i notice it in chrome with websites like news.google.com and xda forums.
there are browsers that are faster that can aid in this issue.
My belief is that it is a ram assignment issue. I think the phone, or apps, limit the amount of ram each app gets. but i could be wrong.

I decided to try an alternate browser softer becoming frustrated with the same issue. In researching it, I ran into a lengthy discussion of the security and trustworthiness of alternative browsers and the developers.
Anyhow, as someone who has a history of rooting and flashing custom roms, I'm prepared to make that leap of faith in the case of an experienced XDA dev. But that's a choice for you to make.
There are a few that have been made available that are based on the same original CAF coding which was specifically written to optimize performance on snapdragon based devices (like the OP3 and OP3T). I have tried one side by side with chrome and found it to be consistently faster to load pages. Part of this improvement is that it has built in ad blocking.
Anyhow, I am now using an alternative CAF based browser as my default and am very happy..

I'm also experiencing this on Lineage OS, odly enough I didn't have this scrolling lagging in earlier builds or before last accidental clean flash. I just thought it was caused by going from F2FS to EXT4 as it kinda started when I did that conversion. But that's probably just a coincidence.

However, it isn't the rom that makes the difference. its the browser. Use yubrowser from the app store first to see if that helps.
As for apps, you won't find any rom different except maybe stock vs not.

I've noticed this too but a reboot is usually sufficient to get it to go away for me. Also noticed improved scrolling speeds on SultanXda's CM13 Rom, however I prefer to run stock myself.

I am not talking about browsers... But the native apps like XDA, Playstore, Twitter....

I know. But it's a start.
Started running citrus-caf. And I LOVE it. And no stutter in Twitter. Or browser so far. Don't have XDA app. But I'm mad impressed

Did you try RR Official? I tried Citrus and had the scrolling issue....

I did. I don't remember if I had the issue. Maybe a developer option could fix it? I use multiprocess webview.

I tried using conservative governor from this trick

And it improved a lot especially in scrolling pages here in xda ?

lagging even though over clocked

I'm using rocket rom v23 with Abyssnote kernel version 4.2. And overclocked to 1.4ghz with ondemand using SETCPU. I don't have any background running application other than background data and gps enabled all the time.
For past week my phone is very slow and i need to wait for couple of seconds to let the app open. Why is this happening and what is the resolution?? I don't have any issue in battery. And also I don't want to loose any app's data.

Overclocked? But it's already 1.4 ghz.
Which launcher do you use? How many apps installed? How many widgets placed on your screens? And beside that just a simple hint: look forward for ICS...the lag will be gone immediately

Try rebooting into CWM then clearing cache and davlik cache. I had similar problem with another ROM gradually slowing down and wasn't sure what was causing it. Clearing the caches sorted the problem.

I have overclocked a few phones in my past, but the Note? Really its so fast and all works super smooth. Maybe with the right ROM where the dev already pre-overclocked it... But setCPU was never working great for me. Maybe just my opinion, but wipe, and get yourself a good ROM. No need to overclock this beast.
There is no lag "problem" per se. period. Stating there is a "problem" makes the assumption that there can be a fix.
You cannot fix the inequality in display processing between the S2 and the Note, given that the Note must process 2.6 times as much information for the display as the S2, so it will ALWAYS appear to be not quite as fast as the S2, given it has similar hardware.
So given you cannot get a gallon of beer in a pint glass, making it a different pint glass (ICS) wont help.
Now, sure the appearance of "lag" on the Note can be minimised thru tweaking optimisations, but note (small n) that the same can be also applied to the S2! Essentially, never in a month of Sundays will two devices with similar hardware, one of which is doing 2.6 times the work, ever appear to operate with the same UI zip.

The thing is...I don´t have any lag at all. Even with stock. BUT I can see a huge difference (on Stock rom) between TouchWiz and alternative launchers. Touchwiz is smooth as butter, whereas Go Launcher Ex shows a small lag (and it´s the fastest GB launcher alternative afaik.
And beside that: Currently I´m on Stunner (ICS) and here it is even a better experience. Absolutely no lag or waiting time, never, period.
I can´t sign the statement anymore, that the note is slower than a SGSII...I have both of them, and on Stunner it´s quite the same experience

My Android 4.2.1 Review: What happened to project butter?!

I loved the Nexus 7 from day one, it was fast, fluid and stock android is always a good thing. But somehow Google managed to make the Nexus 7 look old by providing an update which basically kills project butter. These are my impressions:
http://smartphoneblogging.com/2013/...-for-tablets-what-happened-to-project-butter/
I agree, compared to 4.1.2 on my note 2 the nexus 7 with 4.2.1 lags to much.
Has there been any information about if/when we will get another update?
Mine is still smooth as butter. Stock, running 4.2.1. You guys are doing something wrong.

No I haven't and I won't do it either, because it will only be a temporary solution as with the forever gone app. Newly wiped devices are always faster but only until you install all apps again and use them for some time. Then the lag will start again, at least this is my experience of the past years with all mobile devices that have performance issues.

There's something to what you said. But I think in this case there is something that goes awry with the 4.2.1 update mechanism and leaves something misconfigured.
Do a factory reset
Then configure Currents to not do background sync
Then change WiFi settings to not stay on when the tablet is sleeping

I agree. I've heard lots of issues when upgrading. There is a lot of changes the SD folder structure and relocation of lots of data that could be the culprit.
I can't say if it makes a difference because I reset often between Rom flashes and major updates. My N7 is still super quick. In fact it feels the same/faster then my brand new 4.1.2 N7 (my tester device). I've been on PA for a long time and haven't factory reset in a long while either.

Nope, I'm just picky on what I put on my device. Not a load of music and videos, very minimal amount of apps, stock, Nova Launcher Prime, and do regular manual cache maintenance on it to keep it clean. Never have say, eight apps running at the same time on it, either.

No, im talking about the extreme lags on nexus 7 since 4.2.1. This didn't happen on 4.1... I'm not talking about some general slowdown of the system which is happening when you load it with apps...
Mine came out of the box using android 4.2.1. I seems reasonably smooth but the app drawer suffers random lag unlike store units that run 4.1.2.
Overall on stock rom, it is not even close to lag, just a bit of minor stuttering for me with launcher that's all.
Do factory reset. Fixed all the issues for me. I had all the problems you've been having.
After reset it was back full speed.
Do it.

I'll wait for the 4.2.2 update first to see if it fixes anything...
Android always lags. There is no fix.

Everyone in 4.4 using ART. Conclusion?

I feel like the device is much snappier. I heard battery is supposed to be better with it as well but I can't confirm. The xda app was never the best , now it is almost fluid o.o. or at least noticeably better. What do you have to say ?
i was told to add this:
http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/1qbko3/art_broken_apps/
edit: I would like to add that the apps i notice this most is for instance, when i use hangouts and i'd right ALOOOOOOOT with someone and then scroll up at a fast rate, it would stutter. Now, this stutter is nearly gone.
XDA - xda app is one of the most noticeable, stutter has been reduced by such a large margin that you'd have to try it yourself to believe it.
G+ would have the occasional hickup when scrolling through news posts. Next stop would be the play store, it used to stutter a lot as well, now it's become a lot better. Just for the hell of it i compared it to my sister's note 2 and the difference is there.
I doubt this is a placebo effect, i'm even considering to make a video as proof with dalvik on and off for the hell of it.

Well, it's kind of obvious, if you want the best experience for now you're going to want to go with the official 4.4, since the developers need their time to work their magic.
I have no crashes, i'm using ART so far cause i could care less about what's app. I'll report in about battery life observations once i've at least had this thing running for a whole day.
Feels really smooth so far; don't use any apps that crash(thankfully) on ART. Hard to tell with the battery as I came off a custom kernel that was picked for low power usage. Like with any new firmware, it usually takes a few days of my phone running before I can really judge things. Got to give all the apps running a little time to muck things up to get a solid feel for real world performance; but I'm hopeful from what the past few hours performance/battery wise.

It's not worth the hassle in my opinion. I couldn't notice any tangible difference, performance-wise. I tried it on SlimKat, though. I may probably give it a second try now on stock but the whole idea of having non-working apps like Whatsapp and TiBu just takes the appealing away for now.
Could this just an elaborate hoax to test the placebo effect of Android optimization? I don't understand the true potential if it.

[Q] Most Stable build/ROM for HD+?

Hello all,
Sorry if this has been discussed elsewhere but I was wondering if there was a consensus on what the most stable/smoothest ROM currently available for the HD+? Currently running CM10.1.3 build based on the recommendation on an old thread re stability, but I bet it can be better. I don't need 4.3 or every feature, stability and smoothness is the most important thing for me.
What do you guys think? Thanks.

Mine does, quite a bit. Once I am watching a video it's great, but navigating around the UI can be frustrating at times, but ok other times. Hit or miss. Better than the 4.3 builds I was on. I really hope the 4.4 builds assist the lag.

What build are you using exactly? Custom kernel? Are there any kernels I should be flashing? What are your performance settings set to? I don't need high-end game performance, I just want to get in and out of apps and navigate the UI without thinking about the sub-par internals.

I find that using Greenify helps lower the amount of lag. I'm running CarbonROM 10-31 build with buggy multiwindow. Previous CarbonROM build was roughly the same in performance. At times I'm fine, but at others, it takes a year to open something. I'm hoping that the new compiler, ART, will make things better.

I run CM10.1.3 stable, using the kernel that comes with it and standard performance settings.
But I run at 320 dpi and use ADW-EX as my launcher. I also run my swap zip so that media files get put on my SD instead of internal memory. I also have the SEM32G chip.
I suspect that a lot of users getting LAG are 16GB devices that put their media files on internal memory (the default) and they fill up internal memory (/data and /data/media) so that the device slows down when it needs to write to storage that has been previously used. After all, that is what LAG is.

Depends on how much you have on your old device

only a small amount of lag when i first set it up as it was downloading all my apps and settings.
After that i reboot and all is good, no lag at all.

I don't know if it's just me but today I got my Note 7 and I'm kinda experiencing a slight screen lag when scrolling up and down casually on my device. Does anyone else have this issue?

I'm having a lot of responsiveness issues on my TMo Note 7. Scrolling is almost constantly affected, the Samsung keyboard lags behind my typing badly, and I've noticed a lot of times it just seems to miss my taps on screen elements. Happening universally, not in any specific program, though scrolling is worst in Chrome. I got my phone last night, about 12 hours ago.

Oh my God yes I was having the same exact issue. I'm kind of still having the issue now but it's not as bad as it was when I first got the device. Hopefully we can expect an update to fix this
I think I discovered the problem. It's when your screen is scaled down to experience some responsiveness issues. If that doesn't work for you try a factory reset
