P10 gets quite hot - Huawei P10 Questions & Answers

Hello,
since 4 days I am a proud owner of a Huawei P10. Berfore that I had a HTC One M9, which did good work for me, except two repairs, but due to a new mobile contract I got the P10 now.
Yesterday I was on my way with my bike, using the App Komoot with my phone inside THIS (not sure if available in other languages than german) waterproof bike case. I had my M9 with a cover case around it, in there often and everything was fine too.
But as I came back from my bike ride yesterday I wanted to take the P10 out of the bike case and as I touched it I almost let it fall down because it was so damn hot.
I managed to start CPU-Z on it and it showed a value of 65-70°C (at soc_thermal) A few minutes later it was on a normal temperature again.
Today it tested it again using the Multiview-App-Thing with Komoot and CPU-Z simultaneously and it reached a maximum of 61,9°C (Screenshots attached)
I'm not really sure what causes it to get so hot. It could be the phone itself or the app or the direct sunlight hitting the phone in the closed case.
Is it normal that it gets so hot? Or better, does it damage the phone in any way?

When the camera or navigation are turned on, P10 will be hot, and if it is turned off, it will return to normal .

But is it normal that it gets so hot I can't touch it anymore for some minutes? I mean My HTC One M9 only got that hot when doing a NAndroid Backup

P10 gets very hot, my old Mate 8 never heats up like P10 even when using GPS and camera...

Hi guys, I got one step further from what you all mentioned. I took it the day before yesterday to a official service and reported that issue. When I'm taking a photo, and I as many bought this phone especially because of camera, the phone gets so hot it's like 40 degrees Celsius. They tasted the phone and told me nothing is wrong, it works in a proper way and no, you can't use a premium guarantee. So, I think I'll sell it in a near future.

Same here - when taking photos or videos for a bit longer time, it gets noticeably hot. Summer is on the doorstep, so I will try to test if the phone shuts down at all or keeps functioning normal. If it shuts down - will bug the seller with warranty.

[Q] Over Heating Issue

I am currently using a GNEX that is now almost 2 years old so i am due for a new phone. So far the Xperia Z is at the top of my list followed by the HTC One.
However there is one thing that bothers me about the Z. The overheating issues i have been hearing about.
To current Z owners. How bad is this issue and has Sony explained what is causing this and if they intend to fix it?
I don't think there is an overheating issue. The phone back gets a bit hot under certain conditions but never has it affected my use. I have a feeling it is due to the tight packaging of the phone and the use of glass which causes this, but I really isn't an issue. Don't let that scare you away from the phone.

Yes, it is not a problem at all. Trust me. Also, I integrated the 3-phase thermal protection into my custom kernel and it works like a charm, keeping it cool all the time.
It does get warm rather quick but it is really only a warmth, not "hot". My old milestone 2 used to be permanently warm and quite hot when using it (especially internet use on 3g). My S2 was usually pretty cool, but got close to painfully hot when playing intensive games like modern combat. So far, the xperia Z hasn't got as hot as either of these phones for me.
The phone does get hot but only when using chrome so I'm sure its not an issue just a bug. I know that phones can get a little hot and I accept that but when I first experienced the heat coming from the top of the phone it was enough to worry me. I am however confident that it will be resolved so I'm not worried.
I really never heard that issue before...
Buy this and amaze

To be exact there is no such thing in the XZ as overheating. At least I did not hear of "overheating". Some phones tend to get a bit warmer during intensive tasks, but not excessive.
BTW, the difference between a bit warm and overheating is that overheating is actually a thermal "shock" that would usually lead to a restart of your device, or a smoking device.
well mine gets hot when i use the screen a lot. System Tuner shows me that the cpu gets up to 49 degrees. I'm really thinking of buying Cooler Master 212 for the cpu I'm really concerned about the cpu life.

This phone will be worth about $10 by the time the CPU is affected!
hope so !
Hi,
Just thought i would let you know. I had my Xperia Z three weeks. On sunday it was on charge and my phone rang. I took it off charge and answered the call.
The screen was extremely hot then it cracked in my ear. There are a few others that i know of on sony forums who reported this issue but Sony are refusing to replace my phone saying its not a "manufacturing issue".
Im left without a phone and starting legal action against them.

I also happen To have this issue, my phone gets got to the point it hurts my skin! I even use a case and the case gets really hot too
When i play S.surfers for about 45 minutes I see that the game doesn't run smoothly.Eventually the display also becomes warmer and that results that the display does not respond properly on my fingers.

with the latest firmware (.244) the phone runs even cooler than with the previous firmware (.423). Also, intensive games lag less.

I'm on XP .227 and having overheating issues while using the camera. During games it's pretty fine.
But when recording for like 2 minutes the camera just shuts down due to overheating? Not really sure if it's the same bug. The front is pretty hot, the back is less hot.
Do you have any troubles while using the camera?
I've recorded 20 minutes straight, have never had overheating.

I don't have problems so far with the camera, have not yet been recording video, but I will try that out asap.
Another annoying thing is the touchscreen, sometimes it goes crazy and register my fingers way off...maybe software related.
I would rather wait another month or two and get a brilliant phone..

Yeah me too.. and i probably won't buy a phone with qualcomm CPU in the future
The SD820 is even worse than SD801
I can't even play hitman go while listening to music, it laags like hell.
This should be the fastest processor on the market...
Mine gets hot, battery lasts like the z3. Probably my last Sony phone also, I have had Sony since the arc.
I am disappointed

I have recently updated to the. 238 and the camera doesn't heat up much as before. Gets warm, but not hot.
My main issue is stamina mode has been ruined and instead of my regular 54hrs at 100% battery, I now get 27hrs with the. 238.
Battery to me is everything, thats why i was very happy with my Sony Xperia x performance.
But not anymore.
Also i just checked, my batt was at 70% i tried turning off stamina mode to see how much the change would be, ONE HOUR difference with stamina mode on!
ONE!
VERY ANNOYED!
I got my X performance yesterday....
Immediately I updated it to 35.0.A.1.238 firmware... and did a factory reset
after startup, I noticed the phone heating up slowly to a point where it felt uncomfortable to hold in hand...
so it stopped all restoration from my old xperia, turned off the wifi and everything and put in on charging in Stamina mode....
after 2hrs the phone was good ...no over heating & then continued with the rest of the process...
so all is well now...
any ways, as i did a factory rest I have lost all the pre-loaded Music, Video & wallpapers....
can any having those pre-loaded things, please share with me....
would really appreciate it......

Galaxy note 8 (about screen issues)

Hey guys! I would like to buy galaxy note 8, but since there was some posts and stories when people having big problems with it's screen (even after 2-3 months) - I am still in consideration. I am talking about burn in and light leak. I know that some people will say it's not very noticeable in some cases and just "chill out", but when I pay for phone 1000 euro - Phone should be perfect.
So I am creating a poll and expecting note 8 users to respond
If you have any problems with screen, could you also mention since when did you experienced it? (e.x. 1-8 months after purchasing)
P.s. As I experienced, note series phones has the most problems with "burn in". The reason I want this phone is because of the stylus pen, which I find very useful.
I have finally created some burn in but it from keeping Pokemon go open for hours and hours at a time. I've now found that using the Tiles app to hide system bars for all apps, but it's too late now. Mine is very faint and only shows in white and blue screen tests. I couldn't see it until I actually ran the burn in test.

Would warranty service replace the screen which has burn-in, or you haven't contacted them yet? Because I asked at Telia in Denmark, and they said that they would.

I can confirm screen burn-in is covered under samsung warranty from experience. My screen burn in came from the enabled auto brightness setting. Quite often my phone is holstered near the front windshield of my car. During the day, sometimes the sunlight would trigger daylight mode which is 100% brightness. Unaware of this, I was exposing the screen to long periods of youtube and maps while driving for months.. Next thing you know, screen burn in. I'm sure many cases are a result of this. So now I use an app too closely monitor auto-brightness. I think as long as one keeps brightness at no higher than 60% will avoid screen burn-in.
I've been using my Note 8 N950N for about 3 months now with auto brightness enabled and everything seems fine so far. I can get 2 days battery with lite usage.
Yeah I could get a replacement but I don't want to get a refurbished phone. I hate getting a device and wondering what they did to actually "fix" whatever was wondering with the original person's defective unit.

If you purchase it directly from Samsung. You should be fine.
Be wary with Samsung's repair centers
Sent my phone for repair last week( display burn-in) received it with the same problem ( and was charged for a repair, which I paid thinking it was for the screen ) what they changed was the charging port which I had no problem with . Now they want me to send it again and I won't . Won't get charged again
No burn in for me. Got the phone on January this year (2018). Flashed and rooted on the first week. Loving the phone.
I Have my note 8 since Nov 2017 for almost 11 months, no burns or light bleed, nor pinkish tint, or peeling paint, no false moisture warnings, no excessive batt drain, no sluggish charging, no lag, zero random reboots, no freezing, ram always above 1 GB, cpu temp always below 49 oC, perfect cameras, excellent call quality, fast gps all the time, even indoors, nothing wrong in any way, I am very, very pleased with it, btw, I am running it with 7.1.1

Mine is almost 7 months old, there is only light leaks (was there when i bought the phone and you will get used to it) but it really doesnt effect the phone nor water resistance. I have swam with my phone many times in both pool and sea, still rocking. If you use full brightness even with the red limit bar ofcourse you will burn the screen. I have used it on that mode many times but still no issues with it. About light leak, it really doesnt bother, i had xa ultra and sides were a little bit curved and i could see the same light leak. Its not that of a big deal.
N950u, crc2
I've had mine for 8 months now. Started with screen becoming less responive to my touch and stylus. About a week ago, my display started opening and exiting apps, couldn't remain on same page, and scrolling on it's own. I took it to my carrier and they replaced it no charge.

N7P heat

Hi guys,
For a couple of weeks now my girlfriend and I both are the happy owners of the N7P.
Beautiful device and does everything perfect.
Both are of course the same identical N7P's (packaging numbers and all device ID's on the phone are identical) , on contract from the same store (Vodafone) and bought at the same time.
One thing we noticed a couple of days after usage is that my screen is a lot brighter and less yellowish (without auto brightness and blue light filter off).
could this be a refurbished model or could this happen from the factory?
The second thing we noticed is that my girlfriend's 7P is running HOT, not only during charging but also during normal use and standby.
Really noticeable while holding both devices and it really disturbed us.
I first thought it was an specific app but couldn't find anything.
After some testing we decided to factory reset both our devices and set them up exactly the same and installed a temperature monitoring app.
After some hours of testing again with some basic features and standby time on both phones, the result was that my girlfriend's 7P turned out to have an avarage of 7 degrees celcius higher overal temperature and 5 degrees celcius higher cpu temperature.
The store found my personal tests and results not convincing enough and said that if I were to return the phone they would do testing of their own and if they would find the results disturbing enough send it back to Nokia... At a lot of extra costs.
I hope that anyone could give some advice and/or explanation for this before I go back to the store.
Thank you for reading.
Regards Tim.
If screens isn't the same, imo that would be the argument to return one of phones to be fixed.
I would try switch phones and you will be using your girlfriend's phone and she will be using your's. That would enough to find out if the problem is with some app or is with one of 7+ itself.

CPU overheating while running camera

Hello, I got my new phone just two weeks and I noticed huge issue, or is it just faulty piece for repair? :/
Yesterday I was using phone around 30 mins, always on sun 30 ' C, phone was really hot in my hands, I was running camera all time to make videos 1920x1080 and as well slowmotion and I got this notification: Warning! Temperature too high to use Camera. Wait for phone to cool down before using Camera.
See screenshots from CPU monitor app, when 47'C I got this warning, however i am not sure if its correct temperature.
This is actually ridiculous, how about users in the world? In Asia if there is 40 ' C on sun? Is that EU CPU Exynos 9810 not able cooling on the sun? How about your experience with worldwide model with CPU Snapdragon 845???
Samsung Galaxy Note9 N960F - EU version, CPU Exynos 9810
Score in Antutu Benchmark 249267, device verification passed.
See attached screenshots, thanks for any advice

Idk, here in EU, in Croatia is around 30°C - 33°C everyday and my Note gets hot too, so I'm trying to not exposure it to sunlight that much (all of my devices got hot in that temperatures)
You should try working outside on this temps and you will probably understand why your phone gets hot!

We need phone for traveling vlog, of course we want use it outside to make videos .... But Just 30 mins and died???
So this Samsung "flagship" is useless on the sun Lol... Definitely We can last on sun much more longer than the ''flagship'' phone
Even I fly with my drone, same problem occurs, getting really hot after 20 mins of flight
So I solved the problem myself
But first I went in the Samsung authorised service and told them this problem. They checked in the computer this phone serial number and they found out that this phone is only for Hungarian market and they cannot repair for free in warranty. I live in Czech Republic and only that they can repair. That's a little bit cheating from the seller where I bought this phone, so I go back to reseller (Mobinet.cz), give phone for repair. After two weeks they give back and said they do something with software. OK, so I am testing repaired phone, But even after that I see the same problem, overheating while running camera video. And warning message pop up again.
So I changed the second party app for making video, Filmic Pro, testing even 4k video and don't have a problem at all. Phone is even physically cold, not burning, like in Samsung camera! (Even hard to hold in hands).
Anyway you should always buy phone in authorised reseller in your country or in official store, don't go for cheaper price like me.
