Google Camera - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

One big advantage von the IPhone 7Plus and the Huawei 9P is the double camera on the backside giving you some functions known from SLRs (e.g. Blur effect in the background).
Google Camera App is offering this by moving the camera during picture, however it is not supported on Oxygen OS (yet). The most recent versions can be installed, but will crash after a second or two...
UPDATED: This is the last version working for Oneplus 3T based on my knowledge...Link below
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/camera/camera-2-7-008-release/

On my 3T it works perfectly without any crashes running stock OxygenOS

This is strange....there are multiple posts that Google Camera is not working on Oxygen OS and 3T. What was your source for download? I am talking about Google Camera (link below), not stock Android camera (which is also kind of Google..)...

I got it from the play store
The only down side is that its an old version from 2015 but it works
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.GoogleCamera

I cannot open that one (wrong country), but I try to get download from 2015 with my source provided. I will keep you updated if its working for my handset for Germany/Europe. THANKS

This one is the most actual I could find working with OnePlus 3T
Download below..
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/camera/camera-2-7-008-release/

Mine is 2.5.052

Thanks for the 2.7 version ! I I had lost hope of a working version
I'm on unofficial CM13 and the google cam HDR quality is far away better than the cm camera in HDR

Is the Google Camera better than the stock one in OOS?

Wow, this is really weird, I've looked for the official google camera app in the play store for a long time without any success (only apk mirrors and such)..
And now you simply provide a link that works and I can download to my OP3T, where did you find it
Downloaded and works great, thank you!!
P.s: the only bummer is that the auto HDR is not supported

Hi there!
That's really interesting - actually, I somehow like the Google cam (obviously even an old one) more than the stock oxygen one. What do you guys think? And is there any chance that we get further updates on Google cam?
Cheers!

Just an FYI,
Google camera 4.3.016.... Works great on the new official OP3T 4.1 ROM (7.1.1). The autofocus doesn't seem to have issues like the stock camera.

Hi! How to adjust autofocus when I shoot the photosphere. Default autofocus in middle position. When I shoot the ground there is no focus.

Same here, I searched a lot while setting up my 3t with no luck.
Thanks for the link! Repped! :highfive:

hi guys, im new here (i just bought my op3t) so i want to know if its posible to have the google camera with all its features ported to a op3/3t i mean the EIS, 240fps slowmotion, HDR+, etc thx

Second this. HDR+ (not HDR) will be amazing.

I use Camera NX. It's a modded apk from the Pixel. You don't get extra features, but you do get the modern UI and it works great for the background blur. Just be sure to grab the download for non-Nexus devices.

yeah I tried that but it doesnt give me nothing more than stock OP camera app. If he could force HDR+ that would be interesting.

the latest apk seems to work fine but there is hardly any noticeable change in quality from stock camera, only the autofocus seems to work better. also the app crashes when i select slow motion tab.

This works better because it has all the lib files and everything for extra functionality. (I removed the link due to the powers that be, but google search HTC m9 camera port and you will find it.)
At the bottom of the comments someone provided a full patch for 4k video.
Does it have an HDR+ option?
Selinux needs to be permissive for some reason

@manup456 and @Ryjabo :
I actually use the zip file as well, but if I was you I should remove the links because that is the Jishnu Sur port and every kind of material, links etc coming from this guy is forbidden here in xda.
I say this just to let you avoid a warn by a moderator.

I get what your saying and thanks for the heads up, but its not like XDA post a list of people who are banned from XDA so why would they warn me? They keep track of who is banned not me.
But I will remove the link since XDA has changed so much and I don't want issues.
Awesome find..

If you are using lean kernel, there is an option available in lkconfig.
Otherwise, you would need to use the app SElinux Changer.
It was pulled from Google Play, but can be downloaded here on XDA:

Could also use a terminal emulator app and run "su 0 setenforce 0" without the quotes. For me, the SELinux app here on XDA was not persistent. I would be switched back to enforcing after a reboot. The terminal way persists through reboots.
Of this gets HDR mode then adios 2012 Google camera

More features awaited!
Well, I've been using the HTC One M9 Camera App for about 4-5 days as my primary camera app and I'm quite happy. For instance, there are some awesome modes in it like Brokeh, Split Camera etc. But, Google Camera has better panorama. The HDR mode is needed as I compared the photos on my laptop... Google ones were better even when HDR+ mode wasn't even on! Having said that, HTC One M9 Camera is a beautiful addition to our phones as the Google Camera is still 2012 in my opinion!
Features awaited(in terms of importance):
1. HDR (most important)
2. Slow motion video
3. Faster focusing
Please hit the THANK YOU button if you think my review helped you. I will continue to post further info on this.
This is way better than the stock camera. The focus issue on the stock camera made me hate my camera, now with this I'm liking it. Thank you

Oneplus 5 camera ?

So I was curious if it were possible to port the op5 camera app on the 3t ?? I'm assming it has a better hdr mode than the current 3t one ??
I was thinking same. It's too early to say, but I hope so.
I hope it lives up to the hype they created on the OnePlus 5 camera. If not they are going to take some lumps from reviewers and lose some credibility.
Maybe in the next beta
Google camera's HDR+ option is the only thing we need ever!
If somebody can port it, there will be no contender to this device

Here's the apk of the OP5 camera app. Can anybody port it to 3T? Currently it does not work because it is expecting a dual camera setup.

That's a 64bit version, bud. Of course it won't work. 4.1.006.135988111 is the newest one that works, everything with a higher version number just crashes on startup. Movie recording doesn't work either but you can still use it for its amazing pano and 360 features.
Sizzled with Bacon ?

Oh, that's good to know, thanks. Apparently it doesn't on either RR or AOSiP. I keep getting "Camera error | Can't connect to the camera". Recording works fine with other apps like Bacon Camera.
What is the best version to use on Lineage ROM that has all google features working?
Unclear in this thread so fat to me sorry.

Not possibile. First, it's 64 bit. Second, it needs camera2 api, which is not there. Latest working version (without video support though) is Google Camera 4.1, targeted to Nougat 7.0, 32-bit arm. Latest fully working is version 3.
Any further discussion is pointless. There is nothing we can do to fix that. Just accept the facts.
P.S. newest Google Camera works like a charm on many other devices, on Lineage, like for example LG G5. But G5 is 64-bit and it has (unlike bacon) camera2 api fully implemented. I am able to take photo and record movie (including 4k uhd abd 120 fps slow motion with sound) with latest Google Camera 4 without any problem.
You should not blame Lineage, rather blame Oneplus for ****ty camera hal.
