Help ! G890A keeps shutting down randomly and can not reboot without charger - Galaxy S6 Active

It just starts 2 months after I bought it. Initially the mobile will randomly and automatically shutdown, and it can only reboot when connected to the charger. But the problem is worse this time. Now when I start the mobile with the charger, and once the charger is removed, it will go black immediately.
I checked the battery when the mobile is rebooted, the battery is good.
I did the "wipe data" and "wipe cache partition" and reset the mobile to factory setting, the problem is still there.
I upgraded the mobile ROM via Ordin from 5.1.1 to 6.0.1, the same problem still happened.
Could anyone can help me to solve this problem ?

Do you have a case on the phone? I had a lot of heat issues with the Otterbox. Once I removed the case my slowness, lockups, and shutdowns stopped. Never again!

No case is used for the phone.

Do you resolve it? I have the same problem, i update to nugat beta2 And still shut down... May by it some hordware bug?

I have this issue last week. Solved by bring it for service. They said it's power IC problem. It's cheap to replace the IC, so you may want to try.

No, it's still lying on my table. Initially I doubt it's the battery problem, but after checking by the repairing shop, the battery is proved to be perfect. They consider it may be the software problem, so I upgraded the phone from 5.1.1 to 6.0.1, and nothing changes.
By the way, I tried to place the non-AT&T sim card in the phone, and it's still working with 6.0.1, but with the charger connected.

Thanks, but I bought it from the online market. Does any samsung service centre or mobile repairing shop can do the replacement ?

It shares the hardware with the normal S6, so a typical mobile repairing shop should be able to do the replacement

Thanks. I'll have a try.

Solved.
But the service guy has to break the front screen to open the phone, therefor the front screen was also replaced and it's not cheap.

are you sure he had to break the phone screen? Maybe he made a mistake and told you so... I don't want to break my front screen just to fix the issue... I am currently on Android 7.0, SM-G920F, anyone experiencing the same?

I had this problem before it was from battery, I only change it & its okay now.

what about new software update, did that resolve the issue for any of you? I am getting a new software update notification for last week or so but I am not sure will it randomly reboot while update. Don't want to brick my phone...

[Q] automatic random reboot

hey all,
i got my galaxy note now 3 weeks ands it's rebooting random all the time. at a service point i let them do a factory reset but that did not work. does anybody know a solution for this problem? because i dont like to send my note cause i will not have a few days sow if anyone got a solution i like to try it.

Suffering from the same here
I think its related to one of the apps - I will start removing my installed apps one by one from tonight - Will keep you posted with the updates.
Also, if anyone out there had the same issue; please advice!
I had the same issue on previous android devices..I managed to get around it with numerous hard resets. Also I believe that a certain combination of apps will cause it too..but i don't know which ones. I've got a dell streak right now, and its been stable for a few months..having said that, it still randomly reboots once in a while but no where near the consistency it used to.

I had this problem too and it seems to be an installed app problem, particularly any that change the wireless settings in some way or apps that stall when accessing the external SD card at boot times.
this is exactly what happens to me guys, same problem.
Random reboot and this happens all around the clock, no matter if it is day or night or if the phone is in flight mode...
Frankly I don't want to uninstall my apps one by one to check what app is causing the issue because I have no time to spend on it...
I hope that someone with more software skills than me (I am just an user) will succeed to fix it...
cheers.
Do you have Dolphin browser installed?
If it's the case, don't search further...
What's the problem with dolphin browser? I constantly use it and never had a restart. Is OPs phone overclocked or undervolted?
Which rom and kernel are being used?
mine is also rebooting every once in a while for no apparant reason. Mostly when I unplug it from the USB cable but not always. This happened from the first day on. I never did a factory reset but considering it now since the SMemo app is not working anymore (no strokes are visible) and I am out of options.

I also have this issue, I found out that its the power button..

Dolphin is a well known app for causing random reboot, since SGS 2.
Not for all users but for many:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1321612&highlight=randomly
But without Dolphin installed, I really don't know...
I think it's the SD card causing these problems.
My reboot problems all disappeared when I removed the 32Gb sandisk card. I replaced it with a 16Gb card and was very careful about which apps I installed on it. Now whether it was the card size/brand or the selective apps that resolved the issue I can't be sure. Having Dolphin's cache on the phone memory instead of the SD card might also be a solution.
But it's worth investigating if you have reboot problems with external card installed.
Hi guys,
As soon as I got my Note, I rooted it and flashed a custom rom. Never had problems with reboots so far.
So, for a change I though setting it beck to stock was a good idea, with the upcomming ICS update.
As soon as I flashed the stock rom with odin, and it was back to factory situation, the reboots start happening. Every 3-6 hours the Note rebooted. Got in contact with Samsung (NL) and suggested to execute a factory reset, so I tried that a couple of times. But no luck, the reboots keep happening. I thought maybe it was an hardware issue. I have no Sdcard, only my SIMcard, which was a bit warn out, so I order a new SIM. But still, the reboots keep happening.
Then I decided to root my device again and flash a custom rom (Rocket-Rom), and guess what? No more reboots!!!
I hope this helped.
To me, I think automatic reboot is somehow still acceptable. I experienced two times auto power off. Both were happened after I charged it over night, unpluged the charger and left it without unlocking the screen, drove to my work place, and found it dead
I'm only having it for 2 weeks and I haven't rooted it.
it maybe a usb charging issue which is causing so much grief to many note owners. Mine has a defective usb port and it makes my note go crazy, including reboots and makes the note think its charging when its not even connected to charger at all.
Using note since dec... Faced such problem 5 or 7 time whn my phn was nt rooted... But nw its working fine... Using rocket rom v 20...

[Q] My G-Note is rebooting frequently !!

Hi all !!
From a few days ago, my phone is rebooting frequently by itself.
First, i thought that it was fault of new ROM i flashed, and then i've returned back to the ROM i used before, but the phone keeps rebooting randomly and frequently, i tried then some other ROMs, same thing.
After a few tries, i thought it was fault of my battery, i bought new one, result was good for first day, but after this first day of normal use without reboots, the phone reboots randomly again and frequently, so i'm now afraid, and don't know what i can do.
So, is there anything I can try to help me solve this problem ?!
Thanks in advance.
in most cases its the battery.. but you have tried a new one too.. i have seen a few similar cases and the issue is with the motherboard. have a check at Samsung Service

It reboots even if i don't restore nothing. I managed to get it works without rebooting, I'm just hoping it can keep itself working until I buy another smartphone.
same problem here,
keeps rebooting randomly,
sometimes I pick it up from desk, it reboots,
sometimes after sending a sms it reboots,
sometimes it reboots even when it's on my pocket,
so weird
Do you have an application such as JuiceDefender ? I was having regular reboot with this application.

Yeah better check at Samsung
Samsung - GT N7000
Does your system gets overheated, have you checked the temperature.....yes chances are that your motherboard is faulty.
also did you try some custom roms.... may be this forum can help you:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39163079#post39163079
If everything failed then hardware is sure at fault.
If you dont have warrantee, go safe kernel, wipe, format and such. So no stuff is left over. Because going from one rom to another dirty can cause this

[Q] my xperia x8 turns on and off again and again

Hello everyone.
I just got my xperia x8 from my brother because he didn't know how to fix it.
The phone seems like it has not even a scratch.
The issue is that everytime i turn it on it is just turning on and off and on and off again and again.
I don't even have time to input my pin.
The battery always seems to be drained although i charge it occasionally.
I have updated it's os with pc companion, but it keeps doing the same thing.
Is there anything that i can do to fix it?

try to flash stock frimware through flash tools(this wipes the data & reinstalls the system partition)
Normally flashing fixes all software fault but if your hardware is damaged so you shouldnt be hopeful.
I think its a sw problem but even an empty battery can cause exactly the same react.(put another battery then try flashtools)
Hope i could help you

that's our little greek secret... no modifications to the software but he kinda had troubles with this mobile for the whole period of time he owned it.he didn't receive messages in the particular device as far as i can remember. the battery doesn't seem to have anything wrong though.it is just sliiiightly puffed but nothing that alerting.i mean i havent charged it for a long time and it can still power the mobile's "neverending loop". if there was a problem wouldnt it not turn on at all or something? i don't have an extra battery and i'm thinking of getting through with the flash stock romafter i charge it a bit.. should i? and if yes, how? i've never done that (a guide would be great )

[Q] nexus 6 after new 5.1.1 update BIG PROBLEM(Keeps turning off

Hi , ive done all i can before coming here for help but this is my last resort as im stumped. About a month ago i updated my phone to the latest Android version on my Nexus 6. Literally straight after the update my phone began to play up. It started turning itself off at random times , not when i did a specific thing it could be anything and at any time. Spoke to Motorola and they were no use , so cleared my phone did a reset and still the same occurrence, as it was still on the newest version. But what i found was when the phone was plugged into the mains it didn't go off at all, but then again this problem happened right after the update. SO the next thing i have done is custom ROM but again the device will turn off randomly .I really need help as ive only had this phone since January and ive not been able to use it.
Thanks in advance
Sounds like battery defect. Has same issue on my n4 with regards to being ok when plugged in

Yes, absolutely sounds like the battery issue that is somewhat common. Best to RMA at this point because the next step is that the battery starts to expand.
You can, in the meantime, boot into bootloader, and select bootloader logs. Press power to select and then reboot. This clears and calibrates the battery stats. Most likely, the issue will return.

Anyone had their Xz1 compact reboot itself?

I've had it since Saturday and so far its done it 3 times.
Once yesterday just when I was trying to open the phone with the fingerprint sensor and twice now today when trying to do something with the phone connected to Bluetooth.
This morning I was trying to set up the connection to my in car TomTom Toyota 2 unit for the first time. Got part way through the process then it failed then when i tried again the phone rebooted then it worked.
This afternoon I turned on my Bluetooth connected to the car but it wouldn't do anything then the phone froze and rebooted but then it all worked fine.
I'm not giving up yet but its making me a bit nervous having these issues so soon (better now than later i guess). If it happens more this week ill take it back and might see about a different phone.
Just curious if anyone else has had similar?
This Bluetooth device worked fine previously with my Nexus 5X also on Oreo so its fine software compatibility wise.

Have you tried performing a factory reset? It might fix your problem. If it persists, then you can send it back for a replacement.
Rebooted again today just in the camera.
Not tried a factory reset yet, will take it into store today and see what they say is best to do. Don't mind doing a reset but then its waiting again to see if it does it again after which isn't something I can easily replicate.
If i can get a new unit id prefer that so i can see if its just my current one with an issue, even with the pain of having to buy a new screen protector.

If the factory reset doesn't work, install the Sony Companion software and run a software repair on it. That may fix the issue. Mine hasn't restarted at all in the 24 hours I've had it, even after using Wifi, Bluetooth, installing lots of apps, using 3G and 4G... However, I installed Newpipe via F-Doid and it crashed at least 4 times on me when I left the video I was watching and came back to it.
No reboots. Two days of heavy use.
I factory reset it soon as I received it and firware update poped up.

No reboot, have had phone for over a week now.
What did the store recommend you do? Here, they always suggest you factory reset first, same with going to the service center, they actually do that first thing when you send in for repairs.
What did you eventually do? Did it solve your problem?

I took it into a store the other day and they had no stock so i'm taking it to a different one today. The store i went to said it would be no problem though as id not had it long. Its been rebooting still a few times just when sitting in my pocket doing nothing, ive had the must enter pin after reboot message.
Well on the way to store speaking to my wife (also with XZ1 compact) her phone froze mid call and rebooted. When she rang back she said she was showing a software update. Checked mine when parked and i had it too.
Sony rep happened to be in store today so told him the issue, he had one himself and hasn't experienced or heard of this but said to do a repair with xperia companion to clean flash the new firmware on both our phones. If still having issues then theres nothing more we could do ourselves and bring back to store to swap.
I have another week in which i can change phone or another 3 weeks to swap for a new XZ1 compact.
Will do repairs tonight and hope the problem goes away.
Repaired friday evening, phone rebooted randomly again after freezing sunday. Taking in today to swap for a new unit.
If any similar problems this week with the new one ill ask to swap to a different phone entirely.
Probably need a software update. Mine is running fine on 47.1.A.2.324

Not good if others are getting this too, lets hope it was a one off for you.
So far just setup and listened to music on my new phone and all is good but there's no pattern to what causes the reboot so will see how the next few days go.
My XZ1 Compact also has the reboot-issue...
Mine has just done the fourth reboot in just a little more than one week. In different situations, with bluetooth in use and without. Once when I tried to call someone, once when I was searching for wifi networks and the other two times in pretty normal "just using it" situations.
As not everyone is having those issues, I think it is some hardware defect and I need to get the phone replaced, right?

Difficult to tell. A hard reset might help but it could also be a problem with Android 8 on xz1 that wasnt very well optimized..
Id get the handset replaced, 'repairing' didn't do anything for my issue. Only time will tell if my new handset has the same issues and same for you.
Well this morning I got in the car to go to work and went to turn on bluetooth. Tried OK google no response at all, went to manually unlock and it sat on the lock screen my finger prints not working and wouldnt swipe up for PIN entry. Mic and camera toggle reacted to swipes but didnt do anything. Then it rebooted.
Bye bye Xperia XZ1 Compact, the potential was there but rebooting and dodgy camera is too much to hope for a fix for.
