AOSP N (7.0) for Z5 DUAL(E6683) - Xperia Z5 Android Development

AOSP 7.0 For Xperia Z5 DUAL (Abandoned currently)
Hello guys,
It takes a long time for Sony devs to add the support the dsds variant, but it's finally coming
Now I've built the AOSP 7.0 for Sony Xperia Z5 Dual.
Currently working:
*Dual Sim support
*GPS
*Bluetooth
*SMS
**Newly solved : SD card detection credits to @HaoZeke
Currently NOT working:
+Camera (Well, it's kinda work -- Sharp focus but inverted)
Current status: Broken
+Fingerprint(Sometimes doesn't work)
Supporting devices:
Currently tested on E6683, not sure about E6633.
Don't try it on other devices.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE back up you data ( including sd card) before flashing...

***UPDATE:
For recovery, download this and flash using fastboot. Then flash Gapps, and the device will be ready to use as daily driver.

Procedure to get it working:
1. Unlock the bootloader
2. install adb and fastboot on your computer (Can be found easily on Google)
3. open the command windows
4, Type: fastboot -S 256M flash boot /replace with your own route/boot.img
5, Type: fastboot -S 256M flash system /replace with your own route/system.img
6, Type fastboot -S 256M flash userdata /replace with your own route/userdata.img
7, Type fastboot flash recovery /replace with your route/recovery3.0.2.img
8, Flash opengapps in the recovery
9, You're all set
****Make sure to do a full wipe before flashing the ROM.****
Please do not expect updates because I built the ROM only by exactly syncing the repo created by Sony dev. I'll update the ROM asap if there are any update in the official repo.
Sorry for bad English
Press the thanks button if you found it useful!

@HaoZeke for making SD card detection work.

Great! I would definitely support this project! Keep up the goodwork!

Rom boots fine on E6633 but the sim cards don't work and camera doesn't even open.

For SIM Card I really don't have a clue.... It works well on my phone. I'm sorry that I can't help because I'm not a developer.
Camera can be opened by enabling the 23MP mode in settings -> extended settings -> disable the 8mp mode.

Oh ok. Op said he wasnt sure about E6633 but it seems that sim support still doesn't work on it.
I have been dying to have aosp on my dual E6633 but all roms don't support dual sim e6633 .

Just tried it on my E6683 DSDS
- did a clean format of all partitions
- flashed 4 imgs via fastboot
- booted nicely
- lost everything on my phone memory
- no SD card detected anywhere
- Camera does'nt even start
- SIM functions are OK

Thanks for the brilliant work... Have you perhaps asked one of the senior devs about the SD card thing...? That's the only thing keeping from jumping this as daily driver.....

Sorry everyone, but these days I'm really busy with my homework and tests... So I won't be able to update the rom that often.
But relax, I'll dig deeper into it later and I WON'T GIVE UP THIS ROM.

Hey, I don't know if this is relevant but the SD card detection problem is because the precompiled kernel which is in the sony repos is built for the E6653 not E6683, which has it's kernel configuration set up here....
https://github.com/sonyxperiadev/device-sony-sumire/blob/master/aosp_e6683.mk

E6683 Kernel.
Hey I just compiled the kernel for the e6683 from source and updated the bootimage...
This fixes the SD Card issue...
Also, a word of warning; flashing userdata wipes the internal SD card as well....

Thanks for the rom. Great work.
Both the sim cards work. Data Works. Wifi Works.
Camera opened the first time and was able to take photos. But never opens again.
I have rooted it. No problems there. Adaway does not work though. Cant update hosts file.
Most of the times the rom is butter smooth, but there is occasional stutter.
Bluetooth works. NFC works. Bluethooth audio works.
External SD card works. Thanks to @HaoZeke.

The camera seems hit and miss. I read somewhere that the stock camera "jams" the device so don't use it. Usually and oddly, whatsapp's internal camera opens in a few tries...

Important Notice Due to my exams i wont be available till 25th. I have tried to make instructions as clear as possible still if anyone is having problems u can use 1.2, 1.2.1, 1.5, 1.5.1 all stable.1.5 and 1.2.1 have most positive feedbacks.
Or Go for my SUPER STABLE and Successful FROYO (android 2.2.1)build HERE :: CLICK HERE
Dear friends ..
You need a rooted wildfire for this...
Thanks frnds for ur interest and testing support ::
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED I can't say it enough be it this or any other ROM, Always Back-up your current stable ROM with Nandroid.
IMP IMP IMP::Please format your SD card to FAT32 before flashing and remove all partitioning. This way you wont have Boot Loop Trouble.
To Flash the zip file needs to be copied to root of ur Sd card and flashed from recovery.
You can also use Koush's Fake Flash.
This ROM wont delete ur personal data from your sd card.
Its better to Wipe ur Caches from recovery menu before flashing. Recommended.
DOWNLOAD the ROM.Complete Following steps.Same steps for all ROMs here.
# Flash the ROM and Make the first boot (will take little time).
# Reboot Once. Now Boot into RECOVERY..and complete following Steps::
HOW TO SET UP SD CARD FOR APP2SD to work properlyA. backup your sd card to your computer, as partitioning will wipe the entire card.(Just to be super safe::Format your card to FAT32 on your PC and then insert it into ur Buzz/Wildfire)
B. Reboot into recovery
c. Select partition sdcard
d. Again select partition sd card.
e. Follow the instructions on the phone to partition your sd card. You can optionally set a swap file while you are partitioning your sd card.
Recommended setting (Swap=0, Ext=256, rest=fat32)
F. In the partition sdcard menu, select sd:ext2 to ext3. Follow the instructions on the screen.
G. ONLY FOR Vibes v1.1 Others skip this step nly perform this step if you want ext4 and your rom supports it: in the partition sdcard menu, select sd:ext3 to ext4. Follow the instructions on the sdcard.H. Press the up volume button on the phone to go back to the main menu.
I. Reboot and viola you are done.
Or Do it THE GEEK WAY

LOTS of partitioning trouble causes phone to have boot trouble.
1. Please before flashing remove your partitions you had created earlier.
2. Then Format to FAT32.
Its just partitioning problem i have checked the ROM friends once u partition ur card..then formatting will clean only one partition other is still unusable you have to remove partion. then Format to Fat32 and boot.
HERE ARE SOME INSTRUCTIONS AND A TOOL that will solve ur problems once and for all..
and after this partition removal, ur card is fat32 again ..this time just create a partition with recommended setting (swap=0 and ext=256)..try ext2 first.

TWRP, ROOT and disable Encryption for Yoga Tab 3 Plus (YT-X703F/L)

TWRP is an open source, community project. TWRP development is done by roughly 4 people at this point. We also have a large support community with many people who are willing to answer questions and help people with their devices either through our IRC channel or on forums like xda-developers.
Team Win was originally formed to work on porting WiMAX to CM7 for the HTC EVO 4G. After our work on the EVO 4G we wanted to work on a project that would work on more devices than just the EVO 4G and we settled on working on a recovery. Today TWRP is the leading custom recovery for Android phones.
A custom recovery is used for installing custom software on your device. This custom software can include smaller modifications like rooting your device or even replacing the firmware of the device with a completely custom "ROM" like OmniROM

WARNING!!! Be careful what you do here. One mistake and the device is soft-bricked. I take no responsibility for bricked devices, lost warranty or even OTAs not working!! Booting and/or flashing files from this post is on your own risk.
Requirements
Unlocked bootloader
Yoga Tablet 3 Plus with and without LTE (YT-X703L and YT-X703F) are supported
Known Issues
WARNING! Our device uses dm-verity (verified boot). The system partition should remain read-only. Otherwise a bootloop will occur. You can flash my modified kernel or SuperSU to resolve this but OTA's are no longer possible! You have to restore a factory image or clean system backup to receive OTAs
Potentially DRM keys are lost! Pure unlocking and rooting does not cause the issue. However, there have been reports of lost DRM keys by some unknown action. It is advised to act with caution. Losing your DRM keys can lead to issues with some apps which use DRM which could then have limited or no functionality. E.g. Netflix will only stream in SD (480p). You can check with DRM info if you still have L1 security level which means DRM keys are intact.
Download
Official TWRP for YT-X703F (Wifi): twrp.me
Official TWRP for YT-X703L (LTE): twrp.me
Instructions
Install fastboot and adb on your PC, e.g. from here
Enable developer options and in there select to unlock your bootloader by enabling OEM unlock and enable USB debugging
Connect your PC to your tablet and run
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
using adb on command line. The tablet will reboot into bootloader mode where you will only see the Lenovo logo. Now you use
Code:
fastboot oem unlock-go
to unlock. This will factory reset your device
Setup the tablet again and reboot again to the bootloader
Then run
Code:
fastboot boot twrp-3.2.1-0-yt_x703f.img
to temporarily boot into TWRP. You can also flash if you are sure
Select to keep system read only when TWRP starts to avoid modification which will make OTAs impossible
Optionally flash SuperSU or Magisk in TWRP which should install system less. Keep OEM unlock enabled if you flash or modify anything
Additional Downloads
Backup of original boot, recovery and system image for YT-X703F S000936: MEGA
Modified Boot image with forceencrypt disabled and it switches off CABC fully. You need to factory reset after flashing to format data without encryption boot_yt_x703f_s000963_noforceencrypt_cabc.img (YT-X703F S000963) / boot_yt_x703l_s000963_noforceencrypt_cabc.img (YT-X703L S000963) . Use
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot_yt_x703f_s000963_noforceencrypt_cabc.img
to flash the kernel in fastboot. SuperSU or Magisk should be flashed afterwards if root is desired.
Full factory images with flash tool and instructions YT_X703F_S000689, YT_X703L_S000704, YT_X703F_S000725, YT_X703L_S000725, YT_X703F_S000734, YT_X703L_S000734, YT_X703L_S000744, YT-X703F_S000744, YT-X703L_S000963, YT-X703F_S000963 and OTA updates: MEGA (These images contain the individual boot, recovery and system images that you need to restore from any modification mentioned above)
System Updates (OTA)
In order to successfully apply Lenovo system updates after root you have to restore the original boot, recovery (if you flashed TWRP) and system partitions from your current installed version (e.g. S000744) for your variant of the tablet. This will NOT delete your apps and data but will unroot. Note that OTAs are block based and always check the contents of most of the partitions. This means that all of these partitions (except your data) have to be original and have to be on the exact same version (e.g. S000734) for the update to succeed.
See here for instructions how to restore the partitions with fastboot.

Who wants to bet on a race between matshias and Lenovo support for who can fix the issues with this device first?
That's great and fast, I'm thinking tab 3 plus is getting hot now.
Great to see there is something moving for the yoga now. You think it will support the lte Version anytime? Or maybee even lineageos?

Well if you haven't modified anything yet then it'd be great if you can boot into TWRP with system read only and then connect via ADB to the tablet with a big SD card inserted which has enough free space (4 GB).
The run the following command
Code:
dd if=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/system of=/sdcard1/system.img
This will take a while. Then copy the file system.img from your SD card to a PC and zip it (or 7z, rar). Then upload it

The LTE variant is probably very similar and it wouldn't be much work. But I don't own the device, so I would need some help. So someone with the LTE variant who is not afraid to experiment with fastboot and adb and who can provide me with the details needed I am happy to compile a TWRP for it.
LineageOS is much much more work than TWRP. For an experienced cyanogenmod/LineageOS dev it is not much of a thing and would take only a few days, especially since it is a Qualcomm device and there are already ports for devices with SD 652. But for me this is new as well so it'll take much longer. As soon as I have time I'll look into it.

I think I forgot one more thing. The external SD card needs to be mounted in the TWRP menu. I believe it's not mounted automatically. So the DD command does nothing. It shouldn't take that long. Sorry about that!

If that's real it would have saved me a lot of time finding the loophole in the system to extract the boot and recovery image. But still a great find which will rescue some soft-bricked devices.

[MOD][RECOVERY] Working TWRP recovery for Pixel on Android O

EDIT:
My mod is not needed anymore!
Everything is fine now, the TWRP guys made the decryption in their latest version (3.2.1 at the time of this post) possible, even with android 8.1.
Go ahead and download it from twrp.me. and don't forget to thank them, because it was a LOT of hard work! Google made big changes under the hood, and it took a lot of patience and endurance to adapt.
Big up to @Dees_Troy and the rest of the team!
Hey People! It seems, that after weeks of trying, hundreds of reboots, countless tests, I can present you a working version of TWRP 3.1. for the Pixel with Android O Developer Preview 4.
Edit: and it also works on the final Android O.
But let's not rush into things.. First of all a DISCLAIMER:
This is a TEST release, you are using it at your own risk. If your phone gets damaged in any way, nobody else but you can be held responsible. If you do not agree, stop reading and don't use this mod!
I would like to give credits to the people who helped me, and made all this possible:
First of all, @Chainfire, who did more then you would think Among other things, he was the one who showed me how to use tune2fs and reset quotas on /data, which makes it possible to mount it. Without this , I couldn't even start. So thank you very much!
Of course where would we be without @Dees_Troy and the other TWRP guys (i.e.: CaptainThrowback, nkk71, steadfasterX, _that...), who created and maintain TWRP, and demonstrated some serious patience on IRC , where I was asking them for help. For days. For weeks Thank you guys! You helped a lot!
What is this "mod"?
This is stock, normal TWRP 3.1 compiled from source, for the Google Pixel (sailfish) with some small tweaks to make it possible to mount /data, and decrypt it.
Can you use it on the Pixel XL (marlin)?
I don't know... I don't have a Pixel XL to test. If you want, you can buy me one and I'll be glad to compile, prepare, and test it for you.
EDIT: Chainfire "tested a few zip installs" and those were working for him on the Pixel XL, so maybe it is worth a try guys! - thanks for this CF! -
What happens behind the curtains?
I made some modifications to a script that prepared stuff to make the decryption of /data possible. Now it does a bit more... It copies libraries and binaries from /system and /vendor partitions to /system and /vendor folders, so they can be un-mounted (needed for backup). Basically, the recovery uses the real files/commands of the currently installed android os to prepare and mount /data partition (to make it ready for decrypting).
I updated the fstab file, so TWRP knows what to mount where.
I also changed a few things in the order how services are started during TWRP boot.
This is mostly everything. I was only changing external parts/files/tools of TWRP. The original code, the core is left intact.
How well was it tested?
I have only 1 phone, the pixel. I have only tested on this one phone, and it works for me. Of course I can't be certain it will for you, but you will see if you try it
I tested decrypting of /data, flashing a zip file, making a backup. Didn't dare to test restore yet
How can you try it?
This is not a flashable zip, this is a bootable image. So to use it, you have to put the phone into fastboot mode, and fastboot boot the image.
1. reboot the phone into fastboot mode
- if you have adb: adb reboot bootloader
- if you don't, then turn off the phone and press volume down while turning it on
2. open a terminal and issue the following command:
Code:
fastboot boot <path to your twrp image here>
(for example: fastboot boot /home/you/twrp-3-1-pixel-bootable-mod.img)
What about a flashable zip?
I had some quick test runs only for now, and it was working for me (flashing the zip, rebooting to recovery) until I flashed supersu, or rebooted the phone to android. I will need some more time to work on this, and see what is going wrong. So please be patient, I will try to do something, but can't guarantee it will work. Soon. Anytime.
Enough of the talk, you can download the image file from here:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=745425885120753892
Good luck and don't forget to report back!
I will try to do my best to help you, but I have a family and I inted to spend most of my time with them. Please be patient!
If you like my work, you can buy me a beer, it is damn hot here right now, and I would love to drink one
Edit: Because I'm a noob and couldn't push my changes to the gerrits, I created a diff file with all my changes.
If you are checking it, please take into account, that I was in a hurry, and there was a point where I said "F*** it!" and I copied ALL the libs and bins from /system and /vendor
Anyway, here it is : https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=817550096634795329
reserved...
I've only tested installing a few ZIPs but that seems to work fine (on Pixel XL).
I've looked at your modified script and I see the tune2fs commands and copying /system and /vendor files, but I don't see where you actually mount/decrypt /data. Or is this still handled by the TWRP binary?

Hi Chainfire!
I'm happy to hear, that it works on the Pixel XL
Thanks for the confirmation!
Yes, decrypting the data partition is still being handled by TWRP. I added some debug lines to the C code, you can see it in /tmp/recovery.log.
The main issue was mounting /data first, and I had to enable file based encryption instead of vold...
Thanks, I'll have to make time in the very near future to prep my phone for a fresh install.
I haven't had a need to host Android files since I moved on from LG devices before my HTC 10 and Pixel, but I highly recommend Android File Host with optional FTP access on request.
If you prefer a regular cloud service, I recommend Mega. They give 50GB for free and they have an Android app as well as Windows. Possibly others (Mac?), not sure.
My God this is amazing. Thank you so so much.

Guys! Check the free space on /system! On Android O DP4 I had about 100MB free space, and I had to remove some **** before flashing anything. Try /system/app and Pinyin input, Chinese input apks....
The recovery is fine...
What? I don't know what I did differently this time, but the the app keeps asking to install the driver again and again everytime I open the app even though there was a successful driver installation notification.

Android 10 Ported Pixel Experience

Android Version : Android 10 Ported Pixel Easy recovery install.
You should be having proper knowledge of flashing Custom ROM and how to Restore a phone if anything goes wrong.
Take complete backup before taking any action based on this thread. I am not responsible for any action taken by you.
I am just compiling all the information / files available on different websites into this thread, I have patched together with cyber spit, bubblegum, and tape, for a pretty much fully working Android 10 running rom. I have removed what I believe to be all of the bloat. Worked to modify a working android 10 vendor. Latest Magisk 19.5 installer is all ready included as of Oct 10th 2019 as well as the modified boot for root access. Gapps are also included for a fully functioning playstore.
All Credit goes to respective developer/s. I request XDA moderator and or Developer of Respective files to let me know if I have forgotten to mentioned (give credit) their name in this thread. The Download Links are given directly from respective Developer/s.
You need the following two files to run Android 10 on Mi Max 2 (Oxygen). This ROM recovery is ported with many patches and customized from various sources. This ROM maybe Stable enough for your daily use on Mi Max 2. I have access to two MM2 4/64 Global versions using a 1tb sd card one on At&t the other on Tmobile.
1a. Treble Mi Max 2 Recovery 3.2.1 (https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=5862345805528056270)
1b. OrangeFox Recover 10

2. Android 10 Ported Pixel.
https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=13Ro_0NRv4SfD3UqVUCyR2Ki2ojjiKwDL
First step:
Start your phone into recovery and Flash a Treble recovery, if already not flashed. Restart into Recovery.
Click Wipe then Advance wipe and clear System, Vendor, Boot, Data, Cache, and Dalvick cache.
Second step:
Now Extract the Downloaded Rom files in Recovery backup folder. You should know where and how to Extract. (Use extract tool for android or pc then copy paste to recovery backup folder.)
Third step:
Click Restore and Select System, Boot, Vendor and Swipe to confirm. Wait for restore to complete. If any errors, Reboot recovery and try again. Or Mount the System, Vendor, Boot and try again. After Restore completes Reboot. Please allow 1-2 Minutes for first boot, Ignore any errors.
If I missed anything in the above, kindly let me know to include. If you make any further updates / patches that makes this ROM more stable / perfect or enables new features, please don't hesitate to message me to include in this thread.
I have an old PC running windows with 8gb HDD (Asus 901 eeepc) max at any one given time, So if you would like to make the recovery image into a flashable zip, I'd be happy to update/add it.
If you can afford it, Im trying to save for a computer from this decade, any help is appreciated

If you would like to use the boot, vendor, system, or any other files, All I ask is pass on the proper credits.

LineageOS 17 GSI Rom working on A40 Confirmed

Hi. Just wanted to say that LineageOS 17 is indeed working on my Samsung Galaxy A40.
By wiping everything except internal storage and flashing the A/B image of LineageOS 17, I got it working on my A40. The only problem is that:
1. USB OTG does not work.
2. File transfers does not work.
3. WiFi is a bit slow, but still works.
You just search up online tutorials on how to flash GSI Rom's on phones, then you follow those.
PS: Some apps show you that your system is A only. Those apps are not working. The phone uses A/B.
Same problems at my side. Now im trying some other ROMs
Added:
OTG works fine (tested flashstorage)

Hey there
On my A40 with LOS17 my Bluetooth Headphones works fine, untill i get a call (or want to make one),
then the Phone switches to the internal speaker.
Does anybody have the same problem?
Hi,
Did anyone manage to fix the rounded corners. For example the battery icon is not visible.
EDIT: Already found it. It is in Phh settings.

Hello! Would you possibly provide with documentation or just the procedures on how to get a GSI to work on the Samsung A40? Been trying to get it to work and it just says "No OS installed" in TWRP and boot loops...

Atleast for now, all of the gsi images are not worth effort for this device. I've tried most of them and they are laggy. But here is an instruction
1. Download all attached files and copy them to sd card (Cant post links because im new but i hope that this will not get deleted
ht tps://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1GhcWXGcNir-5fKt25y1D6kgZd7DNVz6e (remove the space in gaps)
2. Boot into twrp
3. wipe
Dalvik/ Art Cache
System
Data
Internal Storage
Cache
4. Flash Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt
5. Flash gsi rom as system
6. Reboot to recovery (very important, dont skip this step. There might be information about No OS Installed dont worry about it.)
7. Then click Mount - System. Go to wipe -> Advanced wipe -> Select system -> Click repair or change file system -> resize file system (If there is an error while resizing system just do it one more time.)
8. Flash Magisk
9. Now depends on your gsi. Some have already attached google services. If you are using lineage os i suggest you to use NikGapps (Open gapps didn't worked for me) Flash it
10. If you are having problem with corners in gsi rom, flash A40LOSFIX. It fixes the problem
There is fix for laggy animations in system ui
Open up any root file explorer and go to:
/system/build.prop (remember to change partition from r/w to r/o)
and paste those lines at the bottom of the file
#visual_tweak
debug.sf.hw = 0
debug.egl.hw = 0
debug.enable.sglscale = 1
debug.sf.enable_hwc_vds = 1
debug.gralloc.enable_fb_ubwc = 1
debug.sf.latch_unsignaled = 1
debug.sf.recomputecrop = 0
dev.pm.dyn_samplingrate = 1
Thats all, but as i said i dont think that is worth the effort. Android q navigation gestures are choppy even with the fix and thats problem for me. But maybe someone could fix this or make rom specific for this device.
What is about camera performance in LOS ? As far as I know there are some propriatary part of firmware ...
Whats with the Gapps?

Hello, I'm considering installing Lineage OS 17.1 over stock Android. Have the slow WiFi and files not transferring via USB cable been patched yet?

Ive been using it for 2 weeks now. I like it many times more than the Samsung bloatware. But yes, there are still some limitations and broken functionalities there. To name the ones I've noticed so far:
- No USB OTG, nor file transfer via USB.
- Auto brightness not working (even though the light sensor is working)
- Proximity wont change audio messages from playing on speaker
Working:
- Wifi 5Ghz working full speed (30 Mb/s+)
- Playing music over bluetooth
- Battery seems to last the same
Apart from that, I have nothing to complain just yet.
Does Ambient Display work for you?

It does not. I can search it in the settings menu, but the setting is not there. Same for adaptive backlight
I've installed according to Yankezss advice with twrp 3.4 unofficial. I have ARM64 architecture device and I downloaded the A/B version "lineage-17.1-20201114-UNOFFICIAL-treble_arm64_bvS (1).img.xz" extracted it and installed the .img as system in twrp and everything else according to his post. My phone stays in "galaxy" logo, waited for 20-30 minutes and it was still like that. Any advice? I've also tried installing unofficial lineage os 18 from two different sources and could not get those booted either.
norteo fucnciona
So you all talking about general GSI LOS Roms, right. There is no dedicated for A40?

2. After wiping a specific partition?
3. After resotring the phone using Odin?
4. which partition is this patch stored on?
Many thanks!
