[Recovery][27.09.2017][3.1.1-0] TWRP for the Huawei Mate 9 (hi3660) - Huawei Mate 9 ROMs, Kernels, Recoveries, & Other D

Team Win Recovery Project 3.1.1-0
This has been tested and working great on MHA-L29 international dual sim model. It will work probably on all mate 9 devices, however I added a list of supported devices below which can be checked.
WARNING #1: Unlocking BL and flashing a custom recovery voids your warranty. Please make sure to contact your carrier/seller if your phone is still under warranty after unlocking the bootloader.
WARNING #2: Make sure you have enabled OEM unlock and unlocked bootloader before trying to flash this. How you can successful root and install TWRP will be described below.
WARNING #3: I have not yet fully tested the problems of dm-verity v2.0 introduced in Nougat. So as long as you don't need to modify /system, keep it read only. If you want to edit something inside system, make a backup until I can tell you more about it.
WHAT IS TWRP?
Oh come on, you know what it is - don't try to fool me!
In case you're serious, though...
Team Win Recovery Project is a custom recovery for Android devices.
It allows you to back up and restore your data, flash custom ROMs to your device, repair broken file systems, and root your device.
HOW-TO INSTALL
0. Make sure you enabled OEM unlock in settings, if you haven't please do that now by tipping 10 times on build number (to activate developer options), than open developer options and go to OEM unlock, enable it
1. Have an unlocked bootloader is required! (In my case, I called huawei and received the unlock code 12 hours later)
2. Download the TWRP recovery from the download section below
3. Make sure you got fastboot drivers installed (I will describe this below in how to unlock your bootloader)
4. Open the adb/fastboot application on your pc and go to the directory where your TWRP img file is downloaded
5. Boot your phone into download mode (First method: fastboot reboot-bootloader while connected to pc. Second method: power off your phone, hit power on and volume down until it boots to download mode)
6. Check again if there is written: unlocked phone!
7. If yes type now into your adb/fastboot terminal: fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.1.1-0-hi3660.img
8. Type: fastboot reboot
9. Now boot into recovery by pressing: power+volume up+volume down at the same time
10. Enjoy twrp
HOW-TO UNLOCK BOOTLOADER
1. Call Huawei in the HiCare app, request the bootloader unlock code there (I had to give my email, IMEI, serial number etc) or register yourself here on this link and get the code immediately!
2. You will receive an email maybe a few days or hours later with the unlock code, when you got it you can go on here
3. Install minimal adb and fastboot drivers from here: ADB and Fastboot drivers
4. Plug in your phone and make sure all huawei drivers got installed
5. Enable developer options in settings as described above.
6. Enable OEM unlock, enable USB debugging (both in developer options)
7. Open the adb tool you installed recently
8. Type fastboot devices (now a device number should show up)
9. Type fastboot reboot-bootloader (your phone will now boot into bootloader, if not, you haven't set up drivers or adb/fastboot correctly)
10. This step will wipe all your data! Type: fastboot oem unlock xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (xx is for your unlock code)
11. Ones it's done type: fastboot reboot. Your phone will reboot and you have an unlocked bootloader!
12. You can now go on installing TWRP on your device
HOW-TO ROOT YOUR MATE 9
0. Backup, just in case
1. Have an unlocked bootloader and TWRP installed from above
2. We will use this root method: Phh's superuser
3. Download latest official phh superuser zip r310 version
4. Put the zip on your external sd card of your phone (since we can't access /data in twrp)
5. Boot into twrp and flash the downloaded file
6. Install latest Material phh apk: Release post
7. Now you are rooted, congrats!

Yes. I could also disable force encryption as well.
I will probably be able to make a custom rom with aroma options etc in the near future.

Guys, one question : the unlock code is officially offered by Huawei everywhere? I wrote them an email (Huawei Romania) and they replied they can't offer the unlocking code that being in contradiction with the Huawei's security policy.

I called huawei directly. Told them my IMEI, serial number and email address, a day later I had the code. So they have to release it for sure

Thank you, really !

Rooting marshmallow b550

First of all i have to say im really glad i got this phone over samsung galaxy J5.
Secondly...for the people who does not know how to root Marshmallow latest version im gonna use some resources i found over the internet.
Step by step if you dont have marshmallow install all the firmwares till you you get B170. Remember you have to be on stock recovery all the time
Then download the B550 from [Official huawei P8 lite marshmallow firmware]
and update your firmware.
Now its time for root...
1. Download this archive <MOD EDIT - Warez Link Removed> and unrar
2. Connect your phone to PC(make sure USB Debugging is checked in developer options) run Install.bat file and follow the instructions. This will install TWRP Recovery for 6.0
3. Copy files zip 1 and zip 2 to internal memory or SD Card
4. Reboot into TWRP (volume+ and volume- and power on button at the same time until TWRP appears.
5. Install zip 1 and reboot.
6. Open once SuperSU then close SuperSU and uninstall it!!(push supersu icon and move to recycle bin)
7. Boot again into TWRP and install zip 2 and then reboot
8. Install root browser from google play ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details? id=com.jrummy.root.browserfree&hl=en )open and grant superuser rights.
9. Now open /device/data/app and locate folder eu.chainfire.supersu-1 cut and paste in folder /device/system/app with following rights rwx r-x r-x
Reboot your phone and ENJOY full root access
All credits to 4PDA forum members, XDA members for their annoying questions , dkonect, sokkoban PANDEMiC and his blogspot http://huaweip8lite.blogspot.gr/ (and ofc my patience of wasting all night long on updates, formats, wipes, degrades and workarounds with solutions )

I would suggest you to update on B550 before you start the procedure. It will still show B524 build but its updated anyway on the last version B550.
Please make sure you have Chipset HiSilicon Kirin 620
and use the ROOT.Android.6.0.P8.Lite to install the TWRP.
For me it seems like a driver problem or not unlocked bootloader.
Try by unlocking your bootloader again
Unlock boot loader on your device.
Type in command without quotes "fastboot devices"
If you can see serial number of your phone you are going the right way.
In the command prompt, enter fastboot oem unlock (bootloader unlocking code) , e.g. fastboot oem unlock 321321321321321”
if that didnt work then make sure your drivers are installed correctly
Re-Start windows with Driver signature off and re-apply your drivers. To do this on windows you have to go All settings--> update and recovery---->Recovery----->Advanced startup---->>restart now and after booting your windows in the blue screen, choose Driver signature OFF option. Then reinstall your drivers and restart your phone on fastboot mode (power on and volume - at the same time ) and run the script again.
I tried this a few mins ago on my brand new BL unlocked P8 Lite, i already installed TWRP and 6.0 Beta for Single Sim model, and
now it's also rooted
thx

great news
im glad it works for you as well
The two variant , i mean ALE-L21 single or double sim have exactly the sames hardware.
The difference between the Two variant for single/double sim is only in the firmware you push in your devices.
(I have Two branded single variant and i use the firmware for single and double without any trouble.i only think the single sim firmware is more battery friendly but just a personal opinion)

So far im satisfied for its battery. Ok everyone knows that Facebook and messenger are battery killers...but even with those running, MP3 all day long... my battery lasts for a day on dual sim with the smart battery mode. In any case i will try to update the official B550 spanish version to check the differences (and modify a bit our kernel) .

Had to unlock bootloader and root after that my B550 and almost all the files were on their places (only few files changed place on launcher). Glad i didn't lose anything while unlocking bootloader (watching on you Oneplus)

Hmm... One little question. If i understand right. Balong bug should be shown on "Build Number". On me it shows that i have B550 as it should. But when i go to TWRP and backup. The backup pre-generated name says Balongxxxxx
Apparently that's normal its the build reference of the device nothing to worry about

TWRP for P10 Plus

Here is a preliminary build of TWRP for P10 Plus.

Pretty sure all the normal functions work, with the exception of decrypting data partition. So if you need to read or write files, have an SD card.

Appreciate it. I guess I'm going to be needing an SD card.
@duraaraa Wait wait wait....So, with the phone JUST being released, we have a valid and FULLY functional TWRP, *ALONG WITH* a workable ROOT method too? Really?
That's awesome if so! Are there only certain models / ROMs which we can do this on? According to the linked thread for Mate 9 it says its tested and working great on International Dual Sim MHA-L29 phones, is that the only 1 or type at this stage?

Not only that, but you can switch between versions, once I stop being so lazy and start releasing the OEMINFO for various brandings.
The root and the TWRP will work for ALL P10 and P10 Plus versions, as well as the Honor 8 Pro. They are all the same, more or less.
My full-time job is running a service which deals with only Huawei firmware updates, so I deal with it every day, and have no trouble with these things Mostly the phones are the same. Even to the extent where things like this are possible:

There's a lot of scattered posts from Mate 9 and now a P10+ thread for TWRP and again, separate post again for a more universal root method. So let's try and consolidate them into the one place and focus on the one device - that way we help those who get easily confused (yes, people like me) making sure all resources are in the 1 spot. I may end up creating a separate thread to POOL all resources together. But for now, i'll use this post:
So how do we go about ROOTING P10 Plus - assuming its **MY** VKY-L29 international DUAL SIM model 128GB / 6GB?

Pre-root and TWRP step: OEM unlock code - The guide below mentions calling and then getting an email. How can you get it off their website??
The following is courtesy of @Tkkg1994 for the guide and @phhusson for the SuperUser root method:
HOW-TO INSTALL
0. Make sure you enabled OEM unlock in settings, if you haven't please do that now by tipping 10 times on build number (to activate developer options), than open developer options and go to OEM unlock, enable it
1. Having an unlocked bootloader IS a requirement! ***
2. Download the TWRP recovery (file is in his post, page 1, post 1 - OP)
3. Make sure you got fastboot drivers installed (I will describe this below in how to unlock your bootloader)
4. Open the adb/fastboot application on your PC and copy the IMG file from step 3 into the same root folder of ADB/fastboot
5. Boot your phone into download mode
(First method: fastboot reboot-bootloader while connected to pc.
Second method: power off your phone, hit power on and volume down until it boots to download mode)
6. On this screen, your phone should say "Phone Unlocked". If not - don't proceed.
7. If it IS unlocked, type now into your adb/fastboot terminal: fastboot flash recovery FILENAME.IMG where FILENAME is the name of the file you've download in step 3 with the extension (.img)
8. Type: fastboot reboot
9. Now boot into recovery by pressing: power+volume up at the same time
10. Enjoy TWRP!
HOW-TO UNLOCK BOOTLOADER
1. Call Huawei in the HiCare app, request the bootloader unlock code there (I had to give my email, IMEI, serial number etc)
2. You will receive an email maybe a few days or hours later with the unlock code, when you got it you can go on here
3. Install minimal adb and fastboot drivers from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790
4. Plug in your phone and make sure all huawei drivers installed properly!
Type: fastboot oem unlock xxx (Where 'xxx' represents your unique unlock code)
11. Ones it's done type: fastboot reboot. Your phone will reboot and you have an unlocked bootloader!
12. You can now go on installing TWRP on your device
HOW-TO ROOT YOUR HUAWEI P10 PLUS:
0. Create a backup, just in case
1. Have an unlocked bootloader and TWRP installed from above

3. Download latest official phh superuser zip (At time of copying over this guide, it is 'r275 version') http://phhusson.free.fr/superuser-r275.zip
4. Put the zip on your external SD card of your phone (since we can't access /data in twrp)
5. Boot into TWRP and flash the downloaded file
6. Install latest Material phh apk: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=69224582&postcount=1896

0. Make sure you enabled OEM unlock in settings, if you haven't please do that now by tipping 10 times on build number (to activate developer options), than open developer options and go to OEM unlock, enable it
1. Have an unlocked bootloader is required! ***
2. Download the TWRP recovery (FROM ABOVE)
3. Make sure you got fastboot drivers installed (I will describe this below in how to unlock your bootloader)
4. Open the adb/fastboot application on your pc and go to the directory where your TWRP img file is downloaded
5. Boot your phone into download mode
(First method: fastboot reboot-bootloader while connected to pc.
Second method: power off your phone, hit power on and volume down until it boots to download mode)
6. Check again if there is written: unlocked phone!
7. If YES, type now into your adb/fastboot terminal: fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.0.2-0-hi3660.img
8. Type: fastboot reboot
9. Now boot into recovery by pressing: power+volume up+volume down at the same time
2. We will use this root method LINKED HERE: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software-hacking/wip-selinux-capable-superuser-t3216394
3. Download latest official phh superuser zip (At time of copying over this guide, it is 'r275 version') http://phhusson.free.fr/superuser-r275.zip

6. Install latest Material phh apk: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=69224582&postcount=1896
7. Now you should be rooted, congrats!

While you can certainly focus on the P10+, the P10+, the P10 and the Honor 8 Pro are exactly the same when it comes to rooting/software, so whatever applies to those phones applies to the P10+ as well.
The Mate 9 is also the same, but it needs a different TWRP because the kernel is incompatible.
Obviously, the ROMs for each are different.
I know about TWRP, and I know it's possible to root with PHH, but that you won't be able to modify the System partition. But I don't root, myself, so anything beyond that, check out guides for the Mate 9 and modify them to fit the P10+, and they should work.

So if we want to get rid of some bloatware from Huawei, we are not able to do that? If we chant to change system related items (such as start up animation/audio when powering on, etc), this cannot be done with this kind of root?

You could use Titanium Backup to freeze them, but you can't change system related items with this root, no.
So we can just check the Mate 9, Honor 8 Pro threads (etc) for other root advantages? Is XPOSED is working on them? As that requires a change to system and also what I'm looking to achieve. Is there a way around that for these other phones?

If I unlock my bootloader using Huawei official method, will it void my warranty? The 3-year warranty was a big selling point for me but I'd also really like to root my phone...
Do you think it will be possible to root the phone (with Magisk or something) without unlocking the bootloader/voiding the warranty ?

Any way to root at 7.0 ? [solution found]

As in the title. I have an EVA-L09 running android 7.0 .
I am about to unlock the bootloader but from what I gathered on the forums here, anyone who proceeds with rooting on 7.0 either simply fails to do so or is stuck in a boot loop.
So: has anyone rooted on 7.0 and how did you do it?
Big thanks
The more important thing is what is your build number. I know for b38x and higher you need a twrp with loop support and flash able SuperSU with loop support. I'll post links later on how to do this.
I do have my phone rooted on nougat by the way.

Yeah, sorry for not mentioning it before - it's b386.

Steps
Unlock BOOTLOADER
Install TWRP
Flash SuperSu via TWRP
I have B366.. do you have some procedure working?
Inviato dal mio EVA-L09 utilizzando Tapatalk
Okay, so, after shoveling through a huge amount of threads and then managing to comprehend what they say (I assume English wasnt the authors native language) I unlocked the bootloader, flashed TWRP and then Chainfire. Thanks to the corresponding posters anyway - I don't know if I would have been able to root properly without them.
I did NOT use the official versions of anything - neither SuperSU or TWRP:
Anyway, here are the threads I used:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/development/root-supersu-2-81-emui-5-t3612258 (for SuperSU, 1st link works for 386, I picked permissive SE for older builds go to the second link section)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/development/twrp-t3565703 (for TWRP, this seems to be specifically updated to work on all P9s)
I had no issues during the whole process. As for the bootloader code, I had to contact Huawei support as they give out the codes freely without any nonsense (just had to wait 1 working day).
Also - HRK tool as far as I could tell ISN'T recommended on newer builds. If you use it, you run a huge risk of soft bricking your phone - it uses outdated versions of everything and that's why it breaks peoples phones.
How did you unlock your bootloader ?

Used
Code:
fastboot oem unlock codehere
Got the code from Huawei support, you can email them and they're required to give you the code. Took a day to get it from support where I live but thats understandable as I contacted them at the end of a working day.
Can you (please, please) give me a full tutorial ?
Like, what do I need? ADB ? How do i set everything up?
How do I start my phone in fastboot?
I am kinda a noob when it comes to doing stuff manualy..

[Unlock Bl] [TWRP] Guide To Unlock Bootloader Of Meizu Pro 7 (p25)

Note:- Credits To this guide goes to {Diablosss}
GUIDE FOR UNLOCKING BOOTLOADER OF MEIZU PRO 7
(Sorry for the inconvenience, but there are some issues in posting pictures. Therefore requesting you to please check the attached files for images)
This guide can also work with many other Meizu devices. Checked on 15, 16 all options (s, t, x) and on Pro7I post the archive and instructions in pictures.
Step 1: Download. Unpack. Run meizublunlocker.exe
meizublunlocker:-https://drive.google.com/open?id=1yEm_vZo4rsqEtii279AU6l1mBajiSPQ2
See Image 1 in Attachments.
Step 2:-We connect the phone to the computer in fastboot mode (hold down the Vol. Down and power buttons), click refresh. The program must identify the device.
See Image 2 in Attachments.
Step 3ress CheckBL to check bootloader status.
See Image 3 in Attachments.
Step 4:-Click the Create Request button. This will create a file with the end of req.dat in the folder with this program
We send it to the e-mail [email protected] and wait for the response file to unlock the bootloader.
(This takes usually 1 week to receive the unlocked file, but you can donate to get the file within 3 hours)
See Image 4 in Attachments.
Step 5:- After we received the unlock file with the end of res.dat, click UnlockBL and select the resulting file.
See Image 5 in Attachments.
If the file is correct then get this answer
See Image 6 in Attachments.
That's It. We successfully Unlocked the Bootloader.
Now the next thing is to install the TWRP in our Device. ( Further credits goes to{ sergpolov} )
Step 1: Download and install "adb_run"
adb run:-https://drive.google.com/open?id=1y4wdL53-P7mybKsj5XeimHRoMSpokMkQ
Step 2:- Download the required Files.
Stock Recovery Pro 7:-https://drive.google.com/open?id=1e2tRdqLi5jsT8J854RMcIA-jvZyR7xhT
Twrp Pro 7:-https://drive.google.com/open?id=1uYOT9HGractYuoJvRidgAgh8IBLhzFtu
Step 3:-We load the phone into fastboot mode, flash through the fastboot the recovery you need.
Launch the application shortcut
Step 4:-Click "3" - go to fastboot mode
See Image 7 in Attachments.
Step 5:-Click "3" - recovery
See Image 8 in Attachments.
Step 6:-Here we select the recovery file: - in the window that opens, we throw the file itself and close the window with the file and press any button.
See Image 9 in Attachments.
The process has begun.
See Image 10 in Attachments.
Step 7:- Choose "Y" and "Enter"
See Image 11 in Attachments.
The recovery firmware process is over!
Next Few Steps are Extremely Important , so follow with caution!Step 8:-Reboot into Recovery Mode(hold down "Power" and hold, as soon as the screen goes blank, hold down the second button "Volume +" - hold it until vibration and release "Power", and after it release the button "Volume +")
Step 9:-To disable encryption of the "Data" section (who installs TWRP), we immediately flash the zip archive - tool-root_unlock-Testing-Pro7.zip
(disables encryption of the "Data" section, disables Boot and Recovery checks, installs Magisk and disables system root) and reboot into the system.)
tool-root_unlock-Testing-Pro7.zip:-https://drive.google.com/open?id=1a3Gyyuoo2Jv3EN7EWPwj389tXorSwkxT
Attention ! When installing custom recovery (TWRP) on your device, for the full TWRP functionality, you should format the internal memory (Data section) of the device using TWRP itself, since the "Data" section on Meizu smartphones is encrypted, I highly recommend it before installing custom recovery , on creating backups using the internal Flyme firmware (after creating the backup, it is located in the "backup" folder of the internal drive), as well as copying all the necessary data from the phone’s internal memory to the computer!
NOTE:-No One shall be responsible to any damage ocurring to your device
Doubts and queries are welcomed .

Yeah you r right and this guide is also taken from meizu 16th only, but this is tested now because qualcomm devices requires port_traces.txt and unlocked bl.bin files whereas for pro 7 we are using to res.dat which uses fastboot driven commands only.. Thats why it got successfull. I am also posting pictures for proof. (Shared by diabloss).

You can have magisk now and various other thing . You can directly flash service firmware now by flash tool. Custom roms are also there. Like 5$ dollars for a mediatek device is reasonable.
In this TWRP, could we install anny official ROM (Global or Chinese) in it's standard form (update.zip)? Or some file modification in the zip archive is required?

Well, it would be nice if some very talented enthusiast developer or team of devs would build a custom ROM based on Android 8 or higher (if it's possible, of course).
I saw there is single custom ROM, AOSP, but it's still based on Nougat, like stock Flyme. This makes it uninteresting for me, because it brings nothing new over already very-good-full-of-options Flyme ROM based on Android 7.0.
Maybe time will bring us custom ROMs based on a newer Android, at least Oreo.

theoretically its not possible to update android version.. Because we dont have the source code to develop a higher version kernel .. But still there is a hope to port a rom based on android 8 but cant sure for stability.

Lenovo P2 is a snapdragon device. The source code and device tree can be found easily. Unlike mediatek , snapdragon never hides such things that's why the development is high on SD devices. Mediatek released kernel sources till Helio p10 then never disclosed anything. For higher android version roms we have to port kernel to higher version. Meizu pro 7 is right now on 4.4.15 kernel ver. For higher version we need kernel of 4.4.15+. I hope i cleared your doubts.

So, it's all about the source code, kernel sources and so on.
From my point of view (and my knowledge), there are two major steps or two issues that need to be addressed to successfully develop ROMs and kernels for a phone:
1. As you said, the source code must be released publicly.
2. The bootloader must be unlocked (or easy to unlock), for all these mods and kernels to be installed through a custom recovery (IF a custom recovery is developed).
Please correct me if I'm wrong (I'm seeing these things from consumer/user point of view, not like a programmer/developer/coder).

Below US snapdragon devices can be bootloader unlocked with above service as long as bootloader version meets below criteria. Bootloader version can be determined from the 5th character from the right on the baseband version or build number, in some cases from kernel version
Below Method is no longer supported if you choose to use the unstable method below you do so on your own
This method is brought to you entirely by @elliwigy He is the reason for this exploit and method.
With that being said, Extreme Syndicate Root is now available!
Before Starting This Process Get A USB2 Mini Hub You Are Most Likely Going Too Need It
EXTREME SYNDICATE ROOT METHOD
OEM Toggle Does Nothing On US Model Phones
This root method breaks things and most likely will not be able to be used as a daily driver
You can be on any version bootloader. This will update you to V9 bootloader
This method will work if you are on Android 10 or Android 9 Pie but will put you on Android 8 Oreo. There is no root for Android 10 or Android 9 Pie
You will not be able to use magisk
You will not be able to flash full custom rom like Lineage or any other AOSP roms however GSI system images can be used
You cannot flash custom boot images or recovery images such as regular TWRP
Odin does not work on some later computers with USB 3.1 chip controllers the only work around is using a USB 2.0 mini hub
It is your responsibility to make sure you can use adb properly
Root will break things such as safetynet so deal with it

Notes:
- Safestrap recovery is now available with working MTP while in Safestrap
- This does NOT trip KNOX so don't ask.
- Bootloader is of course still locked.
- This uses some partitions from combo firmware which means 80% battery.
- Each variant will have its own post in its own download section. Download the right stuff!
* Variants this should work on are: N960U/U1/W, G965U/U1/W, G960U/U1/W. If you do not have one of these variants then this forum is not for you!
- Initial files/method will leave you on Oreo stock root.
- It works on latest rev's from rev1 up to the most recent revs.
- As of the initial first release, all variants have an issue with MTP not working except while in Safestrap
- S9 and S9+ also might have some issues with the selfie cam.

2. Plug phone into computer and run Safestrap.exe
3. Follow instructions on screen to enable USB Debugging
4. Then from there the process will be mostly automatic just follow prompts on screen
5. When done flashing BootSwap file you need to hold the buttons to boot to recovery but since we swapped boot and recovery images it will boot system.
Instructions For Flash Rom:
1. Download below files and copy files for rom to phone system img and vendor img and odm zip
Downloads S9 Files:
Stock_Rom_G960.7z
GSI_Rom_G960.7z
Download S9+ Files:

2. In safestrap flash system img then vendor img and odm zip .
3. Choose data wipe and advance and check data
4.. Now reboot system you will have to hold buttons to reboot to recovery until you see safestrap splash then click continue. You must do this on every reboot. If you do not it will reboot to stock recovery. If it reboots to stock recovery just reboot system and hold buttons to reboot to recovery again.
5. When rom is booted up your computer will not recognize the phone for mtp file transfer. Adb does still work so you can transfer stuff that way (you need to switch to ptp transfer method in the dropdown) or use USB adapter and use a thumb drive.
6. Biometrics do not work so don’t try to setup fingerprint or face recognition.
The GSI rom mtp works GSI rom is rooted already just flash phhsupersu.apk found in GSI_Rom zip
If using other GSI roms you have too choose A_Only ones and will probably need to flash the Sh_Remover.zip found in the GSI_Rom zip

Gotcha, any idea of when you might get this working for G965U or if you will allow testers?

I did, but you made two posts, one that you said no files have been created and not tested then also state that it has been confirmed.
Since that seems to be the case then my bad for being confused.

As of right now it's still detecting su binaries. So Samsung Pay probably may not work.
On my G965/U1 I do not even see a "/system/etc/init/init.lab.rc" file on my device, is this because I am updated to the latest Android 9 December 1st security patch?

Don't worry about it. It will work on it, it's been proven to work exactly on Android 9, Dec 2019 security patch.
Wow! that's exciting, I can't wait until this releases. Looks like I'm not updating my phone anymore until then. Especially exciting if it works on Android 9 December 2019 security patch
the question is how likely this will be patched in Samsung's next update and how much time this may cause them to delay their next security patch.
Extreme Syndicate Root for S9 is live!!
