I am really looking forward to android 7 on the idol 4. Is there any roms released yet or any news from alcatel? I read somewhere they were planning to release nougat for the idol 3/4/4s but i haven't seen anything about that in a long time.

I think it's too early for official Android 7.0 on Idol 4, let's wait for middle 2017 ... then will see ...

Glad someone answered!
Sadly, Middle 2017 seems very late to me. It's a good budget smartphone, but just like any budget phone it will most probably die before that day.
Anyone else has some spicy info on the subject?
I actually called Alcatel asking about if they were working on one. All the lady said was that she is unaware of any nougat development for the idol 4.

They may still do it. I'm guessing they will because they are producing the idol 4 pro with nougat on it at release. So why do just one idol 4 and not the others. I heard the whole 4 series will get it just a matter of when

Today, in an email response, the service rep said they just don't know when it will be updated.
Also idol 3 is not going to have nougat.

I have an Idol 4, from experience I don't think that I'll get nougat on this device, they will probably released with a newer model
update nougat coming middle of year

Thanks for that. I must have missed that post! I know there were still some posts in September suggesting that there was a possibility we were getting 4.4.3 so I didn't think it hurt to clarify once again.

Yeah, I'm sure the mass from the site aren't going to be happy about it. I haven't rooted a phone in a while, just don't have the time to do it anymore. But it sucks, for sure.
Chainfire already has established and released root on L. From what I've seen in the n5 forums.

The OTA is only for tablets!
Dev images should be posted today but nothing will roll out today for GSM/CDMA devices.
The OTA for the other nexus devices will come in the following weeks.

Oh the Nexus twitter account must be a spam account and that's why it had a huge verified check mark next to it.
Its been stated over and over by various sources including google that the OTA from today will only be for WiFi devices aka tablets.

It's cool either way, as long as it doesn't take 2 months or some'n than I can wait a couple of weeks. In such events like these, I'm glad that I chose to buy Nexus 5 instead of the usual Samsung/HTC as I did in the past.

With the community builds going pretty well so far, I'm hoping there's a few fixes in this build we've been waiting for. For example, the coloured notification LED bug, the pale accent colours, and other small things.

I don't know that I don't own any of s6 series. I'm doing this in my free time to help others and it is very frustrated when you on your post see 2-3K of viewers and only 10 or so thanks. How hard it is to simply say "thank you" if someone help you. They are same way in the live. They get someone help and they just walk away with out even looking back. Think about it. Have great day. BTW. People who want something from me will get it. There is always way.

You must be confused, this device got Android 13 update this summer and just got a big update this week. Very much not abandoned.

Abandoned by developers...100% true... Not only that but oppo/oneplus are locking these devices down. Unlocking the bootloader on the 10T is already an issue.

They're mostly referring to the fact that OnePlus, once developer-friendly, has reversed that stance and with every flagship phone, has found more and more new and exciting ways to make developers' lives a living hell. Hence, no developer support. Meanwhile, OP releases updates that only seem to break things more than anything else. Buyer beware, as they say.
