Buy does not.
A Sprint store has access National Sales Support (NSS) to resolve complicated issues, Best Buy does not.
1/3 the price on Buy Back? Where do you get that info from? Sure, Best Buy MAY give you a little more for your phone than a Sprint store will, but we're talking maybe $20 tops. Sprint follows a national AVERAGE for Buyback value on phones.
Sprint stores can also offer different credits and discounts to beat Best Buy prices, such as the $100 port-in credit, or the ability to get $100 off any phone if you sign up for Sprint's Home Phone Connect service. I had a customer the other day who walked out with a FREE Galaxy S4 and free accessories... he had an iPhone 5 from Verizon and cancelled his Verizon contract. He got $100 for keeping his Verizon number, and another $100 for signing up for the Phone Connect... so that's a free S4 right there. Then he traded in his iPhone 5 for a $245 credit and used that money to buy a bunch of stuff for his new phone. Total out the door cost = FREE.
Best Buy can't match everything we do, as Sprint corporate won't allow it.
Hey Ryan, do you think you could explain how this deal works? Do we need two valid upgrade lines or can I walk in the store with my upgrade and walk out with two s4's?

Yes, you need two VALID lines. You must meet 1 of these 3 qualifications:
1) Be a new customer activating at least 2 new lines of service.
2) Be an upgrade eligible customer upgrading at least 2 new lines of service.
3) Be an upgrade eligible customer upgrading at least 1 line of service and adding at least 1 new line.
Any of those scenarios will qualify you for the BOGO offer.

Hmm..this sounds like a cool deal. I switched my line from ATT about 2 days ago. I was gonna wait till next month to switch my wife's line over to Sprint. But if they would let me get a free S4 for her considering I just started service a couple days ago, that'll be great. But I doubt they will go for it...but I'll definitely call and try to get this deal next week when its made public...

Won't work. When the store processes the phone in SNAP, your line would be a service when it has to be a new or upgrade. So even IF the store personnel didn't know what they were doing and gave you the in-store credit, Sprint themselves would not pay the store back for the credit because the BOGO offer was done wrong.
The only way you can do this is if you add TWO more lines of service. Then just give the 3rd S4 to someone else or something.

Buddy you got all the wrong information. I work for Best Buy Mobile, and we do all of that.
Buy any case upto 24.99 get a zaggshield HD or car charger for only $10. OR all 3 for just $50
Buy any case upto 34.99 get a Zaggsheild HD or car charger for only $10 Or all 3 for $60
We price match accessories to any online or store retailer, including the $50 Otterbox's for $25 that are on sale at Amazon. And most of the time if you ask if you can give a discount on a case or charger, mobile manager or sales leads can give you a "customer satisfaction" discount.
I don't think any carrier store spends as much time with a single customer as we do at BBYM. We do not work on commission and don't rush you out of the store to get to the next customer to make money off of them and rush them out. There have been times where I have had older customers come into the store and I've spend an hour with them just educating them about the technology, finding out what their needs are, what they plan on using the phones for, and all of the different pricing options, plans etc. then another hour setting the phones up for them, google, corporate email accounts, apps, showing them how to work it and etc.
True we can't do the $100 credit for new service/bringing your number from another carrier, but Our system we use does allow us to search for corporate discounts to apply to the customers account.
And we do have NSS access to Sales Support for issues that may come up, and trust me, Sprint is the one that usually has the most issues with phones not wanting to update and activate and prl and profile updates not going through, also we have our Sprint Account Manager just a phone call away if there are issues that need immediate attention that calling NSS can't resolve as far as phones not activating due to still being on another account or Bad ESN's that need to be taken care of to reactivate for the customer.
As far as our protection plan, the best in the industry, $9.99 a month (a dollar cheaper than Sprint) with $0 deductible and UNLIMITED Claims. Although we do not cover loss of theft, but then that's why we have zero deductible and unlimited claims. As long as you have your phone, whatever is wrong with it, (cracked, broken, dropped in toilet, charger, battery, charge port) we'll take care of it. As for Iphones go, we now even replace the glass In Store. And if you have our Geek Squad Protection you automatically get our Trade-In Plus for free, and that will give you an additional $50 on top the trade in value of the phone.

Buy Back everywhere is a joke... $245 for an iphone 5 I would be insulted.. they're what $600 at the store clearly it's 1/3 of the price right there..

I'm going on information I have on hand, where I live our Best Buy sucks and I've been told that by customers many times. People tell me it's just like RadioShack, where yea they'll sell you a phone and if you're lucky they'll transfer contacts for it, but that's it. And the reason is BECAUSE you don't work on commission... a LOT of salespeople have no motivation to go the extra mile. They make a base pay and that's it. If they deal with 20+ customers a day, each one ending with the same result, then where's the drive to be the best? If you can't LOSE money as a sales rep, then you shouldn't call yourself a salesman IMHO. In that case you're just a customer service guy.
People have commission all wrong and it cracks me up when I see the Best Buy commercials that say you guys don't work on commission. Commission is what motivates salesmen to do a good job. Say a customer comes in my store and buys 4 new phones and I make $100 off that single transaction... it's my JOB to make sure they're 100% satisfied, because if they're not they have every right to return those phones and then I lose the commission, so now I just wasted time AND lost money because I half ass job. A typical single line upgrade will last about 45 minutes with us. We don't rush, and if we have customers waiting we simply set the expectations, tell them how long we'll be, and invite them to come back later so they don't have to wait. We go over ever aching detail from contact, picture, video, email, ringtone transfers to customer education. Then afterwards, the customer gets a CSAT call where they get to rate us. If our CSAT score is too low, we lose even more money off our commission. So once again, the result is that if you're dealing with a salesman who's pay and lively hood is directly effected by your (the customer's) level of satisfaction, then why do people assume commission-based salesmen don't do their job? Makes no sense.
But I digress.. Don't get me wrong bud, I am certainly NOT saying you do a bad job. If your particular Best Buy is a good one, and you in particular do an awesome job in phone sales, then that's great. I'm simply saying ours is not a good store, and the people there don't really give a crap.
Also, our accessory deals are pretty good. We do almost the same thing as you... buy any case for $29.99 or less and we'll bundle screen protectors and a car charger for a flat $40. We simply don't offer Zagg's because we don't believe in wet application screen protectors. OtterBox's are a big seller for us, and if you buy a Defender you don't need a Zagg anyway. We can't really match Amazon pricing for OtterBox because we're a preferred retailer, but we'll take a Defender down to $39.99 if we have too and still make a bundle deal.

NEW customer?
If you port your number to Sprint from a different carrier you will get $100 in-store credit. If you sign up for the Home Phone Connect on top of that you'll get another $100 in-store credit. That means you can get an S4 for only $50 in store, but then you get a $50 mail-in rebate. So after everything is said and done, you get a free GS4.

Very tempted for the Best Buy offer + my birthday coupon, but is it worth it?

I got my Note 8 last year through Best Buy with Verizon, and there was a sweet promotion that pretty much rendered my Note 8 to only cost $306 by the end of my two year device payment plan. It's my main phone use of today.
About 3 weeks ago, I found someone selling a Galaxy S8+ of a few month's use with LOTS of charging accessories for only $200! I went to pick that up because it was such a steal and it would be cool to have a backup phone to say the least.
So now it's the month of August, and Best Buy awarded me a 10% off coupon on select items. Apparently, it works for the Note9! And the trade in they're offering is $450 for an S8+/Note8 towards the new Note9. So $100 off + $450 = $550 off a $1000 smartphone! And if I am able to sell the AKG headphones, this new phone is practically a few hundred dollars!
But then I'm thinking to myself...is it really worth it to switch to the Note 9 as my main? I can sell away my Note8 for extra money back in this overall "dilemma" and I'll just continue to make payments as if nothing happened because I doubt Verizon will know whether I have the phone on hand or not. lol
What do you guys think? I have until Thursday evening to jump in on this. Is this worth it for the amazing deal I've found here?
Some speculation, but the terms on the Best Buy trade-in offer mention it's via a gift card and coupon. I'm not familiar with how Best Buy applies coupons, but it could be that the two coupons might not stack if this is the case... unsure. Otherwise, I think it's a decent deal, yes.

I was on chat with a Best Buy representative last night for an hour to verify everything, and he told me to keep screenshots and come into the store to place the order while having them process the trade in so it would all work.
A Note 9 for sub $600.00 is worth it, just from a math perspective.
Here is the breakdown you provided. You paid $350(Note 8) + $200(S8+) = $550 All-in.
If you got the Note 9 it would breakdown $1000(Note 9) - ($100(coupon)-$350(S8 Trade In))=$550 for a Note 9; if you sell your Note 8 for more than $550 you profit.
If not you still win because the most you will have spent for 2 banging phones is $900.

Oh uh, the Best Buy deal only allowed one trade in device, so it would be the S8+. That phone is eligible for $450 towards the Note 9. The birthday coupon takes off 10% from the regular price, so that's $100. That's how it came to be 550 off the phone. The Note 8 could just sit with me or I can sell it either way. Hehe
Of course it's a great deal! This phone is substantially better than the Note8 in my opinion (as a Note8 user/lover), if nothing else just for the battery! Although there is a lot more I am excited about (pen with BT for photos, more storage, more RAM, new color, contrast with signature ink, improved camera, stereo speakers, etc.).
I'm not 100% sure how it works, but you may have to pay off Verizon for the Note8 though. I thought I had heard that if you try and buy a phone that has not been paid off, it won't work. In other words, you could not sell your Note8 and have the other person stick their SIM in it. I could be mistaken, but I would look into it!

Nice to hear from a fellow Note8 user. I was debating about if it is really worth it, but I would really like a fatter battery for sure!
I'm not going to do anything to hand over the Note 8 though, so passing up the S8+ is my full intentions.

I actually also have an Orchid Gray Verizon model. It is easily my favorite phone that I've ever had. The ONLY things keeping it from perfection (in my opinion) are: (1) battery size, (2) lack of stereo speakers, (3) fingerprint scanner annoyance. Those have all been fixed (along with the obvious processor upgrade and camera upgrade and pen upgrade), so I am 100% positive this will be a dream phone for me. There are literally no other phones I even care about or am jealous of (I often get phone envy...). This thing is going to be amazing, which is why I splurged and got the 512GB model to make it the ultimate dream phone, future-proof phone (in case I keep it for a long time!).

I think I'm going to do it, just hoping I won't get screwed over in store saying it can't be applied even though it shows it for me online.
I loved my note8 until it was stolen...
Anyway, I pre-ordered from Samsung. I drove over to Costco and they are giving away some type of $70.00 charging kit with your purchase but you must finance the phone which means a query to your credit report. For some reason you can't just purchase the phone outright.
Bestbuy did not have any deals on this phone. I spoke with their Samsung rep who demoed the BT from the other side of the store and took photos... Pretty damned amazing!
B&H Photo/Video has a pretty nice deal but I didn't see any way to trade in your old phone with them. + they are charging you NYC Tax which is pretty damned high!
Anyone know where the best deal is on this phone? For now, I'll stick with my order from Samsung's website. They still haven't charged my CC as of this time which makes me think that maybe I won't be getting my phone on Friday. UGH! Since my Note 8 was stolen, I've been without a phone for the past month and it's been a pretty damned painful month but I survived .

Where are you located? The deals I'm trying to take advantage of is available through Best Buy themselves.
How did your phone get stolen? You can't track it?

I tracked it then they turned it off. From here, I went online and hopefully deleted all of my stuff that was on there. Unfortunately, my micro-SD Card was not encrypted so if you see me on Redtube be forewarned, it might not be pretty...
I went into a local BestBuy store. The sales guy didn't have 1 deal for me other than what was already on the Samsung website.

I have written this before and will write it again. You guys and gals in the USA are spoiled with Smart phones. The deals you get are amazing. No such deals exist in Southern Europe in fact I may add the whole of Europe.
In this country we have to pay top price for smart phones.
My note 7 (both of them) came with nothing. S8+ came with nothing, Note 8 came two months later with a DEX. This time after numerous complaints to Samsung in this country we managed the amazing deal of trading in our 12 month old Note 8 costing 1,020.00€ for the Note 9 costing 1,030.00€. We got 500.00€ deducted. Never known such a deal and probably never will again! :highfive:
In your case you should jump at such an offer. :good:

Alright, just to update:
I went to my local Best Buy to do the whole process in store, and the employee helping me was confused at my coupon code working for the unlocked Note 9. He called the manager and 2 other employees came and huddled up to see what was going on. They were calling me out about the Unlocked Phones being in their exclusion list, but I told them it worked in my Cart online, and showed them all the screens and from the app. Then I told them to try using the code on another unlocked phone they have available in store that was regular priced. They pulled out a Galaxy J7 phone that was $220, applied the code.....BAM! $22 SAVINGS! THE CODE WORKED!
The reaction on all their faces were priceless! So I go ahead and placed my order for pickup, and they processed the S8+ I had on have for $450. Now I just have to wait for tomorrow to pick up!

That's awesome! I feel like BB always tries to screw people over and limit deals, so I am happy to hear you won the battle!

The taste of victory is pretty sweet! ?
And I asked them about my Note8 currently being in a device payment plan. Really, I could still sell the phone for profit and still continue paying it off at the end of the two years because it's easy to just switch Sims and just go on with your day.
My Best Buy order switched to "Ready for Pickup" today, so excitedly, I drove into the store to, you know, Pickup my phone.
However, they said I wasn't able to pickup until tomorrow. Kinda frustrating to say the least.
