[APP][Moto Display]Activate Moto Display by waving over proximity sensor - Moto G 2015 Themes and Apps

Hello everybody.
We all know that Moto Display is very useful and shows incoming notification. In Moto G and E devices, it activates when the phone is moved from its position, or when a flip cover over the phone is opened. However I have heard that in Moto X devices, it activates even if you wave over the proximity sensor.
So I thought of making a small app that does the same. It is on Play Store.
MotoDisplay handwave
This might be helpful to some people like me. Do hit the Thanks button if it helped you.

Thanks for giving your feedback.
As far as I know, CM 14.1 does not have Moto Display.
You can check that out by going to the "More Info" option at the bottom of the app. If you see that Moto Display is not supported (in red) then the app can't do anything.

Did you switch the app on? Please press the toggle button at the top of the app to switch it on.

Of course I turned it on. The wave to sleep works, but the wave to wake doesn't.

Could you please send me a screenshot of the "More Info" page by clicking on the button at the bottom of the app? That would be very helpful.

Never mind, finally got it working with a fresh install. I was using it in a darker room earlier. You might want consider a sensitivity adjustment, just a thought.

This app does not use ambient light sensor. I have tested this app on stock 6.0.1 on G4 plus and G3. Also on stock 5.1.1 on G3. I didn't get any issues. I don't know what's wrong with stock 6.0.

Sorry for double

It works nice on xt1540 with stock 6.0
Can't turn screen off with the handwave and hold though, but I've been using nova's double tap so it's not a problem for me
Great work, thanks!

Working Well, thank-you:fingers-crossed:

Do also try the music volume notification.
The "Wave-n-hold for screen off" will be made better in the next update.

I think this is aimed more at people still running stock, as all the custom Roms have ambient display built in.

and check "motodisplay handwave", that worked for me
sorry, i'm mexican and i'm not sure if my english is understandable, and if the path that i gave it's like that in english

Incredible! That's what I missed in moto Display. I think moto Display is very good, but ambient display from custom Roms have wave wake. With this app I can combine the best of the two.
It really works great (rooted, Xposed, 6.0.1, stock rom).

Does it make much difference? I am using the Motorola one but I'm wondering why you would ask - do different apps provide a brighter light?
The one I linked above is super simple.open it, the light turns on.open it again, it turns off.easy as could be

No, but motto puts a time limit on the led. I assume it is to protect the led from over heating.

Been using this one since my Driod 1. Lets you use screen or LED and seems to be very lightweight (would have posted the actual link, but I never really posted to XDA... just mainly read. Need to get rid of the stupid post restriction)
I use the flashlight in Power Toggles. I keep a set of toggles on a lock screen widget (WiFi, sound mode, Bluetooth, flashlight, GPS) and the flashlight is one of them.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
TeslaLed, you can set a widget with it that automatically turns it on. It also has strobe options I believe. But it also works great with Tasker as it is built in as a plugin or 3rd party options. I exported an app with Tasker App Factory so I can activate it via voice as well.

auto brightness too dark?

Does anyone else have this problem when brightness is set to auto and you wake the phone in the dark the screen is too dim?
It's fine when you wake the phone in bright places.
I have the Verizon Note 5.
Thanks.
I personally think it's too bright in the dark
Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk
yup. its painfully dim on auto setting. Verizon note 5 here...

This doesn't let you set the auto level after you set auto like the s6?

I think he's referring to when you check the auto box and you're able to increase the auto brightness level on the slider, so you're auto brightness is relative to the slider.
I have the AT&T version and this does not work.
I to am having the same problem.
On the international version of the Note 5 and it just started happening to me. I walked outside and thought my screen broke because I couldnt see a thing with auto brightness on. No idea whats going on.

Moto actions no-stock

Hi all, is there a way to keep moto actions on no-stock rom, whit a porting or something like this? Thanks in advance..

If you build a custom ROM based off of a stock build I believe you can. However I haven't found a custom ROM with the ability and believe it is closed source.

Well, is it something like the slowmo function that need some motorola stock libs for working, or it simply "a gesture" and nothing else? what i would to know is that if is enough fash some ported app like "moto" or "moto actions" for have gestures working on no-stock roms!

I tried just installing the moto apk for that but I get a popup saying not official Motorola device. The function is a mirror of ambient display sort of. Moto actions (chop chop, double twist) are already implemented in most custom ROMs for our device. (Including official CM)
Another user made a package for the moto camera and gallery with play store hooks, I'm gonna try that and installing moto with it. I'll report back.

The module it's called ac display, but.. I thinking about it, i remember that on CM 12.1 for moto g 2nd generation there is something very close this function, under "gesture" menu in display option, if I'm not mistaken... Try to take a look if you have this menu.. In this case, whit cm actions and cm gestures, the moto application it's useless, unless you use "do not disturb" function.. That if I'm not mistaken again, it's included on cm too!!!

Yes there is...the cpu, for example, has the ability to keep the display active while sleeping. There are differences, but I believe the N6 is essentially a twin of the retail Moto X, just in a different chassis.

Hi guys,
Just spotted this on the app store.
It allows you to use the built in led for notifications. Working on factory ROM but requires root.

It doesn't work. It only dims the screen. Color profile is unchanged. This feature is built into Resurrection Remix (maybe CM13 too, not sure) though.
Also, this app works and will do what you want without root: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.ne.hardyinfinity.bluelightfilter.free
Thanks. Bummer, the nightmode widget worked so well with my GN. With it only are red pixels used so resolution wasn't great but night vision was preserved. Kernel dependent unfortunately.
The overlay filters are helpful but not as effective for astronomy.
