Stuck in bootloop - Huawei P9 Plus Questions & Answers

I got a free P9 from a family friend so i decided to tinker around with it.
I successfully unlocked the bootloader flashed twrp and installed SU on it but then I wanted to try the unofficial CM rom on it. But I wasn't getting any signal with it so then i tried to go back into stock firmware which was posted on xda (at the time i didn't know i had the wrong model). After that Playstore wasn't working so tried using another stock firmware that was on xda but then i found the right model that i had (VIE-AL10C00176) but now it's stuck in a boot loop. It would boot up (doesn't show that i have an unlocked bootloader anymore) and then it would restart. Occasionally it boots up into erecovery. I've tried downloading "latest firmware and recovery" from this but it's still stuck in a boot loop. Any idea how I might fix this? (lack of hindsight cause i've done this a lot on other phones but i didn't prep a back up). I'm pretty sure I left USB debugging on before all of this I have yet to test if i can reflash twrp and try flashing another rom to see if this fixes anything (any thoughts?). Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Hello. I would try this way:
1. download a complete dload version from http://www.huaweifirm.com/firmware/p9-plus-vie-l09/
2. unzip it, inside there is a dload folder..
3. format a micro SD card and copy the dload folder on it
4. shutdown the phone. If it does not shut down don't worry.. go to next step
5. insert the micro SD card
6. keep pressed all three buttons (volume+, volume- and power) until it starts flashing
Let me know if it works..

[SOLVED] - i think swapper bricked My O4X, please help,

hi last night i installed swapper from market and ran it. afterward when i restarted my phone, it got stuck on LG logo. i waited even half hour but it doesn't go any further.
condition is that i can't access adb at lg logo screen, but i can have adb on flashing mod which comes when you press power button + vol up .
secondly it doesn't detect my internal sdcard in default recovery. when i try to access sdcard from adb by cd sdcard, it doesn't go in sdcard. when i try to flash another update.zip from ext-sdcard from default recovery, it says unknown volume for path [/sdcard].
so did swapper deleted my internal sdcard partition or what did it do? what is the solution? i tried to find swapper app from adb, went through folders to folder but i couldn't find it out. may be if i can find it from adb and remove it and also it's created file from sdcard my phone come back to life?
in the last my phone is in warranty. atleast someone show me a way to completely remove rooting from my phone through adb so i can take my phone to their customer center.
i also have lg pc suite and mobile support tool.
i had root access with supersu and i installed cwm recovery in my phone. but since phone is not starting up, i can't go into cwm recovery, i can only go in the default recovery.
please help

You tried to flash your version with kdz?
Maybe you don't need to do a clean install and keep your files and apps.

till that i'm gonna find.
by the way i used lg support tool , menu recovery firmware. and it downloaded 472mb file and then started extracting it and then started updating... but stoped at 4% forever.
where should i put my phone? i mean it can't boot into OS, should i go in default recovery and connect to lg tool or flashing mod?

bro its ****in up my mind. there are a lot of things on internet, lots of guides, on xda forums there is a post i saw http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069723
this post is a tutorial to flash kdz, but i don't know what is my current firmware version, if its 20x or 10x. and how can i see that? coz he says don't downgrade from 20x to 10x with this tool, and i don't know if my is 20x may be? and i might make my problem more complicated by doing wrong things.
please guide me with right path. i'm in trouble and i'm not very experienced in these stuff, i just wanna know things i don't know like i don't know which version of kdz i should download from his link, my country is pakistan and it is not in list of countries over there, and there is european open kdz which is 10a 10b etc. which is for me? your signature says you have 20x, i don't see any 20x over there?
i repeat my situation again.
installed swapper
restarted phone
stuck on LG logo
restarted again n again, no luck
tried adb commands to remove swapper package but can't find sdcard in my root.
tried default recovery, wipe data, wipe cache, restarted, no luck
copied a custonexus rom on my ext-sd, renamed it to update.zip, went to default recovery, tried install update from ext-sd, it gives error "unknown volume for path [/sdcard]"
tried to push update.zip to cache "adb push update.zip /cache", it gives error "permission denied" file system read only.
tried to do these things by connecting my phone to pc while phone is in recovery by removing batteries and inserting, Vol down + power long hold, no luck
tried to do these things while in strange mode lol, removing batteries and inserting, vol up + power long hold. no luck
tried LG support tools, menu > customer support > recovery phone while in strange mode lol vol up + power long hold, it downloads, extracts, and on process of updating it gets stuck on 4%, waited half hour, but no luck
tried the above while going in recovery mode on phone and same options above, but it doesn't connect device.
tried to power on and on LG Logo, same did same above but no luck.
tried to go in S/W mode and do the same above, but it says communication problem, remove batteries and insert and restart update.
now thats all i could do and i know at the moment to do. flashing kdz is new thing for me, im gonna try it but i'm not sure where to start. where to download my kdz and which are right kdz for me.
this is where i need your help. please spare me some time and just tell me and think about what could i do now,
why my phone is stuck on lg logo even internal sdcard is not available, i don't know if it's unmounted by swapper, deleted or formated or partition removed. i can't use adb commands to push coz it's read only, I'm stuck
i can't even take my phone to warranty center coz it's rooted, it has root files in it which will show them it was rooted and warranty will void , even if i delete root files, how can i convince them what did i do with my phone that it's system files are touched and they can't be touched without being rooted.

Cannot upgrade P7-L07 with EMUI 2.0

Hi,
a friend of mine has got in China a P7 with a strange EMUI 2.0 firmware (I always knew that P7 came with 2.3 since the first version). I wanted to upgrade it to the EMUI 3.0, then I downloaded the package from emui.com, I extracted the dload directory and copied to the internal memory (the same procedure I succesfully did with mine) but when I booted it holding Vol-, Vol + and Start button I just went into the stock recovery interface.
I though was a problem of the recovery, then I restarted with adb into bootloeader mode but the screen was all empty except for "fastboot mode" wrote at the bottom. When I tried to flash another recovery I got an error saying that flashing the recovery was not allowed.
Anyone knows what the problem is?
Thanks in advance

And also is resisting to any attempt to unlock: do not give Product ID so I cannot produce the unlocking code, neither are working all methods I found on the web. I may have to give up
maybe there is a firmware for your p7-L07 like there is for the p6-u06 where you can flash a so called unicom version and first downgrade and then upgrade/update..
and hopefully this downgrade unlocks the bootloader..
just my thoughts..

Thanks blueIBI, the problem is how to flash it, since the normal way do not work. After copying the dload directory on the phone memory, if I use the system menu to perform local upate or I reboot by pressing Vol+ Vol- Start I always end up in the recovery menu, the firmware gets never installed.
Will try harder.

The phone belongs to a friend of mine. I own another P7 and they look exactly the same. It came in the original box with everything, so I have no doubt that it is original.
The fact that it has EMUI2.0 make me think that it was one of the first released to the market. The phone is working fine, just it is not upgrading on-line and I cannot find a way to upgrade it manually. I will try contacting Huawei support.

Dont bother, I have tried for a week straight trying to unbrick mine. I did a factory reset and it destroyed my whole filesystem. :/
i just got mine so i just got a replacement from amazon

Also for getting into recovery follow these steps. Turn off. Hold volume down and also power. When Asus pops up release power and keep hold of volume until the bootloader appears. On bootloader go down to boot recovery. When it reboots to an android guy hold volume up and down at the same time. Let go of volume up and do this r over and over until it goes to recovery. The steps are ridiculous but I know it for sure because my last week of trying to fix mine has been hell.

I bricked mine, but I am adventurous so found a method to recover to factory.
I'm not providing links as they are searchable here on XDA.
The steps are:
1) Get the factory image from Asus
2) Get FB Tethered Recovery Launcher
3) boot into fastboot mode
4) Hook up to computer
5) ensure the device is listed with correct drivers
6) Run ADB (from your platform tools, there is a copy in FBRL folder)
8) copy the zip file from Asus to the device (adb push /path/to/local/file /mnt/sdcard/path/to/file)
9) Run launcher from FB recovery
10) Choose T2 option, follow prompts to let it do it's thing
11) You should boot into CWM on the device
12) install from zip and point to the zip file you pushed earlier
13) Follow the prompts, and presto, restored to factory and can root/update etc.
I'd like to say thanks to the good info posted here and in other threads. I got stuck in a boot loop tonight and had no idea if I'd be able to fix it. Here's what I did (combination of this thread and others)
My method requires an micro SD card and an Internet connection
1. Confirm you can boot into fastboot:
---->Reboot into fastboot (droid boot) by powering device off (hold power button down), then holding down volume up while powering on. I released the up button once the screen went blank. It should eventually present options to reboot into droidboot, reboot, update from SD, etc.
2. Download the newest firmware from ASUS
YOU NEED THE WW version most likely (worldwide?)
3. Save this to the root of your SD card
4. rename file to MOFD_SDUPDATE.zip
5. Insert card into tablet.
6. While in droidboot/fastboot Choose the option to update from SD. It reboots and uploads the firmware. I was pleasantly surprised that I got my tablet back so easily.
Hope this helps some other poor soul.
There are other methods, but in simplicity, yours seems to win the match. Thank you very much.

Click on recovery. Inside recovery you'll get a "no command" screen. Hit the center of the volume rocker (it'll take a few tries) and you'll see the update command.

Try this, then.
In the main thread somebody linked a temporary cwm session. Try booting into it and installing the update from there (Nandroid while you're at it )
Why would I not even have the option though??

That isn't the issue,
Whenever I go to change the theme it doesnt let me, the stock icons are big and ugly and werent the stock ones I had before.
Does anybody have a guide on how I can remove all traces of this root because its not letting me get rid of these ugly icons.

I think that what he said is this:
- Create a dload folder on sd card root
- Copy update.app (from 136) to dload folder on sd card
- Force an reflash: power off, then vol up+vol down+power
- After flashing, go to huawei updater and update to the last official version for your phone
This is what I've done with mine. And ended with bootloader locked and everything as factory again.
Hope it helps, but if you search the forum you will find a lot of info about this procedure.

If u wipe data and flash u need to include the hw folder to with the firmware in dload folder when u flash to get rid of the ugly icons and get Themes to work.

You have to flash stock recovery via fastboot before this method of complete reflashing firmware. Otherwise flashing process may fail and end up on eRecovery screen.

Full Return to Original Guide

Hello guys. I have a will to root my phone or maybe try one or two ROMs. However I am a guy that always wants to turn back the phone to it's original state. Can anyone of you provide me something like guide to returning to Original state?
Sent from my EVA-L09 using Tapatalk
You need to remember the firmware version you want to go back to (like EVA-L09CxxxBxxx) and install the OTA by copying it on the dload folder on your SD card and powering on with Vol+ and Vol- pressed. You can find the files in this forum. This method works even if you have a custom rom installed or your device does not boot at all.
Some OTAs even lock your bootloader again.
