Exnos S2 Kernels Only - Permissive and Regular-710-810-817t-715-815c-817w-815y-815
We may be near EOL, but there’s still a lot of us that use these Tabs. I'm building these in 2 flavors for us. Regular with some goodies and Permissive with goodies. Because of this, other than bugs, they will not be going any further as far as add ons. Please don't ask. I have 7 kernel requests so far, so that's just too many to maintain/upgrade.
You flash this at your own risk. I'm are not responsible for anything that happens!!! There's the discaimer.
Read this post before requesting a kernel!!!!!!!!https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=70490485&postcount=59
Install instructions:
You MUST HAVE TWRP installed to flash this!!
At the least, BACK UP YOUR boot.img IN TWRP!!!!!
Flash Kernel- it'll wipe cache, dalvic automatically, Flash SU, wipe cache and dalvic when SU asks, then reboot
Profit!!
SU 2.79 dl is here: https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/supersu/download/zip/SuperSU-v2.79-201612051815.zip
Kernel Adiutor Mod - XDA version only- http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/kernel-adiutor-mod-singularity-kernel-t3333549 It seems to work well with the S2.
You'll probably need a Rooted explorer, go to /system/app and delete "SecurityLogAgent". To remove the security warning.

If you use the Untested ones, let me know which one and if it works. Then I can update the OP.

See you again. Thank you for my 817w and busy. Will the so-called waiting for the general release of Samsung how long it takes? After all, there is no loose kernel I even twrp, root I have to give up the experience of the official system. Then ask you to remove the hate knos method is progress?

BTW, right now, AFH is having some issues. So it may be really slow

T710 here, the enforcing kernel is working fine. Thank you

hi.engine95
I think, if the source has not been pk5 out. Should I try to roll over to a previous version of the firmware?

Just put your script in /su/su.d. It does the same thing.

Probably. I think because your bootloader is a "3" nothing here works for you. Most of us are "2".

For those looking to set your kernel "Permissive" this is another "Possible" option. http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/kernel-adiutor-mod-singularity-kernel-t3333549.
While I use paid apps, I found this one works well for the S2 and is free. It has an option to set the kernel "Permissive" under "Misc". It seems to be working for the 710 with either of my kernels.
And, I've been adding more to the kernels. So far:
Enabled KSM
Enabled TCP Algorithims - theres a bunch of these
Possibly OC and UC
and......
We'll see how crazy I want to make myself. :silly:

Mounting NTFS drives (checked an external hard disk and a flash drive) is still not possible after flashing your kernel. The tablet is showing a "Corrupted USB drive" message and suggests formatting it. Did I do anything wrong?

Permissive or normal?
I got the same thing with normal kernel. So you didn't do anything wrong. NTFS can be a pain to get working. I'll see what I can do/find.
I just enabled it in the kernel.
Edit. I just tried 3 different build configurations, all no go. This is what I get for building too many kernels at the same time. Lol.
So NTFS is broken/not working. Yet

It was the normal enforcing kernel. I'll check the permissive one later on.
LE: I've also checked the permissive one and it's still not working.

Just flashed the 810 - Permissive - 2CPG1 - UNTESTED on my tab. It's booting but the screen is flickering like on an overclocked GPU-Ram.

I don't know why the 810 build always has issues. I think a file got deleted through git for some reason. I'll need to add it back in manually. I noticed it yesterday.

I don't know what's up with NTFS. It'll read fine with an explorer. Even though the tab says it's corrupt. We just can't write to it.
It'll read thumb drives and my hard drives just fine.
I've enabled things, added things with no luck yet. We shall see.
As for the 810, it builds fine. No errors. Does the regular kernel do the same thing? I may have made a mistake when I packed them up. And if the regular does the same thing, then yeah, I had a brain cramp. Let me know.
Merry Christmas, all!

I have xposed installed, so i don't know if i should flash the enforcing kernel?

[KERNEL][T210/T210R/T211] blackhawk kernel 2.1

First unofficial kernel for Galaxy Tab 3 Marvell PXA988, reported works on T210 and T210R variant (T210 version) and T211 (T211 version)
Kernel source: https://github.com/kumajaya/android_kernel_samsung_lt02
Kernel modules source: https://github.com/kumajaya/android_kernel_samsung_lt02_modules
Features:
Based on my kernel commits and modules commits:
Open source exFAT filesystem driver from Samsung OSRC
Configurable touchscreen orientation, so we can use this kernel as touch based recovery kernel
Override 1MB ramdisk size limitation + xz compressed ramdisk. CWM recovery need > 2MB ramdisk, no blackhawk = no CWM/CWM based recovery
Zram support. Update LZO compression library to upstream version, optimized for arm processor
Linaro gcc compiler. Update Marvell P4JB CPU init routines for linaro
Hardcoded ION carveout memory. Old version bootloader will boot this kernel without blank pop up bug!
Using the latest T210R MJ1 GPU, WiFi, bluetooth, and T211 MI3 telephony drivers. This kernel always bring the appropriate kernel modules inside /system/lib/modules to prevent kernel modules incompatibility issue
Single source for all T21x variants, different kernel config, different flashable zip for T211
Integrated self compiled busybox, fstrim applet included for a lag fix
Auto root, no need to flash any root solution
Init scripts support (/system/etc/init.d, /data/local/userinit.d, and /data/local/userinit.sh)
Kernel module loader template /system/etc/init.d/02modules
Post boot template /system/etc/init.post_boot.sh
Zram manager, over "adb shell" or Terminal Emulator:
Code:
su
setprop persist.service.zram 25
to set 25% memory size zram, persistent.
Code:
su
setprop persist.service.zram 0
to disable zram. Needs reboot.

Special Thanks:
@gr8nole, @hkjr, @klopeck
Note:
I don't own this tablet myself. This is the side result of my work and @gr8nole, making a working kernel for recovery. For better development support, please consider donating.
Both kernel and kernel modules source on my github account already, feel free to fork it. "Don't reinvent the wheel, unless you plan on learning more about wheels."
Flash at your own risk!

Flashed 1.2 and System Tuner reports that both cores are maxed out (1.2ghz) and do not scale back down. I gave it a few minutes after restart and they remained maxed out. (Wifi off, nothing syncing).
Flashed back to 1.1 and everything looks normal again.
Not sure how reliable System Tuner is.
EDIT: Nevermind...flashed 1.2 again (wiped cache and dalvik) and all is well. Both cores scaling properly now.

I'm seeing similar behavior.
does system tuner allow for adjusting settings? i'm using kernel tuner - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1719934
& it was showing the 'min' value for both cores was set to 1205Mhz, the same as the max.
i've backed it down to 312Mhz on both cores & all seems to be good.

I don't think System Tuner does a very good job reporting dual-core devices, but I haven't found a better app yet (still looking).

Trickster MOD much simpler.
running great. Thanks man..
Looks like the IR is not working. I'm going to flash back to stock to make sure it works correctly with that.
Edit: IR blaster works on stock but not on this kernel (v1.2).
Let me know if you need any files from me to get a possible fix.
Does this kernel have more cpu governor or/and I/O governor?
EDIT: Oh nevermind i checked your source.

report
After rebooting the device the subscription to the Wi-Fi network get lost, means I have to reenter the password after every reboot. I don't know if it's the kernel like it is or because I changed the TCP congestion fromm cubic to highspeed. I don't have any experience with this feature. I could change back to cubic and check if the network subscription sticks... .

Would a boot.img backup in this case suffice? I haven't flashed the kernel yet but a boot image backup would contain the old kernel as well. The question is mostly if there are any other modifications that are being done.

If you don't have the zip file, I would say, you could restore the boot and system partition from your backup, this should bring back the backuped kernel.

Ok nice I will try it then. By the way it is better to use ext4 for other partitions than /data and /cache.

All other partitions are simply not supported
Kernel works great so far. No issues and performance feels good.
What's the best way to switch between SELinux permissive and enforcing on this kernel should one want to experiment with that? Some solutions don't seem to like KNOX but it should be disabled on the kernel, too, right? I'm still struggling to get Magisk Hide working so I'm feeling experimentative.

Thanks for showing love to our tablets. Now what remains is some nice Rom to compliment the kernel...
Well done, will give it a try for sure.
Thanks for helping the community!
this kernel shows a boost in performance on the t700 compared to stock kernel....nice!
I noticed some minor issues with the wifi. It takes a lot more to recognize the signal in the switching from off to on. Also it forgets known connections. Did I do anything worng?

Thanks for great work !
When installing kernel on 705 there is message that 805 kernel was installed (I know its a typo).
Testing.
Geekbench scores:
Iron: 564/1593
Stock: 811/1993
This is strange, it seems that your kernel is slower, It might be something related to thermal throttling so im not sure...
Posted in the adoptable storage thread but thought it prudent to post here too. The adoptable storage patch with this kernel would result in saying the sd card is corrupt (3 different cards) by using the stock kernel, formatting the card as internal it worked. Flashed this kernel again and it is still working

That score can differe from each time to time depending on temperature of soc and outside

I have to run it 0 cos of SeLinux Policy issues. Can you PL point me to some online guide of how to compile new SeLinux Policy rules ?
