I've been unsuccessful in porting the stock launcher for custom roms since it's designed for SDK24 and keeps fc. Anyone have any suggestions on how to do so? I'd prefer not to use another launcher. I'm slowly learning Android coming from iOS.
If you haven't, give NovaLauncher a try. It's very customizable, and has a bunch of extra features!

Try install the pixel launcher. Which 99% the same as the stock launcher
Hey, I googled Moto G5 launcher apk and it took me to tech droid. You can actually download the apk for the stock launcher and clock widget directly from the article or just search XDA threads.

It just keeps fc on anything above 7.0, I'm going to just edit pixel launcher for the look of the stock launcher. Thanks though...

I wish someone would. Above my skills. I've gotten about half way through editing Pixel Launcher too match this stock launcher.

Hi.
I ahve just flashed the KANGY ROM for the nexus s, and it has a theme chooser.
But the standard theme for the system ui, and contacts, dialer, you name it isnt the stock Ice cream sandwich theme. Its more black and white..
So my question is, is there any theme for themechooser that is the exact copy of the stock ICS framework? dialer, contacts,sms,settings, the right colors .???

maybe one of the holo themes by RICARDO CERQUEIRA, serach form him on the market or xda, his themes are stock like with oher colors. if he provides one with the original one I don'd not.

EDIT: Applied the outline theme to see it. Doesn't change the dark email, sms, gmail, etc.

The KANGY ROM uses the Nova Launcher, which doens't support other themes, it uses his own theme.
With the Apex app, you can download themes from the Play Store!
Have fun with it!

I actually do use Apex as well. The themes I have tried don't effect the email and other apps though.

buddies...please note, i am just sharing them. i don't have the OB now (i sold it off) and seldom get it since the person i sold it to is a friend of mine.
he gives me the cell for a day or two for modding.
i cannot install each launcher and give screenshots.
hope you understand.

anyway.. i still think it was stupid to sell your OB!
When I try to install some launcher (the ones in .zip) it tells me unable to parse blah blah blah...

You should push launcher 2 into system/app and set access rights. You cannot install that apk. I'm currently using this launcher and I like it a lot - very fast, nice categories in drawer (you can create and manage by yourself). I'm really interested in some launchers (Huawei, Dell)...

anybody got the screen shots for the stock huawei launcher in action?... trying to make my U8665 as "huawei" as possible (weird right lol
) already got the keybourd... also if any more stock huawei apks come to mind shoot them my way, this device only had the freakin POTER-LOCKSCREEN
I just got my new, customized Moto X in the mail and so far I love it with a few exceptions. Most notable of these is the fact that I appear to be stuck with the stock 5 screens. I prefer a very streamlined UI with my phone and so in my past Android phones I've only had a home screen and one extra.
Is there any possible way to change the number of screens in the stock operating system? I have flashed different roms in the past with other phones but I think I am going to avoid that with this phone at all costs because I have almost all of the features I would want in a custom ROM already.
any help would be appreciated! And yes, I have already tried searching for this issue and I can't seem to find any solutions. I feel like this is a pretty standard feature that I have seen in almost all other newer Android phones.
Do yourself a favor and use Nova launcher or Apex launcher.

I guess I'll have to check one of these out. I had GOlauncher ex and then ADW launcher on my previous phone but it was android 2.Xxx (or rather, a custom ROM based on android 2.4something) so I assume there are much cleaner, more advanced launchers out by now. I just wanted to make sure the stock UI couldn't be modified in any way by a setting that was hiding from me before I ventured out into launchers and/or ROMs.

I think I wouldnt go for it. I see from the forums that Huawei has disabled the option of changing the launcher when they released EMUI 3. I wouldnt try EMUI 4. Would wait for Cyanogenmod rather. Want to make my Android look and behave like Android.

You can change your launcher in both EMUI 3.x and 4.x in settings under Apps -> Standard Apps.

There is a beta going on in China now for 6.0 for Mate S. Dont expect a app drawer thu - the Mate 8 has EMUI 4.0 / Android 6.0 and there is still no app drawer. Personally I use Nova Launcher with Moonshine icons to give a Google material look and add the app drawer.
Use Nova Launcher. Not only do you get an appdrawer as you like and an overall better launcher, but I've also found out that when changing launcher and disabling the stock launcher the annoying "content adaptive brightness" stopped completely. I hate that "feature" and glad it's gone now.
I am getting tired of annoying features of the Sony launcher, like "suggested apps" (http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/help/how-to-remove-search-bar-xperia-home-t3355603).
I'd love to get some opinions about alternative launchers with the following attributes:
* simple, uncluttered, minimalist appearance
* customizable, to make it even simpler
* esthetically clean and elegant (no graphic or color overload)

Another vote for Nova.
Nova is nice, but Apex launcher has nearly identical features without requiring upgrades to the paid app. Plus, I think it's just a hair lighter on system resources.

the launcher itself is great, only a few things, which are editable ( Disappear for example ) are needed. Tried the google now launcher and apex and were disappointed so i decided to mod the stock launcher to my wish

Actually, when you dont know how to edit apks its the easiest way to use serjars xposed module ( Dont got the link right know, have to look it up and edit it in ) Requires root and a working recovery
Makes the whole appearence editable ( Icon Numbers in the Home Dock, Grid sizes and dont know what else.
Even the app suggestions are stuck in the past.
