The subject pretty much says it all. I know that Google Now won't work on my Nexus 7 offline (even with downloading the offline speech recognition). Can you do even the basic stuff (like make a call) via touchless control without Internet access?

i put mine in airplane mode. okay google now woke up the phone but telling it to open an app said i was in airplane mode.
the only command that works without data is "find my phone" as far as i know...

"Call" works without data. I think text does too, but I never tried it.

It's a bit more complicated. On my Moto, when I have internet, it uses Google Search App to search contacts and place calls. When I disable wifi and mobile data, call command still works, but uses some internal app (which, in my opinion, is better than G. Search in contact name recognition, but nvm...)
But after few hours without connection, call command also stops working and you only get "Data issues error".

there are two things recognizing voice stuff. Moto and google. if moto can't figure out what you said, it sends it to google (you can't tell any of thise is going on just looking at the phone). Moto describes all of this on their website somewehere. This is also why when you do certain commands, sometimes different windows show up. If moto recognized it, they launch their stuff to do the command, if it doesn't, then google tries to recognize it and then does what it does with that comamnd.
i think you can activate the touchless control, but won't get result of your search as not internet access.

1. Google Earth crashes at EVERY opportunity. This means new phone reboot. It seems that it does it only on WIFI.
2. Google Now calling,through voice commands crashes the phone.
3. Battery status no longer reliable. And i mean no longer reliable at all.
Has anyone met any of these issues?

nope, all 3 work perfectly over here. and when are you judging battery stats to be reliable? its an estimate, and its always very off in the beginning.

All of that works for me. Has worked on every rom i've tried.
Battery meter gets more accurate with time. Maybe you need to reset battery stats as well if that is still a thing.

Thanks, that did help indeed by the crashing of Google Earth;
it did not help however at google now voice calling. What did help, and I hope Google will index this and some one will find it, was the fact that I had an alternative SIP calling account, Voip calling, installed in the Phone - ... (up right) - settings - calls - calling accounts. Removing the account fixed the crashes. This is no third party app we are talking about here. It is the built-in VOIP call manager. So every time i tried to call via voice commands (in the car for example) it crashed the whole phone.
This needs to be fixed. Thanx for the advice on cache wiping. that helped too.

I have HTC One mini 2 for two years on Android 4.4.2 all stock without any big problems until now.
I came home on last Sunday with GPS working. I do not install any new app but GPS on Monday stop working. All apps have the same problem no gps signal.
I tried sports tracker, gps test, google maps, sygic navigation. Same problem. I tried unistall every app which can use GPS( or I think that I tried unistall all of them) and nothing helps.
My last try was disable google play app and after restarting my phone, problem solved GPS working again.
Then I activate google play app again, reinstall some apps again and it was ok until next morning, situation was the same. So I deactivated google play again and after restart it was ok.
Could you give me some hint where should be my problem? )

I do not have house without roof so I tested it in a car, and open air.

Without satellite fix and when google play is activated all satellites "are off", after deactivating and restart, satellites imidiately works and after few second fix is on too.

Icon in notification bar works for a first time since restart. In my opinion there some "looping or deadlock", because after first try "gps using app"(for example gps test) after restart, sometimes icon stays blinking.

i only asked because it happen to me when i installed an mp3 transmitter in my car.
it turn out that GPS wont lock if a 89.5 frequency in the air.
i used this APP for problem solving. you can reset sat and see all satellites with force signal.
have you tried resenting your phone? you can do a backup with HTC Sync and then restore.

Exactly it starts approx. 10days ago.
Do you find any solution? Try to deactivate google play, restart your phone if it helps... But it is only temporary solution. I am looking for better solution.
I think that there was some secret update of some google services and there is a bug.

I had a similar problem with a cheap chinese dashboard camera when it runs from 12V car socket, gps signal was weaker, but it is not this case.
I use simple version of your app called GPS test - I cant post links yet so there it is:

I have not tried reseting yet, because I think it is a SW problem and I think it is possible to fix it... I hope.

I have done factory reset and GPS worked over the weekend but now same problem again. If I restart 1, 2 or 3 times in a row it may start working again. I will test your solution deactivate Google Play services and restart.

OK. I think you will face a problem with deactivate google play services. It was my first try to solve the problem, but I cant deactivate this in my phone. So insted of google play services I disabled google play store and it finally works(after restart).
Now I have another idea. I will try to unistall all updates from google play store app and we will see. Now it is working, but I will be more confident if it will work tomorrow(over the night) too.

so i just tested mine and sat nav wouldn't get a lock.
however using the app and reloading xdata it fixed the problem.

Same problem here.
Disabled most Google services without success. Can't disable Google play store itself.
Have tried GPS fix apps without success. Any assistance here would be great as its been about a week now and starting to have a real negative impact.

I tried to unistal google play store update, so I had a stock version and it works ok, but I have to have internet connection disabled.
When Internet is on google play store is automaticly updated to last version which is the bad one and problem persist.
So maybe new question - it is possible to block updates for google play store app? Or is it possible to install previous version of this app?
I can use only two of them, the stock one(very very old) and automaticly updated last one. I would prefer last one minus one version that one was ok for me. Any hints how to revert to older version?

Yes, with factory version of Google Play Store (4.8.2.0) GPS works without having anything disabled

in order to disable Google play store (1)
First, you must have version 4.8.2 installed (just replace it in /system/app with the new com.android.vending.apk)
Download a root service from the store called "Disable service" (again make sure root is installed and the app is given root permission)
Now, in the disable service app, navigate to the system app tab and find Google play store. Tap on it and you will get a list of services
Scroll to the bottom and uncheck "check Wifi And Update" service.
You will see a "please wait" notification, and at the bottom busybox should appear, notifying you that the app was given root access
Exit the app and voila! Google play store will never update itself or Google play services ever again (unless you install a new version, in which case you would need to repeat the process)

They are trying to do their best to solve the problem but HTC support from Poland resend this problem to HTC support to Egypt and them works on it.
I think that there is only two solutions - new version of Google play store app or HTC software update for One mini 2, both are very complicated, because google do not care about HTC people and HTC stops to pruduce updates for mini 2 for about year and half ago...

Please note that HTC uses google play for system updates.
Make sure you have the latest version of:
HTC Service Pack
I have now done factory reset of my phone again, this time without restoring my last backup and GPS are working as it should even after restart I forgot to backup my text messages though But now I get a new problem, I can't write text on to photos in landscape mode in Snapchat Text frame just run over the screen from the middle and up out of screen and keyboard doesn't pop up. No problem in portrait mode...

I were a little bit hurry with victorius I Always turn my phone off at night and there was the problem again next day So clearing the app data for Google Play Store and restarting the phone gets GPS working again as mentioned earlier in this thread.

I thought that you will have the problem next day and I do not want to write it there.
I think that problem is somewhere between google play store app and HTC modification of Android in our devices.
I think users cant do anything except disable google play store app, unistal google play store app and disable net connection or wait for HTC update or wait for next version of google play store app.
I just updated my watch to Android Wear 2.0
If I try to use Google Assistant while my phone is connected to WiFi, it works (and really well, like to send a whatsapp to someone)
The moment I try to use Google Assistant without WiFi (over Mobile Data) it says 'Can't reach Google, check if watch is connected to WiFi or your phone'
Funny thing: if I connect the phone to a WiFi signal WITHOUT Internet connection, assistant works again...?
Does anyone else have this problem? I already tried enabling every option at Settings/Apps/System Apps/Google ...

Well that is one of the reasons I rolled back to 1.5.
It would work sometimes and many times it would give me that cant reach message so basically it was making my watch useless as it was very inconsistent. :/
I'm having the same issues, I've done the enabling permissions thing as well. Any one have any other experience with the issue?
Along side google assistant not working the play store won't load or even the weather!
That being said, even though those services aren't working google maps on wear runs fine.
These are some odd problems.

Did you factory reset anything? (your phone or watch?) installed or flash something?
Well I am on the 2 core enabled kernal. I also followed instructions to give Google all permissions on the app Page. I turned on location from phone on the watch (not sure if that helps) and probably reset about 5-7 times haha.

Sure, open settings--> apps ---> (Scroll down) system apps ----> google ---> permissions ---> enable permission to phone/etc... (I enabled all of them)
I noticed something today, make sure you have location services turned on, on your phone. I turned it off for a minute by accident and noticed none of the google assistant stuff worked anymore, back on and it worked well!

Also having somewhat of the same issue... Here's what's happening to me.
Sometimes Google Assistant works and sometimes it's doesn't for me. When it's not working my watch shows that I am not connected to Bluetooth in the connectivity settings. However, my phone (ZTE Blade X Max Z983) shows I'm fully connected, and I'm getting all notifications as normal on my Asus Zenwatch 2. If I reboot both devices everything works perfectly as it should for a short time. And of course it works fine when I'm connected to WiFi, just not over Bluetooth on a mobile data connection. Both my phone and my watch are running 7.1 so I'm not sure if the where the issue lies.
I got my P40 Pro Plus yesterday, pretty flawless install of GMS on the factory .137 firmware. Google Maps is now installed and it kept shutting down, but I was able to get a longer time in between oncr to download a map of a selected area. Afterward and about three restarts of the phone later it worked. All except for voice assistance. The voices is there, as I did a test, but there are no prompts. Has anyone been able to fix this and get the prompts?

I do not have this issue, my GMap / AA voice assistance working fine.
Did you try force close your map, clear cache and data, reboot ?

Yep, a couple of times. The behavior changes, though and it's inconsistent. Right now, the app will open and function so long as I never turn wifi on. The moment wifi goes on, the app shuts off.
If you have any tips on reinstall, I'd be happy to try them out.

Not sure you tried uninstall and reinstall before? Try boot into Recovery Mode and clear cache ?

Yes, reinstalled numerous times, also from APKPure. I reinstalled again after clearing the data and cache and it works fine now,but still no voice assistance,which others widely report as well, including in this very forum. The recovery mode thing you posted sounds sketchy. This is a brand new phone and Google Maps is widely reported throughout the internet as having broken voice assistance.

I think I was very lucky, I got mine in early Sept which is prior to existing GMS method stopped working and near all g. apps working fine.
Fingercross my GMS will not break during firmware OTA update.
Outta nowhere it's working now, no issues. I don't get why sometimes I can't even reopen the app while on wifi to having it work perfectly.
Now to try and figure out how to fix Google Assistant.
