Cheers, People

It's so fast, i can't even see it.

I will, as soon as some good soul builds a pure stock AOSP ROM, without any modifications (root, busybox, zipalign, deodex, etc).
Just flash a stock Gapps ontop of it, and it will feel like an official Google update. Oh god yes.

As soon as the source code is uploaded to AOSP, I'm sure it'll rain custom N roms here.

Since google hasn't released the source code, wait and see

Do we know when the source code comes out?

This thread is unnecessary considering there is no official/unofficial ROM available. So no one can share their experience.
BUTTTT... as i go through my android feeds, i miss the experience of flashing the latest build of Android on N5 and play around with it. The sense of excitement of having the latest version on my phone where as the remaining phones around are still running the old version. Now, im still running an old version (Marshmallow)

Pardon my ignorance, but, if someone builds from AOSP without modifying anything, and apply the device drivers from the Nexus images website, what's to be wrong?
Isn't that what Google does, besides loading Gapps package altogether?

Yeah, there's that. Luckily Nexus 6 uses a Snapdragon 805 chip, so the devs should be able to adapt to the 800.

nope, it is quite a bit different.
what will be done is use MM drivers until they dont work, then we will use CAF drivers(since the msm8974 branch on there will still be updated for n+)

Android 4.4 Source being released

Here we go again, gentlemen start your engines...
Android 4.4 Source
Source is now being pushed to the AOSP trees. Of course, when it is all there we will begin the process of figuring out what changed, needs work, and/or is no longer feasible or needed.
We are not in a rush to get 4.4 builds out . We are going to continue the process of working on CM 10.2 M1 - getting that out the door and onto your devices. Further, we will 'finish' the 10.2 code base, similar to what we did with 10.1.
As a friendly reminder, please don't flood us with requests for 4.4 - we all want new and shiny things, but we will not do so at the expense of abandoning the hard work our contributors have put into 10.2.
Final note, a lot of folks are reading into the "512mb" item on the release notes. No, this does not mean a sudden resurrection of older hardware, there are dependencies beyond the RAM (and CM has enforced that minimum since ICS).

The website says it is a feature of 4.4.. I am not sure if it would require dedicated hardware or leverage off the accelerometer. An accelerometer measures vertical acceleration, a pedometer simply counts these measurements (from my understanding)

I've compiled ROMs for my old 2011 samsung budget phone, not that hard to compile, and there's plenty of guides to go by, once you get it set up and a full build (first build takes an hour or two) you gotta debug and test which for me is hard as heck lol, hopefully well see ROMs by next week

It's not that bad, a lot of the hard work is made into Python scripts. It takes FOREVER to compile; however, I never got SU working on my own builds.

I do usually, just stock roms, 4.3 had so many issues so I didn't share. If 4.4 goes smoothly I'll package and share the .zip
i feel like 4.4 will have some initial issues....
i was hoping for a nice factory image from google, WHAT HAPPENED!
Rom can compiled without kernel sources and binaries??

(Tablet UI lol)
Overview
MIUI-v6 (It's called this in MiCode so I'm going with V6) ported to MSM8960.
Thing is it's awfully ****ed up looking due to it's tablet interface so this is going to take a little bit of work probably.
Working
-Torch
-Data (4G on boot <3 you guys)
-Mounting
-Recorder
-Music
Not working
- Launcher layout
- Dialer (Xiaomi didn't make it LOL)
- ???
WARNING
HEAVILY EXPERIMENTAL, will require a metric fkton of tweaks to become a daily driver most likely I am only posting this to show love and for observation purposes.
Download:
MIUI-v6: Alpha-0.01
PS: It's in tablet UI and prolly all ****ed up but herewegook
Will it be just for XT926 or unified - for all moto_msm8960 devices?

Ok I uploaded this, It's pretty incomplete and exists ONLY for people who are curious; this cannot be used as a daily driver; a lot hasn't been translated and the UI is totally mangled because of resolution differences.
This is only for people who are curious about the general direction MIUI is going in, it will not be pleasant or beautiful; minds will not be blown using this firmware a lot of work has to happen still

I'm also working on V5 for 4.4 as well too but I'm going to make another topic for it; this is V6 officially even though it is rough looking
Nice!
But how did you ported that? Did you have a script or a tutorial for me to follow? Cause I want to try to port roms from the Galaxy S4 to this phone ( like the MIUI V5, I know you did a topic about but I still want to try ).

Any progress to report?
Basically I don't take money for developing because I do it for me, in the spirit of that I've decided to direct all my attention onto the only device I own since doing work for other devices really does not benefit me
I would like to do work on S5 TouchWiz, Sense 6. I want to work on interesting firmware that is challenging and this has almost become an art project at this point since at a code level everything mostly works. I have to admit I wasn't really prepared for that.
So pretty much if you folks have seen any firmware of interest let me know in PM and I will try to bring it to the MSM8960 tree
In regards to this I really can't give an ETA, I'd frankly rather just work on something else
Than you for the hard work anyway. You've been trying to get this stable as new versions approach for awhile now. I don't blame you for taking a breather... I must say I have to light you up with a donation for all the time and effort from previous versions... I got you.. Thanks again

Read back in the thread a few pages - 1) GeoHot works for Google now. Hired to find and close exploits like the one towelroot used to root devices; 2) towelroot used a specific vulnerability in kernels dated before June 3. If your kernel is dated after June 3, the vulnerability has been patched and there is nothing GeoHot can "fix" to make towelroot work on your device; and related to that 3) either your phone has the vulnerability or it doesn't and towelroot either works to root your device or it doesn't and there is nothing GeoHot can do to fix towelroot to make it work for your device. Plus, like I said before GeoHot works for Google now so he can't create programs or apps that root phones by exploiting vulnerabilities he is supposed to now be fixing. Now that this same question has been answered for the 1,000,000th time in this thread, can we please get it closed?

Look on the bright side. We needed CM and other AOSP variants in the past because most devices performed like crap. Now while not as smooth as stock Android, still rather speedy. Customization can be done with xposed mods.
Even if stuck on stock, it's not really that bad, to be honest.
You guys need to start learning something... for the sake of development...

No, I'm with you. I don't flash AOSP ROMs. I'm just afraid of not being able to upgrade to a stock, rooted TouchWiz Android L ROM.
But you're right, Samsung has put in the work and optimized TouchWiz over the years. I have no complaints with the performance.

At least you had the 3G model and official JB (Asia only) . My Wi Fi model was thrown into the dung heap by Samsung after less than 12 months and no official JB or support theater.... Thanks to bodivas for the initial port to the P6810, I could then work from there with newer contributions.
They just ignore the GPL license to support devices for at min of 18 months. There are other OEM that refuse to provide full source too. What does Google do, nothing....
The only way is as you implied, to be proactive and help ourselves (and others) where skill/knowledge and time permit
Good modding !!
More than one way to skin a cat also....
I think they will have support for android L since the specs of the tab S match the requirements of the OS
it's easier for samsung to develop android L for exynos device . i hope my tab will have android L teeheehee
On which webpage provide SAMSUNG there (patched) opensource?
At least recovery image include binary which can't compiled from android source...

This is an Official Port of FlymeOS for the Samsung Galaxy S5. Many other devices will be supported by me as they get developed. But, for now there will be only two devices, Grand Prime and Galaxy S5. These devices seem to be the main phones people use now-a-days because of their customization. Our website is based off from Meizu's website, so there isn't confusion on what you, the user, is downloading.
About the Creator, what makes this "Official?"
Code:
I, Slenderman8090, am known for developing ROMs for multiple devices. A(n) developing
agent from Meizu's Flyme Operating System Development team had noticed that I had been
building Flyme ROMs for multiple devices, and asked if I wanted to be a volunteer at their
team, clearly I said yes, because I did not want to miss an opportunity to develop software.
What is FlymeOS?
Code:
[B][U]FlymeOS[/U][/B] is a(n) operating system created by a Chinese
Telecommunications company known as Meizu. This OS is known for being simple,
yet sleek, when it comes to looks. This device is supported by thousands of devices,
as well as their-own branded Smartphones.
Estimated time:
Code:
Since this version of FlymeOS is in early development and testing,
this could take quite a while. While you wait, why not try other options
such as LineageOS or MIUI (If supported on your device.)
Download:
Code:
You can find the download link (once released) at our
website [URL="http://flymeosofficial.tk"]http://flymeosofficial.tk[/URL]
Want FlymeOS to be built quicker for your device?
Code:
If you are willing to help develop FlymeOS as a group of individuals.
You can get this operating system developed faster, and be able to have an official
OS. The instructions can be found [URL="https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzYtmgtRzB_Ad05zSXh5aENLYkk/view?usp=sharing"]here[/URL]
Software that will be required:
Code:
[LIST]
[*]Android 5.0+ Firmware
[*]Non Dual-Sim Device
[*]Qualcomm Device (No Exyphos Processor aka International Version)
[/LIST]

If you can't tell there is a Discussion mark in the title until the rom is actually released. The Grand Prime version is being built while S5 is being second handily developed.

Yes I saw that. I have a couple of builds on my PC. I installed (flyme_SM-G9008W_ddfzl_6.7.12.29R-beta) on my device lastnight. Worked very well except I had no mobile data. Device ran a little warmer than usual.

G900I
After using 6.7.12.29R Beta build with Gapps Pico and Magisk for a day, I'm quite impressed with the rom.
Besides no rotation and being a little hungry on battery it is smooth and responsive.
BT works great. No problem with WIFI and data (after the fix).
Overall a basic rom but fun to use. Backed up to my favourites file :good:

It is truly fun to use yeah. I had a fix for rotation too. Not sure If I'd be able to locate it again.
If I do, would you still want it?
