Help! Screen popping out - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have always had my N6 in a basic spigen case, but noticed that one side is higher to the edge of the case than the other, I always thought it was the case. But the other day I looked a bit deeper and found that the screen is coming away from the body in the bottom right all the way up to the side buttons.
It is coming away from the thin black bezel as opposed to the coloured middle body. I first thought that maybe the LiPo was swelling and pushing it out (as it feels like it is forcing out as you can push it back down but springs straight back up again) so I took the back cover off and checked, the battery looks fine with no obvious puffyness.
So before I pull it fully apart to get at the screen:
How is the screen attached to that thin black bezel? Or, how is the screen adhered in place?
I have watched a few screen replacement videos but once they detach the screen from the middle body obviously they don't explain any further. I am hoping that the screen is adhered like the back panel so I can just clean and re-stick with new double sided tape.

Problems with Alpine touchscreen

Recently I added a screen protector to my Alpine, and after that the screen started acting funny any time it was left alone. Removing the screen protector has made no difference.
After a short while of not being used, the screen becomes misaligned, for example if I leave it off for an hour, attempting to activate the start menu on the today screen will result in one of the today items being pushed, or attempting to select a number on the password entry will result in a different number being pressed.
The strange thing is I can re-align the screen through the control panel, but it will slowly go back to the way it was.
Anyone got any thoughts? At worst, I'll just refund it (I bought it where I work, and thats no problem) and get another handset, but if theres a fix I'd prefer to stick with my current handset.

I am not sure about this, but I had the same problem with Motorola A1000 touch screen - could it be that an excessive pressure was applied to one of the sides of the digitizer during the application of screen protector? The digitizer is glued on the LCD, there might be a remote chance that it has slid a little to one side. Also some extra glue could have shortened the contacts on the bottom part of the digitizer. I would try to clean it first with some anti-static liquid. Hope this helps..
Indeed, this sounds like there could be more pressure to one side of the screen than the other, hence the digitiser tries to adjust for the pressure difference and gradually falls out of sync.
Try reapplying your screen protector, more gently than last time if possible, but don't wipe from side to side, wipe from top to bottom with an even pressure. Also, try realigning the screen with the protector off before reapplying it.
I had a problem with my screen originally before I got my screen protector, insofar as I got that 'rainbow' pooling effect in the centre of the screen where the digitiser was touching the LCD layer - after about a week after application of the screen protector, however, the more even layer of tension provided by the protector somehow pulled the digitiser away from the LCD layer, so my screen has actually gotten better since then... That said, I could imagine that uneven tension on the top layer could lift the LCD and digitiser layers further away from each other on one side than on the other, causing the problem you describe here. If you can bear to, try using the phone for a couple of days without the protective top layer applied, and see if the alignment gradually slips out as it's doing at the moment.
I've been using the phone for the past two days without the protective cover on. I'm going to reapply it now and then see how it goes tomorrow. If its still screwed, I'll reflash it to the O2 ROM and refund it at work on Tuesday.
Got a replacement, so no problem now. Thanks for the help anyhow

Theory on source of the screen lift issue and possible wedge fix

The washer fix resolved the screen lift issue for many, however I've noticed that something doesn't quite add up. Using the washer fix mysteriously resolves(or partially) the issue of a springy/spongy left screen and the creaks and popping noise. The theory was that the screws was too long and tightened too far with the ends of the screws pushing the glass screen out and pulling the plastic silver bezel back.
There isn't a reason to why the springy screen or strange noises was fixed and neither a reason to what the cause was. Besides resolving those issues some people found it hard to push the back cover back on and still have bulging back covers and also bulging silver bezel. You might get away with this issue by putting washers on the two centre screws and taking out the washer on the top part of the screen. I believe this worked because the height of the screws gets elevated with the washers and pushes against the back cover and denting and marking it in some cases. If you managed pop the cover back on the increased pressure from the screws makes the plastic tabs pull on the silver bezel and warping it (maybe).
I thought maybe the culpit of the screen lift might not simply be long screws. But I didn't understand how the washers fixed it. After looking at iFixit teardown pictures I saw something else that could push down on the LCD unit and onto the screen. On the second picture of step 12 I can see large cut outs in the metal frame and on the back side of the motherboard I can see taped components. I thought it might be possible that the taping left creases and air bubbles on the pcb and the bulging of the taped components looks like it can press on to the LCD unit directly underneath. The cause of the popping noise and sponginess came clear to me now. The popping noise comes from the tape being pressed against it (it could be glue from the screen/bezel too) and the sponginess is probably the PCB bending .
I think what the washers did was lifting both the metal frame and the pcb up and the taped components underneath didn't press against the LCD unit anymore. This created screw elevation for some people and back covers can't fit back easily as I mentioned.
I didn't want any screen lift, bulging back cover/bezel. I thought maybe I can lift the pcb up without putting washers in and I thought of just wedging the pcb against the metal frame right next to the screws. I don't recommend anyone to just try jamming stuff underneath the pcb without checking out the pictures and have a plan first. There are components underneath and please don't push anything too far in. I've tried putting plastic blister underneath the pcb in between 4 screws and next to the 4 pin connector. They are just longer rectangles by the way and I trimmed the ends in the same way as the washer method. However the screen still bulges a little around the centre where I can't put wedges because of the ribbon cable. The bulging back cover problem is completely gone however. I think I will try to put one washer for the screw above the ribbon cable, because I can see that the pcb has a screw hole right under the ribbon cable near that screw. This should lift the pcb a little around the centre. However I'm going to put a thinner washer as I don't want the screw to get elevated too much.
Anyone thinks this theory is rubbish, or have something to add?
EDIT: I report success! Instead of typing out the same thing I will show you with pictures. No idea if this fix will last, no guarantees. I still have a little sideways bulge but my N7 is so close to being perfect now. I don't think I will change anything else for now.

Warped case root-cause of screen lift?

I posted this in this thread, but I also wanted to post here to get feedback (agree/disagree) from others seeing the screen lift issue.
I've tried a few of the suggested fixes (shim, screw loosen/tighten, remove sponge, reheat glue) to fix my screen lift but the lift keeps coming back. On my device I can see a pronounced warp down the left hand side. Visible on both the screen frame and the plastic back case.
Removing the back case I see it warped on the left but straight on the right. I wonder if this is in fact the root cause of the lift. The warped case is applying force to the left side and the screen can't help but lift.
I've attached pictures to illustrate the issue. You can see (by the color of my fingertip) the amount of force I have to apply to press the left side flat. I think this is why the fixes are all temporary. The warped case will eventually win out against all fix attempts.
I actually don't want to RMA my device. I frankly can't be bothered to. However, if Google wants to send me a new back cover I'd happily accept it. I would imagine, though, that procedurally this would be problematic... you don't want customers taking the devices apart, it's unlikely they have cases lying about, and they have an RMA process in place that most likely is triggered by a clicking a single button on a form (least fuss).
Is anyone else seeing this warping?

[Q] screen protector question

I have experimented with various screen protectors on the Moto X. The one that I have on now covers the left side portion by the ear speaker. I have also seen screen protectors that purposely have this area cut out of the screen protector. I believe that this is where the light sensor is. I have been trying this screen protector out for a couple days (it is a anti-glare kind and is opaque) I have noticed that the active notifications don't come on as much...however, this may all be in my head. Curious if anyone else had tested this. See attached picture.
The screen protector I used ( Xtreme guard) has an extra area cut out to the left of the speaker, i guess for the proximity/light sensors..
and I don't have any issues with active notifications.. maybe you can cut it out?
That is the proximity / light sensor. Play with it when you're in a call - cover it up with your finger, and the screen goes off, remove your finger, and the screen comes back on. That's how your phone knows it's up to your face and to turn the screen off so you don't accidentally face dial. Some screen protectors don't affect it, others seem to. I don't doubt that your active notifications are funny if that piece is covered up. I had a tempered glass protector on that covered it. I had some issues with the screen not coming on when I took my phone away from the face to end the call. Sometimes active display would randomly turn on when the phone was sitting still on my desk. After I switched to a different brand that didn't cover it up, my problems went away.
Thank you for the info. I had a feeling that there was something up because it was acting a little random after putting that protector on. I don't think all companies really test their accessories on the phones they make them for...other than that they fit okay but not if they affect performance. Those test would take too much time. Funny thing is I got them from a Sprint store and they were $20 for two :/ . I found some, actually the exact one's Moto's sight selling, on Amazon for around six dollars something and they have a space cut out for that area.

Is your phone flat?

I use my x4 since october and today I discovered it isn't 100% flat. When I put the phone screen down on the table I can fell little moves on opposite corners. I carry my phone in the front pocket and try not to make any pressure on it. I do not overheat my phone either. I can not see any bent on sides, it looks fine. Anyone having this issue too?
I haven't taken my phone out of the box yet but it could be from the camera 'bump' in the middle.

"Flat" laying on screen. When you put your phone screen down and can't feel any moves, phone doesn't "swing" when you press any of its corners.
