should i buy a one plus 3t? or wait for 5? - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

are you guys enjoying the 3t? worth every penny? will u upgrade to the next one plus this year? is it worth waiting?

As long as they continue to update the 3t the way they are, I'll be keeping mine for a while. Phone works great, looks great and I'm experiencing great battery life on the stock rom

I'm simply in love with mine. It has AMOLED display, hardware that secures future, good camera.
This can be told about many phones, but... Do they have so frequent software updates? Beta twice a month! Actually, developers are listening to people's opinions (obviously can't listen to everyone).
From what I've seen, many people who changed their phones from s7e/nexus to OP3T are really content with it.
Battery life is another great thing, it easily goes through a day and charges so quickly!

If you don't need a new phone urgently, you might as well wait for the next OnePlus phone. As much as we don't want to face it, OnePlus is likely going to put development for the 3/3T on the back-burner once the next generation of phones are released (looking at you, OP2). That said, the OP3/T is certainly an excellent device and worth its current price.

yeah its a killer phone. id get one. just did in fact.

I upgraded from the S7 edge to the 3t (like 2weeks ago) and I love this phone. Way ahead of the game, not a single particle of lag. That said, I will probably upgrade once the 5 comes out; as I love having the latest tech, but yeah. Getting this phone right now was worth it for me.

Upgraded from 6p and really like it!,
Just 2 features i really miss front stereo speakers and camera everything else is perfect for me

Best supported phone ive ever owned. Even with the nexus one, support from google still doesnt compare to oneplus.

Is that whats happened to oneplus 1 and 2?

Uhm, no idea.
I justified spending 400+ EUR on the 3T, because I thought at the time that I'm going to keep it for at least two years. And now I'm tempted to upgrade to the 5, because fsck yeah, this phone is awesome, can't wait for the next model. I'll just give this to someone in the family.

I looked to upgrade to something else but seriously - there's nothing else out there. It's at the top of it's game. Get it now, or if not in hurry for a few months. Wait.

Rumor
There is a rumor on OP 5 that it has a ceramic/glass back. Well if you don't wanna break it then...
Nothing official so.....
I still love the block type metal of the OP 3T so it is my ideal choice

When does one plus release its device?. Is it in August?..

It's all just rumor at this point. No announcement yet. And manufacturers usually don't tip their hand too early. Doing so would not only potentially damage the sales of the current device, but also may give their competition an edge.
I've seen some stories around that state that Samsung is buying up all the Snapdragon 835 supply. And being the Android market juggernaut, most (all?) other manufacturers are going to have to wait to get the 835. This alone may cause OnePlus to delay a launch.

The OP3T is amazing and I think OP5 will be even more. If you aren't in a hurry, would be nice to wait.

OP3t is a great device. Even if OP stops updates at nougat, the dev support will continue.
Look at the OPO, it has perfect nougat ROMs that are current. The OP3t will continue on with devs, cause it's a solid built device (as was the OPO). The OP2 had no nfc and the crap 810 cpu, and still solid on dev support.

I currently have a Note 5 and am looking to pick up another device for some additional R00T fun. My ONLY concern is the 1080p screen. I know this sounds absurd but we've been spoiled with 1440p. Can you really actually see a noticeable difference?

I understand you haha. I was a little worried myself, as a lot of people hyped it "down" .
Honestly, Samsung has the best screens any phone manufacturer can have. Comparing both, I noticed that the colors looked better on the S7 edge, and that the S7's screen gets brighter. Are those deal breakers? Absolutely not. The screen is great and 1440 p is not different compared to 1080p .
It'll definitely take the screen downgrade for a absolutely lagfree device. It's been almost 2 weeks and not a single app, or animation has lagged. Also battery life is great. Damn I still feel like I'm not using this device to its full capabilities lol

With how things are going, they seem to have found the hardware they really love, so they're developing their software now. I think they want to love their software as much as their hardware, so they may be sticking with the 3t. Look how many special editions are coming out, they got an otterbox deal and they acrually ship on time now.

If you want to use some vr hardware, then yes, 4k is better. Otherwise 1080p is faster to drive, and uses less power. So it's a trade-off.

I would get it definitely. Well i already did actually. Great phone I love it definitely worth the money and had a great supporting dev community. And if your worried about oneplus stopping updates it's no big deal cause there a lots of custom roms for this phone and there is a great community surrounding it.

Is Nexus 6 Worth Buying Now? :)

Hey all,
I am a former user of Oneplus One, planning to buy a new phone after getting the previous damaged in an accident. I had already ordered 32 GB Black Sapphire Samsung Galaxy S6 but I'm still in a state of confusion. As the "Exynos" processors doesn't offers much support developers. I am a user who loves flashing roms and tweaking devices. I was waiting for Oneplus two but it doesn't fulfilled my expectations.
I just want a honest review regarding the Camera and battery life. I had gone through hell lot of YouTube reviews but still I rely on reviews from an N6 user.
After I get a review from you guys I'll be deciding my next new Smartphone.
Regards.
Personally I highly recommend getting the 2014 Nexus 6.
The screen resolution and the front facing stereo speakers are my favorite parts of the device.
And while the camera is not perfect, I think that the camera is just fine. I have actually taken some good shots with the camera on the Nexus 6.
As for the battery, it actually seems great. The batter life is is a lot better than the HTC M8, which is the phone that I previously owned. With heavy usage, my phone actually lasts a full day without a charge.

Thanks for the reply.
I would highly recommend buying one. As mentioned previously the screen is beautiful, the cameras are good enough, great dev support, excellent reception, water resistant, the battery lasts me more than a day, direct updates from Google, and the speakers are outstanding. Last I checked it was only $499 with free shipping for the 32GB version from the Play Store, which isn't too bad for a high end device in my opinion.
My only complaints are it does push the size limits a bit. I love big phones, but with a case on I have to do some pretty wild hand gymnastics to reach the far corners of the screen or resort to two handed use. Without a case it's pretty slippery and prone to drops. Lollipop also has a few bugs, but those should (hopefully) be sorted when M is released in a month or two.

I am willing to buy a 64GB version as for the same price tag in India I'm getting a 32GB Galaxy S6 version. (I had already ordered one) Moreover camera was a bit of concern, but to shed out more for a smaller screen, an Exynos processor which doesn't have dev support is foolishness IMO. I'm not a guy who will stick to stock for a much longer time. Thanks to CM . So I guess I should go with N6 .
Thanks for the reply mate.
Anyone willing to comment regarding Camera?
I'd wait, unless you really want one now, and buy a cheap temporary phone to replace your broken one on ebay. Maybe try something new as a temporary to see if you like it, Windows Mobile, iPhone, etc. I'm not a "wait for the next big thing" guy when it comes to buying technology but you're so close now to new hardware releases, you'll have better choices and lower prices on older hardware if that's important to you. You can pickup a new Lumia 635 for under $50 new and try out Win10. It's a surprisingly good phone for <$50.
Within two months, you're going to see the two new Nexus phones, the N5 and N6. Reportedly the Nexus 5 is going to be priced similar to the original Nexus 5. If you aren't married to the Android platform you'll also see new iphones and Windows 10 Mobile (flagship) phones. Regardless of what you think of the N6, the price for one year old technology is certain to come down with the new hardware releases, I believe it is already being discounted.
I'm looking forward to the Nexus 5, the original was the best Android phone I've owed and I've been using them since first released on Verizon; LG did a terrific job with it. I'll only buy Nexus at this point until Google and the other manufacturers get the update issues squared away. The stagefright malware still not patched in many handsets is really a blackeye for the platform. I'll also take a close look at the Lumia 950, if it comes with a stylus I'll probably go for it. Android and Win10 work well for me, not ios, but I give the edge to Android.

I guess it depends on what you use it for. I use mine for work to document job site issues. Lighting isn't consistent from poor to very bright. No complaints, it does the job and the photos look good.
Thanks for brief reply. I guess it's a better option to wait for sometime and see what Nexus has for next release.
Will surely get a temporary phone
I love my nexus and think its the best phone out.
That said; WAIT! See how the new nexus is and also the new moto style X
If you like to flash roms, and customize endlessly, get this nexus 6 NOW, before they are all gone
you wont get bored with it, like you will with a s6 phone, with almost zero dev support
all the top devs have abandoned samsung devices, so keep that in mind when you are deciding
check the dev threads for this phone and be amazed at what is out there for it
Yes!! I just got one after having an m9, s6 edge, and g4... Loving it and don't have any regrets except it can't take pictures for its life when its dark out. Everything else is awesome
there are some camera mods out there that help that alot; the motorola camera and gallery mod is an improvement

Absolutely. I agree ! S6 has nearly zero development.
yep, I had a S6 edge for 6 months and it was boring as could be
This thread helped a lot, as my 1+1 needs to be replaced and my only options are the n6 or s6 edge & I knew Samsung would have little dev support going on. That said, I'm not the type of person that needs a new phone every time a new one comes out, so the n6 it is.
Nexus devices..
To me Nexus devices is the way to go with Google putting out their early build of new software before the public is nice to have. NEXUS devices are developer friendly so you wont worry about future development. And with Google supporting most of their older phone is a nice addition.
Having broken my Lumia 930 a couple of weeks ago, I've spent ages prevaricating over what to replace it with. Finally grabbed myself a Nexus 6 last week, and I couldn't be happier with it.
Sure, you could wait for the next best thing to come out, but playing that game means you're always waiting for the next best thing...
Not much wrong with the phone the camera is just as slow and frustrating as the Nexus 5s was, just that the next nexus device will be out in a month or a month and a half. I know that's a long time to wait for a phone, but frankly I think waiting a month for newer hardware and an undoubtedly better camera are worth it.
Someone else suggested getting a cheaper phone to fiddle with in the mean time, I imagine as a dev having that extra phone around would be a boon.

3T or S8?

Hey guys, i'm currently looking into getting a 3t or s8 because i'm tired of having an iphone 6 for 2 years. Before the Iphone 6 I had the HTC One X, and then the HTC One m7. They were good phones but both spazzed out on me so I got rid of them. I'm looking into going back to android but I don't know if I should go with the s8 or 3t.. any suggestions? I know for the price the 3t is hard to beat, but i'm also a little worried about going ahead and getting one because the Oneplus 5 may be right around the corner...
thanks guys!
I went for the oneplus 3t and I'm keeping this handset at least for the next year or two. Plenty of development and just a quick snappy phone with massive ram.

Yeah I went ahead and got the 3t. I dont want to spend $300 more for the S8. Hopefully we get lots of updates in the future.
I went for the 3T no bloatware, rooting capabilities (flashing mods and kernels) best bang for your buck
I love my 3T. My only concern is Oneplus commitment to updates on phones that aren't current. Sure, the Oneplus 3 and 3T continue to get regular updates. The Oneplus 2 and X get nothing however.
So will this happen when the Oneplus 4/5 comes out? I don't care as I update to the new phone whenever Oneplus does. But for those who want to keep their handsets longer? Who knows.

Yep, i'm a bit worried about this too. It seems like we have a really good dev community though so I'm sure this phone will be popular for a while.
For the main question, I'm kind of debating this myself too - I actually have both on order and am going to compare them before I make my decision. However, I will say the only thing that's drawing me to the S8 is the wow factor of it - and newness of the display and whatnot. In terms of tried and true performance, I really don't think a Samsung phone will be able to beat the 3T. Samsung just has never optimized their OS that well.
As for the 3T getting regular updates, this is just a guess of mine, so take it with a grain of salt, but I feel like OnePlus will support the 3T longer than they did the OP2 and OPX partially because it came out later in their release cycle, and that they're continuing to release new variants of it. It'd be really surprising for them to pitch the matte black version of the phone in April, and then fail to provide any updates for it after the OP5 comes out in July or August or whenever. It could certainly happen, but it seems like bad business to me.
Even still, with the independent development community OnePlus phones have, even if there's no official updates, you should still have unofficial releases coming for quite some time. I know someone who didn't replace their OnePlus One until very recently purely because it was still a perfectly satisfactory experience for them.
S8 benchmarks about the same as the Oneplus 3T. Of course they also force touchwiz, a locked bootloader, and other bloatware on you. If you root or care about custom roms don't get a s8.
OP3T. If you're a member here , I guess you wouldn't like to deal with all that locked bootloaders and other stuff to customize your phone
Well, you live in the US, so 3T. Otherwise I'd go with the S8 INTL Exynos.
It is indeed much pricier, but you get a big screen, IP67, much better camera and some additional features. Software side, their GraceUX (7.0) update on the S7 was already great - but the OOS on the OP3Tis just faster and more AOSP feeling

I have the 3t, decided to order the s8. The GraceUX look amazing. So much better than TouchWiz. Hated that. Also hated the bloatware on Samsung phones, so thats why I did not go for the s7. They have really pared back the bloat on the S8 and that screen, just draw dropping! The 3t is ok, but I hate the fingerprint scanner. Why did OP have to introduce their own method instead of using qualacoms. It takes several attempts some times to unlock the phone. Just dont like it at all!

If you like to change from one cage to another, take the S8 and pay a lot money for it... But if you like not to be a cagebird anymore, you have to choose the OP3T!!!
Don't make a mistake!

Well there's really no contest here tbh. The S8 is obviously the superior phone. However, it also has the superior price... So it's really up to you how much you wanna spend. You won't be disappointed either way.
As long as you're in the us go with the the 3t. I love this phone, I'm going to stick with it til the 5/6 comes out then upgrade. Even if after his year they slow down with the updates to oos, I do believe with the 3 they will keep up with the security patches. I have flashed most if the roms in the forums and all of them are great as well. Allot of flexibility and the hardware/software combination is phenomenal in both performance and battery. I've had several htc's, lg's, and galaxy's and tbh I don't believe I will ever go back any of them as long as oneplus is in business. Even then I may try out a huawei or another chinese company as well. Bang for buck they seem to have it down very well in comparison to the bigger companies.
3T without a doubt
If I had those two devices in front of me so that I could go home with one of them, that would be 3T regardless of anything
Actually the only better feature of S8 is the display, but nothing more. OP beats the new Samsung in every aspect (not to mention software factor)

Better screen, better CPU, better GPU, wireless charging, better data/wifi speeds, way better camera, IP 6/8 (dust proof and water resistant), IRIS scanner, heart rate sensor.
Come on guys.. I love my 3T too but let's try to stay within the realms of reality here... The S8 crushes the 3T in everything except in charging speeds, software (with this one being subjective) and price. Where I'm from, an S8 plus will cost around the same as 2 Oneplus 3T's.
never go with samsung.
they fck up android so hard, everytime.
worst company when it comes to software. by far.

But it's Samsung
Their flagship will be obsolete in a year or so while we will still be getting independent developers' support. The device is only as good as its software.
My experience with Samsung is just horrible and their devices are just hyped up (like Apple products). If you want a really decent Android experience then definitely don't go that way.
I confess, I quite exaggerated speaking about the technical side of this all but as I said my story with Samsung is terrible and I really do think that their products are just bad.

Having used both the oneplus 3t and S7 edge , considering the fact that you went from HTC to iPhone i figure you would not want to fool around your phone with root and all . i therefore suggest going with s8 if you can afford . Like others have said and my personal experience touchwiz is not really that blotted (at least on the international variant ) and camera on the s7/s8 will stomp op3t any day not to mention the water and dust resistance and biggest of all if available Samsung pay !

eh I don't really care about samsung pay. I'll probably root it but I don't think i'll mess with flashing ROMs anymore like I did on my HTC's, if i do it won't be any time soon. I went ahead and got the 3t because I'm not really trying to spend $700.

Are you planning to upgrade ?

So the OP5 is coming soon, we have few leaks about it but are you thinking about an upgrade ? Or you will keep this beast for one/two more years ?
I just got mine yesturday so i plan on keeping it till at least the 6 comes out.
I'll upgrade if the specs are good. 2k screen with a good camera and easily unlockable with good dev support. If not I'll get a new different phone either the international Note 8 version with unlocked bootloader or the new Pixel.
Just saw the news said they drop support for the op2. Hope OnePlus won't drop the software update support on op3t. Otherwise I will use 3t until op6 comes out.
Nah, I´m really happy with the change from a Nexus 6P to the 3T. The only downside is the camera at night and to be honest with myself I don´t use the camera enough to justify an upgrade. I love the 1080 screen, 6gb ram (especially at the beta, app management is the best on any android phone I´ve experienced). And regarding android upgrades, as long as i get security patches I´m happy. Google seems to f#ck things up more and more along the road..
I didn't buy 3T to upgrade it just after the next gen comes. Like seriously, the purpose of all those specs like 6GB of RAM is to last long and endure technological evolution process as well.
BTW I had an opportunity to get my hands onto S8 recently and even for free I wouldn't swap these devices even though 3T is from the previous generation of flagships (which apparently means nothing in this case).
I have the 3T since January. No reasons to upgrade. I'll keep it for 2 years, I hope.
not yet, unless the OP5 is groundbreaking
Maybe
Oh I'm upgrading but def not to the OP5. Probably gonna grab an S8+ pretty soon and then the Note 8 when it comes out. I only buy OPs if I need a new phone and there's nothing out that interests me. They are great interim phones, for sure.
If it'll be under 500€ i'll buy it
Im going to go with a solid maybe. Normally i dont buy phones for cameras. Never have never will. but im very interested in this things camera, those picture samples leaked are SOOOOOOO damn good looking. Normally id reach for my nikon but holy moly the detail. You know youve got a good camera if you can see the scales on a strawberry. The 835 sounds amazing 6gb ram is super useful and if that new leak is true with the 30 minute full charge on dash, thats a buy right there just for the charging feature. My lord-y thats just smartphone bliss right there. Forget battery banks imagine what you can get in a 5 minute charge. Theyll change the tag line to a whole days power in a 10th of an hour.

Its a low chance that is the only major upgrade. They will definitely be using the 835 or hopefully even thr 850 if its delayed enough.

They've already confirmed it will use snapdragon 835. That's about a 10% performance increase over snapdragon 821.
I do belive that the 5 is a good idea. Im sure they way they use the 835 it will be more than 10%
I've owned alot of phones in my time, but the OP3t is hands down my favorite. The OP5 is gonna have to bring a lot more then just a camera upgrade for me to drop 500 bucks on it.
If the price is between $400 & $450, I'll buy immediately. If it's qHd I'll buy immediately, below $600. If the materials are new (ceramic) I'll buy immediately.
If not, I'm going to wait and see what the Note looks like. Or the Mate.
I love this phone and only got it in March or something.

Note 8 to V30?

Hey guys, I have been using the Note 8 for 6 months now and I like the phone over all. Few things I am not finding very comfortable are it's size and the weight. And in general gotten a bit bored of the phone. So, I had been to a local store yesterday and saw the V30 here in India. And I must say I really liked it. The design, the display, the form factor and over all appeal of the phone was really good. The only poor thing was it's front camera. But I am not selfie person so I can live with it. But the wide angle rear camera is dope. I hardly use the portrait mode on the Note 8. But I used to take lot of fun pictures with my G6. So I am thinking of switching to the V30. Has anyone here done it? Or own both the phones? Need some honest opinions
If you are just EVEN considering this, my advice is that you should do it, in my case I would NEVER consider using anything less than a samsung galaxy note series device, for me, it is all about the S PEN, the most unique feature among all other devices, what makes the note series devices stand out, you see, anybody who gets a note device should consider the s pen as the #1 reason, if not, the S+ series would be the logical choice, or other good real flagship for that matter, (LG, sony, apple, google, etc)
Haha. Thanks for the advice. I haven't been able to use anything other than Samsung phones in the last 4 years. And one Major reson for that has been the display and to an extent camera. I love the Note 8 and would have not thought of switching, had I not seen the V30. The V30 is much more comfortable in the hand because of its size, weight and form factor. Also, the POLED screen is so much more better than their old LCD displays. And I even compared the Note 8 to the V30 and to my surprise I sort of liked the V30 better. And even while playing those large 4K videos, the V30 was stutter free while my Note 8 clearly was not as smooth. Nevertheless, I am still super confused, as i fear that i might regret my decision later. I have spent a lot of money on the insurance and on the original Samsung case and resale value is bad here in India. But my gut feeling is to still go ahead and try the V30
Well, I thought I will be using the S pen a lot, but unfortunately dint use it after the first few weeks.
I agree, if that's how you feel go for it. Even if someone tries to convince you not to, you already have the thought & may not agree. But if someone tells you reasons why you should you'll probably agree because you have that thought already. People look for assurance to make big decisions, it's human nature. But this decision is yours, it's your personal preference, everyone is different & nothing wrong with that.
My past 2 phones were Notes, I'm a big fan of the SPen. I'm always up for change & consider others. I do look at phones other than Samsung whenever I get a new one. But LG is not one of them. I'm personally not a fan of any of their products except my room AC is LG, their phones & TVs, they never catch my eye. Quality & features seem lacking to me. Maybe part of it is the experience with them that I saw when I worked in OEM electronic repair. We always said that LG stood for Low Grade. Haha
It sounds like you are the type to get bored of phones & need to change often. In the US for T-Mobile we have a Jump On Demand program where after 18 months or something like that you can trade in your phone for some new model. Great for people who like to have the latest & greatest. Do they offer anything like that where you are? It will help your wallet to switch phones often.
Hahaha. I understand you. For me, LG has always been that brand which has come very close to replacing my Samsung phones But never succeeded. I have an LG 4K tv which I absolutely love. As far as the decision of buying the V30, I haven't made up my mind completely yet. I wanted to know from someone who has used both and if they had a strong reason not to switch from the Note 8, apart from its S pen feature of course. I am still in 2 minds actually, since I will be wasting a lot of money and Also, if I regret the decision later, I will definitely not be able to spend more to get back to the Note 8 for now. Haha.

Hahahaha. Absolutely!! You got me. I am that kind of person who get bored with phones very often. And unfortunately here in India we don't have such schemes. What a shame!!
To be fair I've never played with a LG TV so I can't really say I don't like them. LG crossed my mind before buying the Note 8. Then I decided to buy an Exynos Note 8 cause I can't live without custom recovery & root cause we only have Snapdragon in the US. But then again if it comes to the day when that's not an option I may switch from Samsung even if not available on other OEMs. There are some Huawei phones that seem nice, I think they will be a great competitor in due time if not already.
That sucks that resale value is low where you are. How about selling on ebay? I've never sold my old phones. Luckily I'm not the type to upgrade phones every year, that would definitely not be good for my wallet as flagship phones cost way too much these days.
Unfortunately, It's all the same here whether you sell it on eBay or any other platform. Nevertheless, i might not buy the V30 if i dont sell my Note 8 for a decent price. Lets see

Actually on Jump on Demand in teh US, you can trade for other new flagship devices several times a year - the 18 months is the lease term.

OP do as you please. Your money and your choice. V30 excellent phone. LG blows away EVERY phone in audio away. The new LG V30 coming out soon. The LG V30 ThinQ? LG sales have been pretty bad. So now they do slight upgrade from last year flagship huh? Even the new V30 only thing it has over Note 8 is better chip and audio.
Regular V30 only had better audio then Note 8. I do agree V30 looks better. The curved screen is worthless. I'd still take Note 8 over V30. I use to be a die hard LG fan. If you do rock LG stick with V series! There other phones have crap build quality.
Worst build quality I've ever dealt with. Stick to V20, V30, V? Etc.
Even the V series is slightly risky according to some and this lawsuit below. Sales have been so bad rumors that LG canned LG G7. Kinda concerning to invest in a company like that? LG made Pixel 2 screens which is having a bad time with screens.

So, i could finally come to a decision after i went back to the store again today and played with the V30 for good amount of time. Well, i did one important thing before going to the store, which is, replaced my Note 8 official protective standing case with a local 360 degree case. This had already made a lot of difference in how i felt the Note 8 in the hand. So, while i was checking out the V30 today at the store, i did all the possible tests on how better or worse the screen is compared to the Note 8 and how good or bad the camera is and over all how the feel of holding it is, against the Note 8. But when i finally started typing on the V30, trust me, it literally felt like a toy. I had not felt that way until that moment. I immediately went back to my Note 8 and typed on it and i knew i had the better phone with me. Also, like i said, i had changed the case to a much lighter one which had already made the difference. But when i did try typing on the V30, i knew why i had paid those extra dollars for the Note 8. Happily came back home and not going to probably check any other phones until the Note 9 or Pixel 3 XL comes out. Thanks again for all the responses. My Note is here to Stay for longer
Edit: Changing the case to a lighter one would have made it more vulnerable to breaking, but hey, what is the insurance for after all?
Good decision

That's why I don't bother upgrading every year, waste of money IMO. Usually need 2 generations to see worthy differences. Same with Android versions, need to 2 letter versions to see noticeable differences. That's why I don't understand why everyone was so anxious to get Oreo. Now that it's here, nothing exciting about it & different than all the past Oreo reviews.

Agreed 100%. 1k a year for a phone? No thanks. $500 not to bad. Yeah Oreo doesn't seem much different. We should get Android P, but that will be a while. Like you pointed out usually takes 2 generations to see a worthy difference. In regards to new features and better specs. Some people want newest phone though. For those people do as you will. Others that on the fence really read into what we're saying.

Galaxy s10 plus vs 6T...thoughts?

Based off of what we know so far is there anyone contemplating acquiring this phone over the beloved 6T?
Pre ordering Monday for sure [emoji16]

coming from s7 to op6t, i would say:
if you're planning to switch to samsung, buy s9/s9+. otherwise stay on op6t.
since you're here, you know what custom roms are. and if you're a cfw-lover (AOSP/LOS-based) like me, you cant switch to a newer samsung phone because it will takes a half/whole year (#ExynosSux).

I have had the Note 8, S9, S9+ and the Note 9 already and I really don't mess with changing ROMS any longer so for me those things you mentioned aren't a really big factor me. But I can appreciate your feedback!

so then go for it. Its a good phone. For me not so much difference to the s9/+ but still a sammy phone (myself a sammy fanboy / ive had s2, s3, Note 2 ,s5, s7)
I had the Note, 1,2,4,7,8 and galaxy S6 and galaxy s6 edge. Somewhere in between I had the Axon 7 after the Note 7 debacle.
I have to say I have not loved a phone like my first smartphone the iPhone 3g and the original phablet the Dell Streak.
All that has changed once I got the OnePlus 6T. This phone is great and most of all the software experience is top notch. I hated the Samsung phones always slown down after time. I am glad I made the change to the OnePlus. If I upgrade this year it will be to the OnePlus 7T.
Only to be outdone by some other phone in 2-3 months, then THAT phone will be outdone in 2-3 months and so on.
If you have the OP6T, or pretty much any phone in the last couple of years, and, you haven't jacked it up by screwing
with something you don't know how to do, and it is working properly, why waste your money on a SMALL improvement
in performance, that 99% of users won't see, unless they are stuck in benchmarks.
Ummm..... This device has it's own forum already. So why don't you go post these questions there instead.

Nope.
Hole in the screen of the plus is worse than a notch.
The price is outrageous.
It's Samsung and you won't get updates.
It's Samsung and they don't like unlocked BL.
Finally, it's Samsung.

LMAO....ok then!
I came to the 6T from an S9+. I have no regrets at all!
I had the first Galaxy S. Felt completely let down by Samsung's so called upgrades that made the phone less and less usable. I swore to never get a Samsung, so no, not getting one
I always hated Samsung but the new UI is rather nice.
Had the S7 Edge while the specs were nice the OS is still garbage and waiting 6 months for Major update after it's pushed to AOSP it a joke.. Especially when you pay top $..
And Exynos is inferior to SnapDragon + basically any dev support for the SoC sucks..

It's a hard no for me. That hole punch that cuts into videos and of course the price tag. I'd go back to the S9 or G7 or V40.

Basically my thoughts lol.
Same old. Nothing really new or exciting . anything good will be on most of the phones this year anyway . And the double cut out is horrible. Much worse than a teardrop notch
The camera takes good photos based off people opinions, I like the different colored backs, fingerprint scanner is interesting, the camera punch is an interesting take on the notch (would be painful to see it during full screen video), price is outrageous, 1tb of storage only supported on certain devices (and is it really needed), and the One UI I could get into. The price alone will keep me away from it, although I am tempted to trade in my iPhone X for it.
Really interested in the fold. The concept of having a foldable tablet captures my attention but will see what other companies come up with and life cycle of a niche product.
Anytime you want to buy something new you might want to ask yourself:
1: Do I need it?
2: Is it worth it (usually involves money)?
3: What i am ok with if I look the other way?
Thank me later if you can answer on this 3 simple questions. Some people are hard fans some people haters. People in the middle go to OnePlus lol which brings them back to that circle anyway because they become fans or haters and there are people in the middle. I call it "circle of lifetime death". Whatever you go with it should be important to you only because in the end you are the one who will be using it.
I have been OnePlus user since day 1 (OnePlus One) because they made affordable devices and currently I am using 6T. For my own perspective I do like the new Samsung S10 line but it is not really worth the money for me.
Does it come with a lanyard to put through that hole so you can carry your phone with it?
Oh nevermind that's for the camera.
The hole punch design is the worst thing ever, it just looks so out of place.
