Adding a custom system font - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

Hello everyone,
I have a little task. I want to change my system font. I'm on OOS 4.0.3 rooted. Every single app that says it does it only allows me to choose from their font selection. But I have a custom TTF font I'd like to use.
Is there any solution to get this working?

You could just mod the app & insert your font? Quickest way would be to get the font apk on your computer, change the last bit from (.apk) to (.zip), unzip & swap the font package but inserting yours, then resign the apk with a resigning app from the playstore, then install the app & pick the font name you swapped! Or you could go poking though your system files from a file manger app & just paste straight over the top then reboot. But to be honest the first way would probably be safer. But make sure before you start have a Recovery Backup ready just in case

Maybe [FONTS][5.1.1][6.0.1][7.1.1] Full Flashable Zips could help :good:

Ifont has the same problem. Only the fonts they provide. No custom fonts.

[Guide] How to Change Fonts for the ROM?

I've seen this question many times during last few days and even got a few PMs also regarding this and answering repetitively is tiresome and not so creative so thought of creating a thread specially for this, Nothing new, no rocket science but helpful, hope you find the same
Recovery Method
Download any one of the font
Goto CWM
Select Mount and storage
Mount System
Flash the downloaded File
ICS Roboto Font
Gingerbread Stock Font
Other Flashable Font files along sample can be found here
Font changer Method
Install Font Changer from play store
put the desired fonts in the folder .fontchanger created in the root of your SDcard, open the app and apply the desired font.
usually I use second method. coz its easy for any fonts. no need to search for flashable zip and original font can be backup for further use.
try rom toolbox
I think it doesnt work on ICS ROM
I see on system/fonts and few font files was linked to "roboto font",,even I change with CWM/Manual(with root explorer) it doesnt works mate
I like use SonySketch fonts

I believe what OP mean in this thread is only for MoKee OS. And also as he said, the zip file attached to be flashed is an answer of some people who ask him how to make roboto font as default font.

Is this safe ?
I wanted to ask if this is completely safe cos I've had bad experiences everytime I tried tampering with my device. Also do these methods work on gingerbread ??

As far i know this should work on any gingerbread rom, but on ics or jb you need to create metadata for changing the font as their symlinked to the rom. Cmiiw

[FONT]Full System Fonts! Clock symbol FIX!

Hello fellow XDA friends! I am an extreme fan of Roboto Condensed and ALWAYS keep a zip of the font to replace my entire system UI. So if you are anal about your phone having consistent fonts, being Roboto Condensed, this is the zip for you! As always MAKE A BACKUP before flash even though I of course have flashed this multiple times every time I flash a ROM and have never had any issues with it. I do not have a revert to stock zip so PLEASE, AGAIN, MAKE A BACKUP, JUST, IN, CASE! I hope you enjoy!
Credits to this who create flashable zip files for me to use as a template to use for each device I am using.
Thanks to everyone who has helped me on XDA with not only fonts, but various tasks here and there :silly:
THESE ARE FLASHABLE ZIP FILES - YOU DO NEED A CUSTOM RECOVERY TO FLASH
To fix the [X] in your lock screen clock problem you can flash this: http://www.mediafire.com/download/bt2hz0t6osbghy5/Font_DejavuFonts1.zip
Credits to: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/themes/fonts-flashable-zips-t3219827 & @xxsashixx for the find - thanks again!
Big thanks to @THATTON for providing me with some great looking fonts to zip up
For any requests, feel free to PM me or mention my username in a thread post and I'll be happy to throw together a zip for you!

Yes it does. You have to flash in recovery.
It's been awhile since I root or have custom rom. I assume root device will not get factory update anymore, or does it? Want to keep the phone as vanilla as possible, but there's really some deficiency that only root app can fill.

Correct, no ota with normal root system changes. There is a systemless root, but I've not tried it...
I have updated the main post to be a bit more clear on needing ROOT and a custom recovery to flash this font for those who aren't as familiar! Enjoy
Added Bariol font per request, enjoy

Any chance you could post a zip of the stock font? I liked my clock more before and stupidly didn't make a backup, and font changer apps don't change certain things including the clock for me.

So I grabbed all the default fonts from my /system/font & zipped them up.
I'm on the ASOiP ROM, so I'm not a 100% sure these are the same as Google's stock Android fonts, but you could give that a try if you want.
Is that a flashable zip? I couldn't get it to work.

Oh, that's it? I feel pretty stupid now haha
It caused a little problem in WhatsApp though. The weird symbols are letters in Hebrew and it only happens in the name field. Also, it doesn't happen in any other application. I'll try finding a solution and will update if I manage to

I've tried placing the font I wanted (bellota) in the folder, but it seems not to be working (at least the regular one). I'm not sure if it's because I've an OMS Rom
If you have time can you test it or at least tell me if I did something wrong??

Edit: OMS was messing up with this module

I will if I can, but as far as I'm concern, unlike for Asus devices, there is no way to create installable fonts for LG device. Those are old fonts, presumably no longer available in Smartworld.

Cool, just confirming no Root requirement.
Does this open up the possibility of more font customization? I've noticed the fonts folder on the device has more fonts than what's listed in system settings.

Sadly, you can't. It's not officially signed so it is not eligible to be used in LG device
