how you updating.
Boot loader is unlocked out of the box probably that's why you can't update.

Same version as me. You have a vendor ROM and not the official ROM installed on your phone. I don't know how to check if the bootloader is locked/unlocked.

I've got 8.0.10.0 (mahcndi)
What does that mean?
What's the difference between vendor Rom & official Rom?

Forgive me for my noobiness here but now I am worried. If I have the 8.0.7.0 mahcndi does this mean I will not get the official updates or any updates at all? When it's an official rom do they still come ota even if I'm in Canada for example.
Thanks in advance

Do you have 8.0.7.0 or 8.0.7.0.0? If you have the latter one, then you will not get updates.

Thanks whatwhat,
So it seems I have the double 0 so that sucks. Do you mind if I ask what I need to do to get this phone on a version that will give me the updates when they are available. Again, any direction you can provide me would be greatly appreciated.

You can check if your bootloader is locked or unlocked and that may be preventing it from updating. http://en.miui.com/thread-279195-1-1.html
But you really need to flash the official MIUI ROM to keep things updated.

Shouldn't there be updated versions of these multi-language ROMs we can get and update through the built in updater?

I highly doubt it. Any custom ROM has the same behavior.

I'm in the same situation and am looking for some much needed help: I purchased the Mi Mix and have 8.0.7.0.0 installed. This is all new to me, but this forum has been very helpful, and as I understand this is a vendor ROM and as such I will not be able to get OTA updates. That indeed sucks.
I'm trying to find out what I need to do to my phone on a version that will allow me to receive updates in the future. I've read posts about checking if my bootloader is locked or unlocked, but as I said a lot of that is over my head. Does anyone have some advice, "101" type help that they can provide?
Can I simply download the Stable ROM 8.0.8.0 (or even 8.0.12.0), copy to my phone, run MIUI8 and select the update package?
Surely its not that easy?
ADB, Fastboot, etc.. its all new to me. I would appreciate any assistance. Thanks!

Unlocked bootloader won't stop updates just vendor rom. you are right it's not that easy follow the guides in the guide section.

still stuck on 8.0.7.0.0 and this is what adb tells me:
...
(bootloader) Device tampered: false
(bootloader) Device unlocked: true
(bootloader) Device critical unlocked: true
(bootloader) Charger screen enabled: false
(bootloader) Display panel:
OKAY [ 0.055s]
finished. total time: 0.057s
Thats greek to me.
Is that good / bad?
Can anyone point me to a specific URL with step by step instructions to get this off the vendor rom and onto something updatable?
TIA

Problem after flashing firmware

Hi,
I was in the process of flashing new firmware (iI have a thread for this when asking advice and followed the steps on my previous thread) I was flashing firmware 5.11.401.11 which loaded succesfully and rebooted to bootloader.
When it rebooted a driver message cam up I think regarding Qsub or something and the device has frozen or dead.
In the command window it says "wating for device"...i cant seem to get it to do anything!!
My device shows as other devices in my computerQHSUSB-DLOAD and the message I recall was about drivers ...do i need to update them?
Any help please?

Seem's like you may have skipped an important firmware update, which firmware number were you updating from?
If you skipped a firmware version e.g 3.xx.401.x to 5.xx.401.x then you will be needing the Unbrick project here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2770684

Fastboot works just the same in Linux as in Windows with the exception of you must use "sudo"
So
Code:
fastboot devices
becomes
Code:
sudo fastboot devices
Code:
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
becomes
Code:
sudo fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
and so on if you forget to use sudo you will just see "waiting for device" in which case press ctrl+c to cancel and do command again with sudo :good:

What actually happened is when I was flashing from 4****** to 5***** when I tried to reboot to booloader my PC wanted to reinstall device drivers ,which I think I cancelled by mistake causing the hang up?
I have unbricked and now in bootloader waiting for the device to recharge fully.
I have then got to flash the 5****** series of firmware again(as instructed by the unbrick software).
I will then either install a custom recovery and flash my jellybean back-up or a custom ROM, do you think ARHD 84 will install on the 5***** firmware? I dont fancy going to 6**** until all is ok.
Or is there a way of flashing a stock o/s that can be flashed from TWRP? for the WWE firmware?

Ok I have unbricked my device and used TWRP to recover my back up....however after flashing up to 5******** firmware ,the firmware seems to have reverted back to the 2******* series I started with??? Is that correct?
If so I have to start all over again?

I intend to carry on where I left off...I havent got as far a flashing the new rom.
The 401 firmware I am using is currently 5.11.401.10 ,next step is the 6 series.
Is it best to flash 6.09.401.5 then 401.10,401.11,401.12 consecutively or jump straight to 12?(clearly I dont want to go through the bricking stuff again!!)
Is there a link to a good source of firmware,i looked on the Vomer guide but they are decribed as the dual simHTC one at the download page, is this going to be an issue as I will get them from there as a reliably good source?

I know that some have jumped strait to the latest without any problems and the theory goes as Lon as you don't skip a version number e.g 3.xx to 5.xx then it should be safe.
Obviously the safest option is to flash each update so you know your not missing anything important. As for a good source I prefer to stick with HTC signed firmware from official OTA updates all of which you can find here http://xda7.androidrevolution.org/db_mirror/Firmware/index.php?dir=HTC/HTC_One/401/

Just wanted to report my success flashing this manually through bootloader to my XT1929-4.
Im now on 9.0 but OTA updates are broken due to something being triggered when you manually update. All is working well otherwise.
I will be trying it next. I have the same xt1929-4 and tired of waiting on Pie to get here. Thanks !!

I am on the same build. Well there is no official international pie but only Chinese and TWRP don't work as I said earlier too that the kernel hasn't been updated to pie. So it creates issues.
So there is no TWRP for pie.

nevermind guys, already succeed installing twrp on global rom... I dunno what happened, already tried the fastboot devices command and it detected my device nicely, oem unlocking also works. but when to try installing recovery it says :
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Sending 'recovery' (25401 KB) FAILED (remote: 'Requested download size is more than max allowed
')
Finished. Total time: 0.018s
the solution for me was change the usb cable, and also restarting my windows 10. after that it still gave me same messages for 1 or 2 times, and then it works...
Code:
C:\android\platform-tools>fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Sending 'recovery' (25401 KB) OKAY [ 0.607s]
Writing 'recovery' OKAY [ 0.018s]
Finished. Total time: 0.645s

Question Need help to set back stock ROM

Hello,
I have bought a Mi 11 yesterday version M2011K2G,
I found out that the bootloader was unlocked on it, but when I check it has a global ROM installed already on it,
the thing is that it's not making any update, so I guess it's not an original ROM ?
I want to put back the original ROM and lock the bootloader back in order to have updates,
can you please help me on how I can do this without breaking the phone ?
or I'm I not getting the updates just because the bootloader is unlocked and if I lock it I will get them back ? I'm just scared if I lock it back the phone will break,
or you think I should install back the ROM and lock it back to get everything better ?
Thanks !

Normally an unlocked bootloader has no affort to the update. How did you get notice about that? If your bl is really unlocked I would stay with that.
Are you maybe on latest version? Can you take a screen shot of settings - my device - All secs

I know it's unlocked cause I see the unlocked "padlock" when I restart the phone, other than this I don't have any idea of what modification could have been done to it since I'm used to use my phone the way they come with, thats why I want to get it back to stock ROM or get the updates to make sure it's all good

I mean, is there any way to lock it back ?
I kind of want to make the phone as it went out from factory
I never used mi flash, sorry.
My first step on new phones are always to unlock the bootloader so I can flash root and restore the apps with titanium.
And I got always updates through Ota.
I switched to xiaomi.eu rom, because it was faster with miui 12.5

thanks man, I will try install this ROM you gave me, I have noticed that when I make "download latest packages" it directly says "impossible to download..."
I wonder why it's doing this
Sorry if I misunderstood you, but you will have to scroll down until you see fastboot then a bit more to 'full rom' and click on the blue button
Edit:
Tested it right now and it works fine for me (download started)
Edit 2:
Seems to work with MI flash tool too:
Found on the mitool side:
Step 1: Download the correct Fastboot ROM on the Windows PC by double-checking the compatibility. Then extract and get the workable extensions on the PC (use the Rom above)
Step 2: installation bla bla
Step 3: too
Step 4: too
Step 5: Then attach the ROM file
Step 6: Switch Xiaomi device into the Fastboot mode. So turn off the device and simply take a long press and hold the keys of Volume Down and Power keys
Step 7: Then connect the device to the PC with a proper USB cable which is in the Fastboot mode
Step 8: Now you can enter the tool interface and check whether the device is connected
Step 9: Then select the most suitable flashing option from all three “Flash all”, “Flash all except storage” and “Flash all except data and storage”
Step 10: Hit flash from the top of the window and wait for several minutes
Step 11: Once the process is done you can reboot and finalize the process successfully.

For my understanding it will work too. The 12 GB ram is EU is not available but it's only additional ram and does not have an other rom.
... So if you can install and use your phone with that rom you will have no issues with updates

Be careful, don't lock bootloader with a global or EEA ROM on CN hardware, you will brick your phone.
Take care when using Miflash with CN flashed to global. Now you are on production software, best to stay there unless you want to install custom ROMs. OTAs should work now. 12.5.1.0 is the latest for EEA.

Isn´t all Mi 11 CN = China hardware ? I think it is safe to relock bootloader if you are on original ROM. Do you mix hardware and rom with each other.

do you think that even if it's a Chinese version, if I'm on an officiel original ROM (even if it's global and not chinese) I can relock the bootloader ?
