A possible method for ANY P9 to update to Android 7.0 - Huawei P9 Questions & Answers

I have tried it and it works perfectly for my Huawei P9 EVA-L09C636B190. I think this method will work on ANY model of P9, any region.
I'm now on EVA-L09C636B320. With everything normal. No development version. I think it is offical. Now im trying to update to B361 with the same method.
Here's what you need:
Huawei Hisuit
Huawei firmware finder
Huawei updater
First, make sure your P9 is updated to the latest EMUI 4.1.1, then use the firmware finder, simply choose the 'common database', and enter your model number, such as 'EVA-L09C636', then click 'update' of the first version of B3xx, but dont download it.
Try to copy the download link 'http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/data/files/p3/s15/G1256/g104/v73968/f1/full/update.zip'
And delete everything after 'f1' make it like this ''http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/data/files/p3/s15/G1256/g104/v73968/f1'
Then you can use the method in this thread
https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/help/p9-7-0-nougat-update-eva-lo9-b182-t3539754
And enjoy your new Android.

Ah I got a problem, I'm now on EVA-L09C636B320, when I'm trying to update to B361 it shows error....................
I'm not sure if the OTA works as there isn't any update I can find through "update phone" :/

Hello there, I did every step mentioned by OP here and did the steps detailed in the linked post. Everything is going fine, firmware is downloading and if I'm lucky it will finish doing it in about 3 or 4 hours (yes, ****ty conection). Anyways, Firmware Finder found this EVA-L09C605B360 and I'm currently on EVA-L09C605B135 I can clearly see that it may work and have Nougat by the end of this day that but I'm concerned about this method and its safety; is it safe, can I trust in FF? Am I doing any damage or restricting this phone's future capability to receive OTAs? Like I said I got plenty of time to stop the update process if in any case my phone is going to be bricked or dead by flashing lol
I'm expecting your answers or experiences
Cheers.

Hi, thanks for reply
Unfortunately I'm not sure if OTA works or not. Because there's still no official update through OTA.
But the update for me works fine, no bugs found currently.

So that means if OTAs don't work we will have to update following the same procedure we followed here to update to a more recent compilation/version of the ROM? Thanks for answering!

im on l09c34b140 and with the method theres no update apart from the one i have (my one seems to be the latest). Would it work if i just used a c636 version or sth like that?

Thanks! Trying out right now!
UPDATE: Damn! "Software update failed!"
Will look into ways to manually update.
SECOND UPDATE: My device was hacked a few times before and maybe that's why the update initially failed.
I managed to manually install it.
It's working just fine! The notification panel and the shutdown window look really nice with the blur effect.
Most importantly, battery life is better than 4.4.2

Need to download newer firmware than EVA-L09C636B134 on my P9-L09

I see that builds B136 and B152 are available for the C636-geo versions of the phone? Anyone know where I can download the new firmware? The green garbled images from the camera can be quite bothersome!
Or would it be a better idea to install the C432-geo versions of the build? I know this a longer and more convoluted series of steps, but I don't have any updates showing up in my Updater, so this might be the only choice!
Thanks in advance!

Is there anything alse i can do ? Its really strange that my current update is SOOO OLD and no new releases.

Why doesn't my P9 see the latest update OTA?

Hi,
I just got a P9 a couple of days ago, it has L09C432B170 installed.
I see in the forums that L09C432B180 is the latest but if I check for an update my phone tells it is up to date.
I am in German on 1&1 but phone is unlocked and unbranded...I just came from Windows Mobile so I am bit behind of if Android device updates need to be approved/released by the network before push to devices these days.

ROM for AL00?
I have an EVA AL00 - a Chinese version of the phone. I was experimenting with the newly release Marshmallow ROMs, which installed successfully, but subsequentlly by mistake downgraded to a 4.1.1. EMUI ROM which looks nothing like the original Chinese EVA-AL00 ROM. I have since been unable to install any other ROMs or upgrade them via dload on SDCard. The current ROM I seem to have is EVA-C900B162.
Three questions which I am hoping members of the forum can help with:
1. Are there links to original Chinese ROMs? Which one should I download? http://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/development/rom-stock-rom-eva-l19c636b168-t3419586
2. The ROM I have now - what is its country of origin?
3. Which Marshmallow upgrade ROM should I use?
Thanks!

Your Vendor is All and should work with any firmware. What firmware did u flash with so it became C900? Best would be to unlock bootloader and debrand it to C432 with SrkTool Huawei.
See, that's the thing. I was trying a number of firmware files. I had flashed it to the forthcoming Marshmallow release (the one that says EMUI is 3.1, but in fact it was 5) and it worked fine. Then I by mistake upgraded to the current version and I have no idea which specific file I used. I tried upgrading back to Marshmallow or to another existing version and can't do it. I am sure this has been posted already but can you shared the instruction for:
1) unlocking the bootloader
2) debranding it to C432
Thanks!

I tried that too man, also tried the huawei updater software but it didn't work because it isn't a 'full' file but an ota one.
I wish there was a way to do it, pretty much tried everything now apart from rooting which would scrub my data.

Im in same situation, tried 3 files from firmware finder, 339 and then 340. No entanto of them work amd Maybe is related with the file type, is an OTA só we have two solutions: wait or debrand

Debranding would mean loosing our data and it's hard to run a proper backup without having root and Titanium Backup. Man I wish there was a way to just apply the update, the file's there so it obviously exists it's just impossible to install it.
I reckon we're going to have to wait unfortunately, hopefully they'll release a full version soon. Waiting for OTA updates with Vodafone is a fool's errand. When I got the phone B137 had been out for a month or two and it still hadn't been received by my phone so I had to dload flash it. If they don't release a full flash (which hopefully they will) we'll be waiting for a long time
Seems like We will have to wait for official update...
Found solution!

Update's running great. I've already noticed a boost in battery life and the UI is much better.
It was really easy, if you just follow the second method on the website you should be fine.
Didn't loose any data at all.
Hope you manage to install it

In firmware finder you need to make sure the option for OTA is selected in the settings in order to find the right B340.
I flashed the smaller b340 and then the larger file.
Seems like the build nu!her hasn't updated but the kernel version and security patch date have changed.
Haven't noticed any difference from B339 though.

There are 3 files, can you share the ones you used or the links? It has some kind of order, did you first used the one right next the b339 and then the last one?

Try using the latest one. When I did it there were only 2 files there so I tried both. Just try the latest one via dload, should work fine.

New update for Vodafone Nougat, not tested yet.
Hi all, I updated to L09C02B339 last week following the 2nd method, all went well. I have since tried to update to B340 and more recently to B341 using FF, putting the update file on dload folder. Phone said it updated on both occasions without an issue but it still says I'm on L09C02B339. How can I tell if I have actually updated to B341 ? Kernel says 4.1.18-g91bd370 [email protected] #1 Mon Feb 6 05:34:07 CST 2017. Does that mean anything to anyone ?

[NEWS] System update soon for COR-L29 users?

I was just using firmware finder on my Honor Play(TL-10 version) and found this result for L29 model.
No idea what this is about. Though the app doesn't work anymore, maybe L29 users can try a shot in the dark.

It says, cannot connect to the servers. May be that is the reason, I am not getting any files there

Hey, does your TL-10 also show a "4G-LTE" boot logo when restarted or switched on?

I hate it so much! That's why I am downloading the full update to give the full firmware file a shot, so maybe I can get rid of that boot logo

It really doesn't bother me at all. I just missed the Full screen Gestures from my Xiaomi phone.
So now this phone is even more awesome.
Firmware Finder servers are getting changed I think so I can't download.

I have the model COR-L29 too but don't see anything?

FF finds the 9.0 Pie for my Play. I can download the file (3,76GB) but can't install it. My phone is in intact condition, so that's why it stops at 5%.

No root, locked bootloader. For some reason Huawei /Honor devices are very easy to brick. For now quite happy with Oreo and not under pressure about 9.0 as it's on the way
I downloaded this and tried to install it but it failed instantly on installing using the dload method. I usually flash with a fat32 sdcard but the firmware file is too large so i tried with exFat i'm not sure if this is the correct format?
I just purchased the honor play L29 and i'm stuck with 8.2.0.130 firmware. No emui 9 with beta test or just navigation gestures. Does any owner of the COR-L29 receive a new update ?
