Huawei P8 Nougat Petition - Huawei P8 Guides, News, & Discussion

Huawei Mobile*has released the Android 7 Nougat update for the P9, P9 Lite and Mate 8 devices. Why they haven't done the same for the P8, P8 Lite and Mate S, this*only leads to one conclusion:
Huawei*only cares about the factory line revenue generation of their P9, P9 Lite and newer devices! All you customers who purchased new P8, P8 Lite and Mate S*a few months back, you can be sure that Huawei*only wants you to buy a newer mobile phones and leave older devices even if they are still sufficient by hardware side.
The hardware requirements for Android Nougat are irrefutably the same as Android Marshmallow.* Where is 18 month software support?

If I remember correctly it isn't really Huawei's fault. Google doesn't support the version for P8 because of security issues.
Anyway I wouldn't really looking for the Android 7.0, most of the UI is available in Launchers like Nova and other pars of it doesn't really make much of a difference.

EMUI 5 uses new filesystem format which makes phone faster and makes the phone fast even after a long time of usage becauses it doesnt fragment data, i think it could be noticable in midend phone like P8, shame we wont have it...

Yeah, imo Huawei should've though ahead about their hardware compatibility.

Surprisingly the HTC One M8 which is also incompatible with Vulkan, is getting Nougat update in the US.

i dont know M8 but what i can say is huawei itself comfirmed that model P8 wont get further versions of android except those with security patch, Have HTC ever said that they will never get nougat? i think that even if huawei could bring it to us later, they just wont anymore, they released TOO many new devices since then, if they had to maintain all of them they would get crazy and no profit from that what so ever, if there is any hope is very, very small, and i dont have any anymore

I don't have a P8 but I remember always wanting one due to the awesome design. If developers can port Nougat to My Galaxy S4 then I really don't see why Hauwei can't make an official release for the p8. With 2 year software updates the norm I find this extremely unacceptable. The vulkan requirement is false, for I can run nougat on a S4 (custom ROM) and have no graphical issues at all. Good luck with your petition.

nope, you ain't seeing nougat on p8. we chinese users have been asking huawei since the release of emui 5, and all the answer from them is "no major functional upgrades, but security patches will continue". so stop hoping for official emui 5, and cross your fingers for third-party flavors like lineage. btw based on the status of the cm13 and lineage13 here, lineageos suooprt seems promising.

thats right, unfortunatelly im not willing to take this compromise, the phone takes fantastic photos and it doesnt pay off just for some extra features that doesnt matter in real life anyway, emui has everything that people could need, awesome battery life, fast ui, great phone manager and the most important for me, pro camera

Huawei devices are really beautiful! I will actually go so far to say, imho Huawei makes the best contructed phones currently on the market.
But after using the P8 for almost a year, I can't stand EMUI anymore! I need a more vanilla-type Android. If there continues to be no custom rom support for Huawei devices, I will not buy another one...

I think iOS is pretty cheap boring and tacky .. there is nothing else just icons.. so how can be so pretty nice ?!?! there are no even widgets..
If apple would make EMUI us would auto admire EMUI just because it is from apple..

1. emui is not launcher
2. emui best? really? in marshmallow it look and works pretty nice besides bugs, but actual Emui 3.1 is the worst modded android version available, even touchwiz is much better, the visual bugs of emui bothers me so much, i had S4 mini with CM 12 before p8, and it was much more lag less and more speed, sadly

launcher is just app that manages your homescreen (like Nova launcher, Apex,...) but EMUI is highly modified android, i dont know whats the term for this in english, anyway, you are right i didnt have Mate 7 or 8 but i have P8 wich is pretty much the same or a bit slower, anyway huawei just released final marshmallow and im happy i can finally enjoy using my phone like it was supposed to be :good:
I am really disappointed with design .. like no much change..

[UPDATES] Huawei official update info

Hello people, i wanted to create thread where people could post their knowledge about possible EMUI 5 update and so people seeking for the answere could find it here, i will start:
Today (1st december 2016) was published short new (official) about huawei devices that will get Nougat. P8, of course, isnt in the list, wich isnt surprising considering its huawei , some details bellow:
first devices that will get Nougat:
Huawei P9
Mate 8
few weeks later:
Huawei P9 Plus
Huawei P9 Lite
however, there are still some rumors that at least P8 and P8 lite still shoud get this update, but if huawei was planning to update this model, why huawei can not comfirm update for this models too? I would be pleased to have features from emui 5, especially new F2FS which has a much smaller fail rate – memory compression and GPU acceleration thanks to native Vulkan support.
There are no more rumors. It's phonearena's wishful thinking that one year old flagship should be updated. It won't be. Mali-T628 doesn't support Vulkan. End of story.
memory compression (zram) is already enabled

I remember that in April this year i saw on ARM's website that the Mali-T628 supports Vulkan but the T624 doesn't but in June/July it was removed from there.

doesnt make much more hope tho..
Today i got an email from Huawei Bulgaria saying that there won't be official Nougat update because they have done some testing and this is better for our device but they will continue improving the current available version of Android.

[Discussion] Not happy P8 won't be updated to Nougat? REPORT!

Hey people. I am P9 user BUT I am not happy that your phones won't be updated to Nougat. This means my P9 won't get Android 8... This is ridiculous! Not even 2 years of OS updates?
So Report HERE to these muth*ducker from Huawei so they realize how stupid this is!
Product & Technical Support - Complaints - Maintenance period!
It's a joke with these specs phones to get only one Major Update!
Don't be silent people! You are the one who make these companies rich! And they treat you like this? After all you paid with hard earned money!
I'm not sure if they are going to care about, there are some compability issues with Android 7 and the Hardware of the Huawei P8, guess its too much afford for them.
But we wont even get EMUI 5, thid is kinda sad.
I just hope the CM13 Port will be finished soon.
But its worth a try..
Correct me if I'm wrong. I understand that it's because the chip of P8 (Mali-T628) does not support some features of Android N (like vulkan API). So it's not because they don't want to...
what is more interesting is that my old phones like Samsung Galaxy s4 mini and Galaxy ACE 2, which are pretty old phones, handle nougat via cyanogenmod, but in matter of P8 thare are compatibility issues? how is this possible?

Lots of people have Samsung phones so there is a "market" for keeping these going.
The source code is available.
They tend to use hardware that lots of other devices use.
Huawei use proprietary hardware on a smaller number of devices.

what market do you mean? galaxy ace 2 and s4mini ended with kitkat with message that their hw can not handle lollipop, so ridiculous considering that cynaogenmod 14 runs on both of them better than official stock rom 4-5 years ago, i think this is all bull*hit, if they wanted to bring us nougat, they could, how they even could release flagship knowing that they will not be able to release at least 2 updates? this is not normal

By "market" I meant for developers. I can get the latest CM running on my S2. I don't think Samsung should still be supporting it.
The only reason those phones are still running up to date software is that 3rd parties have developed for them.
With most android phones you can expect one major update and that is normal and has been the case for many years. If you don't like it you should get a nexus or at least a phone with a more common chipset with community support.
Huawei should just release all the code necessary to allow for 3rd party development on their phones, especially when they stop updating them.

Official nougat update delayed

Hi Guys,
It seems official update to Nougat has been delayed due to some technical problems which were experienced by open BETA testers, see below source.
https://www.huaweiblog.de/news/huawei-p9-lite-nougat-update-verzoegert-sich-wohl/
Well I think it's better to receive polished software even if it will take few more weeks. From the other hand I'm on B336 since beta project and it's working as a charm, no issues that could justify any delay like that on my phone.
Cheers!
Those are obvious marketing strategies. Huawei wants you to buy newer models and that's it. Let's just enjoy our phones regardless, Nougat is a pretty minor update after all. All this hype has no sense, for me.

guys, for the huawei devs, p9 lite is not a priority any more, new huawei phones are in line and p9 lite sw is in background, any way, its not big deal to stuck on mm for now, you will get really tired from 7, i work in service shop and i tested p9 with 7, no big deal.
for me most important is to fix the jpeg engine on camera, to fix the sharpness on the photos, and autofocus on video.

where is the emui 10 !!!?

You are welcome to sell your phone and switch to another brand that rolls our updates faster. Also, let us all know when you find one.
Iphones are good for long software updates. Huawei has a lot of issues with maintaining their new HMS since Trump went full child mode because apparently Huawei spies, even tho a lot of american tech (excluding Apple, i guess) spy on us since the dawn of time.
Emui 10 got rolled out in China for p20 pro, not sure if it is beta or not.
I will be switching (possibly) to an Iphone xs max, because i grew tired of software update issues and all. I really hope i don't get any hate because i want to switch to an apple product. Android is great too, but Google likes to ruin in each update

Simple. If you care about bootloader, go to oneplus or any other brand that allows custom roms. If not, stick to Huawei or go to Apple since it's the only brand who respects old devices(reason the price costs a kidney and a half) . Xiaomi counts too but they update their MIUI, not the android version, as well as oneplus too but uhh, not so sure about them yet.
---------- Post added at 05:14 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:07 AM ----------
Huawei isn't really such a bad company. It's only that they are too lazy to provide after sales support for any sort of device. I get it, Trump issues, Google issues, HMS issues. They should roll out Harmony OS as a beta software from devices that have Kirin 970 and up and let everybody develop apps and all, as well as test the software and allow people to report any sort of bugs. This way, the production of it will be a faster way to finish and polish Harmony OS. Their ego with "We are ready to replace you, Google" just make things worst, to the point where Trump can add a law to restrict all Chinese brands (yes, including Xiaomi and maybe Oneplus) from using Android all together, then everybody would be stuck on Android Q (or lower).
Either way, until Huawei fixes their issues and learns how to coop with the xda community and customers (now they need developers with HMS to develop apps, are we Huawei?), i will stick to Apple's Iphones, because even a 5 years old iphone still gets the latest software ( reason being the services, ofc). This is a lesson to be learned, Huawei. I am not the type of person who cares about bootloader and custom roms, but still, either coop with the community or watch your brand slowly die.
