I think there is a app in the market that might help with dead pixels.... Idk if it actually works but its worth a try... it flashes different colors on the screen that are supposed to help fix them....

Is it me or does the spacebar look the size of an invisible ant? It's so tiny.. @ 4.06
Yeah it does but remember he's on the browser, so the ".com" button is taking up some space too. I bet without it, it looks great

Tried Googling too see if I can download got nothing. Pulled it from a Samsung rom, and kept getting fc.

looks like a nice keyboard for sure
we may never get to see this Keyboard. ='(
I saw this keyboard in action from my cousin's GS2 from Korea. It's insane. I can type on it all day at probably 95% accuracy. With my stock gingerbread keyboard, I'd be lucky to hit 80%
i really hope we can get a dev to port this for us NS4G users.
id really like to give it a try lol
Here's the link to the apk that i grabbed from somewhere else, i've pushed it to system/apps and changed permissions but not it's working, maybe it needs the touchwiz framework?

Galaxy gear...to get or not

Is it worth it? Would be nice at work if I didn't have to pull my note 3 out every time I get a text or email....I receive 50-100 texts a day. Any info would be excellent....thx in advance

With great respect only you can answer that. The online operating manual is now available for the Sony site. I would suggest you go read it and see if it will perform what you expect of a smart watch or not. Ones mans trash is another mans gold etc..........
Regards.
Thanks...you are correct about what "I" expect from the device. As long as it sends all my texts and emails I'll be good. I work in a dirty factory and hate pulling out my phone

I have it and its ok you can see the text but you cant answer text and you cant respond to text like other smart watches i might return it after a week, theres not many apps either im kinda disappointed
You can reply to anything using s-voice no on-board keyboard. Loving this thing so far and the phone is a big improvement over the note2 (and I loved that phone too).
Absolutely room for improvement and not many apps.. yet. Patience people.

The SMS and Email notifications work great on Gear.
Gmail and Facebook notifications need to work like the above two to be useful and they aren't yet.
Gear seriously needs a calculator app, including a tip calculation function. It's mind boggling that they didn't include one already.
It would also be nice to have a compass function but not sure whether it can support that or not.
can you share a picture taken from great and upload straight to Facebook

Not from the Gear directly, but you can quite easily transfer to the smartphone and then, share from the phone.

its growing on me but it needs playstore access its so good but its bad. the speaker phone is unbelievable the viewing of text is great and this is the best s voice i ever used and i hate s voice, but the bad is the apps the apps is horrible. it needs three things 1. the ability to answer a text with a built in keyboard. 2. Play store access. 3. micro sd slot. If I could get 1 and 2 Ill be happy other than that Im probably going to return it based on google announcement on oct 31

Zite

Just a heads up...my favorite news app, Zite, is available for the gear now. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem that useful. It displays the title and a picture of a few of your top stories but you can not read any of the content. A 'read it on your device' button will bring up the story on your phone. It is very nice to look at, at least.
Thanks. It's one of my favorites too. The gear app only shows headlines, but it's still nice to see known vendors coming to the gear

So what you want exactly?? Read the whole story on your watch??? Really??
I think you all got the wrong idea what this watch is.. It is a companion accesory. So the Zite app does exactly what it needs to do. Keeping you from getting your phone out of your pocket for everything. Maybe without the watch you will grab your phone 10 times but 4 times there is nothing to read. But you scrolled and you screen lit up. So those 4 times you can leave your phone in your pocket cause you can see the headlines on your watch and pich precisley what you want to see.

Can you help me understand exactly what the Zite app does then? So far, as I can tell, it brings up one story when you launch it and that is it. You touch the screen and it takes you to the app. Are there other functions?
It shows you the headlines... You can swipe from right to the left to see the headlines if you see a good one press it. And it will open in the Zite app on your phone. Less bigscreen lit up so better battery on phone.... Less anyoing phone zombies lol..

Ah the swipe was not working before.. More useful now that I can see multiple articles. I would actually read some of these on the watch if it was supported.

Gear showing Picture ID on phnoe call

I just saw a Samsung add on FB and it showed a gear getting a call with picture ID. does anyone know if the Gear can do this or is it good Photoshop on the add.
Yes as long as you have a picture set for the person that is calling you there picture will show on the watch.

Not that I know of. When I set my watch up the first phone call I got had a picture of the person calling. Do any of the pictures you have set up already show up on your phone screen when the person calls?

Ah man another thing doesn't work for me. Guess it's because I am using my gear with a nexus 5. Mine doesn't even show the persons name. Just the number.

Pictures do work on the watch. It seems to be sporadic IMO. I havent really paid attention to the pattern. I dont know if its a resolution issue or if the pic has to be linked to a certain account on the phone or what. The Samsung kiosk in Best Buy in my area was useless. I knew more about the watch than they did.

you seem to be overreacting. he simply asked how contact pictures works. there is absolutly nothing with using gear with other devices. as it has been stated before, not all functions work.

Sorry if I sounded rude. It is just that if he knows the Gear doesn´t get full functionality with his Nexus, then why is he wondering why he doesnt get caller id and photo.... It is pretty obvious it is for lack of compatibility.
In my case, installing all apks on my htc one (except weather and music, obiusly),extracted from gear manager apk i can see the names of my contacts when they call me. I haven't photos with my contacts to try it

Thank you both for useful posts / help! I re installed the apks from gear manager 1.5 and now works - I have caller ID and photos.
I think I must have missed one apk when installing the first time.
Now to try ang get notifications to work.
