Is this worth buying in.this Price range? - P8 Lite (2017) Discussion

Thinking about switching my device to Huawei GR3 2017 named in my country BUT P8 lite. And am I going to be able to use custom Rom of P8 literally in GR3 2016?

Custom rom won't be stable as other snapdragon device. If you will use them consider buying another phone. This p8 2017 is great, nice software, cool hardware and efficient battery but won't support custom rom. I've talk to huawei Devs and their won't deliver any source for kirin 655 so it's locked.

It depends on you

If you're looking to root your device and install custom roms..no this isn't the device for you
However if you won't need custom roms or root.. maybe this is the device for you
But root is available for this device but if you do something wrong while rooting like me the device is going to be bricked even TWRP RECOVERY can't get it back neither the dload method.I tried to root my device but it bricked frome me until now and i can't get it back.
So think about it.. Huawei solutions aren't that good to be honest.I'd like them to do like samsung.
Samsung Bootloader is already unlocked..and the replace it with download mode cause whenever the device is bricked you just need to do three steps:
1.download the correct Frimware from sammobile
2.download odin
3.get your device to downloading mode and flash the frimware
So Samsung handles the bricked things easily
So That's why i kinda hate Huawei Devices cause they brick so easily

Huawei P8 lite 2017 bootloop

A friend of mine ask me to look at his phone. It's an Huawei P8 lite 2017, original software, not rooted, two months old. It used to work but now it only shows the start up screen with the Huawei logo, so I think it's bootlooping.
I tried to flash a new recovery with Minimal ADB Fastboot but it's not possible because I'm 'not authorized'.
I'm not sure how to fix this problem and where to start. I obviously can't go into the settings of the phone and switch on USB debugging, because it doesn't boot to Android. Is it possible to repair this phone?
thanks in advance
My problem is similar to this tread

so I will post in that one

Bring me back my p9 EVA-L19C605B135

good evening,
I have a huawei p9 EVA-L19C605B135 and I had a problem (for some bull**** I did while I was drowsy).
In an attempt to upgrade to nougat I joined this site (http://www.pregunteleamauro.com/cambiar-el-cust-del-p9-eva-l09/) to modify the CUST and only then realized that it was for L09. Sad, ridiculous but it's reality.
I did the process and now it shows to be a L09C605B135. I tried to install another rom by huawei updater, by dload folder and I can not fly to what it was before.
Can someone help me reverse the process? If you can give me the steps for this, I thank you.
debrand your phone or if its booting up
*#*#2846579#*#* find your country build
or vendor
then if you found 605 or C something
find your stock firmware that is
compatible with your vendor and
flash it via key combo
if dload key combo doesn't work
search for DC Phoenix
it might resurrect your device
goodluck
some questions
is your phone booting up to system?
are you able to enter recovery at least?
do you already unlocked your bootloader?
and last post the device detailed status..

Wow.. that's confusing... (bootloader, root, twrp, rom, model) [RESOLVED]

TL;DR at the end.
Hi, I used to easily root and put a rom on my old N7000, I bought a P8 now,
and man... this forum (and others) is confusing about this phone...
I have the Huawei P8 Lite 2017 PRA-LX1C432B180 dual sim no brand, European EMUI 5.0.1, 3GB RAM.
and I have no idea where to start to install a new custom ROM, because of the confusion :
do I have to start with twrp ? rooting ? unlocking what ? a bootloader ? a frp ? what's a FRP ?
is the .img that come from these Tutorials about bootloaders and TWRP work with my P8 PRA-LX1 ?
the model PRA-LX1 is the same for P8 Lite, P8 Lite 2017, Honor 8, P9 ??? they have the same model numbers ?? even for dual sim and single sim ?? B100 B170 ?? :silly:
Use TWRP, but don't use TWRP it will brick your phone, What ??
XDA doesn't make 2 section for the P8 Lite and P8 Lite 2017, so everything is mixed...
wow...
TL;DR :
Can someone tell me the order I need to install stuff ? JUST THAT, I'll do the research then, but just tell me what to install in what order ?
for example :
1- TWRP
2- unlock FRP
3- unlock bootloader
4- root
5- etc...
secondary questions :
- is there a way to prevent bricks or at least lower the odds (I read a lot of brick with TWRP, isn't there an alternative ?)
- I read the custom rom will use the free space from the internal memory, so the stock rom will still be there, so since EMUI takes 10GB from my 16GB, I'll have only 6GB to work on ?
Thank you for any constructive answers :good:

this doesn't help at all since it doesn't talk about unlocking bootlocker or what to do first
responding to my own topic, maybe it will help people
First thing that you need is to unlock the bootloader
I had a hard time with this because the huawei website doesn't allow french phone number, anyway,
- I did a factory reset
- when the phone "first" boot up, it will ask for your google mail account
- then for the huawei account, only now I can create an account
- my phone number didn't work, so I had the option on the screen to send the verification code to an email
- the email will send you to the website (you can fill any info there)
- the phone will see the mail confirmed
- on the web site fill every info you need, the website is annoying because it will send you many verification code to your mail at each action
- verify that your account is linked to honor website by going there and connection with login/password (https://club-us.hihonor.com/index for example)
Finally go to :
- connect and fill the info and you'll have your unlock CODE.
- now download and install HiSuite and "minimal_adb_fastboot_v1.4.2_setup.exe"
- remove USB from phone, connect the other side to computer
- shutdown phone
- press volume down, stay pressed,
- connect the usb, after a while you'll see the bootloader screen / fastboot screen
- release volume down
- launch fastboot on computer
- type fastboot oem unlock #########
where #### is your huawei unlock code
- confirm and it will reboot twice and do a factory reset
- done
:fingers-crossed:

You did not explained which ROM you choosed, do a factory reset does not make you root.
I have the exact same model as you and I've been searching all weekend for a custom ROM that work with the device and allows me to be root.
So far I have just found one img but it full of bugs (can't delete apps or access developer options anymore).
I will be thrilled if you have further info or link to share! I'm sure we can help each others
So far, the only step that work for me is a tutorial in french from phonandroid forum.
But, once again, I do not recommand this as it is full of bugs!
Good luck

that's because I'm not searching for a Custom ROM yet, I know custom ROM are unstable for the P8 Lite 2017
I just wanted to know what order, and I found these infos :
1 - unlock bootloader
2 - install TWRP
3 - install Root
after that I want to remove many Apps in my phone via Root.
and backup the stock firmware in case I need it.
I'm only at Step 2 xD
Really interested in seeing if this can be the first post that lists all the steps to obtain root without bricking/problems/issues.

EDIT : [ I did a factory reset and now I'm trying to install Magisk, because apparently you shouldn't trust SuperSU... ] the old post :
I installed twrp-3.1.1-2-v1-prage.img SHA1: 2FC093301A366D6E62AA442C70FFFE082F47C062
worked,
then I installed SuperSU.zip
name : "SuperSU-v2.79-201612051815-EMUI5.0.zip" SHA-1 : 119FF5E1426DBA48BD0AB0276A5A640E8D0C4F6D
worked,
now I have root,
---
Now I will unBloat EMUI5 via adb (package removal with the help of this thread : Link )
and command like : "pm uninstall -k --user 0 $packagname" (e.g. pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.android.inputdevices)
(more info here )
I don't know if you need more info
my phone works fine.
I don't intend to install custom ROM right now, too risky and too many bugs.

Unbrick P10 Selfie

Hi everyone, I need your help, I just bricked my CellPhone Huawei P10 Selfie.
BUILD NUMBER: BAC-L03C25B153
MODEL NUMBER: BAC-L03
PRODUCT ID: 26401324
SERIAL NUMBER: 6FCDU17929002623
I was trying to install oreo, I unlocked bootloader with any problem, but when I try to install TWRP it bricked.
When it try to boot it stop in the window that said Your device has been unlocked and can't be trusted to learn mor visit:.... and has a message your device is booting now... after a few minutes it automatic restart.
I can't use the bootloader, because I can't access to USB debuggin, eRecobery doesn't download, and when I try to install from SD Card with dload folder in root directory whith the os downloaded from hear "pro-teammt /firmware-database/ " using the vol+, vol- and on button, it start the process and when it has about 5% stop and return a message: software install failed.
What can I do?
Regards.
The P10 Selfie isn't a P10. This forum is just for the P10 VTR model.
You own a BAC which is completely different to the P10, and I really don't know why Huawei sells this in some regions as a P10 Selfie - it even doesn't look like a P10.
So, wrong forum for you - this is correct.

Huawei 20 mate lite soft bricked

Hi , soft bricked my Huawei Mate 20 lite. Model is SNE-LX1 HW/EU. Did a firmware upgrade to frp unlock Since then get black screen with yellow text saying a new OS has been installed and device reboots in recovery. Reinstalled already different firmware versions via sload SD card upgrade + use fastboot to unlock FRP code. Fastboot unlock command completes successfully and device does automatically a low level format to then come back to "different os installed message. Anyone advice ?
Hi phitilip, I can't help you on the bricked part (yet). I assume you tried to use Huawei Hisuite software to restore the original firmware so you could possible start over?
I recently got my Mate 20 Lite and haven't messed with it too much (yet!). I do have a question for you though. How did you get the bootloader unlocked? The only way I have found is to pay some random person/company for an unlock code. Trying to avoid that. By the way, I'm in the USA and also on SNE-LX1 with a 'global' designation.

Hi , the unlock code I purchased was for the FRP unlock because I was told would solve my problem and although the code is correct and allows to do a factory reset it will not solve the "you installed a new software ..." message. When looking online I found that I probably installed the wrong region code firmware but tried everything and cannot get the phone to boot normally. Any advise would be very appreciated.
Can you get to recovery or download?
I'm much more familiar with Samsung devices so my frame of reference is there. How did you flash the new rom? What tool? Where did you get the rom from?
Since you can reset to factory, but that still gives you the error, the only way I can think of so far, with the very little experience I have with Huawei devices, is to find two things if you can. First try to find a 3rd party recovery like TWRP or CWM or possibly use the tool you used to flash the ROM. Flash that if possible to the recovery partition. Then find the original factory firmware for your device and region, even if you have to go beck to Android 9. Then from recovery, or the tool you used to flash new rom, flash that. I'll do some research and see if I can find anything you haven't. From my limited searching for my own Mate 20 Lite, there doesn't seem to be much out there. What's your objective in all of this? Are you just looking to root? Did Hisuite play any role in this? The good news is I have the exact same device as you so I can try some things while it's not bricked
