New and improved Themes for HTC – Sprint Product Ambassadors - Sprint HTC 10 Guides, News, & Discussion

Most OEM’s now offer their own marketplace with apps, widgets, and other features that enhance the UI experience. HTC is no different in this respect, and one of my favorite options that they offer are Themes.
Themes are a collection of User Interface updates that change the way your phone looks and sounds. Specifically, each theme can be loaded with just a change in wallpaper and icons, or can be as in depth as changing ringtones, fonts, default contact pix, and even widget and shortcut placement and design. I’ve noticed over the last few years that HTC’s phone releases have loosely coincided with some major motion picture releases, so I’ve geeked out a bit and loaded the latest Avengers, or Age of Ultron, or Star Wars Themes on my phone.
NOW, there is a new type of Theme available. The original “Classic layout themes” are themes that have shortcut icons that are relatively similar to icons that you may have in your default set up. Additionally, the homescreen is still set up in the traditional ‘grid’ of 4x4. There is a significant number of Classic Layout Themes available for free. They even offer the option of creating your own Theme, which isn’t all that difficult to do for a basic Theme with ringtone, wallpaper, and font.
The new theme offering is called the Freestyle Layout Themes. I’ve found that freestyle themes are NOT bound by the 4x4 grid for each homescreen. So for example, the Galaxy theme uses different images of planets, moons, and other celestial bodies as icons for shortcuts to different apps. Additionally, those planets can be placed ANYWHERE on each screen… not just limited to the 4x4 grid.
I’ve also found that there doesn’t need to be any association with the app that each shortcut represents. That can definitely be confusing when first using any given freestyle theme, but it does ‘look’ cooler. There is also an interface that allows you to assign the icon to a specific application if it is not assigned by default to something you already have installed on your device.
Currently I’m running the Summer freestyle theme, but I’ve also used the Solar System and The Walking Dead #TWD theme… they’ve been REALLY cool, and make my phone screen a talking point to others who see it.
What are you running? Have you made a theme that we can try out?
Let me know!

I don't watch the show, but I can imagine it's a good one... I've heard so much about the show, I can only imagine the stuff they include with the Theme. May have to check it out.
Is it Freestyle or Traditional?

Traditional. Haven't looked in freestyle. Their may be one. There's more than one in traditional.

Professional looking homescreen

I came over to the android world from a HTC Tilt II running WM 6.5. Has anyone mimicked the Sense/TouchFLO layout? It looks very professional and sleek... I would love to make my Android home screen on my Captivate look similar to it. I love the android OS by far, but I would love suggestions on how to make it look more "professional". Thanks
Try Beautiful Widgets for clock and weather widgets. http://www.appbrain.com/search?q=beautiful+widgets
LauncherPro for custom docks and icons, an upgrade to LauncherPro Plus will get you htc sense style bookmark, contacts and facebook widgets. http://www.appbrain.com/app/launcherpro/com.fede.launcher
LauncherPro is IMHO the best replacement launcher www.launcherpro.com

I appreciate the help, however I have already purchased BW and LP. I just want that more "professional" feel, as previously stated, and I can't get that out of anything that I have tried. But again, thank you for your input.
You could try ADW Launcher, I've never really used it my self.
But you download custom made themes, i'm sure there must be numerous sense style themes available, but your not going to get sense style widgets.
There are numerous clock widgets available that are similar to sense clock widget http://www.appbrain.com/app/sense-analog-clock-widget-4x2/factory.widgets.SenseClock
I don't think he necessarily wants a Sense look, or he probably would have gotten an Aria or gone to a different network
As far as professional, sleek, clean.. the things you can do to your Android home screen are boundless. It's all personal preference. If you want it to look like HTC Sense, go with either LauncherPro Plus (for the widgets) or ADW.Launcher (for the navbar and icons). Also, I recommend Weather and Toggle Widgets paid app, if you want the pretty HTC Sense flip clock with the weather (get the H7C skins for it).
Personally though, my homescreen is TypoClock with four of the apps I use most (Facebook, Messaging, Music, and Faves.. not very professional, but whatever, I'm in high school ). And there's other widgets you can get to make it pretty, like Tajm and BattStatt are nice. If you have any Photoshop skill (or hell, even Paint), you should make a mock-up of what you actually want your homescreen to look like, that way we can give you more relevant suggestions.
And thanks for joining the Android army!
Get the signals23 themed launcher pro apk!! It looks very sleek & professional. You can find it in the ANDROID THEMES (not droid inc themes) section here on xda. Play around with desktop visualizer alongside various different icon sets. I share the same intent. I came from blackberry storm earlier this year and I would love a rom to be developed, that mimics the bbos, the same way miui rom from china mimics apple os4. I hate all the bb themes on the market right now. But I've become somewhat fulfilled with signals 23's launcherpro themed apk.
Oh and check out the "post your homescreen thread." See what you like here and there and get some inspiration.

Try "Slidescreen and Slidescreen Pro" in the market. They're home replacements and, imho, are very professional and clean looking. If you use all of the functions integrated it's even better. You can also try "Executive Assistant" which can be a widget for all of your info or a lockscreen replacement. Both are pretty professional looking.
EDIT* I'm not affiliated with either of these devs.. I just own both and enjoy the way they clean up the look of my phone.

Thanks for the kind words. People think I'm nuts for trying to mimic tf3d. They always say it looks too winmo, but they are missing the point. I love and miss tf3d. I am close to finishin a theme using LPP that will closely mimic tf3d. Stay tuned around these parts...

[THEMES] Themes by 404 ERROR (Zooper, WidgetLocker, Launchers)

Good day all,
Once this thread grabs some more attention, I will make a nicer and more readable introduction. But to those who are reading now, let me introduce myself.
One of the main reasons I love having an Android phone is its capability to be themed. However, as I was looking through the many themes, I noticed that none of them are quite what I am looking for. I decided to make my own themes to satisfy what I like.
Although, I am at best a Photoshop hobbyist and have absolutely no artistic capabilities nor any formal learning in this field, I sincerely hope you enjoy what I make.
Any comments, criticism, or discussion is appreciated!

Hollow is a dock-centric homescreen theme that is meant to be clean, simple, and flexible.
INFO:
The idea of Hollow first appeared when I realized the majority of the themes were very restrictive in their gridlines + choice of wallpaper. I wanted to make something that allowed more flexibility while staying eye-appealing. My answer to this was placing the good majority of the widgets into the dock. The dock contains everything you need, the desktop contains whatever else you want. Don't like the set up? Move the widgets to your own liking or even make your own widgets to match your personal tastes.

Standard and availability of themes in the UK

I've had my S6 almost from day 1. I'm a 40 something male in the UK and have yet to see a theme in the theme store I'd want to use. A few reasons why:
1) why in the UK do I only see free themes, where are the marginally better paid for themes that are advertised on the web ?
2) why are the themes largely aimed at children? pinks, gummy bears, carousels in pink?!?! for goodness sake Samsung give the more mature / grown up user a theme they won't be embarrassed to use !!
3) the themes that I would consider using at a push to alleviate the boredom of the default screen seem to largely have appalling icons. Are the theme developers all teenage kids ??
All I want is something "grownup", professional looking. Samsung why do you make it so hard for the more mature user ?!?!

Try Dark material theme from Cambunch which has stock Android icons or Weyo/Cherry Red themes from Hiten Soni.
U can always use 3rd party launchers like Apex or Nova launcher and use any kind of icon packs that suit you in the Play Store. 3rd party launchers are much better than stock S6 TW launcher!
That's what most of us

What is your favorite substratum theme?

I'm currently using inversion but it doesn't theme everything such as Google Messenger. So I'm looking for other themes that can possibly take it's place. TIA!

Picking a favorite theme for me is impossible, I like a lot of different ones for different reasons and just like the variety of changing them from time to time to not get sick of any one. However, the first link (below) is one I've been using a lot lately as well as its Black version as well, the second is newer and quickly becoming a new fave. There's a lot to choose from and different options to change the display within a lot of themes as well; it just comes down to personal taste. Here's a few I use most frequently:

Samsung theme policy is changing 9.0

This morning when I opened up Samsung theme i got the following message.
[Noticel Change of the Free
Theme Usage Period to Fourt...
Greetings from the Samsung Themes
management team.
We hereby inform you that the free
theme service policy is scheduled to
be changed starting with Android OS
9.0 (P OS).
Free themes will be usable for fourteen
days once applied and the Home
screen will automatically change to
the default Touchwiz theme (no theme
theme) when the usage period ends.
Before the Home screen is changed to
the default theme, we will provide two
prior notifications to help you change
the theme beforehand. ..
How do you guys feel about this?
In my opinion it's kind of stupid. The free themes are free for a reason. Some folks only post a free version of certain themes. So now what are they going to do? Force them into making a pair version for every free theme on the Galaxy app store

More like they're removing free themes, they'll all be paid ones now with a 14 day trial. My guess is Samsung is trying to get their cut from the developer themes sales, however small they may be.
And

Just another reason to root...
What a stupid move on Samsung's part... This may very well impact the sales of their phones.
Pity they are becoming an apple clone, they used to be a good company...
I think it is lot do with perhaps generating revenue from theming engine. Mind you there's a lot of poor themes there not to everyone's taste but at least you had fee choices
