As churapa pointed out on the "Enjoy Moto G4 Apps on Any Motorola Device" thread, if you are running a custom ROM and want to write to an external SD card you will need to:
1.- In /data/system
look for packages.xml
In there, look for com.motorola.camera1
2.- Add
Code:
<item name="android.permission.WRITE_MEDIA_STORAGE" granted="true" flags="0" />
Right after <perms>
3.- Save and Reboot
Thanks to MK99 for providing the V6.0.43.10 apk, DevendraMilmile121 for providing the V6.0.54.1 apk, igna.98 for providing the V6.0.78.1 and V6.0.84.1 apks so i could make these updates and Ayrlon for pointing out the V6.0.86.7 apk was available for download which i downloaded and updated from http://motorola-mobility-camera.apk.black/
The V6.0.62.1 apk was extracted from this stock Moto G5 Rom after i noticed that it had a more up-to-date version of the app

Whatever i had been doing to sign the apk must have been wrong as i have just resigned the apk following the instructions from this page and the resulting file is no longer flagged as malware by Norton Mobile Security.
if you want to try apk again its up to you, i understand if you don't even want to go anywhere near it now.

some of the guys on the original thread used Twisty Switch via Xposed to get the gesture stuff to work.
i prefer using the double tap of the power button myself so have never looked into why the gesture is not working.

its was also pointed out on the original thread that the shutter speed setting does not work and if your running the stock 6.0 rom the ISO setting also does not work.
its a guess but i think the shutter speed setting is not working because an initial value is never being set in this file.
you can see an initial value being set at line 5613 when "setISOValue(ISO_AUTO)" is called but the setExposureTime method (at line 7112) is never called in the same way anywhere in this file.

Shame it doesn't have option to shoot raw.

Can this apk be more modded to give more control options on the shutter speed and ISO?

That's way beyond the scope of enabling options that Motorola have disabled for a device and would first require Motorola to first enable the Camera2 api on the device which is something that has been discussed at length over on the Motorola forum

[REQ] Motorola Camera and Gallery

Can someone with the newly updated moto camera and gallery post the apks and odex files? I like the moto camera/gallery a lot more than the stock ones and I have searched high and low without success.
Edit: thank you to @SX86 for making a flushable zip of the updated gallery and camera apps!
You can thank him and goto this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=59516170 to get the link
Another member posted the apps, however I am getting FC's when I use the galleries edit button and the camera won't open. Is there a way to fix this by editing some system files?
Where'd you get them (which image, device, version, etc)?

I'm not sure, I know versions are posted there, thus one doesn't have HDR+ which leads me to believe it's might be the Moto G camera. I'm still looking for a viable replacement of the stock camera app that doesn't suck.

Tried putting them in priv-app
They would force close when I booted up without even opening them.

I can't seem to get apktool working for me yet. apktool 2.0 should be out soon - maybe this will fix it.
Yes, I'd be interested it getting at least the Moto Gallery working. (Should have been included anyway.)

[MOD] 2013 Droid Family: Moto X 5.1 Patch

What is it?:
A small driver patch to better support running the new Moto X 5.1 stock ROMs on the 2013 Droid Ultra series phones (Mini, Ultra, Maxx). Now also patches the libstagefright vulnerability in these stock ROMs.
What's been tested?:
- Droid Mini, w/ T-Mobile: LTE, 4g, 3g, 2g, calling
- Wireless 2.4ghz, Bluetooth audio and calling.
- Video acceleration, audio, haptic feedback, camera.
- Deep sleep, power management, and wireless charging.
- Normal day to day usage for ~2 weeks now. No crashes, no problems.
YOU ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY AND ALL REPERCUSSIONS BY CHOOSING TO USE THIS INFORMATION
- If you have ANY doubts about the risks, definitely don't use this.
Knowledge Requirements:
- Read the first post for comprehension before posting.
- Read and understand the instructions before trying to follow them.
- Know how to use mfastboot to flash an FXZ.
Other Requirements: (Do a search before you ask...)
- Droid Ultra series device with unlocked bootloader.
- Stock Moto X 5.1 FXZ (I used xt1053 version).
- Current TWRP for Ghost (I used 2.8.7.0).
Instructions:
1: Unzip the Moto X FXZ to a directory on your computer.
2: *** DELETE "motoboot.img", and "gpt.bin"! DO NOT FLASH THEM!!! ***
THESE TWO FILES CAN PERMANENTLY DAMAGE OR BRICK YOUR DROID!!! DELETE THEM!!!
3: Reboot into bootloader for fastboot.
4: mfastboot flash your boot, logo, system, modem, fsg, and TWRP recovery
5: mfastboot erase modemst1, modemst2, userdata, cache, customize, and clogo
6: Use volume controls to boot directly to recovery. If you boot to OS by accident, you'll need to reflash recovery.
7: Let TWRP make changes to your system image to prevent recovery being overwritten.
8: In TWRP select "Install from adb", and then run "adb sideload Droid-MotoX-5.1_Patch.zip" from your computer.
9: Reboot device, and let TWRP install SuperSU.
Observations:
- First boot can take a long, long, time, and may hang. If it's still booting after 10-15 minutes, give it a reboot (PWR & VOL-).
- Your device will think it's a Moto X after reboot. This is normal.
- I highly recommend disabling the Motorola Update Service. The patch doesn't do this for you.
- No idea if this works with other Moto X stock ROM versions.
Notes:
- This is done in my free time, and isn't something I intend to support.
- Don't PM me directly for help! Ask in the thread.
- If you don't have enough post count to post in DEV, you probably shouldn't use this patch.
Bugs:
- None that I've seen so far.
Changelog:
- Initial release
- Added libstagefright patched libs from this thread.

For Verizon service you mean? This install should, in theory, support Verizon service, but I haven't tested it.
There is also nothing T-Mobile specific in the patch, so I don't see why it wouldn't "just work" with the Verizon version of the Moto X 5.1 ROM.
I noticed this says maybe work on droid maxx, but what about capacitive buttons or does the xt1053 have them too. Sorry if this is a dumb question. I was thinking about trying it on my maxx. Tired of waiting on the update.

All told, this ROM does a decent job of supporting the Droid phones out of the box. This patch basically just does a few things:
1: Activates the hardware buttons, and lights. (app switcher is mapped to menu by default)
2: Disables the software navigation bar.
3: Adds some libraries needed for audio on the Droid Mini.
4: Changes the DPI from 320 to 340 on the Droid Mini (smaller screen).
Cheers!
I will definitely try it out thanks

Works good.
But i would add the correct keylayout (with app switch) -> https://github.com/CyanogenMod/andr...e/blob/cm-12.1/keylayout/synaptics_dsx_i2c.kl and modify the build.prop to get the correct model & name.
Seems that this rom has no cell standby power drain (like all cm12 versions).
OK, so for Verizon service, one would get the VZW Moto X 5.1 FXZ and follow the same steps (anyone have a link)? Has anyone tried this out yet? I'd love to give it a go but have been out of the flashing game for a while now.

Yeah, this was a tough call. I set the button to menu since there are unfortunately apps which won't properly expose their on screen menu with the Moto X framework. As you point out, it's easy enough to change. My workaround is to set long press menu to "app-switcher" in Apex Launcher. You can also install an Xposed module which will give long press functionality for the best of both worlds.
And yeah, I concur. I haven't had any of the power drain issues, or call crashing issues I had with CM12. It's proving to be pretty stable thus far.

I'm currently trying to port MOTO display but from what I've found so far is it's multiple APKs in multiple directories so I haven't quite found them all to copy just yet.

OLD
NEW MOTO G5 CAMERA FOR QUARK
I'm still on RR 6.X. and this one below -- from new Moto G5 -- is newer camera than I had. Thank you to @zys52712 for finding it!
Thank you @data365 for making it. Go to the thread below and thank him.
________
I just downloaded this modded APK, and installed it. I then froze the older Motorola (system) camera. The new one shows up as a user app camera. For a few minutes I had two cameras, until I froze the old one.
Everything works well. Yes, it even has professional mode, but I probably won't use that. Video works well too.

EDIT:
Download with Chrome. It should download an an APK. PC version of Chrome always downloads as an APK.
If you are using the mobile Chrome and it downloads as a .BIN file, go to Chrome settings and request the desktop site version of the website (in mobile Chrome) and click on the "download" again so it downloads as APK.
But make sure you are in Chrome. When I click on the link on my phone, "Google" opens the link and it's not actually Chrome browser. (They look very similar.) I know because when I go to the browser settings, it asks me if I want to open in Chrome. Open in Chrome.
________
BE SURE TO REBOOT THE PHONE AFTER YOU INSTALL THE NEW CAMERA!
Video recording may not work until you reboot the phone.
________
You should probably freeze (or uninstall) any other cameras until you are sure there are no conflicts.
_________
I tested both 1080p and 2160p (4K), and the rear camera works fine.
Video works fine on my Quark (Moto XT1225), but I have the native 1080p QUARK camera video resolution chosen for video recording. I did test 2160p (4K) and it also works fine.
The Quark camera specs are this:
2160p(4K)@24fps,

Any other resolution except for those two might not work for Quark (Droid Turbo, Moto Turbo, Moto Maxx).
Since both my TVs are 1080p, I just kept it on that. While 2160p (4K) works, it doesn't do me any good, even on my 1440p AMOLED Moto Maxx display, you know?

Depends on how you download it. IF you download it from PC version of Chrome, it definitely downloads as an APK. You can also force it to download as an APK in mobile Chrome.
Copy and paste the URL into mobile Chrome. (When I click on the link it's Google that opens, not Chrome. I know that because when I go to the menu it asks me if I want to open in Chrome.
Make sure Chrome is open and you are using that. If it downloads as bin again, then go to settings and check mark "desktop version" of website. Click on the file. It will then download as an APK.

APK has been updated. Seems to fix issue the custom Nougat ROMs had. Always worked fine for me on Marshmallow RR 6.x, and the Moto G5 camera comes from stock Motorola Nougat, so was strange some had permission problems. Anyway, seems to be totally fixed, go check it out. Link is at top and also here:

Install this v4. Allow any permission requests (should be just one time).
Freeze the system camera that came with crDroid to prevent any conflicts. That may not be necessary but it can't hurt.

Disable is not "freeze". I was talking about freezing in Titanium Backup.
But that may not be necessary. I was just concerned about force closes or possible conflicts.

There appears to be a small bug around the placement of the shutter button when you first grant rights for the video to record audio but once you restart the app its fine again, this only happens when using the new shortcut button to the right of shutter button.

how to get this app to launch via the twist moto action on Moto X Pure XT5175 ? I read throgh this fourm and one said use Twisty Switch xposed module..but that cant be found anymore or was deleted by author. Another mentioned duple press power button to launch, but how to u configure that? I have gravitybox installed, bit it has no option to set quick launch for power button.
does this app need to be installed as a system app? i woundlt think so as the regular moto cam app on my phone is not system, but form play store.
either way....only slightly more options on this app...but yea..manual ISO does not work on Moto X Pure.....i would assume that this modded app takes identical pics (quality wise) as the stock app right? Or did they improve on anything like their HDR?

If you post here in this forum where I snagged this from for our Quark, and also mention the dev's name @data365, perhaps he can explain the reason and/or fix it. All credit goes to him for modifying this app so it works on our Motorola phones. The latest version was taken from Moto Z Play, from 7.1.1 firmware.
I don't record in 4K -- so I had not noticed any difference -- but is it possible in newer versions of the camera Motorola reduced the file size? Anyway @data365 can probably answer your questions. I created threads in the two Quark forums to bring attention to this newer, modded Moto camera our 2014 Moto Droid Turbo/Moto Turbo/Moto Maxx phones can use. But again, all real credit goes to @data365.
Make sure you mention you are using this newest version.

It wouldn't really help you, but for other phones with SD slots it would help them. I only included it because in the future your never know who will find this thread, and it may be what they need. It would help Moto X Force users for instance. Or Droid Turbo 2, if their bootloader is ever unlocked...

this apks,,,,, are deodex ?
g5s plus camera is too bad..
can you please suggest any other good camera??
I made a system dump which contains everything inside /system. As soon as I deodex all the apk's, I'll upload them for you all so you have proper (easily installable) apk files.
No offense, but simply backing up the system apps with ES File Explorer isn't exactly adequate. If the apk's were already deodexed, it'd be a different story.
So I've successfully deodexed all the apk and jar files within the stock ROM (NPS26.116-45).
I'm gonna create a new thread later today with individual links for each as well as some zips with various groups (ex: /system/app, /system/priv-app, /system/vendor/app, /system/framework, /system/vendor/framework).
I've also created a deodexed Stock ROM based off NPS26.116-45 as well. Haven't tested it yet tho, but it should work. If it does boot and work successfully, I'll post that in the forums as well [emoji6]

Check the Google Camera app (ported) in the other thread. It's much better than the stock camera app and provides much better clarity and color reproduction.
