SIM Network Unlock - P8 Lite (2017) Discussion

Hi there!
This is a topic that lot's of people are asking for help in the several threads and sites I've searched but so far I couldn't find an answer. My way to help all of you (and at the same time helping myself) is to open a thread dedicated to this subject so the experts we have here can help us all.
In my specific case, I bought a Huwaei P8 Lite 2017 from Vodafone, which means it had its firmware installed and only 1 sim card working.
So far, I have already:
Bootloader unlock:
FRP unlock;
TWRP and SuperSU installed;
ROOT;
Debranded firmware (see printscreen below)

The phone is now sim unlocked but is still sim network locked, which means I can use at the same time 2 sim cards of the same network provider (Vodafone) but can't use any other sim card from other network provider. I think it's called NW locked.
So far I can only see a way to do it: paying a website to give me the unlock pin.
I have tried other ways like, for example dr.Fone (a software that should unlock network locks and other stuff), but it doesn't have this phone available (maybe because it was released this year).
As I told you before, I'm not an expert, I'm a simple android user, but I can't believe there isn't a way to unlock this via terminal emulator or via bootloader or even changing the modem or radio version.
So I ask all the experts or other users with this knowledge, to please help me and the other users to unlock this network lock.
Many thanks in advance.

I used dc-unlocker .com (instructions can be found under /huawei-android-hisilicon-unlock-guide). It was 4 euros and was quick. Even though 4 euros wasn't that much for me if someone knows a free service I would love to hear of it.

Thank you for sharing.
Just a question: Did you unlocked your Huawei P8 Lite 2017, or it was another model? As far as I can see from their website, it only supports the following models:
Huawei Ascend MATE 7
Huawei C199s
Huawei Honor 6
Huawei Honor 6 Plus
Huawei P7
Huawei P8 lite
Huawei P8
Huawei P8 max
Huawei G735 G Play
Huawei G Play Mini
Huawei Honor Cherry
Huawei Honor CherryMini
Huawei Honor CherryPlus
Huawei Honor 4C
Huawei Honor 4X
Huawei Honor 4X Play

Yes, I have the Huawei P8 Lite 2017 which I unlocked using their service. The same thing is also on the pricelist. I don't think that there is the newer model listed there either so I payed the 4 euros and it seemed to be enough.
I also checket the supported models list again and the Huawei P8 lite 2017 is actually listed there twice just with its another names Huawei GR3 2017 and Huawei Honor 8 Lite 2017.
You can find the info of its aliases from here for example:
gsmarena .com/huawei_p8_lite_(2017)-8516.php

P9 remove retail demo mode

I just bought a Huawei P9, The screen went into sleep mode after 15 seconds though, so I tried to change this. After saving, nothing happened though, When I press the power button a demo shows up. Turns out what I bought was a retail demo device.
it has many other problems :/
Anyone here knows how to get rid of that demo ?
here's a screenshot for my phone :

My best guess would be the same method I used to 'debrand' my one.
My one was from Orange and had 2 of their apps i couldn't uninstall.
Steps I did to convert it to c432b180.
- Download SRK tool + C432 full update zip
- Unlock bootloader with srk tool
- Root
- Once rooted use the change oeminfo and custom.bin to c432.
- Restart device in update mode (vol + - and power) with the dload file method in sdcard.
My device was then coverted to c432.
If bootloader is still unlocked, relock with srk.

This looks good, though do you believe that rooting the Mate 20 Pro will be achievable? As it stands we don't even have the option to Allow OEM Unlocking in developer settings and so without that we're pretty stuck....
The mate 20 looks sublime, but after the diabolical development scene here on the p20 pro I have to say I wouldn't buy another Huawei as it's going to be a lot worsen following the bootloader decision, even though there is a paid for alternative it's enough to put off so many users, coupled with the mental way Huawei ROMs are made too.
Root will happen, but I'd be very surprised to see many developers go near any Huawei or Honor device again.
Topjohnwu is the man to watch for all things root.

where can i find how to do it?
The picture posted is for the honour view 10 ?
(I googled the model number) as yet the only way to get a rooted device is to buy it pre-rooted. I'm guessing its possible to inject root into a rom image but getting it flashed is a different problem as it looks like Huawei has blocked manual updates from the device and as I understand it you are only able to update ROMs directly from them ?

It wasn't release and probably never be released as Huawei confirms that they will not release the Pie kernel source code so root will close to impossible to happen as of the moment.

Any custom ROM?

Hello guys, will be there any custom ROM for this great device? OpenKirin ROMs are not compatible with Mate 20 Lite.

Probably not, as you can't unlock the bootloader through huawei anymore. There is a way to do it, but you'll have to pay like 50 dollars to do so.

The last one I saw was a good 130 bucks which is ridiculous at this point
I get that people want to have money for their services but... ugh
I'm at the edge of going back to my Honor 8 just for rooting purposes and selling my 20 Lite
Mate 20 lite has received first custom rom
But you have to update to android 9
Go to openkirin site and click on devices, scroll down and see mate 20 lite emui9
Now you can download RROS 7.0.1 for emui 9
How to update to Emui 9?
Could someone tell me how to change the cust of my mobile to receive updates? Thank you.

You can not do that anymore since you can not get the bootloader unlock code.

Did anyone manage to get Minecraft Earth working on Xiaomi Mi 9 Lite?

I installed the latest versions of Minecraft Earth & ARCore from 4pda forum and it works(at least it doesn't crash). Sometimes, the "Licence error" appears, so I need to reinstall the app. I can walk and, but when I try to use AR, it gets stuck on the "make sure you're in a safe location while using AR" screen. So my question is: Did anyone manage to get Minecraft Earth working on Xiaomi Mi 9 Lite without root?

You need to install ARcore from play store. Versions downloaded from any other place won't work.

Thanks... But Mi 9 Lite doesn't support ARCore. We can try writing to Xiaomi using "Services & feedback" asking to sertificate Google ARCore on Xiaomi Mi 9 Lite... :good: :good: :good:

I really don't get why Xiaomi can't give us AR support, it's not like the phone is incompatible, there are a lot of phones with Snap 710 that are supported, eg. Nokia 8.1, Oppo Reno, Realme X...

Yeah, and the Minecraft on Xiaomi Mi 9 Lite works excellent without bugs and errors. I think it works even better than on Samsung Galaxy A5. I'm playing on Meizu MX5 which is less powerful than your Xiaomi.

I may have installed a wrong version, or maybe I changed my firmware region, idk...Please help me...
Hi There!
Same situation (well maybe, i bought my phone used so i can only assume its the same):
i have 10.1.0.132 on my Pro Plus.
Hisuite says that i am on the latest official Developer version (!!!).
I found this YT movie that sounds promising only that the download offered is for P40 Pro (no +).
But maybe it gets us into the right direction...
Huawei P40 Pro Fix Update OTG After Downgrade & Install Google Play Store - YouTube
Let us share results!

Okay, i have got confirmation that the seller of the phone DID do a downgrade in order to install GMS.
Hi then somehow failed and diceded to erase GMS attempts.
So thats why my phone is on the version it has now ( 10.1.0.132 ).
Here is a screenshot what HiSuite has to say, it seems to think that i am on a developer version.
(Maybe thats true, i do not know what kind of versions are / were used for the downgrade).
Screenshot basically says:
"You are now using the latest official Developer version" and then states the version number as:
Current version;: 10.1.0.132(C432E2R3P3) (Official).
As theYT video above states there seems to be some magic USB FW version taht is able to upgrade the phone to a version thats again OTA compatible.
Oh i wish i woul dhave that version for my P40 Pro Plus
Anyone?
Ender
You can use the firmwares here and HiSuite Proxxy
