Nav bar... - Xiaomi Mi MIX Questions & Answers

Forgive me not finding it, I did look, but I thought I recall seeing people talking about how to change the color and behavior of the nav bar on the Mi Mix (bar with home, back, menu buttons). I think I would prefer if it was just always dark and maybe also always present. Looking for options to play with.

Would love that too. I normally have everything at least darkened but not white. Unfortunately I think you can't change menu and NavBar Color on your own but only with a theme which changes everything and (mostly) has to be "bought" with mi credits. Very frustrating.
Hope someone has a better answer.

I'm using Xposed and a module called flat color bar... It colors the navbar to match whatever app you are using. Requires root tho obviously.

I just took Nav Bar completely off, i know you said you want it to present all the time, but to me, taking it off extend the screen and you get to see more. I have been using it like this for few days now, imo so much better than having that bar there. Amazing to have all apps in completely full screen.

You use that dial thing for navigation, or what?

I use float menu, no overlay, just simple swipe and it's exactly the same as having the nav bar. but you at least extend the screen to be totally full screen on all apps

There's an app called Navbar Apps that lets you change the color of the navbar without root. Though it has a problem with the Mi Mix since the navbar is rounded. Where the radious begins and below it on the navbar it will always be white so it looks a little weird on this phone unfortunately.

You can just swipe it away and it will stay away and use the "Quick Ball" instead.

If you are rooted there is an easier way using xposed framework, just download and install " force immersive mode" which gives you glorious full screen for what ever app you wish.....ive enabled it and it's absolutely awesome...the nav and status bars just disappear till you need them.

Hi, Not able to do this in Vendor ROM. Not getting any swipe option.
I am awaiting unlock code from xiaomi for last 3 days :crying:, hence can't go to EU ROM yet.

I was looking all over but this. After hiding even the black bar went off. Very happy now.
Will wait for unlock, install EU rom, nova launcher and desktop visualizer to create invisible icons.
Then entire screen will be clean as slate.
Thanks once again.

you can change its color and or presence permanently IF you unlock the bootloader and root the device. Personally I am going to go the non root method and just have it hide whenever possible. I see no reason to risk anything root /bootloader wise just to change what should be an option already in the ui.

Auto hide the NavBar soft keys. [Root required]

An awesome app I downloaded at the suggestion of @xPhantom is GMD Auto Hide Soft Keys which can be found https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gmd.hidesoftkeys
The free version of the app is okay, but if you're willing to shell out the $4 for the Pro version it becomes an amazing app. There are various ways you can auto hide the soft keys set up within the app as well as the option to change what the keys themselves look like.
Just figured I'd give everyone the heads up because if you're like me you despise the fact that a portion of your screen is being hogged by those stupid keys.

Nice post, @StormMcCloud
I was going to use pie at first, but I decided this fulfills my needs perfectly. It's a nice and simple way to hide the nav bar while also having a little bit of customization.
Just installed it and love it. I was using pie but this is so much easier to use and works really well too.
There's also Ultimate Dynamic NavBar as well.
Available here on XDA (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2270198) or the Play Store.
I've been using pie from Viper since it came out but recently added Vipers Nav bar (it auto hides) to the bottom and pie on the right. That way my wife can stop cussing about how she can't figure out pie when she wants to use my phone.
I've been using this also just decided to buy the pro version today. It is awesome. Only thing I don't like is even when holding the camera in portrait I have to tape the left side to get the nav buttons to go back or home. Not a huge deal though. When people use my phone they are like how do you go back?!?

If you go into GMD and enable "Landscape Side Mode," the nav bar will be where it's supposed to be while using the camera.

**update** while it's a cool app, I found it to be a bit buggy as I used it more, but the thing that ultimately made me stop using it, the nav bar wouldn't pop up while in the camera, I had to go into the gallery from the camera in order to get the nav bar to come back. I ended up getting the nav bar in Viper one to work for me, so I'm now using that and it's not buggy at all

[REQUEST]Virtual Home - Use your touch ID as a home button

Hi guys [emoji4]
Now that exposed is available for our s6, i would like to have an app that allows to go home tapping the button instead of pressing it... Is it possible to have something like that? I mean something like double tap of iPhone 6 plus.
Thanks to all devs
My thoughts exactly!!
I would love to have something like that, so you don't actually need to press the home button, but just touch it!
But wouldn't that interfer with the fingerprint? When you touch the sensor to unlock or anything similar the touch would brng you back to your homescreen.

I don't really know.. But I know there is an Jailbreak tweak out for the iPhones, that simulates exactly what I am looking for.
Here is the link for it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MzUoMUFVYVE
I've had many Samsung phones before, and after a while my home button always started to make funny noises (like cracking a bit, or not being sturdy anymore..)
I know that S6 home button is high quality and all that, but I would still prefer "simulated" press on the home button.
And I am sure that it can be done, it just takes someone who knows how to do it, and wants it as much as I / we do.
Maybe the OP should change the name of the thread to "Virtual Home - Use your touch ID as a home button" So more people could see it.
That being said, I would also like to know if there is any xposed module out to change the animation of unlocking on the lockscreen... Like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRMF6CQAdEQ (Ken Dai Video).. So you could put the fingerprint icon on the lockscreen, and it would make a similar effect..
Maybe I am just "shooting to the moon" but I sure hope it can be done! I think everything is possible, as long as it interest the right people..
Also I am wondering if it's possible to set pattern unlock like for the OnePlus 2.

(I know there is a code right here, but I saw it in a video that you can use fingerprint + pattern unlock)
And I sure do hope that someone, someday will be able to port stock Android M to our device as it will have native fingerprint support!
Cheers!

No worries man! I just hope someone has the same wish as us, and makes it happen
will be great if the phone can be unlocked when you put your finger on home button without need to press it before that
and ofcourse to unlock only with the selected fingers
to prevent unwanted unlocks

[Xposed Module] PerfectColorBar - get dynamic navigation + status bar color in apps

So I've been trying to find an app like this forever ! I've tried others like DroidTint, Flat Style and Lollistat but most of them slowed down the performance of my phone. This is the first app that I've found that makes my system look even more beautiful without taking a toll on the performance.
I did not make this module and have nothing to do with it's development. Just thought I would share this and hopefully you guys appreciate it !
Sorry ! Can't add external links as this is my first post >_>
UPDATE: I was watching a movie on Netflix and noticed that the app made the status and nav bar transparent! Looks beautiful!
UPDATE: found a way to add screenshots!

Ditto on the black bar. I actually paid for the app and was super bummed i had to delete it. A good example is the stock clock app which i use every night. if you use night mode like i do there is a gray bar that remains and no way to fix it without turning the function off everytime. That is the only issue i have seen but i dont want to fool with it every night before bed otherwise its perfect

I prefer something that's more accurate and doesn't change color too much.
I stopped using g PerfectColorBar last week. The nav wouldn't match what it was supposed to, but instead it would be the same as the status bar on a few apps such as messenger. It happened after one of the updates though.

LoliStat Reborn is way better.
Perfect Color Bar didnt work with a lot of apps of mine. It messed up my Settings app colors. And the developers first language is not english so the app UI is very confusing.

Thanks for this, that stock navbar was depressing, i've always use swipe navigation and couldn't find a way to get rid of the navbar.
Is Swipe Nav working okay for you? Are you on a 6p with official Nougat? It worked for about half a day and now it just won't work anymore. I can't figure out what's going on. It just doesn't work anymore.

Yeah ma man, working just fine, make sure you are using Swipe Nav by Suphi.
I am and have been for months, including the paid unlocked version. I may just do a clean install next week and start fresh.
