Galaxy note 7 12mp camera ?? - T-Mobile Note 7 Questions & Answers

Doesn't the note 4 have a 16mp camera?? Why are they making a lower resolution for a 850.00 phone ?

I think it's because of it being water resistant? I'm not sure.

I was thinking about getting one due to an upgraded camera from the note 4 because my phone is my only camera and the note 4 takes some really great pictures but jeeez downgrading 4mp doesnt sound like much of an upgrade :/

The pixels are much bigger, it has better low light, and better focusing. There is no doubt it is a better camera, just a lower resolution.

See , I figured it had to be something like that . I couldnt imagine theyd be putting a worse camera in a freakin damn near 900 phone.

High mega pixels are over rated, for one. Simply not necessary. Just a selling ploy from way back. "Bigger/more is better" Not!
No one prints these out, so simply viewing them on the phone or pc does not require such a HUGE image file. And if you did print them out, at 16MP, they should be poster size. LOL. Many users don't understand this, so they fill their SD cards up quickly with these huge image files and need more SD cards, and larger hard drives. I've wondered for years when the madness would end.
I turn my settings to midway at best. Usually lower, unless I plan to print.

I am disipointing about the chanhe samsung made regarding to aspect ratio on max resolution. Note 4 had 16/9 and now note 7 has 4/3. I dont understand why samsung bad to change a good thing. 4/3 is awefull on the wide screen on a laptop on a slideplay cause is onlu show 75% of screen.

16:9 is cropped 4:3 when it comes to photography.

Yea them sony phones have 21 mega pixel and they suck.. the note 7 has same camera as s7 which is the best camera phone u can buy, the apature is higher therfore no need for more than 12mp, note 4 has 1.3 or 1.4 lens apature I think. Note 7 is 1.7 aperture dual pixel auto focus.. but I don't take a lot of pics, I'm disappointed in the processor.. it's just a s7 with an spend and dual edge screen.. should of had 6gb ram too! BOO!

This thread does not belong here. It belongs in the Note 7 forum not the Note 4!
This has nothing to do with the note 4 other than you are comparing it to the note 4.
TL;DR Incorrect forum.
Go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-note-7/help

Moved to T-mo Note 7 forum as it compares against Note 4.

From the specs, the resolution of Note 7 camera is lower, but the performance of the camera has improved. Galaxy Note 7 used the same camera sensor as Galaxy S7 edge, and just optimize the camera app operation.

And an FYI, although it is 12 MP, it is also dual pixel so it will get better low light and about double pixels (think 24 mp)

I had the S7 Edge for a few weeks and the camera is better than the Note 5 I have. The big difference is in low light settings and that is where you really see the difference. The one thing I did not like as much was the aspect ratio. It just doesn't seem right to take the pictures full screen but when viewing them they are not full screen. That is the only thing that I wish was different with the camera but now we just have to crop the pics to use them as backgrounds on widescreen devices. I would rather have the better picture quality over aspect ratio but it would have been nice if we could have had both.

More pixels doesnt equal better photos. For years iphone out shot tons of android phone with 12 and 16 mp and never had to break 8mp to do it
Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk

samsung knows that there doing.
I had the note 3, note 4 edge and s7 edge. The s7 edge has the best camera and the note 7 is suppose to use the same camera.
So there is no doubt that the note 7 camera will be better then the note 4.
and more pixels dont always mean a better picture.
I learn this long time ago. I had big megapixel camera that took flat wash out photos. While my lower pixel cameras took way better photos.

My wife just bought a Sony Camera for $200. The point is its 22MPs...The Note 4 takes better pics and is less and the Note 7 is less than that ans takes even better. ... there's a lot more variables than the number of megapixels

Is there any zoom feature on the Note 7? I've looked at all the you tube videos and haven't been able to find anything.

Russian Galaxy Note 4 Exynos review online

First real review is now online, use google translates to translate the page. Seems okay, the camera is maybe a notch better than the S5's in daylight, definitely in the dark its much better over the S5. Not sure about the OIS, I would like to see the LG G3 4k Vs the Note 4's, I have a feeling the 2nd gen OIS on the G3 will be slightly better than Samsung's first OIS camera.
The review:

The Note 4 camera is much better than on the S5 - it's very obvious when you look at the high-res photos, but even just the bloom on the S5 in the night shots is gone with the Note 4.
OIS looks amazing too!
What I thought was really interesting is the side-by-side comparision of the screen on the Note 3 vs the Note 4 - that quad HD is noticeably better in the closeup.
I can't see any difference in the day shots but it is definitely better in low light. I really want to see how the note compares to the iphone 6 and 6 plus. It is also nice to see the note kicking the iphone's butt on the geekbench scores.

The S5 has very "muddy"details and the Note 4 looks much cleaner with more detail. Look at 100% and you'llyou'll see it no problem.
The review also mentions that there is no delay in the night shot on the Note 4 when it has to apply the noise reduction pass. I'd imagine the OIS helps the Note 4 too.
If the Note 4 is as nice as the Samsung Alpha it will be well worth the wait

Seems the one error in the review is stating the chipset is 20nm. The 805 is still 28nm, but some of the cellular tech is now 20nm.
Unless this review is for the Ex chip. I do not know the fab size for that.

Note 4 Exynos Review
Another Russian review is up for Samsung SM-N910C Exynos variant from HI-TECH.MAIL. What I gathered through google translate is: 1) Best Screen 2) Excellent camera , Sony module with Samsung Isocell technology (!?) 3) Exynos supports LTE-A CAT6 4) Battery same or a little bit worse than Note 3 5) Speaker a little bit better the Iphone 6 ,Note 3 but nothing spectacular here, 6) Strong CPU performance better than SD 805 but GPU is worse than Adreno 420 at least on Manhattan+T-REX gpu tests/scores, no heat problems even in demanding situations

I read that review, but I think we have to wait for more batterylife tests. They did the test with full brightness which is higher compared to GN3. This same site also mentioned that Galaxy Alpha did 11hrs of video playback in their tests, which I never found anywhere else. Also their benchmark number for GFXbench was quite different from other result we saw. Maybe just a firmware issue or improper results.

Haha.
When she placed the Note 4 next to her face, I was like "Whoa! Big Phone!"
Then a sec later another thought followed up, "Hm... must be a petite lady!"
I owned a Note 3, so I'm aware of its size
Looks like Note 4 can display better white vs Note 3 from that first Russian review. And zoomed-in text still looked sharp when Note 3 was looking pixelated. Can't wait!

Note 8 Camera

Hi Guys
I’ve recently shifted from OnePlus 3 to Note 8 and I use an iPhone 6S as a secondary phone.
I like everything about the phone but I feel that the camera is not satisfactory. I feel that my iPhone 6S is giving me better clicks than the Note 8
I don’t use any filters and everything is set to automatic on both the devices.
Does any other user have this same feeling?
My daughter has an iphone 6 and a 7 plus, and I can tell you for sure, that my note 8 beats both of them easily
I have to agree with you.
I've come from the Huawei Mate 9 Porsche Design and find that the pictures using that are in another league - especially moving pictures.
I'm not very happy with the camera on the note but I'm not sure there is anything can be done, is there?
The camera is better but maybe try the Pixel Camera Mod? I've been using that and have noticed photos come out a little bit better compared to the stock camera app.

10bit or 8bit display

hi guys I'm thinking of upgrading from my note 10 plus just a question is the display 10bit like some are saying as ive been on the sony website and its saying the same as it did for the xperia 1from last year 10bit 8bit with 2bit software or something
Just asking as the oneplus 8pro is supposedly 10bit in total
Thanks
I don't know, but 4k HDR looks absolutely amazing!
It will be 10bit as it supports bt2020 and over billion colours.

It is 8+2 bit just like oneplus.
It's really an 8bit display,
I also switched from Note 10 plus to this phone and love it so far! Screen is so crisp and colors are dead accurate in pro mode
Sony adverts it as a 10bit Display (8+2). And yes, the screen is the best part of this device.
Same as last year. It's 8bit with smoothing. It's not like 10bit. It's more like an in between.
So does the phone actually support 1 billion colors or is it like a 16m display?
Really tempted to trade in my note 10 plus for it bit I've also heard that the cameras arnt all that good either ?
Also another question does the display get bright when viewing hdr as ive heard that sony turned down the brightness of the display from the xperia 1 which I thought it wasn't bright enough then
Thanks

Keep the note 10+.
The Xperia is still lacking in alot of areas, battery, display brightness, fixed front camera, little things like that don't add up to $1200.
When it drops to around $800-US then it'll be closer to it's worth.
It's just not worth it, no matter how beautiful it is when the experience is worse.

I come from Note 10 plus and not looking back. Vanilla Android UI is much nicer than One UI. i also missed flat screen. Camera is for sure better on 1 ii if you think when you take photos. I did side by side comparison of front camera and it's comparable to Note 10. At the end of the day, 1 ii is not for Instagram kind of folks other than this, superb phone

Well I've ordered it through o2 UK so have 14 days to see if I like it over my note 10 plus :good:
How you finding the display and speakers over your note @mehdi_s82
Well got bothy note 10 plus and xperia and playing some hdr via YouTube and considering people saying the xperia display is dim its getting as bright as my note 10 when playing hdr videos

Have had no problem with the display outdoor at all. It doesn't match super bright note when sunlight hits it but def as bright as OnePlus 8 and way brighter than Pixel. So whoever says its "dim" doesn't have enough data points to compare. Speakers are more clear and sound louder to me since front firing. Overall, so happy that I have a flagship with flat screen. Had Pixel in the past but they always had hardware issues and crappy display.
Thanks just another question the 10 bit display does it work all the time in both standard and creator mode or is it just in creator mode?
Thanks
Hi guys does the creator mode need to be selected for the 10 bit color or is it walkways active?
Only asking as I normally have it on standered but will change it if so
Thanks

Pixel 5 v Samsung S20 +

Anyone got any true comparison to the camera quality of these 2 phones ? I've always had Pixels literally from the Pixel 2 onwards but I'm not convinced with the camera innovation on the Pixel 5 in fact if anything I'm finding the pics rather dull even compared to my 4XL and my 3XL.
Compared to my wife's Note 20 5G my P5 takes way better photos. I have tested both side by side. I think the cameras are similar on the S20fe and Note 20.
Not to mention the P5 has a far superior OS and better update support.

Are the Samsung pics oversaturated etc as normal ?
Not really but you can tell they look different. I prefer how the P5 pics come out
i have s20+ and p5. samsung still sucks in the camera department. about 1/5 photos from my s20 look "pretty" good. they just can't get processing right.
my p5 always takes amazing photos.
there is no contest.

Question pixel 7 or pixel 7 pro

Hello, I want to buy a new phone, I had a Samsung s21 ultra but got a hardware problem now I'm trying to buy a new phone and experience a different brand.
I did some simple research and I saw the difference is only 120HZ and screen size, is there any else noticeable that I should buy a pixel 7 pro?

Are photo/video quality or camera ability important to you?
Pixel 7 Pro has telescoping lens and better ultra-wide lense...
Not really, i like to take photos sometimes but camera is not mandatory for me

I'm not exactly sure in terms of internals (system board, SoC, etc.), but other than screen size, Hz, camera hardware, one step higher storage capacity, a bigger battery (but still has a comparatively-to-other-flagships significantly lower SOT), and more RAM -- those are probably the major differences, so if those aren't a priority and/or aren't worth the price difference....
What did it for me was the size. Pixel 7 in 6.3 inches diagonal, already a bit too large for my taste. Pixel 7 is 6.7 inches diagonal. How big of a phone do you want to carry around all day? Also, the pro has a curved screen, the 7 has flat edges.
I also compared the two phones - I did not find any other differences. Is there a big difference in price?
