[EOL][KERNEL][CM14.1][UNOFFICIAL] Boeffla Kernel 6.0-alpha6 (2016-11-20) - Galaxy S III Android Development

This project is dead. Please use the official Boeffla kernel instead.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...rnel-boeffla-kernel-2-2-stable-27-03-t2449408

Thanks for continuing the boeffla kernel project for i9300.

Thanks mate! Blessed to have devs who let our S3's live long!
Device boots well, I have flashed the kernel over alpha 2. Let's see how well it works

I can flash this over cm 14 kernel? Or how?

Boeffla kernel is not dead because you make it alive again! Many Thanks to you for your good work. I really appreciate that

Yes flash over cm14 kernel,flash the zip in recovery

I still experienced some random reboots on alpha4, so here is another try to fix that:

i'm looking for the best kernel settings gives better performance + battery life , balanced in all way

Is it tried to [ROM] [7.0] [NOUGAT] [TESTING] [CyanogenMod 14] [WIP] [UNOFFICIAL] is everything working properly (camera, Wi-fi, sim card, etc.) ?

Should work.
Test for yourself.
Currently, with stock kernel, all works fine, except I (actually phone of my wife) has higher battery drainage (maybe because of RIL),

Have you had any random reboots with alpha5? Because for me it seems to reboot even more often than on alpha2.

Does the current version (alpha 5) work on CM14.1, or we'll have to wait for another build with updated 14.1 sources?

Works with CM14.1
Also I have had no random reboots since I disabled ambient display :good:

Tried disabling it, doesn't work. By default it was disabled for me, but the display still turned on upon receiving notifications. Then I tried enabling it and disabling it again, still the same. :/

You must flash gapps (doesn't have to be the one linked) or the ROM will be broken in weird ways.

See DevDB bug reports (hopefully)

My customisations so far include most of the things in my customised CM 10.2.
Please visit Team Vanir's Google+.
Which download?
Most of my customisations (mostly the same as my customised CM 10.2) are merged officially into Vanir.
My build contains customisations that aren't yet officially merged. The list is at: Vanir's gerrit
The nightlies are built from Vanir's official repos. They're not tested by me or the Vanir team, but there's no reason why they wouldn't work. Both nightlies are the same, but just built at different times of the day, so they'll have different commits included.
My build: vanir_p880_4.3.092813.zip
Nightlies by nuclearmistake: http://www.emccann.net/nuclearmistake/VanirAOSPNightlies/p880/
Nightlies by DHO: http://www.emccann.net/dho/3-Vanir-mirror/4-nighties/ (go to the latest date and look for the zip with "p880" in the name)
gapps: gapps-jb-20130821-core.zip
Device Tree: https://github.com/mzhou/vanir_device_lge_p880
Kernel: https://github.com/mzhou/lge-kernel-p880-cyanogenmod
ROM: https://github.com/VanirAOSP
You can dirty flash from CM 10.2. Just run these commands in adb after booting for the first time in order to not be stuck in restricted pre-setup mode:
Code:
sqlite3 /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db "update secure set value=1 WHERE name='user_setup_complete';"
sqlite3 /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db "update global set value=1 WHERE name='device_provisioned';"
This is the first time I've used this DevDB thing. Hope I filled in the gazillions of boxes right and it makes things easier for everyone.

like the other AOSP based ROMs there seems to be no exfat support. Will now change back to your Cyanogenmod based.
EXfat is option to be able to transfer files larger than 4gb on SD card??

Yes. I don't see why we can't have exfat support, since it's a kernel thing for the most part. open a feature request on the new DevDB and at when i have time I'll get out a spare SD card to test what's stopping it from working.
most annoying thing at the moment is the button backlights. I'll need to cherry pick the setting from cm.

Problem is not kernel based. I've checked it against a few other kernels including werewolf for example.
Quick memo is crashing.Rest of things seems fine,will test more.
After trying to add apps to the AppBar , SystemUi started to crash continuously even after I disabled the Appsbar. Had to re flash again. Other than that its been quite solid.

Don't know about the default launcher. I use Nova.
Charged device 100% and left it for 7h untouched and i had 100% awake time,deep sleep is non existing.I dont have any program installed except es file explorer or custom kernel.Whould provide screenshot but i cant find how to make one in this rom.I dont know if I should be happy because for 7H awake time i my battery was down from 100% to 78% (for 7 hours awake time i think this is great) or be sad because my phone wont go to deep sleep.
P.S.Power manager service wacelocks was problem.Maybe because i left WiFi running but even so that is too much.

If I remember correctly, power manager service wakelocks are caused by apps.

Yeah, I know, this is why you want KitKat. Anyway, it might work, it might not. This is how I could get it working:
[a] Format /system;
Apply this zip;
[c] Apply pa_gapps;
[d] Reboot and test;
[e] Change runtime to libart.so and reboot into recovery;
[f] Format /cache;
[g] Clear dalvik-cache;
[h] Reboot and wait 40 minutes for it to compile everything;

Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Built from source with just a few patches to device tree and SurfaceFlinger. Running on Devil kernel also built from sources.
It's very light on extra features for now, most are still in the process of being ported from JB version.

Got further this time.. I checked all the settings, and they seem to work.. and had some issue with one of my apps and the superuser, so I downloaded SuperSu and it "tried to update binaries" but the phone bootlooped..?? I will try again and see if it happens again..
*Edit*
SuperSu failed to update binaries for me, but I just flashed it instead, and all is well.. I have rebooted a couple times to see if it'll loop.. So far so good, but this doesn't mean i don't want more updates..

I did not label anything, I just sync'ed the repo and built. The build system chooses the label, and I'm not responsible for that.

[ROM][Nexus 4][Mako][5.1] Unofficial CM12.1 Builds

I have built pure CyanogenMod 12.1 (Android 5.1) for Nexus 4, and wanted to share with you.
These builds will probably become obsolete when CM will officially release nightlies for our device, but if as me you can't wait, you can flash it as usual zips.
I will try to build a version every day or two, until CyanogenMod Team release official ones.

That will be fine if you can report here things that works or not, just to let users know, and so that in the case something is wrong, we could expect a fix from CM in next builds. But don't expect me to fix anything, because this ROM should stay as "vanilla CM" as possible. Thanks.

Still I have the same rebooting issue as on every 5.0+ ROM. It works fine for a while and then it soft reboots
Alright, since I resurrected a couple of NAND-bricked 16GB P31x0 ...
Bug 1: Tap on the "User image" in the notification shade - and try to set a avatar image for the "Owner" account - system crashes and reboots once you tap the "Save" button where you can crop the image you selected.
Bug 2: YouTube doesn't work overly well. When you start playing back a video it plays for 2-3 seconds then "stutters" and gives a "playback error". You can retry at which point it will work, but it's annoying (doesn't happen with the July/2 CM13 build). Also, YouTube only shows up to 480p in "Quality" where in CM13 it shows 720p (landscape full-screen).
Bug 3 (not sure if bug or "feature"): You can set the "Recent app" thingy to display "full screen" (no navbar / statusbar), but you cannot enable "extended desktop" anywhere for the UI itself.
Bug 4 (not sure it is a bug): I see a rather strange behavior on system boot...
- When I "shutdown" and have it plugged into the charger it shuts down, then the "charge anim" shows up and the screen is cleared but the backlight isn't turned off.
- When I start the system (from "shutdown" state) it seems as it does a "double boot" ... Galaxy Tab logo screen -> blank -> "reboot" (?) -> Galaxy Tab logo screen -> blank -> Omni boot anim.
All clean flashed with Delta's latest "base" Gapps package and SuperSU 2.65
I'll also slap a post into the CM13 thread as I see two minor problems with the latest build as well.

Yeah exactly that's strange cause RR uses the same sources.

that what I was thinking... if they use the same sources, why doesn't work?

My guess would be changes in the System itself meaning that Razziell edits the RR first then applies the changes in LOS,CrDroid so maybe the code would be a lil different causing that bug to persist.
I have switced to this ROM and seems overall ok. But why there's no FP option??
I can't find Fingerprint settings anywhere. Can anybody help?
I've found a problem. Whenever I exit an app, music volume of connected bluetooth headset goes to high automatically. Haven't tested with 3.5mm earphone. Anybody found this problem too?

I don't have a Bluetooth headset to reproduce it so... wait for others to confirm it.

yes, clean install. btw problem is solved now. I have found FP settings after 3-4 random reboot of the phone. Don't know why it didn't come before. ROM is good, but missing extra customization options like RR or CrDroid.

Heck I know what you're saying I could use Lineage but without a navbar it feels very weird.
There is an update version of this rom on 4PDA. Someone who wants the LOS can try that rom.
although i am using miui, but thank you so much!

Doesn't look like much has changed from previous version?
Well I have been using it all morning. 100% smooth and no problems so far I'm happy to report, except the USB disconnect bug that this phone seems to have on every ROM except MIUI. Even advanced reboot working. Great job, @Razziell and I hope this last problem will get fixed sometime too!
