Does the 1+3T share the big GPS problem of the 1+3? - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

Like the title, can anyone that already has the phone check how the GPS lock/tracking is doing? The 1+3 is known to have big problems with moderate to heavy gps use, and I would like to know if the problem is present in the 1+3T.
Thanks.

Never had a problem with stock op3 and gps. Now custom ROMs had some problems with gps on my device. So far no problem with my 3T and GPS.

How are you gauging there isn't an issue? Mine is fine for driving and navigation but it's useless at accurately plotting my location on apps such as strava and google fit.

Google navigation...I've used maps without WiFi or cell coverage (just gps) at Ricketts Glenn in Pa while hiking and it was darn close to where I was on the maps. Maybe the apps have issues?

The apps don't have issues.
There is an issue, you're just lucky
https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/one-plus-3-gps-tracking-issues.453067/

I will 100% return it, if I got any gps issues with 3T..
Im 99% if any issues exist there is bad antenna connection... which will go even worse after time..

very poor GPS reception?

Ìs anybody else experiencing very poor GPS reception? Compared to my old HTC Desire, the reception and logging with Sportypal or MyTracks is waaayyyy off. Always! No spikes or something, but really just way off, 20 meters left/right. I have this issue both with stock ROM and Temasek's CM7. It really sucks, logging basically almost becomes unusable for running, because workouts need a lot of post adjustments.
I tried using a utility caled "GPS Test", to download latest GPS coördinates for Assisted GPS, but it actually doesn't make a difference.

You mean before you get a GPS lock at all? Or you mean you get a GPS fix quickly, but it's accurate only after 10-15 minutes?
I get a GPS fix pretty quickly, that's never the problem. Only the accuracy is the major problem.
I get a fix....it takes about 15 mins for accurate loc
Same here i get fix in few second, but way off on the map.

@dmxl,
Maybe you can try out this app called FasterFix featured in XDA:
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/speed-up-your-gps-fix-with-fasterfix/
CM7 for the 2x comes with europe.pool.ntp.org as GPS server.
If you're not living in Europe your fix time should get better when you change to a server for your region with the FasterFix app (get it from the PlayStore).
In case this won't help either try the GPS Aid app which does tweak some more values - but I've never used it and don't know if it will help or not.

Ok tried with only 2G. Accuracy is even worse. Overall, with either 2G or 3G, it's só bad to such an extent, that it would be more accurate for me to just not use GPS, and draw the line myself in the browser with Sportypal or My Tracks and fill in the minutes of the total duration.
It's basically unusable compared to my old HTC Desire (which I sold, stupid me).
Man oh man, must be a pretty crappy GPS chip....

Same here, i've used Temasek's CM7 Kang for a loooooong time but switched to Owain's CM9 Kang a couple of weeks ago and ever since i've been getting faster and amazingly accurate fixes, even indoors.
Not sure if that's coincidence or a real improvement though.

Compass not calibrated?

I have a new Note 4 that i got on launch day and my compass goes crazy after a day after doing a battery pull. The battery pull fixes it, but not for long. Is there any way i can fix it or should i get a replacement? I hope this isnt a hardware issue... Any help? Thanks! It starts off fine. Then goes off by 120-180 degrees. Help.

Did you try turning the phone 360 to test the compass for all the directions, because mine works if i go south our west, but when i go north or east it goes crazy and jumps around and spins, it may be hardware issue, so I may replace it, please feel free to help or update on the problem for anybody other than me that has this. Thanks kietht!

Mine is working better now, maybe only 5-10 degrees off and no jitters, i would recommend turning off the phone, taking out the battery, putting the battery bacj in and restarting it, it seems the soft reset did it for me, some temp. Compass files may :laugh:have been messed up, just dont use gps status and toolbox unless its really messed up.
Cheers!

LineageOS 14.1 for MI MAX 2 (oxygen) by xuefer

Hi since we have a couple of Lineage roms i personaly prefer the one by xuefer becasue the battery life seems much better for me.I also wanted to see if we can fix the few things that need fixing like ir sensor and some security updates let me know what you think and if you have any fixes for this rom.Who know xuefer may return and suprise us with a update no offence to Ashwin he has done a great job of his rom some will follow this rom and some Ashwins.ANy fans of xuefers please come and help fix the final pieces of the jigsaw and make this rom perfect.

I am completely with u. With IR blaster in xuefer i wouldn't have changed to the Ashwins lineage, which is good too, and he did a respectfull super job, but battery is weaker, drains faster. However, i don't know what safety violation on GPL was meant to be....... In xuefers. Nevertheless i am the only Person with headphone Jack problems in lineage. I would go back to xuefers, if ir-Blaster is fixed. If battery in Ashwins gets better, and no headphone jack probs i would stay with Ashwins, cause of ir-Blaster, which has great function.

admittedly, i havent tested the ashwin los yet. havent gotten around to setting up my phone completely anew, since i always prefer to do clean installs in order to avoid any potential issues.

Same here if was to go official i woul probly change but not at the moment the batterylife on Xuefers is just insane sleeps like a baby 0 drop over night.Besides Xuefer could decide to come back and then we would have some competition on our hands.
Anyone wish to increase battery life, sure check out root booster by Dominik on playstore. I have seen a huge improvement and I am using extreme mode battery boost. I am currently on lineage is by Ashwin(12/03). Using for last couple of hours.
Avg battery use: 1.9%/ hr
Sot: 3.6 %/ hr
Further I am using Greenify aggressive doze and few kernel tweaks.

once its properly configured, definitely and using greenify/kernel adiutor doesnt hurt, hibernation and kernel tweaks squeeze out a bit more battery life

other than the battery life, is there any other plus side in switching to xuefer's version?
and what are the other issues in xuefer's rom?
am currently on ashwins. just waiting to have some free time to flash xuefer's rom, out of curiosity.
I'm actually looking for a rom that I will use for long term. I just don't have the time to keep on flashing roms. Will find out that's stable and use it for months
xuefers sleeps like a baby because his ROM uses "these apps" - Brevent.
Brevents is kinda similar thing to Greenify....
I use Greenify on Ashwins 12/03 build and it sleeps like a happy baby!

WhatsApp sensor usage

Anyone else noticed extremely high accelerator sensor usage for whatsapps? App is optimized battery usage wise and seems to not be active all the time which is good ,however the sensor time is very high which I believe prevents my device going into deep sleep as much as it should.
I denied WhatsApp Google play body sensor permissions on initial installation meaning I allowed I enabled it for the installation but then disabled it body sensors in Google play services after install was completed. So unsure why sensor time is still present and high.View attachment 4695340View attachment 4695341View attachment 4695342

i dont think this is an "issue"
it jsut feels more and more such things are left in for ages to get to use on a later date or at least offer the possibility.
when we look at the daily new trackign methods by the big ones i really going to become a aluhat collector
either that or whatsapp has an incredible lax QC Department dont ****ing care of bad code in the app.
both are equaly possible when i look at todays software qualitys of any of the big ones...
yet another reason to switch away. telegram seems to be popular these days

I still don't want it to use the accelerometer though, and there's no way to disable it through permission, service or else.

It doesn't seem to directly drain battery but appears to prevent the device from going into deep sleep mode thus more drain when not being used over a period of sleeping in bed for example.
I much prefer Telegram, but some of my contacts are still on WhatsApp. Else I would just delete this app.
