Android 7.0 ROM For Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 (T-715) - Galaxy Tab S2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I have recently purchased Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 (T-715) and rooted it. Few days back android 7.0 has released and I want to upgrade my tablet to android 7.0. It is not possible to upgrade from "About Device" menu as it gives error:
The operating system on your device has been modified in an unauthorized way. Try downloading software update using Smart Switch on your computer or visit a customer service center.

Last year same thing happened with my Nexus 7 and then I downloaded the rom and manually upgraded it. Now I want to do the same thing for my Samsung tablet but I am unable to find the rom.
Kindly guide me that from where I can download android 7.0 rom for my tablet?
Regards

Lol, you will probably never see android 7 on your device...
It's only available for nexus and the Pixel c for the moment.
And samsung will release it just for a few models.
Galaxy tab s2 may not be one of these

Its a bad news
Is there any general version of which can be downloaded and installed? like in linux kernels we have a "vanila" version which is originally released without any patches etc.

That's not true. As SamMobile published some times ago, our sm t-715 it's likely to be updated to the latest android version 7.0. Same as the other variants. There are no official informations though, but we will see in the future what happens. Personally by one side i think that our tab has the right specs to be updated, on the other side i'm afraid about two things:
1) Samsung could be lazy and forget a relatively new and high spec device to be updated
2) Developement community isn't very populated and every version of Android Nougat that will be out unofficially (if one there will ever be) will broken fingerprint support and Mobile network on LTE variants.
P.s i'm very sorry, i wish to link you to the article i saw on internet but i cannot fin it, very sorry.

Realistically, I think we will all be waiting somewhere between 6 months to 1 year, IF this tablet gets Android 7 at all.
If not, its a case of waiting for a custom rom.
If you wanted instant updates, you should have bought the Pixel C, (as the Nexus 9 is rubbish.)

tab s1 has just got android 6 so maybe there is hope for s2 and 7

I have two questions:
1. Are custom roms safe?
2. If you find any custom rom, will you post link here?
Thanks

No, never use a custom rom. All veterans here on XDA know only the North Koreans publish custom roms in hopes of tricking a newbie to download it so they can hack your computer.
If you have a friend that is using a custom rom on their phone please block there phone number if it is not too late, as a phone call from them will affect your phone as well.

[Q] [i9001] Android update policy

This news is kinda old but i wanted to share it with you guys.
http://www.best7android.com/2011/05/new-android-update-policy-gives-users.html
Does this also apply for our i9001? If so, samsung needs to update our device.
(Sorry for my bad English)
Applies to galaxy s, galaxy s plus, galaxy w, galaxy advance, galaxy sl as well.

Yes and no.
Yes: we have already checked it on custom/unofficial builds.
No: Samsung already said it for i9000 at least.
Sure I'd like to have the newest Android onboard my Galaxy S but I doubt we can win with them...
As this is 9001-specific, here's your answer: Samsung has already released the successor of our beloved device, the Galaxy S Advance. So they think it's not necessary to update an outdated device. Go and buy a new one. That's what Samsung would like you to do.
And you could read this XDA portal article: http://www.xda-developers.com/andro...ts-regarding-18-month-upgrade-push-by-google/

[Q] Official Kitkat 4.4

Hey guys,
Anyone knows when the official stock android 4.4 update for the i9305. A leaked samsung document said it would roll out in may, but it's july and i still don't have the update.
I know i could flash an custom rom but every 4.4 ROM i try has really annoying battery drain (i flashed CM11, omni, carbon, LS) so if anyone has an idea, please tell me! And if there's anyone with a battery-friendly 4.4 rom, please tell me!
Sorry for my bad english BTW.

Well to start off with, Australia only got 4.3 on the I9305T in the last few months.. NC1 is still 4.3.
The reason it's not on the list is because that's a list of approved/completed updates.
The I9300 was probably cancelled as it doesn't support the Knox Bootloader.
The I9305 does support Knox, so it's fair to assume they will release 4.4.2+ for us at some point.
Until Samsung release some official information on it, enjoy 4.3!
KitKat update for S3 LTE is ready. It's only matter of preparing (add own bloatware) by carriers. Some of them already rolled it out. Search google for: "When will my device receive the latest KitKat" - should be first link on samsung site.

Thanks bro, i hope it's reliable and we'll get it
Once it gets released, we just have to wait for someone to un-knox it, so that 4.1.2 bootloader users will be able to use it...
By the way, what are the new features that it will have over the tw 4.3 jb???? (Apart from the ugly battery icon!!!)
Eagerly waiting for the update. I believe SG I9305 will get 4.4 soon. It's about time.

It's about the issue with RAM. KitKat was designed for 512MB RAM devices but unfortunately KitKat with TouchWiz needs 2GB and that's why only i9305 will have this update.
Theres no kit kat for us... I regret so much having bought this phone. Damn exynos chip!

Redmi Note Indian Thread [Pricing, Availability, Reviews, Support and more]

Hello XDAers,
Since there is an Indian thread in almost every device forum, I thought I would create one for the Redmi Note since it's already launched in India and sales begin from December 2nd, 2014.
Pricing - Rs.8999/- for Redmi Note
Rs.9999/- for Redmi Note 4G

Please guys keep the thread free from off topic discussions.

Hi blackyz, what method did you use to root version 38?
For anyone who have issues to update/download the version 38, do the following
Go here, download the rom (version 38): http://en.miui.com/download-218.html#360
Then follow this to update it: http://en.miui.com/thread-17988-1-1.html
Root method:http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=66833&extra=page=3&mobile=2
My Redmi Note got delivered by Flipkart Yesterday, its running v39 however first time I left phone connected, I suspect it downloaded v38 to a folder
called "Downloaded Rom" I think this folder came up after initial use
However phone is running v39 and I've rooted it already straight after the unboxing.

Does anyone know why even the latest v38 update is build on top of android 4.2.2 when it's almost time for lollipop for most of the new devices.
I mean it should have been KitKat right out of the box. I had high hopes from the v38 update but it kinda disappointed me :/.
Btw is there any chance of KitKat officially in the near future?

asharma7: sorry my Bad, I wrongly posted.
Running JHDMIBH38.0 as it was a OTA update.
Don't know why such a good hardware is so BADLY done on the OS side.
the included 4.2.2 is still buggy, MX Player and many apps crashes on various settings.
Xiaomi is too hesitant to publish the Kernel Sources and that's the prime reason why custom Roms are still not available for this beast.
They have announced earlier that kernel source would be available around new year, lets hope they do that so developers can PORT other available
ROMS and make this device more customization friendly, especially if CM12 gets ported, I'll stick to that without a second thought.

So how come you can get the rom for snapdragon but not exynos.... I'm aware it's not officially out I'm talking about custom roms here
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Note8 using XDA Labs
Here's the thing. The snapdragon Oreo is a very early leak. So far there have been no leaks of Oreo for the Exynos Note 8. Different hardware, different kernels keep us where we are... waiting. I am sure once there is a leak or release of official Oreo we will see new custom rom's
winol said:
You are asking for help, ok, you did not like one answer, ok again, but do not do exactly the same thing you complain about, for the other part, oreo rom was short lived beta first release to certain countries for snapdragons, not exynos, they stopped due to certain issues, and if you follow the progress of exynos note 8, you would know about it, If you are interested in flashing roms and mods, I sugest you to read first how roms and mods are installed, not here in specific forums, but in the general forums in XDA, after that, you can start reading about device-specific roms in exynos note 8 section, if you do not find roms there, then simply there aren't any yet, be more polite the next time you do not like an answer

Hopefully soon this will be over. What pisses me off about the delay is that I had the choice of getting the Snapdragon Note 8, for a lot less than what I shelled out for the exynos note 8. But I can remember thinking there was more Support for exyno, and they received leaks/updates faster.. If only I could go back

The Snapdragon one is the Official OTA update that has been uploaded to carrier servers to push out. It's just a way of manually installing it before carriers push OTA.

[ALE-L21] Android 6.0 Official Update?

Good evening for you all.
I'm an absolute newcomer to Huawei, as I had Motorola devices since 2014 :silly: I hope to adapt fast to this new device
For now, I want to start slowly. I found the device I bought is currently on Android 5.0.1, and found there is a way to update it to Android 6.0 officially. However, the tutorials what I could find on internet went into a death path, as the websites or files doesn't exist.
I'm currently using an ALE-L21, Compilation ALE-L21C40B181. I found there are differences between compilations and things like that, so... can someone bring me a hand with this? :victory:
Thanks in advance
Note: I found the phone is already Rooted. Curious thing.
