can we look forward to rooting or not? - T-Mobile Note 7 Questions & Answers

Hey I'm just curious, I know the device is pretty new but I just wanted to know the progress on rooting the T-Mobile note 7 if there is any progress.

I thought I've heard from a bird in the sky of a possible sprint exploit that was found? I'm on my phone right now...will search for it later.

save yourself the waiting and don't expect one. Then if there is one you have a nice surprise.

Lol I guess when you think of it like that. But I have faith, we always get root no matter the obstacle

If it takes longer than a week to achieve root there'll be at least 50 threads asking the same thing. Search is a hard thing.

question about vz and sprint 4.2.2

so since vz has the 4.2.2. and is cdma, would it be save to assume it would be a port to sprint or do we still have to wait until sprint releases?

Even if it cant, Jason Mackenzie of HTC claims the company wants to release 4.3 by the end of September on all variants (not just dev edition) so it wont be too much longer.

So no disrespect but in all the HTC statements I've seen I have only read that they "hope" or "plan" to have it out before the end of September and one critical piece of info was never said.... September of what year...
Sorry but I am still hopeful that the Vzn release will give the devs what they need to at least move the Sprint device forward with updated roms just in case there are "delays"...

Yeah, since the VZW phone drops today, I'm wondering how long (rather, how quick) it will be before the devs get a hold of it and rip out the source! It's days like this that make me wish I had the time and knowledge for coding.

very sad to see so many people talking s**t about the note 4.
It might not be a huge difference from note 3 but is definitely a big upgrade from my note 2.
I think everyone expect to have extreme changes in the devices every year and that is not possible anymore.
I think now the upgrade should be every 2 years.

Someone told me that if you get the TMO version it won't have a locked bootloader, and can be usedon ATT. I'm not sure if this is true, but considering going that route.

Verizon :/ I really am getting tired of it from them tbh. I buy the phone, why should they lock the bootloader. (Yes, I know there are reasons, but still) they are not leasing the phone to me, You buy the device and use it on their network.I am paying for a service. That's just how I look at it.

I sure understand that thought. But I also understand the carriers not wanting to warranty phones that we hose trying to mess with them.
It's probably too much effort to position themselves to offer an unlock code for the bootloader, which would cost 'loss of warranty'. If they don't have to warranty them, then why should they care?

probably because so many people lie when they call for warranty service, saying they dont know why their phone suddenly "stopped" working..
Now, what could be done, is to sell an unlocked phone/boot loader, NO WARRANTY AT ALL, and see how many folks buy that model...
Not many I bet..

The vulnerability of towelroot was patched on all kernels deployed after 6th June.
It has very less chances of working.

Like XDA But On Steroids

Hello everyone,
I've been pondering over some project to divert my time on and well recently I've begun to notice the somewhat unorganized mess XDA has become. So I thought of the fabulous idea of creating a new website made strictly for ROMs, Kernels, Rooting, & Unlocking Bootloaders. The website would have separate sections for each device, then differing versions of the device, then for android version, and then finally for type of development. For example AT&T Galaxy S3 CM12 rom would be found under Galaxy S3>AT&T>Lollipop>Roms>Cyanogenmod 12.
Get it? Super organized, super easy to find things.
What do you guys think? Is this something worth investing my time in? Or should I just give u on this little project? Be brutally honest please. After all there is no point on building a website that nobody will ever use.
More steps but easier finds. Nice.
Sounds good, especially if you can get support from xda.
CyanogenMod 11 listed under jellybean ROMs?
Your biggest issue is people dont really leave xda. Developer wise most are keen to stay here because support and friends are here i imagine. Also logistically trying to support even half the phones xda does and have it so organised into just what the phones are compatible with, along with paired Q&A + general threads would be immensely time consuming and would require more than a few people to keep up with the flow. Not even considering user mistakes with roms added in the wrong forum. While it would be a good idea i wouldnt attempt it. The mods are always willing to listen to new ideas to help keep the forums tidy though. Maybe try help out closer to home?

Use the version you develop. Clearly that doesn't exist yet
Same thing every android release. It'll be out after the official release, and source code drops. Don't know how long it will take, but it'll get there. We had a very long wait for 5.0 because of massive changes, not to mention that every time he got it working on one dev version, it was broken as heck on the next dev version, so we just have to wait and see. Hope that explains it well enough. Better than a "When it's ready", or "none" answer everyone always gives.
The Nexus images are now live so I would guess the source won't be far behind it. Can someone comment on the number of changes to ART compared to Lollipop. From the surface it seems that Marshmallow should be 5.2 and not 6.0 but maybe all the changes are under the hood.
It is coming:
rovo89:
"In framework version 74, I have fixed some more incompatibilities which could lead to bootloops or crashes. I assume that most of these crash logs contained the string "Incompatible set properties", which is actually a consequence of previous method verification errors. It's hard to say which ROMs and devices were affected - but flashing the new version shouldn't hurt even if everything looks fine with older versions. If you do notice any issues and are sure that it's not caused by yourself, you have higher chances of getting them fixed if you open a detailed GitHub issue (usually I will need at least a full logcat).
I won't be able to work on Xposed for the next 2-3 weeks - no time for development, support or questions at all. If the rumors I have read are right, I should be ready just in time to start porting Xposed to M."

Remember, the reason why it took so long for an official version for android 5.0 was because lollipop uses ART environment and xposed whas always made for dalvik originally.
So I think it will take less time now.

Really looking forward to having Xposed available on Marshmallow. Donated 5 euros to the cause. :good:
I hope he's serious about the shorter timeframe.... I'm not sure how art differs.... He claims it's simpler than dalvik so... Just keep us nexus owners updated please. If this thread is what to watch.... Great. Otherwise link please.

I haven't been able to find it, only snarky comments from users here about how its obviously not done. I have checked all the stickeys in this forum as well as the development one...
I doubt you will get much info on progress, as users tend to hold any claims against developers... But I would have though there would be something official saying "its in progress" to try and help stop the inquiries.
Oh well, will be a nice surprise when it drops.
