I have only downloaded the OTA but not applied it. I woke up this morning to a shutdown phone and late for work.
I've also pulled my phone out of my pocket a couple times and been greeted with the "Enter PIN after Reboot" screen.

Rebooted my phone last night, and it turned off and now won't let back on. It was plugged in at the time. It's been 8 hours and won't respond at all.

I had this issue even on full stock. I found that turning off ambient display caused this. Turned it back an and no issues so far. :fingers-crossed:

Does it wake up when you keep the power button pressed for about 10 secs?

Nope. Absolutely nothing. It's like the battery is dead. But it's been on the charger now for over 24 hours and still won't turn on. I've held the power button for over 5 minutes a couple of times just to see what would happen. No response or anything.

is it really the battery of the phone? also possible is the charger is damage? do you have tested with another charger and cable?

Have tried it with multiple chargers. And battery wasn't low when I rebooted. It was at 56%. There's no reason it shouldn't have powered back on. I'm not sure why it won't turn on. I'm not sure if it's the battery or any one of a number of reasons.

Stuck in eternal boot loop with stock settings

I have encountered a strange phenomenon on my HTC One. I woke up and forgot to charge my phone the previous night, so I went to charge it and after about ten minutes it kept turning on and off with the HTC "quietly brilliant" screen over and over again. There is no LED light to signify a charge, and I am able to get to the bootloader screen (I hope that is what it is called) by pressing the volume down but the phone restarts and won't let me click anything. It will only let me scroll down or up once so I can't get to the factory reset. I've tried many battery tricks such as holding both volume buttons and the power button for two minutes and nothing happened. I plugged it into my computer and the same thing happened.
I tried posting a video but the forum won't let me since I'm a new user!
Hoping someone can help me out! I just want to get my photos back more than anything.
Thanks!

looks like the phone doesnt have enough battery to boot, shut it down and let it charge for 1-2 hours at least. If there is no led when charging, its probably because of a bad cable or charger. You can shut the phone down from bootloader: fastboot ---> power down.

Thanks for the quick response! I've switched out the charger to the original stock charger and I'm still having the same problem. The phone will automatically turn itself on after 10-20 mins and go into the boot loop. The other issue is I can't select anything from bootloader because it reboots again. I think the video would be helpful so I might go post on random parts of the forum to get 10 posts.

doesnt looks good mate. Maybe an hardware defect.
Just to be sure, you can power off the phone, if you do it reboots?
Maybe a problem with the power button or the battery...
Sounds to me like a knackered battery, unfortunately, that's one of the down sides of LiPo batteries, when they die they actually still contain 5% charge, if it drops below that, they are pretty much dead and cant really be charged properly again, ive learned this experience from flying radio controlled aircraft, basically, once the power starts dying, land it and charge it, if you push it right to the end, not only do you risk the chance of an expensive crash, but you have also just killed a £70 battery.

Oh man, that means I killed two batteries that day. I was flying my friend's quadcopter and the screen uses a lipo battery, which randomly died and now won't charge Yikes! You live and you learn. Is there anything I can do to "spark" the battery? Or more importantly any way to save my pictures? Thanks for all the replies!

I dont think you'll be able to backup anything with the phone stuck in this bootloop. Probably the battery can be replaced wihout loosing data on the phone.

I don't have a choice when the phone powers off, it randomly does it on its own when I'm in bootloader or if its just sitting there. I don't think its the power buttom because I can still press it, so its not jammed or anything. We have insurance on our phones so I can get a new one. I'm just looking to save the data at this point! Thanks for all your help so far!

Phone keeps shutting off!!!!

Nexus 6 works for a few minutes then shuts off unless it is plugged. This is crazy. Has anyone heard of such a thing? Phone was working perfectly for 2 months until a few days ago.

You mean it's happening for battery or it just force shutdown? If force shutdown then it's a common bug. Or else, it's different issue
Screen just goes black and it's off. Then when I turn it back on it usually makes it to the lock screen and shuts off again

Does it do this regardless of the charge level? Like it does it even at 100%?
I encountered this with my Nexus 6 last week. Whenever it was below 70% battery the phone would just shut off. Sometimes I could boot back up and use for a little while but soon it'd shut off again. On other occasions it would just think that it doesn't have enough battery to power on at all despite knowing full well it has at least 69%.
Same thing with you, when on AC power it worked fine.
I tried a few things to fix it, factory reset, alternative kernel, re-encrypt + factory reset. None of the above fixed it so I sent it back to Motorola. I'm expecting it back on Monday!
reddit and other android forums have similar posts about "randomly shutting off" so it seems we're not alone.

i would try clearing the cache of it first and if that does not work flash the factory images you can keep you data by only flashing system then if it still does not work flash all the imgs for data and cache ect if that does not work RMA time. nexus factory images are here:https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images

I have this same issue, I've tried all the "fixes" and different roms/kernals. I don't think this is the same battery issue others have reported. This happens whether I am at 100% battery or 5% and even if I plug it in, start nexus 6 up, unplug it after it's been running./charged for a while, after 30 seconds or so it will just go black and be powered off. It's the same effect if you pulled the power, since its not even going through the standard shutting down procedures like it normally would if it was just low battery.
If anyone has a fix, please let us know! I'm currently deployed so I can't even RMA the thing, had my wife send out my Nexus 5, so I'll switch to that until I get back to the states.

RMA. Probably related to the battery issues.
Had this exact issues on my nexus 4. Turned out the battery was swollen and damaged. I was told NOT to use it on charge as it could possible blow/leak and get a new one. Like a fool I brought a cheap but supposedly a real replacement but it lasted 2 charging cycles before stopping holding any charge I put in. By this time it had been opened up more times than a crack head whore so I bit the bullet and brought/upgraded to a nexus 6. What a Great phone. but..... Yeah, likely battery issue. FYI I got signal loss moments before it died
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
Power off your phone.Press and hold the Power and Volume Down buttons. This will put the phone in fastboot.Use the Volume buttons to scroll through the menu until you see "Bootloader logs"Press and hold the power key for a long time (7+ seconds) until the phone reboots.

Phone wont turn on

Hey everyone, last night I lost my phone and I'm pretty sure it died, but I got it back this morning and tried to charge it/turn it on but it wont power on. The charging icon also isn't showing. There was a green LED that was on for a little while but now its off. Not really sure what to do with it.

From my experience the LED turns up only when there is too little power to turn on in the first place... Either u busted your Charging port or your charger! And what do u mean you lost your phone and got it back this morning? Fishy!
Alright so last night I left it on the turbo charger for about 3 hours and still nothing. Can't do a factory reset either.
Oh also, I'm pretty sure its charging because the phone does get a bit warm when I leave it on the charger.

Phone dies when it hits 5% battery

So, multiple times now my Note 5 has died within a minute or so of hitting 5% battery. The battery percentage will quickly plummet to 0 and shut down. However, when I plug it in and it shows the charging while the phone is off screen, it shows approx 5% battery. I assume this is a software bug and there isn't anything I can do about it until the next update. Either way, I wanted to see if anyone else is having this issue.
Don't let it get so low anyway. It shortens the battery life.
Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
Yes, thank you. The phone had only ever hit this low a small handful of times.
Regardless, the phone's behavior is not normal. It reminds me of the Galaxy S2 that I had for all of a month in which I was certain was a defective unit. The entire battery would not last more than two hours of use as it would plummet like a rock -- especially in the last 50%. Similar behavior in the note, except --thankfully-- it's only at the last five percent and the battery appears to still have that five percent inside it. The phone just seems to think that it doesn't and shuts down.

Turn off your phone, and then turn it on pressing and holding Volume Up, Home, and Power button at the same time until you see a warning. Then press Volume Up to continue, and navigate using volume keys and select wipe cache/factory reset with the Home button, then reboot.
Please note that by doing this all your data will be lost.
I likely won't restore my phone unless I get super annoyed by this. I'm going to wait until the Marshmallow update to see if this improves with it.
I just watched the phone go from 8 to 1 percent. It wasn't doing anything and I was just staring at it. This was the first time I had ever plugged it in right before it turned off. When I plugged it in, it shot right to 7 percent. I then unplugged it and watched it go back down over a few minutes. This is very odd.

Why do you damage your battery this way? Keep it topped off always as much as possible. Letting it run low shortens it's life. This is a known fact with Lithium Ion batteries.
Sounds like a bug. Easy fix with update
Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk
Did you try just wiping the cache without wiping the whole device? My suggestion is charge it to 100%, unplug charger, wipe cache (While phone is off, press and hold Vol Up + Home + Power buttons, release Power button when you see the initial Samsung Galaxy logo), power down, plug charger back in to make sure it stays 100%, then switch phone on.
People (edit: same person both times ) need to calm down over the fact that I occasionally use my battery to 5%. I mean, really.
Yeah, I imagine it would fix with an update.
Shadow, I'll try that. Thanks.

I knew there HAD to be others experiencing this. Do you have an AT&T model?
I'm currently attempting the battery calibration app route. Most seem to be root only, but I found one that didn't need that. The instructions were to charge to 100%, then use the app to calibrate, discharge fully, then charge to 100%. I'm currently on the last charge -- it discharged over night.
Hopefully this works.
It seems that the battery calibration app has done the trick.
I have this issue as well

Mix shut off on its own, won't power on.

Got my mix like 1 month ago. Stock miui and recently updated it to 8.5.4.0. No mods or unlocking the bootloader or anything like that.
Today, it was at 11% so I plugged it in the charger. 5 minutes in I looked at it and it wasn't charging, so I unplugged it and then it turned off before I could plug it back in.
Now it won't turn back on, the charging light won't light up. It looks dead.
I haven't dropped it or spilled any liquids on it. It wasn't exposed to extreme heat or cold and has a case around it at all times.
WTF happened? $650 down the drain?
What are some tricks I can do to try to save it.
I had a similar problem a week ago. Battery went dead and I plugged in the charger. But I discovered after an hour that it didn't charge. I tried turning on the phone, only response was a quick flashing red light. Tried different chargers, tried holding down the power button for a long time, tried the different butto combinations, no luck. Then I just left it in the charger, and after several hours I finally got a response from my beloved Mix. I took a long time to fully charge, but now it is working normally again. Phew! No idea what went wrong. But keep trying and hoping. Good luck!

Has the phone powered on now? The same thing happened to me too.
My Xiaomi Mi Mix showed low battery sign so I plugged it in to charge. The phone immediately went off. I pressed the power button to restart it, it showed the Xiaomi logo then immediately went off and since then (this was 2 days ago) it has not powered on.
Kindly note the following:
1. It didnt have water spilled on it
2. It didnt fall or have any mechanical damage
The only thing was, the battery was low, I plugged it in to charge and it went off and never came on again. I have used the same charger to charge other phones so I doubt if the charger is the source of the problem.
Kindly help, what is wrong with the phone?
thanks

I havent tried any self repairs or anything funny yet the phone has remained dead.
What can I do now? This is extremely saddening
Mine just did this. My resolve was to hold down the volume up button and then plug the phone in. It should boot into recovery (down for bootloader) and from there reboot into system. I seems for some reason the bootloader is not allowing the phone to charge. You need to get around it.
Happened on mine in the first day. I even thought like why I bought a pos Chinese device. After 30 mins charging, it's started booting by power on button as it's supposed to be. Weird thing.

this happened to my xiaomi mix yesterday. I was using it during dinner. Suddenly the screen wouldn't come on, flashed a bit, then shut down. I was able to hard reset it once. After that, the phone just died. and won't come back on. What do I do?
Please note: the battery was almost full. Did not drop it or get water in it.

I think it's a charging issue, swap charger and cable.
Does pc recognise the phone
Have the same issue. During charging and watching youtube, it turned off. No signal since then.
Changed charger, tried PC... Also disconnected battery and charging for more than 24h.
Now have a new battery and USB board and no signal
Any idea how to get the data from it?
Thanks
